I think it might be a bit risky to use only the sponsor's business SOA if the average end-of-month balance (over the last six months) is less than twice your school annual expenses. Imho, the VO knows that since it is a business account there is likely to be a lot of unexpected expenses; as a result, for such account to be used as the sole statement, it would be beneficial if the ending balance were about twice your school fees. This is not to say that you can't get the TRV with that SOA, my suggestion is based on the premise of playing it safe and reducing as much risk as possible.

I would recommend adding the sponsor's personal account as well, or getting a co-sponsor.

yeah..i think it's better to play safe because i can't afford not getting this on first trial. Would definitely get a co-sponsor.

Hello house, i'll like to know if a sponsor can use only his business account for the TRV application? He runs a primary and secondary school with a fairly constant flow of income from student fees and there are times depending on the time of year when the bank balance hits N8m or more. But last month it dropped to about N1m because of some capital expenditure in the secondary arm of the school. School resumes 14th sept, and he's sure by the end of next month the account should have risen up to about N7-8m again. I intend submitting my application end of september. My question now is : won't that sudden drop in balance to about N1m be a source of concern to the VO reviewing my application? Will explaining this in the application do any good?

well, mine is not for student visa but was online as well. I was only able to upload 4 out of 8 documents after about 50 attempt. I got the same error message several times. Used chrome, safari, MS edge, Mozilla and opera. cleared catche, switched computer on and off. Even opened a new account. same result. I know two other guys that are having same issue. Hopefully should be okay on business days.

Okay, i thought so too. I've even tried on a different system. Same result. Let's see how today goes.

Well, i'd say probably thesis courses might be an exception. Immediately my supervisor agreed to work with me, he recommended me to the department, then my file was sent to Faculty of Graduate Studies. It took about two weeks after they received my file to send an offer. So probably getting a supervisor for thesis courses can help fast track the process.

And what was the reason it took that long? Probably you begun your application way before the deadline for fall. 8 months is quite long!

Ok good. Keep in mind that "Room and Board" refers to both housing and food, not just housing. Whatever amount you put under room and board should be able to sufficiently cover room and food.

Don't leave that box blank o! The VO may assume you are saying you don't have money for room/board. Or it may cast doubt about your finances in the VO's mind. Don't leave your fate to the VO's arbitrary interpretation, try to be unambiguous and specific about all important detail. My sister left that box blank on her first application and was rejected for insufficient funds, even with lots of money on the bank statements.

I recommend putting $10k under room/board and then put another amount (even if small, e.g. $3k) in the "other" box.

Thanks. Duly noted. I got the estimate of $6500-15,000 for housing on the school website. However, i put $8,000 and left 'other' at $5,000.

As for your question, this was how I filled mine (with respect to my tuition fee):

Tuition: 8900 CAD (for 1 year)
Room/ Board/ Other fees: 10, 000 CAD
Amount available: 30, 000 CAD


Amount in my sponsor's Account balance: $34, 000 US

Note the amount I stated as available isn't the entire amount in my Sponsor's account. ..even though the sponsor is my dad.

Wow! I'm glad to find someone also going there. I'm guessing you were admitted for the winter session? For the room/board/ other fees quoted above is the $10,000 for all combined? Because on the form there was a field for room/board and another for other fees. Sorry for asking so much questions..lol. God will see us through.

Sure, it could be faster. For me, if i had a supervisor before beginning the application, it should have taken about a month assuming one meets all their academic requirements.

My letter of acceptance also didn't state the exact tuition fee which I used for TRV application. And I honestly don't think it's a big deal so far you can showcase your financial capacity the way(s) @TheBae has pointed out. Besides, one's fees will eventually depend on the courses you register for I think.

Thanks man. Did you also apply to Manitoba? One question please. I'm currently filling out the form for student permit made outside of canada (IMM1294E). For the part of the form that asks for tuition, room/board and other fees, am i to fill in the costs for one year or the costs for 2 years combined?

You could print the page for tuition on the schools website.

I applied on the 30th of May and i got an acceptance letter on the 10th of this month. So that's roughly 2.5 months. A condition for securing a place though was getting a supervisor. That's why it took that long. I got a supervisor like 3 weeks ago.

That would be a plus but it really just needs to show enough for one year tuition and living expenses and more for the sponsor to use for himself. They don't expect anyone to empty his/her account for you. You can get a co-sponsor to be on a safe side

If the school can provide that, fine.
If not, many people applied with letters that didn't contain that. Print out the page that shows that from the Uni website. If it's not detailed enough, do a spreadsheet to probable expenses.

So i finally got a letter of acceptance for my MSc program from the university of Manitoba and i have started the online study permit application. On the part for uploading the letter of acceptance, it says the letter has to contain the exact tuition fee for the program. My acceptance letter does not contain this, however the information is present on the school website. Is it necessary to contact the school to include this information or there is some other way i can go about this?

Hello house,

I'm applying for an e-passport and I got to know from the immigration website that my guarantor needs to provide a current passport, driving license and national ID card. However, he just has the passport and driving license. I will like to know if it can still be processed with only those documents. Secondly, I'm applying from Calabar but my permanent address is in Lagos. Since they now do address verification, is it likely they refer me to apply from the Lagos office?

Not yet. I'm applying for winter and the deadline for international students is 1st of september, though i finished my application like 2 months back. When i contacted the department they said decisions won't be ready until October which i feel is kind of late. Hopefully, i should get an offer from Manitoba this week which i can use to begin processing my TRV. If eventually McGill works out then i can switch. When did you apply?

Please anyone in the house applied or is applying for grad studies at McGill University (Fall or winter session?)

Delete the files, restart, then run the application as administrator. You can also open task manager and check if the windows 10 setup program then end it.

Go to your C: drive, delete $WINDOWS.~BT and $WINDOWS.~WS. If you cannot see the files ensure you enable your system to view hidden files. After deleting try running again.

please can anyone help me out here. i started downloading the windows 10 update from media creation tool. after about 70% the stuff disappeared but whenever i connect my internet i have active download going on in the background. this has been on for the past couple of days and its taking up so much of my data. I think its downloaded upto 5GB and yet i do not have the wiinddows 10. and i cannot resume the download as the media creation tool wont reopen

This happened to me too and it was really frustrating. What finally worked for me was uninstalling my antivirus (Bit Defender Total Security 2015). Apparently it was force closing the media creation tool for security reasons. Try uninstalling yours too. Good luck.

Just for the records, does this scholarship apply to 2 year MSc courses too?

This is the third time, i'm trying to upgrade my system from windows 8.1 home single language to windows 10 using the media creation tool. The first time, the download window vanished without notice at 70%. I had to restart the download. The second time it vanished at 80% and the third at 92%. It's really frustrating. Is there anything i might be doing wrong?

So this is a combination problem. So let the number of people shaking hands be n, then we are solving for n where nC2 = 120.
This gives n!/(n-2)!2! = 120. Simplifying gives n(n-1)(n-2)!/(n-2)!2!=120, which further simplifies to n(n-1)/2=120, then n(n-1)=240. Opening the brackets and expressing in quadratic form n^2-n-240=0. Solving for n gives 16.
