PoliticsAfdb’s Assessment Of Poverty Innigeria ‘false And Political’,says Presidency by ochejoseph(op): 6:30pm On Aug 11, 2013
AFDB’s Assessment Of Poverty In
Nigeria ‘False And Political’,
Says Presidency
The
Presidency on Saturday in Abuja faulted the
African Development Bank (AfDB)’s report
on Nigeria’s poverty reduction efforts.
Special Adviser to the President on Media
and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, said that the
report was “devoid of truth and political”.
Abati said that it was inconceivable that
AfDB’s report came barely a month after the
UN gave an award to Nigeria for its efforts at
reducing poverty significantly in the country.
He recalled that the Food and Agricultural
Organisation (FAO), a UN body, at its
38th Session in Rome in late June gave an
award to Nigeria as one of the nations that
made significant progress in reducing
hunger.
The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwumi
Adesina, represented President Goodluck
Jonathan in receiving the award on behalf of
the government, he stated.
Adeshina presented the award to the
president during a Federal Executive Council
(FEC) meeting.
Abati said that such a negative report from
the AfDB some weeks after the FAO award
was “suspicious and laced with falsehood
and political”. (NAN)
PoliticsThe Increasing Relevance Of Nairaland In Nigeria's Politics by ochejoseph(op): 3:43pm On Aug 11, 2013
Nairaland Nigeria s top website has continued to leap from glory to glory ,the website developed Mr.Oluwaseun Osewa is poised to take its position as one of the fastest growing social networking sites in the world.
Previously ranked as # 2000+ globally the website has now overtaken thousands of western websites in the popular index.
Ranked # 923 according to the most popular websites a global ranking company for web traffic with South Africa’s news24 ,Which was dislodged as Africa's top website by Nairaland early this year coming far behind at # 1538 globally.

According to Alexa a leading provider of global web metrics Nairaland still retains her No 1 position in Africa with several other Nigerian website site in putting up a good show in the top 15.

With over 1.1Million registered users and counting Nairaland is set to take the world by storm following in the footsteps of the Chinese Renren and Pengyou which has over 100 million users.
The increasing relevance of Nairaland to Nigeria's politics is the focus of this piece.
Politically Nairaland has become the political Melting point in Nigeria where National issues,Political News and events are laid bare and e-political Gladiators takes center stage in their struggle to outwit each other and promote their political Candidates, ideology or view point.
The politics section of the forum with over 200,000 views daily and several thousand comments has become one of the hottest theatre's of Political e-WARS, with Missiles flying in all Directions as members struggle to identify with one party or the other in the ensuing political ''ruforufo'' .
Interestingly the casualties of these e-Wars live to fight another day as a user who might be a villain in a particular thread might be the hero in another .
The Presidency is not left out in this drive to tap into the vista provided by Nairaland as seen in the recent sharing of a Nairaland link by Media aide of president Goodluck Jonathan ,Mr Ruben Abati, Among other threads extolling the administrations achievements thus Far .
Ignoring Nairaland is to ignore over 1 million voters mainly youths, which in today's political calculations could be suicidal, hence the increase drive by politicians and political office holders to gauge the pulse of Nigerians Via the site.
However, the anonymity provided by the site has left several rooms for Abuse ,political prostitution, ethnic and religious bigotry among others
Nevertheless, Nairaland has provided Nigerians with a platform like no other ,a forum where they can share their pains ,a platform where they can exchange Ideas, a ring where they can fight without shedding Blood and a link where Nigerians irrespective of the Location around the globe can join the Conversation in our drive towards a better Nigeria .
PoliticsEl-rufai Accuses President Jonathan Of Ethnic And Religious Bigotry! by ochejoseph(op): 12:26pm On Aug 11, 2013
In an Interview yesterday El Rufai said “The moment anyone resorts to ethnicity and
religion, it is because he doesn’t have a better
ground. If you are performing and doing the
work of the people why do you need to
resort to that?
“It is really wrong and one of the tragedies of
the Jonathan leadership is that whoever
inherits the leadership of Nigeria will have to
spend the first or second year repairing the
trust and relationship between the various
ethnic and religious groups.
“Everything under Jonathan’s administration
has been reduced to these two things which
is unfortunate because politics is not about
religion neither is it about ethnicity.
“Politics is about delivering services to the
people and when you are good every ethnic
group and religion will benefit.
“Our religion is private to us, our ethnicity is
an accident of birth. This government have
adopted that as a political strategy and by
God’s grace the people of Nigeria have
experienced it and knows that,” El-Rufai
stated.
MY QUESTIONS
1.Has El rufai Forgotten his New ''God'' General Mohamadu Buhari is the No 1 promoter of Ethnic And Religious Politics Among Nigerians ?

