My brother’s application: Application submitted: June 16, 2022. Biometrics: still valid from a few years back. Can’t remember. BVL and PPR: August 29, 2023. I saw shege because of the long wait o. Sent several web forms and emails. The last I sent was a week before approval. Eligibility didn’t even start until the last time I checked the tracker which was few days before approval. They nearly doubted if I did submit the application.😂🤦🏾♂️ All the best to everyone still waiting especially the backlog applicants.🙏🏾 Good morning all. 4 Likes |

dealhunter: Based on the current exchange rate of #700+ to 1 Canadian dollar, it’s not enough. The #4m is about $5,000+ and your to and fro tickets is about #3m, more than half of your proof of funds. Hotel, food and other miscellaneous expenses while in Canada haven’t been considered. Besides, VOs do not expect you to blow your savings on a vacation trip. So, to be on a safe side, you need more money as proof of funds. 1 Like |

GodsOwn2004: Flagpole favors visitor visa applicants whose spouses are on study permit and not those whose spouses are already PR holders. Know the category your spouse in Canada is and act accordingly. It’s needless jumping on any available pathway to work permit without first analyzing if you qualify for such. |

meljoe: You pay visa fee together with biometrics before submitting your application online. Then a day after submission, you’ll get a biometrics letter which you’ll print and also book your biometrics capturing and that of your household on VFS website. |

Actually, you can influence their decision to expedite your application if there’s a genuine reason for that. For example, I submitted a study permit application for my uncle’s wife on 21st of April and her baby was 5 months then. Her visa was approved on 30th of June and on the 1st of July, I submitted her baby’s visitor visa application(she’s 8 months now). Last week, after she got back her stamped passport, I attached a copy of her visa and sent email and web form to IRCC stating that the baby who’s 8 months and still breastfeeds needs to travel with her mom by next month. Two days later, they requested for the baby’s medical. In fact, they even sent the medical form to her email directly and still sent to her portal. So, in such genuine situations, unlike accompanying your wife to settle in, they can expedite your application processing. chiomapx: |

Greetings Nairalanders, please I have an issue. My aunt submitted a study permit application via the new portal and while filling the forms online, she answered that she’s married and she’s going with her husband and her 5 months old baby. The application was submitted as a group with her as the principal applicant. But she was debited only $150(she did biometrics in 2021 when she submitted a first application that was denied). She expected to be debited of her husband’s visa and biometrics fees and her daughter’s visa fee since she stated she will be traveling with both them to Canada when filing her form. Now, her medicals have been requested but no update on her husband’s and daughter’s. Does it mean she has to submit a fresh application for her husband and daughter? Please, what can she do to fix the issue because she can’t travel without her baby especially? |

Some people are using VV to migrate to several countries including Canada with no intention of returning home and they still survive out of determination and sheer grit! It doesn’t mean it came on a platter of gold. Nothing good comes easy including conversion of one’s VV to WP. Yes, there are a number of pathways a VV holder can use to legitimize getting any job. Such pathways are study permit, marriage, etc. Some are fortunate to even get LMIA-approved jobs after a few weeks. Again, it’s very pertinent to point out that your chances of getting LMIA-approved jobs are better when you don’t just settle in Ontario. There are several provinces you can move to. 10 years ago when I migrated abroad for the first time, after 4 years as a graduate with no job, it was even on a group visa and with only USD$300 as PTA. Got a job after a month with a refugee permit, went on to live and work in that country for four years, making a minimum of USD$2,000 after tax every month before I relocated again. I strongly believe that a good number of people who intend migrating to Canada with VV and hoping to get a LMIA-approved job do not have better opportunities back home (I doubt if someone on a #500,000 per month job will want to go through the stress unless as a trial of a month or two and if no success, returns to his job back home) and the ‘shege’ they have seen in Nigeria will spur them to patiently keep pushing and fighting until they make headway. Naija people are resilient and it shows wherever they move to. If overpopulation is affecting Canadian labor force, borders would have been partially or fully closed and it will be extremely difficult to be receiving VV or study permit approvals. Even some people who arrived with PR didn’t find it easy getting a job. Life is all about doing your best, time, patience, etc and things will fall in place for you. 19 Likes |

Gentlesoul3268: You’re funny, really! Lost passport without your consent yet you are requested to come along with your old passport on the day of capturing and collection? Truth is, it depends on who you know and if you’re willing to pay. Isn’t that the game that usually plays out in Nigeria? |

Ajalalomo: Just like I stated, I did mine in Port Harcourt. I would have linked you with the officer that did mine for me. I paid #120,000 in December 2022 and my passport was to expire in October 2023. I captured in first week of January 2023 and got my new passport in March 2023. |

obazi: The way some people talk with authority of what they know nothing about or have experienced baffles me! Nobody claimed any misplacement or did any affidavit for any lost passport on my behalf. I paid for my passport renewal in December 2022 and my passport was to expire in October 2023. Paid extra #20,000 which is official (on top of the original unofficial amount for renewal). My previous passport of October validity was 5 years and I was renewing for 10 years. I went for capturing in January 2023 with my old passport and in March, I went to pick up my new passport with my old one where they now stamped it “cancelled” before activating the new one. Please, let’s endeavor to share info we are sure of or have experienced before in order not to unintentionally mislead or spread false information. Authentic information can help someone in the same situation. Btw, this experience happened in Port Harcourt. |

