Chai....is this how demented you have become? Who are the Aros and Abiribas to start with? Are they "southsouth" too? Lol

FYI, The entire southern and parts of northern igboland used nsibidi. The entire Abia, Imo, large parts of Ebonyi and rivers as well as handful parts of Anambra, Enugu used Nsibidi. Study you won't study.

You can't rewrite history. I'm from Umuahia in Abia and our ancestors were part and parcel of the ancient okonko (ekpe) society.

You are just an illiterate privileged to use the internet.
that's a big lie. only small parts used nsibidi. and very tiny parts were invited to join ekpe. ever notice that no one else tries to claim aspects of your culture.

No one, NO ONE, is wresting anything from the Ejagham! It is all in your head.

By the way, the Ibibio-Efik also copied it from the Ejagham , yet I have never seen people get this worked up when Ibibio-Efik discuss Nsibidi as part of their heritage. It is only a problem when it is Igbos. Check yourself.

It is Latin alphabet, mate. See, it was adapted from the Greek alphabet by the Latins; and no one has the tiniest problem calling it the Latin alphabet. Pay attention; I already told you about that.

FYI, there is actually already an Igbo alphabet, based on the Latin one, of course. The Yoruba and many other African ethnicities also have their own alphabetical systems based on the Latin one. I'm sure the Italians wouldn't care if they knew.

Circles. Circles. Circles. For the umpteenth time, no one is claiming it is an Igbo creation. No one is claiming the word nsibidi is Igbo. Point to where the OP made those claims. You are only creating strawmen here. You are just making things up in your head. You and every other Akwa-Cross person that feels this way are.

And when people say they are reviving or have revived nsibidi, what they are referring to is the modern attempt to adapt a viable modern written script from the nsibidi system and make it a medium of communication outside the small closed-off Ekpe society. The people who I know who are invested in this project happen to be Igbo individuals.

Well, the English call their alphabetical system (which they adapted from the Latin Alphabet) the English alphabet: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_alphabet

And the French call theirs the French alphabet: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_orthography#Alphabet

I want to assure you that as I type this there is no uproar in Italy or in Greece about it. smiley

Adapted from. In other words they don't claim to have invented the system. That's the major difference. Like Japanese writing stemmed from Chinese. Big difference.

Perhaps you know of Igbos but the script has ever died. It was used outside of the so called closed ekpe society for many years. I grew up with it. It's secrecy largely died ages ago. It's present in art and tons of other places.

Efik people don't try to claim ownership of the script. That's the point. Talk to them. Nothing about reviving improving and all that talk. Many of the most stellar aspects of the culture stem from the qua (ejagham) that live in Calabar and is acknowledged. The only time you get this ownership dispute is when Igbos go on this claiming thing. Efik also have a different relationship to the qua than Igbos did/do.

Anyway this is getting overly repetitive.

From the very first page of this thread, credit was given to the Ekoi as the innovators of the system. It always amuses me when Akwa-Cross people get so worked up when Igbos discuss Nsibidi --- even after the Igbo have clearly stated that it was originally imported from outside Igboland.

Makes me wonder if Europeans get ticked off when Riverine men wear bowler hats as part of their culture. Or if Indians have a meltdown when we call 1,2,3 Arabic numerals. Even the Latin alphabet you are talking about was adopted by the Latin people (the Romans) from the Greeks with little improvements. You don't hear the Greeks crying and begging for credit. The credit is there in the history books; it is not going anywhere.

Nsibidi has been adopted and adapted into the fabric of Eastern Igbo culture for centuries now, and is part and parcel of Eastern Igbo heritage as much as it is yours. Find some way to live with that.
so what if it's woven in the fabric of Igbo culture. Despite centuries of use of the Greek alphabet the Europeans still refer to it as the Greek alphabet. Why the attempt to wrest this script from the ejagham ? What's all this about having used it for a while. In two centuries will the Greek alphabet now be Igbo because you've used it for a while. Or is it only applicable to small minority groups ?

