jimyjames: What happened in 1966 was not a civil war , civil war started in 1967 , the genocide against Igbo civilians happened all over Nigeria including south west 1966, in south west when the northern soldiers were going from one neighborhood to another killing Igbos the Yoruba's helped them in pointing out who were Igbos and who was not , even on roadblock , and they rejoiced over it , just like they are rejoicing now after what happened in Lagos during election
They just won't stop at their dïck measuring contest. If you're unhappy with Sanwo-Olu getting re-elected, don't project your unhappiness on others thinking that everyone is like you.
Iamgrey5: Seun despite your best efforts to support the Obidient movement particularly Gbadebo Rodes Vivour towards the governorship Election in Lagos State, you are being attacked for a simple Advertisement placed on your platform that painted Labour in a bad light.
Seun you need to learn that the thugs that attacked the Igbos at the election on Saturday March 18th don't use Nairaland. Hence, they were not necessarily influenced by the advertisement. In addition, there were more provocative message littered everywhere on the social media spaces before and after the election.
Besides that advertisement slogan is not different from the slogan used by Godwin Obaseki in 2019 in Edo State. The slogan used was "Edo no be Lagos". The slogan was to antagonize Tinubu who is seen as a godfather in Lagos to stay away from Edo State internal politics.
The slogan "You can't rule Lagos from Anambra" is similar to the one mentioned above because it is meant to Antagonize Peter Obi the presidential candidate of Labour party whose Election victory at the presidential poll is main reason Gbadebo stood a chance at the governorship election. It's not meant to Antagonize all Igbos.
Seun even if you felt you were somehow responsible for what we saw on Saturday in Lagos, you shouldn't have openly taken responsibility. That is a terrible public relations disaster. You should have just donated the revenue made from the advertisement and move on.
Here is a link to video made by a vloger on facebook cursing and insulting Seun because of the apology he made:
Good for Seun. Na him dey write nonsense apology for narcissists. I'm cocksure he was gaslighted into making the apology by one of his flat! friends. He has been sounding anti-Yoruba lately.
Posts and threads that are abusing Yoruba are left to stand while a particular thread was hidden because the OP was asking "what has Yoruba ever gained from the Igbo". The OP was stating the obvious which is true starting with how Samuel Ajayi Crowther helped them authored the first Igbo language primer to Awolowo free education enjoyed by Igbos that relocated to the Western region to MKO Abiola and to how Tinubu started employing Igbo people to his cabinet and Lagos state civil service to how the Yorubas embraced the Igbos after the Civil War.
Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, the current governor of Osun State, says hi to you bigots.
One of governor Adeleke's wives is Igbo, Ngozi Adeleke. Adeleke's father was a senator married to an Igbo woman and that didn't stopped his people from electing him as a senator. That Igbo woman was Governor Adeleke's mother.
So also, Demond Elliott's mum is Igbo. Governor Akeredolu's wife of Ondo State is Igbo.
culf: I have been following discussions online and I'm wondering, with all these hateful words, anger, tribalism and so on... what then happen if court fault the election (or it's process) and either nullify or declare another person the winner...
We need to chill, we still have a long way to go, our leaders have achieved their aim and with what is going on I know they will only do worse, without accountability because we are not united and can't hold them accountable. Who then loses?
All this tribal war and sentiment is not needed. I once met an Igbo lady working in a Yoruba state owned establishment, employed by a Yoruba man and vice versa, now between that person and your tribal person, who should be your right hand person. All this tribal sentiment don't really makes sense, it should be who will do better, who will bring more benefit to us.
I feel pained seeing all that our youths are saying and problem they are causing for us. If this fire is not quench now, it may burn more deeply than we could ever think. Already, friendships, relationships and bonds are being broken...
Most Yoruba youths who voted against Tinubu and who want to vote SanwoOlu out, most of whose primary reason was because of the ENDSARS incident do not know that their "Messiah" sef get questions to answer as regards SARS activities while he was governor and he has never openly condemned them during the struggles that culminated into the ENDSARS incident.
A certain James Nwafor who was in charge of Akwuzu SARS in Anambra was declared wanted just after the end SARS wahala. He has been very much linked to Peter Obi, when the government set up an inquiry just like Lagos State did into his involvement, instead of Peter Obi to appear to defend himself he hurriedly got a court injunction to stop them from questioning him.
