My position is that you can address someone properly and still make your point. You can't start an argument/discussion with someone and every time you want to talk, you'll call him "isiukwa" and then make your point. If he wants to make his own point, he'll definitely retaliate with a similar name. If that name refers to just that person, he might not be bothered because he understands you but when it refers to more that one person, others might not find it funny.

Overrated? Maybe but it's still a good measure of intelligence.
However, using spoken English to judge non-native speakers is completely wrong (though it shouldn't be a bad as Mrs. Jonathans').
So many factors hinder ones' English knowledge development.

For native English speakers, spoken English is never a measure of intelligence or Education, as a result, some verbal tests use critical reasoning as a means of testing ones' intelligence.