2. Between the PDP and APC his party which one seems to be flying the kite of Ethnicity and Religion ?

PoliticsPresident Jonathan's Rating Improves Now 53%- Leadership Newspaper by ochejoseph(op): 8:55am On Aug 08, 2013
President Goodluck Jonathan approval
rating by Nigerians in terms of
performance increased by nine points in
the month of July 2013, recording a
remarkable 53 per cent after staying
stagnant at 44 per cent in May and June
this year.
According to the latest governance poll
results released by NOI Polls Limited for
the month of July 2013, the President’s
approval rating “increased by 9-points to
53 per cent after remaining constant at
44per cent in May and June 2013.”
This is the second best rating for the
president in the series of ratings of his
administration’s performance for seven
months now.
“In addition, the results revealed a slight
improvement in the situation of power
supply as more Nigerians claimed to have
experienced an improvement of 38 per
cent in July, compared to 32 per cent in
June, thus creating a positive effect on the
approval rating of the President.
The current results further affirm
previous findings by NOI Polls that
suggests a link between the perception of
power supply and the approval rating of
the president, the report obtained by

PoliticsChidi Lloyd Granted N10M Bail by ochejoseph(op): 11:38am On Aug 07, 2013
A Port Harcourt High Court Wednesday has granted bail to Chidi Lloyd who is standing trial on a six count charge which include conspiracy to murder after 15 days of incarceration. The Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Chidi Lloyd walked out of the Port Harcourt maximum security prisons at about 4:00pm Wednesday after he had fulfilled all the bail

conditions as directed by the Port Harcourt High Court .

Hundreds of his supporters thronged the prison yard in anticipation of his release. There was a joyous outburst as he walked out of the prisons.

This comes as the Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Worgu Boms, has advised the Police to arrest the following members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Evans Bipi (Ogu/Bolo Constituency); Victor Ihunwo (PHALGA Constituency III), Martins Amaewhule (Obio/Akpor Constituency I), Okechukwu Chinda (Obio/Akpor Constituency II) and Kelechi Nwogu (Omuma Constituency) for the role they played in the bloody confrontation that took place on the floor of the House on the 9th July.

Following an application for bail filed by Lloyd’s counsel Mr. Beluolisa Nwafor (SAN), the presiding judge, Justice L.L. Nyordee, after thorough legal scrutiny of the bail application which the prosecutor and the State Attorney General did not oppose, decided to grant bail to the lawmaker under stringent conditions.

Before granting Lloyd reprieve, Justice Nyordee observed that all the six count charges for which he is standing trial are criminal offences that are not punishable by death and are indeed bailable. According to him, even in a case when an offence is punishable by death, the court could still exercise its discretion to grant bail to an accused person pending the determination of the case. According to him, “the essence of bail is to grant the accused person temporary liberty to prepare for his defence.”

Justice Nyordee in granting Lloyd bail of N10 million, demanded that he deposit his international passport with the court and provide three sureties, who must be residents of Port Harcourt. The Judge said two of the sureties must deposit their photo passport with the court and must provide evidence that they own landed properties with certificate of occupancy in the State. Another condition of bail which the lawmaker must fulfill is that one of the surety must be a grade level 16 civil servant in the State who will have to provide a written letter from the head of his department.

After listening to the bail conditions which he applauded, lead counsel to the accused, appealed to the Judge to rescind the condition that Lloyd should deposit his international passport with the court. According to him, the request had become imperative to enable Lloyd travel aboard for medical treatment. The Judge however declined to grant the appeal.

Justice Nyordee has meanwhile fixed November 21, to hear the motion of notice filed by counsel to Lloyd..

In anticipation that he might fulfill all his bail conditions , some operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, laid ambush within the court premises in a bid to arrest Lloyd.

However, the inability of Lloyd to meet the bail conditions, thwarted the effort of the EFCC officials to arrest him as planned. And as he left the court premises, hundreds of youths from his constituency besieged the prisons vehicle that brought him to court as it drove off, in a bid to resist the EFCC attempt to arrest him.

Reacting to the EFCC plans to pick up Lloyd after the court granted him bail, the Attorney General urged the anti-graft agency to respect the subsisting court order that prohibits it from investigating the state finances.

