Even if they made crazy comments, you wouldn't know. |
good points Chris. Hence my argument in your concluding statement. I think that a healthy and successful marriage is one where the couples know that difficult times in this life are far better hurdled when you have a true team synergy to draw from - the strongest of which should be a solid, faith in their capacity to excel as a couple. You couldn't have measured this without years of experience of being together. |
abi ooh. ![]() Nairalanders, feel free to post any your crazy, funny, naughty, or rude remarks at your wedding or someone else's. |
In response, I don't think that there is particular way to guage a healthy marriage before the marriage even starts. I know people who did everything you describe yet did not marry each other or even worse, got and are now divorced. Marriage is about luck and willingness to be selfless, people change and often times realize that they can deal with many of the problems/issues as no marriage is perfect. But as I stated previously, there is an apparent way to guage a succesfull marriage and that is after years of being together. When the couples have the opportunity to reflect on thier expereinces. |
sistawoman:A man who stops taking calls is no gentleman. He should be ballsy enough to say or text, "hey buddy (she should get the hint that they're just friends), hope your day is going well. My girlfriend just returned and will be spending time with her." She should get the message. thugs - Bleep you and stop taking your calls. Or pass you to their friends. In response, its what men do not just thugs. |
This is what I don't understand. How can something take control of you, when you haven't given it permission to do so. I think you have to give spirits permission to possess your body and they should NOT be able to possess it without permission. |
n-guage my man. I feel you man. |
You have no predicament my friend. Stop being soo judgemental and start networking. Stop judging non-christians, let god do his job and get out there and meet people. |
So I suggest, take your time examining your mate. Don't rush or even better, don't get married as Paul advises in the book of corithians. |
You can't tell a marriage is successful until after years of being together when both couples have the opportunity to look back, reflect and ponder on thier marriage/relationship and can actually tell stories about thier experiences. You can however, telll a marriage is healthy when both husband and wife look fresher and younger everyday. ![]() Actually, women and men who stay in unhealthy marriage look older and stressed quickly, more likely to show evident signs of mental illness/delusions. |
Yes, god exists. |
No, because I don't want to make love to myself. |
These men will have daughters one day. |
If you have heard any crazy, funny, naughty, or rude remarks at your wedding or someone else's feel free to share here. ![]() |
Most couples are showered with congratulations when they announce their engagement, and compliments usually abound on the day of the wedding. But every now and then the couple may encounter a remark that's off-putting, to say the least. Whether it's a jab about wedding expenses or an assertion that the marriage won't last, some people can be truly tactless when it comes to wedding talk. We asked couples to share the rudest remarks they've heard wedding guests make. 1) "My father-in-law (who has been married five times) shook my husband's (his son's) hand as he passed through our receiving line and said, 'I hope you enjoy being married to a flight attendant more than I did!'" 2) "We had a distant family member ask if my fiancé had enough friends to serve as groomsmen and ushers. He volunteered to fill in if not." 3) "I went to a wedding recently where one of the bridesmaids spent the entire night talking trash about the bride and her family. She kept saying how the bride's dad looked awful and was obviously an alcoholic, and her sister (the maid of honor) had a bad boob job." 4) "I was at a wedding where, at the altar, the justice of the peace said, 'Time for the solemn vows,' and then said under her breath, ', even though we all know they're not so solemn.'" 5) "My friend got married to a wonderfully sweet man a few months ago, and at the wedding reception, one of the women got so drunk that she said, very loudly, 'Well, the good news about the groom being so hideous is that they should have gorgeous children! Looks always skip a generation!'" 6) "My fiancé's great aunt said, 'How dare you!' for picking her birthday for our wedding day. She then asked if we would move it, or if we would at least acknowledge it was her birthday and do something special for her-̶ that was the first time I met her!" 7) "Someone said, 'We can't make it to the wedding because of high gas prices.'" "I have a friend who married a man 15 years her senior. This apparently made no sense to the priest, who made many inappropriate comments during his homily, such as, 'A good wife adds 10 years to her husband's life. Let's hope she adds 20 to 30.'" 9) "I was told by my bridesmaid that I shouldn't be having my bridal shower in a place that I couldn't afford for my wedding." 10) "There was a guest who got angry at the servers for not getting one of each of the three flavors of cake, and they went to the bride to fix the problem. When the bride responded with, 'There is only enough for everyone to have one piece of cake,' the guest stormed out. Just think: A friendship ruined over a piece of cake!" 11) "At my wedding there was a woman (the mother of one of our out-of-town guests) who nabbed me at the reception and proceeded to tell me all about her son's wedding. She said, 'You look very nice, but my daughter-in-law was undoubtedly the most beautiful bride ever, and I've never seen a couple more in love than my son and daughter-in-law.'" 12) "My fiancé and I were registering for gifts when he saw an old friend's mother. He introduced me as his fiancée and told her our plans of getting married in June. The first thing out of her mouth was, 'Oh, is this good news?' Who says that?" 13) "At my friend's second wedding (her first one ended in divorce), a guest said to the bride (with the groom present and other guests within earshot), 'Well I hope you thanked your parents. I can't believe they gave you another lavish reception considering your first marriage didn't work out.'" 14) "At a friend's wedding, the mother-in-law saw her soon-to-be daughter-in-law in her ivory, strapless, embroidered lace wedding dress for the first time just before the ceremony. Her reaction? 'Is that your wedding dress?'" |
I applaud Soludo. |
Interesting observation. In the North, you are either extremely rich or extremely poor. There is hardly any middle class in the North unlike people in the South or East. |
Jimoh has an extremely valid point!!! |
Seun, did you (and family) attend foursquare gospel church in Sango-Ota. Your name sounds very familiar. let me know. |
Even if a christian did not befriend a sinner, a christian cannot avoid sin. Doesnt the bible state that we are all sinners and have come short of the glory of god. If christians did not befriend sinners, I'm certain that the next conversation would become a competition and discussion of holiness/ "how holier are you than the next christian" my problem with Nigerian christians is that most are extremely judgemental and this is among the reasons why there are many hypocrites in the churches and everywhere, like a good friend of mine said, almost every one in Nigeria goes to church/or attends a crusade. now tell me who and where is the devil. Plus I should add, most of the people Nigerians work for are not christians, dangote, okoya, the white men who own businesses in Nigeria, and co, A human being is an human being and I don't see how befriending a sinner will make one commit or aviod sin. This should be more of a question of your ideals and moral. |
I feel bad for his kids. |
Well, he is isolated from other prisoners for safety. |

Marriage is not compulsory but it is important esp. if u're a woman in the Nigerian culture. |
@ poster. God is taking a nap. Abi you don't want him to sleep. |
L O L |
@ good girl : any heterosexual man will do anything to take a woman to bed. |
I'm not exactly new here. ![]() |
never said that. ![]() |
We can finally breathe. Let Dangote's regime end with Obasanjo. |
LOL. no but I think that its a good motivating factor. Those are the two things that get Nigerian leaders and politicians in trouble in the first place. That is why they easily get tempted with bribes, money, and other forms of gifts. |
I think that it will be kool to be president of the most populous and resource-rich African nation. |
