PoliticsNasarawa Impeachment: State Assembly Directs Chief Judge To Set Up Panel by ochejoseph(op): 12:17pm On Jul 23, 2014
The lawmakers have moved to impeach the governor, Tanko Al-Makura
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has directed the state Chief Judge, Suleiman Dikko, to set up a panel to investigate Governor Tanko Al-Makura, accused by lawmakers of committing impeachable offences.
State lawmakers launched impeachment proceedings against the governor last week, accusing him of 16 offences.
A seven-man panel to be named by the chief judge will examine the charges.
The directive to the chief judge was issued by the speaker of the state assembly, Musa Mohammed, (PDP – Nasarawa Central), after a motion moved by the majority leader Godiya Akwashiki (PDP), representing Nasarawa Eggon West constituency.
The motion, which was supported by Mohammed Baba Ibaku (PDP), representing Udege Loko constituency, was unanimously adopted by the 20 PDP lawmakers in the state assembly.
The motion was however rejected by all four All Progressives Congress, APC, lawmakers in the house.
The investigative committee is expected to report to the House within seven days.
For months, Mr. Al-Makura, who is a member of the APC, has been embroiled in controversy with the PDP-led state assembly.
The lawmakers moved against the governor after the impeachment of the governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, last Tuesday.
The opposition APC accuses the PDP and President Goodluck Jonathan of being behind the gale of impeachments against its governors, allegation the ruling party rejects.
On Wednesday, the Nasarawa lawmakers arrived at the assembly with heavy security around 6.30am, and began sitting at about 10am for about 15 minutes before departing to Abuja.

My oh my!
Berem I don't think we should tribalise the issue Ibinabo has achieved a lot for Nollywood
1.37 producers and directors , 3 film institutes are to receive grants from the FGN

2.Actors now have representation in Key government intitution that has to to with the film industry !

3.Quality has also improved if you ask me , see what chimamanda did with her movie

I believe Ibinabo has earned her self a second term her colleagues are happy with the improvements they have seen and I believe in due time they will elect her for another term in office !

As for Mr Ibu we enjoy his laughs but I don't think leadership is for clowns !!!
CelebritiesAGN Presidency: Ibinabo To Mr. Ibu, Shut Up You Have No Education by ochejoseph(op): 9:27pm On Jul 22, 2014
President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Ibinabo Fiberesima has
responded to comic-actor, John Okafor’s comments that she should not re-
contest because of her alleged mismanagement of funds received from
President Goodluck Jonathan.
Ibinabo said that Okafor better known as Mr Ibu is detached from reality
and that, unlike him, she doesn’t beg state government or politicians for
money.
“Which money is he talking about? That is why I said he is detached from
the realities on ground. When we went to visit the President, there was no
money promised to anybody. We didn’t go there to beg for money as Mr.
Ibu is used to doing; we didn’t do that. They push you to the extent that
you say things that you don’t want to. I’m not about money, for once they
should stop and think, see what my team and I have achieved in two
years.”
“Mr. Ibu cannot vote for me, he does not have the power to do that. He
cannot even run for office because he is not a member, and I was
expecting to see the names of the members whom he referred to because I
don’t know them, and I hope they are members of the Guild because we
have actors who are not members.”
She also added that no amount of bad press and false allegations would
hinder her from running for re-election to remain AGN president.
“You should not because of your interest in a name feel you can come out
and talk off point to become relevant. When people say people should
have education, it is for this kind of reason so they will know how to speak
in public.”
“They think running to the press and running me down on Facebook and
others will deter me. No. I was not brought up like that, I’m a very
thorough breed. I will do what I have to do to get to where I am going. It is
the love that I get from people whose lives I have touched that keeps me
going, not those who don’t know where they are going, because every
sentence they make is money, where is the money?”

