Someone up there said this may be the beginning of the end of the church and I think I agree (to an extent). The SLBC first shot off with Jesus Women Prayer Band, an interdenominational prayer ministry for women. This was founded by this woman and was soon making waves in Edo state (especially). Later, the Godhead Fellowship (for men) was founded by her husband, and quickly followed up with a merger which birthed the SLBC denomination. Those initial fellowships however continued interdenominationally. It wasn't difficult for anyone to know which of the duo was the crowd puller as the Jesus Women attracted interest from far outside the state with many within Benin-city hardly aware of the Godhead fellowship. Thus, while the husband was the ascribed head, many regarded the woman as the spiritual mainstay of the ministry. It therefore had very minimal effect (if at all) when the husband died and she fully (officially) took over the running of the church. Now, the major outlet outside Edo state is the Abuja Church which, I understand, trumps the headquarters on all fronts structurally, and this was specifically built for her first son who has been elevated to the position of Bishop and even bears same name as his dad. Unlike his parents (mum especially), he and his white wife are hardly known outside the denomination... The problem with most of our pentecostal churches in Nigeria has been the tendency by the founders to run them like family enterprises, or for the founders' families to wrest control once they are gone, disregarding previous hierarchical structures. CGM, amongst others, suffered same fate with pull-out pastors more widely known today than the General Overseer. Let's see how the SLBC goes after Eunice Osagiede's exit. RIP, Woman of God... |
Funny decisions there! Well, go on... |
Ore, wia is you nau? |
Enjoying your story. Was in Tula once and remember a similar shop owned by an Igbo man. It was a one-stop shopping centre, but unlike it was during your time, there was a generator for charging phones (for a fee, of course). |
Nice one OP! Gombe! Lovely memories from this story! Camping in Mallam Sidi was hardly any fun for me; but unlike your time, we met fairly new structures by 2011, built by Danjuma Goje. And the airport was functional by then too. 10k from Akure to Gombe. Were you vaccinated against meningitis? Did you attend NCCF or NACC? I still remember the acronym G.O.M.B.E (God of my beautiful experience). I rep Kaltungo Town aka Snake Island. Ohibenemma, when will you share your experiences? |
Chai! But it's a good development that we're gradually evolving to the point where the rules actually work... Where institutions rule rather than vain men... Where the law is upheld even against pecuniary strongholds... Some landlords need to learn in this country... |
Did the wife make the cake "herself", or she commissioned a cake maker to do it? If it's the latter, I don't see how that detail is news nau... |
The way Nigerian Youths have united against the common demon of bad governance is amazing. Keeping the momentum up, I see so many positive changes in the nearest future. #ENDSARS #EndPoliceBrutality #EndBadGovernance |
Ladies and gentlemen... Let the story continue. I'm eager to see how it ends. |
Merciful71:You didn't add Side West. But can you guys stop quoting the entire post before commenting? |
nwaezeemmanuel:Of course! And it's rarely the cause of those horrible fishy smells... |
Abouwaza:Funny but wrong. |
I have seen quite a number of threads on this forum, calling out ladies they have had sexual encounters with in the past who emitted foul odours down south and the general consensus appears to have been that such ladies are lacking in personal hygiene. This is so untrue. A friend on this forum shared his experience with me. He'd married, a virgin, to a lady who wasn't one. But they had dated for over 3 years before the wedding, and had never been intimate. The wedding night was bloody, of course, as that channel had been unused for over 3 years (so much for our tradition of laying a white towel on the bed as virginity check!). For the guy, that night was a forgettable experience as he hoped to find his rhythm in subsequent encounters. To cut a long story short, subsequent attempts were riddled by this terrible smell from down there. Missionary was bad and doggy(the lady's preferred position) was a calamity. He knew this wasn't about personal hygiene as his wife was a sucker for cleanliness. They hadn't been intimate before marriage (with the blood and painful penetration enough evidence of mutual rustiness), so he ruled out an STD. It had to be something ELSE. They saw a medical officer who, after interviews, diagnosed BVG (Bacteria Vaginosis). The lady and her family lived in a typical low income, Lagos multi-roomed structure where about 3 mini-flats had to share a toilet. According to the man, she could easily have contracted it from there. (UNFORTUNATELY, this is the case in many of our apartments and school hostels). They were both subjected to the treatment regime, as, according to the medical officer, the man was already infected if he hadn't used a condom. Of course, he hadn't. As at when he was sharing his experience, the smell had become history. Many here have tried to compare our Nigerian ladies with the Whites, that's unfortunate. Hygiene wise, I think we are even better than them. How many times would the average Nigerian scrub himself with a wet towel and set out to work? Do you know that the Whites do that a lot? The vagina smell could even be caused by the attempt to scrub down below squeaky clean with SOAP. Many do that without knowing they are ignorantly destroying friendly bacteria that would have withstood hostile bacteria... I am not making a case for dirty ladies out there (dem many) or for the sexually promiscuous lot, BUT there are many more innocent causes for that foul smell down south. |
Wonders shall never cease... |
From the sketchy story up there, this is a case of TWO WRONGS... 2 extremes. |
Happy for him |
Mace0lane:Sorry, I never knew Akpabio was your father. This perfectly depicts where you are coming from and who you are. Ride on sycophant. I salute you, sir! |
Mace0lane:Some idiots must display their idiocy like it's an addiction or they won't find rest. What in my post informs a sycophantic leaning to either of the parties? Wetin happen to the NDDC probe? Is NDDC your second name or are you an armed robber? |
You can steal stupidly in Nigeria and get away with it once the right mouths get their share or are fingered. Wetin happen to the NDDC probe? |
Ragnnar:Pray, tell, what is Ogbane? I no be Bini man too. |
DoctorMugu:Wetin wa, doctor? |
So true! It's time to work. We all know there were issues, but no one wanted the suffocating godfather grip like Lagos is currently experiencing... |
So called godfathers must realise their relevance is determined by the servile attitude of those looking up to them. Oshio started overrating himself after his 18/18 LGs second term victory. Regretfully, that second term was spent amassing wealth and on the white elephant project of a new University in his hometown even while the old state owned university, only a few kilometres away, was crying for an infrastructural upgrade. Pride goeth before a fall and a haughty spirit before destruction. |
observer88:Divepen1, please it appears like the OP has been banned o! It's showing that he's updated, but the update is hidden. MODIFIED : Thanks to the mods, the post is now visible. @OP, congrats |
Cool, Ohibenemma, though I'm already ahead at the permanent site... |
Organs:I understand your pain, but those pastors didn't cause it. Or did they? Boko Haram's stance would have been harmless had it been just rhetoric, but it ain't. Now, who made Freeze the police and army? And if he is, why the cry to the gallery now? NB: I never defended Ibiyeomie's gaffe though. |
Lol. Nice move from Freeze, but that doesn't change the fact that he's an attention seeker... I won't defend Ibiyeomie's gaffe, but to magnify that while downplaying Freeze's desperate moves to garner attention from top Nigerian pastors is simply wrong too. Why can't he preach his distortions without pitching them as counters to Pastors Adeboye, Oyedepo and Co's messages? The guy got the attention he sought and is yet playing the victim to the gallery, so he can get more attention. Smart move! |
Chai! Thumbs up, OP! I'll be back for a review. Can you post "Magdalene" here too? |
Miracle1991:It's your likes who never upload their profile pictures. Are you a guy or a girl? |