I'm opposing those claiming that revived it. Those claiming because a small portion of Igbos imported the script that Igbos own it. I'm oppose those that imply the script somehow translates to Igbo and the general impression given that it's an Igbo creation. This is how culture is misappropriated. The word nsibidi isn't even Igbo.

And have you ever seen other Europeans claim tye greek alphabet is french or English ? It's properly attributed as the Greek alphabet. If the English tried to claim it I guarantee they'd be an uproar as there Should be. Merely stating it's an ekoi origin script and the going on to claim you revived improved and that it's Igbo through use is wrong and offensive. And I'll always call it out

And who was speaking of the general Igbo populace?

You just like seeking attention or what?

If a part of Igboland practices a culture, one is well within right to call it an Igbo culture. Knowing that Igboland is vast, a curious mind would then ask, what part of Igboland practices the culture.

You are not in Obong head, stop pretending you are and let him speak for himself.

Nsibidi is an Igbo culture, full stop.
thats deceptive. The culture was imported into a tiny part of Igbo land. It wasn't created by Igbos or practiced widely among Igbos. It's not a slur. Owners of the script merely want credit

Nsibidi's origin is generally attributed to the Ekoi people of southern Nigeria. Alternatively J. K. Macgregor claimed in 1909 that it is traditionally said to have come from the Uguakima, Ebe or Uyanga tribes of the Igbo people, which legend says were taught the script by baboons,[3] although one writer believes Macgregor had been misled by his informants.[6]

NASTYNASOSO:
Nigeria real net oil export revenue: 2010-2015 (under President Jonathan)

Oil price $110 per barrel average
Stable oil production at 2.4 million barrels per day

2010-$70 billion
2011-$99 billion
2012-$94 billion
2013-$84 billion
2014-$77 billion
2015-$21 billion (January-May)

Total-$445 billion

Source: OPEC Revenue Fact Sheet and Energy Information Administration (EIA), a statistical arm of the US Department of Energy for various years; and my estimates.

Outcomes in 5 YEARS:

a) External reserves declined from $47 billion in 2013 to $29 billion in 2015;
b) Savings depleted from $21 billion in 2010 to $2 billion in 2015.
c) Federal Government borrowed $2 billion to pay salaries.
d) 24 States of the federation bankrupt -could not pay salaries of workers, could not repay debts and other contractual obligations.
e) accumulated arrears of workers salaries and pensions, running into billions of Naira.
f) accumulated contractors debt such that all major construction works stopped.
g) NNPC technically bankrupt.
h) Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) at its all time low. Declined to $3.1 billion in 2015 from $8.8 billion in 2011
i) Nigeria's Credit Rating downgraded
j) Massive capital flight: industries relocating to neighbouring West African countries.

Nigeria real net oil export revenue: 2015-2017 (under PMB)

Oil price $45 per barrel average
Loss of 1.2 million barrels per day due to disruption by the Niger Delta Avengers

2015-$16 billion (June-December)
2016-$26 billion
2017-$10 billion (January-April)

Total-$52 billion

Outcomes:in 2 YEARS

a) External reserves boosted to $31.22 billion from $29 billion in 2015;
b) Savings increased to $2.29 billion from $2 billion in 2015.
c) Federal Government stopped borrowing to pay salaries.
d) 24 States of the federation bailed out- to pay salaries of workers, repay debts and other contractual obligations.
e) Settled fully accumulated arrears of workers salaries and pensions, running into billions of Naira.
f) Settled fully accumulated contractors debt such that all major contractors are now back to site.
g) settled fully oil importers claims amounting to $400 million.
h) NNPC restructured and now solvent and liquid.
i) Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) steadily picking up.
j) Agricultural revolution taken off such that we now have small holder farmers millionaires.
k) Looted funds recovered running into trillion Naira mark and ploughed back into the budget.
l) TSA the plugged loopholes of waste and swindle of public funds, now N4 trillion.
---to mention just a few

Bottom line:

a) Those looking for a magic wand, here it is. Using $52 billion or 12% in TWO years to achieve what Jonathan could not achieve with $445 billion in FIVE years.

b) Only an incorrigible hater will say that Nigeria is not making progress under the PMB administration with the acute resource constraint and the multiplying challenges facing the country.