PoliticsMore Good News:30 Vehicle Manufacturing Plants Take Off In Nigeria by ochejoseph(op): 4:45pm On Jul 22, 2014
The National Automotive Council on Tuesday said 30
vehicle manufacturing plants would soon commence
operation in the country..
The Director, Policy and Planning, Mr Lukman Mahmud,
made the disclosure in an interview with News Agency of
Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
He said the Federal Government was working toward
facilitating the production of vehicle components at
competitive prices through the Nigerian automotive
industry and to create employment opportunities.
Mahmud explained that prior to the pronouncement of
the National Automotive Industry Development Plan in
2013, Nigeria had 14 existing plants across the nation.
“The protection and incentives provided to the industry
under the new policy persuaded 16 companies to
establish assembly plants,” he said.
Mahmud added that the motor assembling companies
would come in with complete and semi-knock-down
vehicles.
He said Peugeot Automobile Nigeria, Leyland, Fiat,
Volkswagen and Mercedes were the complete Knock-
down assembling plants that were forced to shut down
due to the influx of imported cars or and second hand
vehicles otherwise called “Tokunbo”.
Mahmud said the idea of Semi-Knock-Down and
Complete Knock-Down import was to address the
demand from the automobile market due to eventual
hike on tariff and levy of imported fairly used cars.
The director said the policy made provision for high
patronage from government and Credit Purchase
Scheme.
He explained that under the credit purchase scheme,
middle class Nigerians would buy cars at affordable
prices and pay back within 36 to 46 months and at single
digit interest.
He added that modalities were being worked out with all
stakeholders in the sector to curtail smuggling of used
cars.
Mahmud said that when stability was achieved and the
demand from market met, the manufactures would buy
the component parts locally.
“Plans are in top gear to revive the auto glass company in
Ibadan, car seat company at Kaduna, Nocaco Auto Wires,
exhaust pipes and many more parts and consumable
producers in the country,” he said.
The director told NAN that the council had established
material testing laboratory in Zaria, Kaduna State;
components testing laboratory in Enugu and emission
testing laboratory in Lagos.
“All these are to ensure that the components to be
produced are of international standard,” he said.
Mahmud said that a critical element of the policy was
under legislation at the National Assembly to avoid
policy somersault and protection of the investors in the sector - NAN. Source: Reno Omokri www.twitter.com/renoomokri More Good News About Nigeria: 30 vehicle manufacturing plants take off in Nigeria http:///xZaoPxDHuW

SportsGermany Damage The World Cup Trophy by ochejoseph(op): 9:47pm On Jul 21, 2014
The president of the German football federation, Wolfgang Niersbach, has admitted that their World Cup trophy was damaged during the team’s celebrations.

The champions were seen celebrating their win with, among others, Rihanna, who was pictured holding the trophy, despite Fifa directives saying that only winners of the tournament and heads of state can touch it.

And now Niersbach has told Der Spiegel that the replica of the trophy given to the winners did not escape undamaged from that night in Rio. “A small piece was chipped off during the celebrations. But don’t worry. We have specialists who can repair this.”

He added: “We have investigated the incident thoroughly but we did not get a result from that investigation.”

It is not the first time a trophy has been damaged, of course. The Schalke sporting director, Rudi Assauer, once dropped the German Cup from a bus and the Dortmund players damaged the Bundesliga trophy in 2012

Politics“I Never Conceded The Election To Fayose”Gov Fayemi Makes Incredible About-turn by ochejoseph(op):
By Dare Lawal

Kayode Fayemi, the governor of Ekiti state, was widely hailed and praised when he chose to “concede” to Ayo Fayose, the PDP candidate who defeated him in last month’s governorship election in the state. Fayemi was hailed as a different breed of politician.

His party however was not too impressed with his move. It has been making statements condemning the Ekiti election and now Fayemi, in an interview – the first since his loss – which he granted to Dapo Thomas, a journalist and university teacher who also writes for Sunday Sun, Fayemi said that he never conceded the election to Fayose and asked doubters to read the transcript of his post-election broadcast again.

“Anyone who understands the English language well would know that that speech was not the concession speech that many people are talking about. Yes, I have said I won’t challenge the election in court and congratulated Mr Fayose, but that’s not tantamount to accepting the result. That’s about saving Ekiti.”

First it was Kanayo O. Kanayo , Before we knew it Rochas "kidnapped" Nkiru Sylvanus and made her his aide de camp then the announcement from Kate Henshaw and now Desmond Elliot,

Se full tribune interview Below

When Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot  made his way into the entertainment industry 15years ago, little did he realise that he could become a household name. Scripted mostly as  lover boy, Desmond has proved his worth in countless  distinctive scenes and plots  which have won him numerous admirers and awards in the film industry.. Elliot, a graduate of Economics at the Lagos State University, speaks exclusively with JOAN OMIONAWELE,  on his career, controversies, style and other issues. Excerpts:

Desmond Elliot rings a bell now, briefly recall how it began?
I grew up in Jos, Plateau state, Nigeria. Jos  was a peaceful, wonderful and beautiful place. The environment was just conducive to producing  a lot of entertainers for Nigeria.

You sound rather romantic about Jos, what do you miss about Jos?
I miss the cold weather, the peace of the old serene atmosphere, Jos was just  homely

As an entertainer, what do you wish you could go back to do in Jos, the city you love dearly?
I want to do a film there because the climate is very good for film  production, there would be very good pictures from the rocks on the hills, I just hope peace would be restored there so as to encourage people to come and invest.

You are a star here in Nigeria, yet reports had it that you decided to relocate your family abroad last year what was that about?
I don’t know where people got that from, my family is here with me in Lagos, they only go abroad for holidays but we retain our Nigeria’s base. Holidaying abroad does not  mean living abroad. For now, we are where we are.