Boms said the actions of the EFCC could be liken to a deliberate attempt to ridicule the country’s legal system.

“There are subsisting judgment of the Federal High Court that bar the EFCC from inquiring into the accounts of the Rivers State Government. it will be better if the EFCC should respect the laws of our land. This approach to legal system ridicules the justice system” he added.

Foreign AffairsRe: Massive Fire At Kenya's International Airport by ochejoseph(op): 8:11am On Aug 07, 2013
Thanks for the correction. from what I gathered the fire is still raging . May God send help the way of Kenyans
Foreign AffairsMassive Fire At Kenya's International Airport by ochejoseph(op): 7:33am On Aug 07, 2013
NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — A massive early-morning fire destroyed the arrivals hall at Kenya's main international airport Wednesday, forcing the closure of East Africa's largest airport and the rerouting of all inbound flights.

No serious injuries were reported, said Michael Kamau, the cabinet secretary for transport and infrastructure. Two people were treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire broke out on the 15th anniversary of the bombings of the U.S. Embassy buildings in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, in neighboring Tanzania, but there were no immediate signs of terrorism in Wednesday's fire. Kenya's anti-terror police boss, Boniface Mwaniki, told The Associated Press that he is waiting for the fire to be put out so that he can inspect the scene before making a judgment.

Dark black smoke was visible across much of Nairobi as emergency teams battled the blaze. Passengers reported a slow response by the under-resourced fire brigade. The fire raged for more than four hours before being contained, though flames still persisted two hours later.

"It was huge, the smoke billowing, and it didn't seem to be stopping," said Barry Fisher, who had hoped to fly to Ethiopia on Wednesday morning.

The fire gutted the international arrivals hall, where passengers pass through immigration and retrieve their luggage. The Kenya Airports Authority closed Jomo Kenyatta International Airport until further notice.

"We reassure international and local travelers that arrangements are being put in place to restore normal operations. The airlines are working to assist stranded passengers and advise them on the measures being put in place to resume services at JKIA," said Stephen Gichuki, the director of the Kenyan Airports Authority.

The Nairobi airport is the busiest in East Africa, and its closure is likely to affect flights throughout the region and beyond.

Kamau said the fire began at 5 a.m. in the immigration section of the arrivals hall. Inbound flights were diverted to the coastal city of Mombasa, he said. Kenya's Red Cross said that flights were also being diverted to Dar es Salaam, Entebbe, Uganda and the Kenyan cities of Eldoret and Kisumu.

As in many countries in East Africa, public sector services like police and fire units in Kenya are hobbled by small budgets and outdated or no equipment. Many of the responding units to Wednesday's fire were from private security firms.

A British passenger, Martyn Collbeck, said he was surprised that the airport wasn't shut sooner so that emergency vehicles could respond.

"When I arrived there were one or two fire engines parked outside the international arrivals. It spread very fast," said Collbeck, who had been scheduled to fly to London on an early morning KLM flight. "There were a couple of explosions which I think were a couple of gas canisters."

"I would have expected more fire engines to respond faster," he added.

There may not have been fire engines available to respond. The country's largest newspaper, The Daily Nation, reported last month that Nairobi County doesn't have a single working fire engine, and that three fire engines were auctioned off in 2009 because the county hadn't paid a $1,000 repair bill.

"It is a disgrace of biblical proportions that the entire Nairobi County does not have a public fire engine in working condition," the paper wrote in an editorial last month. "When (government leaders) were debating their budgets, they did not deem it fit to set aside money either to buy new ones or repair the old ones. But they did set aside money to build mansions for governors, big vehicles for county executives and other needs without a direct benefit to Kenyans."

The paper said the collapse of the fire department means responses to disasters is in the hands of private companies and the military.

Fisher, a trade specialist who lives in Nairobi, described the scene as chaotic.

"There was no one stopping any traffic going to the road to the airport," he said. "A number of fire trucks and ambulances were trying to negotiate their way through the lane. ... They were trying to weave their way through a solid two lanes of cars."

By early afternoon, passengers began to grumble that minimal assistance was being offered. Passenger Medr Gudru, a 66-year-old German, had hoped to fly home on Wednesday but the fire stranded him with no information, he said.

"This is too much. It was very nice here but this is just a mess," he said.

Kenya Airways, the country's flagship carrier, diverted five flights to Mombasa and said all of its transit passengers were being moved to hotels. The airline reported that one passenger and one employee suffered from smoke inhalation.