I rest my case. May PMB/PYO succeed.

You don't understand how government works. Oil revenue isn't the money used to fund projects. It's not like a house where what you earn is directly related to the food, clothes and car you buy. So stop writing nonsense. Nations don't work the same way.

For instance capital projects like the trains built are built around the revenue they'll generate and that's how many such projects are funded.

You also fail to capture the overall growth in GDP in nigeria, as well as the growth in the non oil sector. So oil dropped ? How's that explain the recession we find ourselves in? What explains the massive devaluation of the naira and the inflation that puts food prices out of reach for many.

Your narrow minded obsession with oil prices is the very problem of nigeria. Even with obj oil prices were even lower that now. Why wasn't the economy this bad. In fact it was also a very fast growing economy. Also managed by NOI. Bottom line is your Buhari always destroys the Nigerian economy.

Finally note your figures on the oil prices are wrong. You pick the highest price in a given year and calculate the barrels supposedly earned with fake numbers. Not only does the prices of oil vary greatly even within a year so does the amount of oil produced. For instance oil is being pumped at 2.2 million barrels and there is zero avengers interruptions. So please don't come here lying or trying to misinform people

My brother, if one man can make a statement and it will endanger his brethren in a place that is supposed their own country, it shouldnt be their country. It means Nigeria is a waste of time. So what is the point of Nigeria when what one persons says one thing and others are endangered?

In as much as I like Biafra and remain a Niger Deltan we must not let afonja hatred to cause future problems for us.

We can talk of a separate nation today because of Biafra. We will need them in both political and economic alliance.

I believe in a true federalism setup we can check any tribe dominating us either as a separate nation or as a federating unit with biafra

Of course I prefer to be a minority in a larger nation. Any right thinking person prefers that . A bigger nation gives you room to move around and make alliances. Not in a country with a single large hegemony.

Should Nigeria seperate based on your groupings, here's what the nations will look like.

Arewa: I think any nation that comes out from the north can't do better than they are doing in Nigeria considering the fact that they are hugely at an advantage in Nigeria and have not done much. Without oil money, the poverty in that region will skyrocket which will give room to even more fundamentalism.

Niger Delta Republic: They have the natural resources but do they have the human resources to handle the resources? I think not. It's left to be seen how far they can utilize their reources as the area is very volatile to clashes still bordering on resource control. But if the leaders are very serious, things will turn around for the best, but i won't hold my breathe on that one.

Oduduwa Republic: I think this is the part of Nigeria that is most ready for a republic, truth be told. But whether they can maintain the omentum outside Nigeria without money coming from the Niger Delta is another story. Lagos is not all there is to this region. Even Lagos will suffer a lot of capital flight due to the seperation of Nigeria. But they can maintain a stable economy if they out their human resource in place.

Biafra: This unit will be the worst from the onset because of lack of infrastructure owing to decades of neglect from the federal government. From the onset, things will look gloomy. But they have the human resource ad very inventive. So, i think evidence of progress will start being glaring after about half a decade.

Why won't the ND have the Human Resources. Everyone has an opinion on whether we can manage our own resources. Nonsense

Instead you'll have Oduduwa/Odua or Biafra, Nok Republic (Middle Belt) and Arewa. Simple.

The only other possibility could be the Bini Kingdom which could have Urhobos, Ijaws, etc., if they don't want to be a party party country that is broke like Oduduwa would be

There will be a niger delta republic. We can come up with a different name if need be. We won't be joined with biafra