Ashirioluwa: Please, this is not true. You can renew a passport of 8-10 months validity (i.e. if your passport has about 10 months before it expires, you can renew). I’m a living witness. |

Teekay20:It means that visa fee payment was made by a stolen debit card and the real owner of the card reported to IRCC and the transaction was reversed by IRCC. I know this because it has happened to my cousin on his application I did which I used a third party to make payment. But I’m surprised IRCC didn’t inform the applicant of the outstanding debt and later, a procedural fairness letter to the applicant to respond to before issuing a denial. Also, if a decision has been made on an application, raising a web form is meaningless and won’t yield any positive result. Just encourage the person to submit a fresh application. 1 Like |

Muna0706:There’s nothing like lead applicant. Since you’re funding the trip, and possibly you’ve got a good job with enough funds in your account, you’ll apply as a family. Remember, you have to show strong home ties since you intend going with your family. Give it your best shot by packaging your application very well. Remember, your LOE is as important as any document. All the best. 1 Like |

House34:A procedural fairness letter doesn’t inform applicants of “IRCC decision-making process”. It highlights the error(s) by the applicant and requests for explanation or information in respect to that. |

Jmkplus:You can only make a fresh payment if IRCC contacts you that your previous payment was fraudulent. In that case, you’ll be asked to log on to your portal and make a fresh payment. The procedural fairness letter you’re asking of, is it the one I wrote to them? |

fashionicon:1-In the form, you’re expected to state how much you are going to spend for the trip and that includes flight ticket, accommodation and food. Is it her sister that will buy her flight ticket or just take up the expenses on arrival in Canada? 2-Did she include the bank statement of her sister in Canada who’s going to take care of her expenses in Canada? 3-Most if not all Canadian applications don’t require interview. So, your LOE is one of the strongest documents you have to submit. An incoherent LOE(i.e. if it’s not in tandem with certain documents you submitted such as Annual Leave Letter, Offer of Employment, pay slips, bank statement, her relationship/upcoming wedding, etc) might result in you being denied a visa. Assume likely questions a visa officer might ask you concerning your application; purpose of visit, duration, why important, funding of the trip and the intention to return home. Also, since she mentioned her upcoming wedding, did she include pictures of she and her fiancé to strengthen her home ties? TRV application is about packaging and thorough attention to details. P.S. Canadian Immigration Minister Sean Frazer has informed IRCC to relax certain criteria for visitor’s visa applications such as making sure the applicant has enough funds in the account, making sure the applicant will return home at the end of the visit. However, it hasn’t been confirmed when they intend to implement such measures and if it is for applications considered as backlogs or for new/future applications. |

olasubomy:This response above👆🏾answers the question @Betterlife30 asked me. Also, I’ll like to add, a clear and well worded LOE(Letter of Explanation) should be included. If you need a sample, let me know. Remember, don’t be in a hurry to reapply, give it some time. |

Appeal a visitor visa where her home ties are just siblings and a job of less than CAN$2,000? She also has significant ties to Canada which further reduces her chances. You appeal a decision that you are sure you’ve covered the possible reasons for denial. Let her just reapply and make sure she corrects the reasons for denial. Appeal is just a waste of time and if she loses, it taints her future chances because it will be entered into her GCMS notes. ednut1: |

berryblake: Why didn’t she try to get a LMIA-approved job in Canada before now and make use of the policy for people on visitor’s visa working in Canada for upwards of one year? With a LMIA-approved employment offer, the person can apply for a work permit. Anyways, unless the Canadian government extends it, the policy will expire next month. 4 Likes |

Sara2022: In buttressing this comment, I’ll like to share an experience… I involved a third party in visa fee payment for my cousin of 17 years old because I didn’t have my domiciliary account debit card at the time. Unfortunately, the guy used a stolen debit card of a U.S. citizen to make the payment and after the transaction went through, it was later reversed(this can only be done if a stolen or hacked card was used and that was the case here. The owner of the card with the help of his bank traced the card to IRCC account and lodged a complaint). IRCC office contacted my cousin to make another payment which I finally did with my card. Weeks later, IRCC contacted him again and sent a procedural fairness letter demanding for an explanation on the first fraudulent transaction and details of who made the payment and why didn’t my cousin mentioned in a form that someone assisted him in completing the application forms. We responded that it was a third party who made the payment and he’s currently at large as my cousin isn’t the only victim. Also, apart from the payment, he, my cousin completed the application forms on his own with no third party assistance(I actually did the application for him though). He begged to be considered being a young adult and a first time applicant who has no debit card and still under a guardian who was unavoidably absent during his application. Fortunately, his explanation was accepted and his medicals requested. He’s now in Canada. So people, be careful when dealing with third party payments o. 6 Likes |
