In a recent interview with Ife Salako of Naija FM, the 'pullover' singer says E-Money is his younger brother and he even sponsored his wedding.

By now it is no longer news that top Kannywood actress, Rahama Sadau, was expelled by The Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria because she featured in a romantic musical video by singer, ClassiQ where she hugged and cuddled the music artist.

What many people don't know is the background story behind the actions of the leadership of the conservative Hausa movie industry, Kannywood.

Until 2007, Kano was the home of a thriving film industry in the Hausa language. Hausa language ‘video-films’ are similar to the larger ‘Nollywood’ Nigerian film industry, but are stylistically different, with most films including song and dance sequences influenced by Indian films and hip-hop music videos.

However, things took a turn when a sex scandal involving a leaked sex of a very popular Hausa film actress having sex with her boyfriend instigated a change in the leadership of the Kano State Censorship Board.
The actress was one of the most popular actresses back then in Kannywood, kind of like the Genevieve or Omotola of Kannywood.

She had sex with a bureau de change owner and the guy filmed the whole encounter. What we are not sure of is if she was aware he was filming it.

Like they say out there, the guy 'shagged and bragged' to his friends that he had slept with the great lady, but they didn't believe him. In a bid to convince them, he showed them the video. Unfortunately, when he left the phone unattended, one of the people he had shown the video to copied it and that is how it went viral.

The leaked sex tape caused a big scandal and it got so bad that the actress had to go into hiding for fear of her life. Some Islamists also allegedly threatened her life over the video. According to an article written at the time,
Residents of Kano State now live in fear, as Muslim groups are allegedly planning to attack the Hausa film actress over her x-rated video phone-clip circulating in the state, a move described by the Islamic group as immoral and abuse of Shariah law.

The clip caused public outcry in the state which resulted in her expulsion by the film makers association, along with 17 other members.

Executive Secretary of Kano Film Censorship Board, Alhaji Abdulkadir Kurawa, in a press release made available to THISDAY, said the banned actress’ participation in film will threaten peace enjoyed in the state.
Following the sex scandal which instigated a change in the Kano State Censorhip Board, a new director general of the Board, Abubakar Rabo Abdulkarim, formerly commandant of the hisbah (Sharia religious police), was appointed in August 2007. The board had been instituted in 2001 after the implementation of Islamic sharia law as a compromise measure between the filmmakers and the government. The censorship board enabled the films to continue being made but with some restrictions on dress and interaction between male and female actors.

Since that time till present, the board have been very strict on issues concerning male and female interaction which must follow the dictates of Sharia law.

This, I believe, is why the hammer has been very heavy on Rahama Sadau

The Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria yesterday announced they have expelled top Kannywood actress, Rahama Sadau, from the Hausa film industry because she featured in a romantic musical video by Jos born singer, ClassiQ and hugged, cuddled the music artist.

I am a poor girl like Rahama from the North who once found her impressive life an inspiration, the way she was able to rise from being an everyday girl from Kaduna to starring in Nollywood pictures made me dream, maybe one day, I too could.

In many ways, I think she's a lot like you - a woman facing the brute reality of trying to make it in a man's world. Unfortunately, Rahama's 'inspiring' days are about to be cut short. I know its a lot to ask, I know you have so many more important things to deal with and I know this might never get to you, but something in me told me I had to at least try.

MOPPAN is a national body and whether they like it or not, the people in Nollywood hold all the big guns, and there aren't many women with your reach or influence that can or might be willing to make them chip in.

Please share my petition on your site, or perhaps just give your voice to those calling for more fairness in the matter.
The people that did this are being inspired by the same religious puritanism that inspired Boko Haram, please help poor northern girls know that it's not a crime to hug or be hugged, it's not crime to do what men are allowed to do everyday of their lives.

Hello Laila, please help me before this woman gets me killed.

My girl and I went to a mall this Saturday to buy some stuff for my house. She was in the line to make payment when a man way, way in front of her asked the lady behind him to save his place.
According to what I found out after my woman totally embarrassed me in public, he wanted to quickly grab an item he forgot. The lady agreed and just as he promised, this young man - hugely built, tough looking guy, was back in flash.
You won't believe that as he was about to slide back into the line, my girl, like thunderbolt from no where, flew to the front and dragged this man by the shirt out of the queue. That what does the girl infront mean?! That how could she just bring in anybody, that those at the back, are they stupid?!
The shocked man was still trying to recover from the drag when my girl and the woman behind him started arguing in loud voices about who was right and who was wrong. Before I could say Jack Robinson, argument has turned ugly and they start fighting each other. Vicious fight o. Line scattered, people jumped in to separate them, including me..
My girl's mouth was just running like stomach on diarrhea while I held her asking her to calm down. She insulted this woman, her parents, her grandparents, great-grand parents, her forefathers, that they didn't give this other lady proper home training.
She made to face the man she dragged out of the queue who was by now furious too, tempers high, to insult him when that one landed her a sound slap on the face. My girl collapsed in my hands.

I shouted at the big guy, what again could I do and eventually carried my girl away from the scene to the car. Placed her inside and we drove home.

This is not the first time, nor the second nor the sixth time she's getting into public fights. She just won't see trouble and stay away!
I've told her she is possessed and desperately needs deliverance but she says she can't sit and see injustice and keep quiet. She always turns it around on me saying I'm a weakling, not loyal. That I'm not a man if I see fights, injustice as she calls it and run away or if I don't defend her.

I'm looking for advice here on how I can deal with this woman. I love her a whole lot - the best cook I've ever met, our sex life is awesome.

This her behavior, will it not kill me one day?