Jane Waikenda, the director of the Department of Immigration Services, sent out rapid-fire messages on Twitter in a bid to soothe frayed nerves.

"I would like to reiterate that we doing what must be done to have full immigration services up," she wrote, before adding moments later: "you can never please everyone. We appreciate being held accountable as we strive to serve all Kenyans fairly."

PoliticsCourt Vacates Order Stopping Pdp’s Planned Convention by ochejoseph(op): 6:57pm On Aug 02, 2013
Court Vacates Order Stopping
PDP’s Planned Convention
An Abuja High Court in Apo yesterday vacated
its earlier order stopping the People’s
Democratic Party (PDP) from proceeding with
its planned mini convention to elect fresh
hands into its National Working Committee
(NWC).
By an order made yesterday by Justice
Suleiman Belgore, the path is now clear for
the party to proceed with arrangements for
the convention.
Justice Belgore elected to vacate the order
yesterday after three aggrieved PDP members
– Abba Yale,Alh. Yahaya Sule and Bashir
Maigudu – applied to withdraw the suit they
filed, challenging the composition of the
party’s NWC.
The court had on July 25 this year restrained
the PDP from conducting any form of
convention “whether special or ordinary,” for
the purpose of electing any officer into the
office of the PDP pending the determination
of the suit by the aggrieved members of the
party.
Yesterday, while moving the application for
withdrawal, plaintiffs’ lawyer, Friday Nwosu
told the court that his client have elected to
explore the party’s internal mechanism in
addressing their grievances.
He said the plaintiffs, being loyal party men,
who wish to remain in the party, have
resolved to withdraw their case and table
their grievances before the party’s National
Reconciliation Committee headed by Bayelsa
State Governor, Seriake Dickson.
Nwosu according prayed the court to strike
out the plaintiffs’ case.
Lawyers to the defendants (PDP and its
National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur),
Tobechukwu Nweke and Raphael Oluyede did
not object to the plaintiffs’ decision to
withdraw their case.
They however urged the court to dismiss the
case rather than strike it out.
Ruling, Justice Belgore said he was satisfied
with the application for withdrawal and all
the necessary accompanying documents filed
by the plaintiffs.
He held that the application, having been
brought under Order 27 Rule 3 of the court’s
Civil Procedure Rules 2004 the court was left
with no option than to allow the withdrawal.
Justice Belgore elected to strike out the case
as against dismissal, on the ground that no
major steps have been taken in respect of the
substantive suit.
“The suit is struck out. The earlier order
restraining the defendants from holding any
convention is vacated. That order is now
discharged, as it crumbles with the striking
out of the suit,” the judge held.
He however frowned at the decision by
Nwosu to petition the court’s Chief Judge,
complaining of experiencing difficulty in
withdrawing the case.
The judge said it was wrong for Nwosu to
have written such petition even before his
withdrawal application was brought before
the court.