Our people have been brainwashed, the whole Obi movement is nothing but HOGWASH
Just listen to this video you will understand better, this was an interview aired on AIT even before Obi became the candidate of Labour party.
ChiefJusticeFuc: Let me use this autistic thread to post a topic I have been trying to create before it leaves my mind. NL servers are currently overwhelmed like Amaka's puna on a Friday night in a brothel.
Heebo reaction to Yoruba rejection vs Arewa quit notice to Igbos
This thing Yoruba people did to Heebo , which is simply : "don't meddle in our local politics", did not result in one hair being plucked from an Osu's flat head. But Osus are truly livid and upset to the point that they are now seriously (threatening as always) to leave the SW and Lagos in particular for their yeast.
Wow!
Yoruba rejection of heebo meddling really hurt the OSU.
But what of that of Arewa's ongoing court case seeking Heebo expulsion from Nigeria ? How did the osus react to this ?
Pin dropped silence .
Not one single counter . Not even a single sentence . All we got were dead silence.
This is the north that has shed heebo blood like fowl. This is the north that Igbos are adept in knowing when to do a temporary exodus only to return when things cool down.
The most shameless aspect was that the heebo community leadership in the north went on their knees begging to northern authority figures in Arewa to rescind and withdraw their quit notice order.
But Yoruba that has never done any targeted pogrom on the heebo or discriminated against them as they suffer in the fundamentalist moslem north are "the most evil racist tribe" for telling the heebo to take their votes to the yeast.
It seems the rejection by the Yoruba of the heebo really pain dem.
Could this be because they know deep down that they really fcked up with the only nationality that has been accommodating to them and that which was the only welcoming one to Igbos after the civil war ?
The heebo is now tearing his Nigerian passport over what transpired during the gubernatorial elections in Lagos.
They did not tear their passport when Obi lost.
No. They decided to tear their passport over the state elections in Lagos that had only Yoruba candidates on the ballot.
They made it clear that their renouncing of their Nigerian citizenship is over the outcome and conduct of the Lagos gubernatorial elections .
They did not tear their passport over the wanton killings by thugs in places like Anambra, IMO , Ebonyi , Enugu and Abia The thuggery in the yeast elections was of no concern to these diaspora osus rather it was that of Lagos , a Yoruba state and land.
Omo Yoruba , your rejection of the osu really pain am pass all the osus killed in northern Nigeria by abokis since 1945.
Nah your "OSU mind your business and stay off our internal politics " dey pain them.
What I do know now is that the average OSU is seriously in love with the Yoruba and his way of life and wishes deep down he was one.
Can you pls find in your heart to forgive the heebo and allow them a soft landing to cone back by simply telling them "ehn sorry. But you no say nah you start this thing, oya come back to Lagos ".
I first stumbled upon Nairaland in early 2007. I was impressed by the number of helpful threads ranging from career to health to business to family and education. Then, the politics section have not been reduced to conspicuous tribalism but there were some subtle jabs at one another tribe mostly targeted at the Yorubas and the Northerners - especially at the Hausa and Fulani because there is no tribe known as Northerners but it was obvious the two tribes from the north were targeted.
Tribalism gained much foothold after the 2011 elections towards the Yorubas while the owner of this forum looked the other way. Then after the 2015 elections, the tribalism volcanoes erupted. Those who have been at the receiving end of tribalists and tribalism before on this forum started returning the favour back to the senders who were its initiator originally.
They started matching those tribalists fire for fire, words for words, abuses for even more abuses. Those who started tribalism on this forum have successfully turned their once victims who were at the receiving ends of their vitriols before to tribalists.
Northerners don't know how to dominate before. But those people taught the Northerners how to dominate and become powermongers after the first military coup.
And now, Yorubas that don't know how to hate before. Those people have successfully taught the Yorubas how to hate.
No need to shalaye naa oga Seun. Medicine after death. Let me remind you that, there's nothing you can do to please people. Now you've opened yourself to more insults.
In all you do, please never be like Chinedu who was insulting his people and he is aligning with people who are against the interest of his own people.
And yes, it's true. Lagos can never be run from Anambra.
Charleys: An Igbo man can never marry a Yoruba woman.
I hope you know why, it's because they don't want their children to be ugly because your genes are inferior. The main reasons your elite marry Igbo women is because they need to clean up their genes and give birth to beautiful babies.