You  have been in  acting business for 15 years now, what in your opinion makes a good actor?
In addition to being talented, an actor needs  to be well- packaged. I guess you know what I mean. We are in an  exotic profession, so you need to come out looking exotic. In entertainment generally, packaging matters a lot,  that’s why they put you in the cinemas because  you are expected to appear larger than life. You must always look good and be at your best possible.

Can you let your fans into your latest plan?
I am working on my first Yoruba movie and I am really excited about it, we are almost rounding off  and would go to Oyo in a few days to shoot the remaining scenes. I guess people will like it. I can’t wait to complete the project.

You seem to be more engrossed with movie production than acting these days.. why?
Well I still do both,  I made my name in acting and I am not ready to quit that terrain now but movie production is more like an art, it makes me more of a different person, understanding each of the  characters on set  and being able to welcome new ideas and everything that comes with directing is amazing

In truth, how will you assess  Nollywood in its journey over the years?
Oh, it’s growing and it’s growing fast, what we need now are binding, enduring  policies. We do not have political (structural) policies. It should get into a point where more giant corporate bodies must be lured into coming into filming and this cannot happen when there are no structures. This is because the first thing any great investor will ask is the structure of organisations or bodies they wish to fund or collaborate with.

Are any of your children showing interest in acting?
They always tell me they want to act but when they see the stress that acting comes with, they always give up. It’s a lot of stress, but they like it but I tell to them that acting is not all-glamour.

What about your wife, what does she think about your job?
She is also in the industry. She distributes my films, she understands what I do

So, sometimes she doesn’t have issues with you?
Well she does, but never over my job

How does she cope with your female fans?
It’s been 15years, how she want take cope again after 15 years?

How long have you been married?
This is my 11th year

And what do you think is the secret to keep a celebrity marriage going?
Basically, it’s understanding. We must all understand that the make of a man is totally different from the make of a woman. A man must understand the priorities of a woman. Women love attention, they want to know that they are loved and there is security but for a man, all he is thinking about is money, while a woman knows that though you still need to provide for the family, she would still crave for attention. A man sees the question’ how are you as how are you’ but a woman sees how are you in three different ways. She begins to think, okay, why is he asking me how I am? At what time is he asking how are you? Did one word come before the other?

We learnt that you want to delve into politics. What experience have you to make a difference on the  state of the nation?
The current situation is very pathetic. I feel God has helped me thus far  and I want to give back  through politics that  will be favourable to the youths. The worst part of our national life  is that the level of corruption has not allowed youths to understand what it means to live a meaningful life . Just because of lack of knowledge of what to do, we are being sidetracked. There are no jobs, and issues like these lead to frustration.

A whole lot needs to be done on agriculture, every state in Nigeria needs to see how it can contribute to nation building. There’s a lot that needs to be done.

What accessories can’t you do without?
I think I can’t go out without a wristwatch

What’s your notion on tattoos
I wouldn’t wear one, but I have no problems with anyone wearing one

In a few years , what do you want to be remembered for?
It would be basically about giving back. I want to be known as a man who gave back to his society

There was this story about you dating two blood sisters, what was it about?
I don’t know. It was baseless. The ladies in question are my wards and I take care of them.

Are you blood relation with them?
Do I have to be related to them by blood?  We are family friends and we have been family friends for years. Their parents  are abroad  and whenever they are in Nigeria, they stay with me, so it was a baseless distraction and the person who did the article about me has since apologised.

There was also a death rumour about you last year, what happend?
It was actually a movie I did, which would be released later this year. I had to get the person who did the story and asked for his reasons.

How  do you cope with negative press?
I have come to understand that there is no way rumours won’t crop up. I have been in this field for the past 15years and there is no way one can be without one word or the other, people will definitely say things about you whether they are true or not.

After the hustle and bustle, how do you treat yourself
I just take a vacation and relax for a few days.

While the APC and their cohorts were busy denying Youths access to higher Education with their Satanically high school fees in universities within their states, the president was Busy Building brand New universities to accommodate more students who would otherwise have been denied admission by the current universities due to limited quota.

The president came up with twelve (12) Brand new Universities in less than 18 months. A record that will be near impossible to break !

The cumulative school fees paid by students in these Federal Universities in the entire 4 years they are expected to study there is not up to the tuition fees Paid by LASU students in one session.

(cool MATHEMATICAL SLAP: This simply has to do with the physical reconstruction of your face when given to you.Which have you received before?
(9) DISORIENTATION SLAP: Usually from someone more powerful than you e.g. a mother! When it is properly downloaded on your face, you'll develop temporary blindness and disorientation...victims usually go on all fours searching for their eyes on the floor like...I'm sure my eyes are somewhere on the floor!

Have a wonderful week cheers!

GOD BLESS NIGERIA