PoliticsJonathan ,governors Search For Tukur's Successor by ochejoseph(op): 7:38am On Jul 30, 2013
There are indications that President Goodluck
Jonathan and governors elected on the platform
of the Peoples Democratic Party have started
searching for a new national chairman to replace
Bamanga Tukur.
The PUNCH learnt that the President had acceded
to the long time demand of the governors that
Tukur be replaced as a panacea for the crisis
rocking the party.
Our correspondents learnt in Abuja on Monday,
however, that while Jonathan had agreed with
the request for removing the second republic
governor of the old Gongola State as chairman of
the ruling party, the President had yet to be
satisfied with any of the possible replacements
being suggested to him
Some of the names said to have been suggested
to the President include those of a former
Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu;
and Dr. Musa Babayo, who emerged as the PDP
chairman at the North-East congress in 2012.
It was gathered that while Jonathan rejected
Mua’zu because of his closeness to former Vice-
President Atiku Abubakar, the President was said
to have expressed the fear that Babayo was “too
close to the governors” and could hijack the
party from him.
Atiku’s son, Mohammed, got married to the
daughter of Mua’zu, Malama Badariya, in June.
A member of the PDP National Working
Committee who spoke in confidence with one of
our correspondents said, “From all indications,
both the President and the governors have
agreed that Tukur should go.
“Although the governors have tipped Mua’zu and
Babayo, the two candidates are not acceptable to
the President.
“Jonathan wants Tukur to stay until a good
replacement is found for him. He does not want
to lose the control of the party because of the
governors’ desperate move to sack Tukur.”
As a ploy to stall the removal of Tukur, the
President was said to be insisting that the
governors should wait for the outcome of the
party’s mini-convention before taking a final
decision on Tukur.
The PUNCH had reported on Monday that five
PDP governors – Murtala Nyako, Adamawa;
Rabiu Kwankanso, Kano; Babangida Aliyu, Niger;
Sule Lamido, Jigawa; and Aliyu Wamakko, Sokoto
– at a meeting with the President on Saturday
insisted that Tukur should resign before the
convention and all National Working Committee
posts be declared vacant.
The party’s mini –convention, where some
national officers of the party including the
Deputy National Chairman are to be elected, has
been fixed for August 31.
As a ‘Plan B’, The PUNCH learnt that the President
was banking on the emergence of Chief Uche
Secondus as deputy national chairman to check
Tukur.
The second leg of the plan, it was learnt, would
see the President appointing Secondus as the
deputy to continue to act as national chairman in
the event that Tukur is still pushed out after the
convention.
Jonathan, under the plan, would refuse the
possible appointment of a substantive national
chairman thus allowing Secondus to conduct the
party’s presidential primaries for the 2015
election.
Secondus, a former National Organising
Secretary of the PDP, hails from Rivers State and
he is a close ally of Jonathan.
He aspired to be the deputy national chairman
during the last national convention of the party
but did not receive the backing of his state
governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
Tukur’s spokesman, Oliver Okpala, on Monday,
refused to respond to the latest development but
promised that “an official statement” from him
would be issued on Tuesday (today).
He said, “Tomorrow (Tuesday) morning I am
issuing an official statement on the meeting of
the governors with the President.
“You will also get the reaction of the national
chairman to all the issues raised, including the
call for his removal.”
In a related development, the PDP has recognised
Mr. Ken Emeakayi as the chairman of the party in
Anambra State.
A statement by the Acting National Publicity
Secretary of the party, Mr. Tony Okeke, said the
decision to recognise Emeakayi was taken after
consultations with major stakeholders in the
state.
Okeke appealed to members of the party in the
state to work with Emeakayi in order for the
party to achieve a desired result in the
forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The statement said, “Following comprehensive
consultations with the major stakeholders of our
great Party in Anambra State coupled with the
desire to have a strong and united party to
effectively reposition the fortunes of the Party as
the November 16, 2003 State Governorship
Election approaches, the leadership of the Party
hereby announces the decision to recognize Ken
Emeakayi, as the substantive Chairman of the
party in Anambra State.
“All members of our party in Anambra State are
hereby directed to work with Mr. Emeakayi
towards achieving victory at the forthcoming
governorship election in the state.”
Meanwhile, the security situation in the country,
it was learnt, would be the subject of discussion
at a proposed meeting between former President
Olusegun Obasanjo and the PDP governors.
This is coming as two governors from the South-
South zone met with the President of the
Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo
Oritsejafor, on the lingering crisis between
President Jonathan and most of the governors.
The meeting with Obasanjo, said to have been
brokered by some of the aggrieved governors in
the party, was also said to have been sanctioned
by Jonathan.
One of the PDP governors, who confirmed the
proposed meeting said he was however yet to
receive his own invitation.
The governor said, “Yes, the meeting with former
President Olusegun Obasanjo would hold in
August, though I have not received my own
invitation.
“The meeting is going to discuss the crisis in our
party and the Nigeria Governors’ ‘Forum. It will
also look at the crisis in Rivers State.
“We are all scared about what is happening in the
country, especially with a statement by a former
Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, that
the nation’s democracy is at risk due to the
Rivers crisis.
“That was a statement that made some of us to
wake up from our slumber and start moving to
address the matter. The former head of state is
not a flippant person and does not talk
recklessly. We have to take him seriously.”
The governor also confirmed the meeting
between the President and the Governor of
Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, in Abuja on
Friday night.
“Such consultations will continue and I can tell
you that we are serious about saving this
democracy,” he added.

Pastor’s wife catches him with
female prayer partner, seeks
divorce
Posted by Y! Staff Contributor

An embittered pastor’s wife, Mrs. Rebecca
Bamidele, has narrated to an Ojo Customary
Court in Lagos, south-west Nigeria, how she
caught her husband, Pastor Israel Bamidele,
with a female prayer partner in his bedroom
overnight, an act which she said contributed to
the breaking up of their matrimonial home of
15 years.
Her husband, a school proprietor and pastor,
filed a divorce petition against her accusing
her of infidelity but Rebecca brought evidence
to the court saying that although her husband
has accused her of infidelity,it was Bamidele
who brought his prayer partners to the
bedroom leading to the crash of her marriage
and also the breakup of the female prayer
partner’s home.the female prayer partner was
also sent packing from her matrimonial home.
PM News reports:
Pastor Bamidele filed the divorce petition
against his wife, claiming frequent fighting,
lack of care and that he no longer loves
Rebecca who bore him three children.
When asked the position of her husband’s
family on the crisis that engulfed their
relationship, Rebecca said she once travelled
to Osun State in southwest Nigeria to meet her
mother-in-law but the old woman said she
should allow her husband marry another wife
because her father-in-law, who is a prophet,
married three wives, adding, “when I returned
to Lagos, my husband quarrelled with me,
saying why should I go to his homestead in
Osun State to inform his mother about issues
in our marriage in our Lagos home?”
Apart from the issue of hosting his prayer
partner in his bedroom, Rebecca alleged that
she caught the pastor sleeping with his school
secretary for about a week but she could not
complain because her husband would beat her
silly.
She said, “Anytime I complain, my husband
will say I was becoming too stubborn for him.
He would say in Yoruba, ‘ila ti n ga ju onire lo’,
meaning, the okro plant was becoming taller
than the farmer.”
When the court asked about the role played by
other pastors and elders in the crisis, Rebecca
said Pastor Bamidele is the founder and
general overseer of his church and the other
leaders were surbordinated to him because he
appointed them.
The court president, Prince Hakeem Tunde
Oyekan, adjourned the matter till 27 August,
2013 for judgement.

Politics12 Out Of 27 Pro -amaechilawmakers Betrayed Amaechito Impeach Amachree by ochejoseph(op): 7:30pm On Jul 28, 2013
Despite the public declaration of support for
Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, 247
U reports can authoritatively report that 12
out of the 27 lawmakers behind the Governor
switched camp when it mattered most to
impeach Rt. Hon. Otelemabama Amachree as
speaker.
The register of proceedings in the House on
the day lawmakers engaged in a free for all
following the impeachment of Amachree
shows the names of lawmakers, who
participated in voting out the speaker, and
those who did not vote against him.
Investigations revealed that the moment the
leader of the House, Hon. Chidi Lloyd saw
that the impeachment of Amaechree could
pave way for the impeachment of Amaechi, he
quickly left the House, and called the
Governor, who came with a team of security
operatives.
A source who witnessed the impeachment,
said that the sergeant at arms was present
when Amachree was impeached, but did not
turn up when Amaechi forced his way into
the House.
“There was an impeachment. The former
speaker was impeached because 12 lwmkaers
supporting Amaechi joined the five that were
against him. And the way things went, things
were moving smoothly in the House until
Amaechi entered. This gave Lloyd the
confidence to bounce on Chinda,,,” the source
said.
That position is in line with that of Hon.
Evans Bipi, who claims to be the new speaker.
He spoke in Port Harcourt shortly before he
travelled to London to visit Hon. Michael
Chinda, who is recuperating at the Bupa
Cromwell Hospital.
He said: “If we are five and a minority in a
House of 32 as it is being alleged, then why did
Governor Chibuike Amaechi run to court to
seek the protection from being impeached?.
So, the question is: can five in the House of 32
impeach a Speaker or a governor? We have
the attendance list of the lawmakers that
signed the impeachment of Dan-Amachree
and it will be made public at the appropriate
time.”
Bipi, who spoke shortly before leaving for
London to visit Hon. Michael Chinda, who is
recuperating at the Bupa Cromwell Hospital,
also said he was ready to work with the
Governor as speaker.
He said: “I am fully prepared to work with
Governor Amaechi as the new Speaker of the
Rivers State House of Assembly. Contrary to
wide-spread views in the public domain, I
have no intention to impeach Governor
Amaechi before his tenure elapses, in May 29,
2015”, he said.
“I want you people to believe me: Dan-
Amachree was truly impeached, after which, I
was duly sworn in as the new Speaker, and I
also formally made my inaugural speech as
Speaker, sitting on the Speakers chair with
the mace, the symbol of authority in my front.
You can verify from the attendance list of all
the legislators that were present in the
chamber of the House on that Tuesday
morning.
.
“I was formally led into the chamber of the
House by the Sergeant –at-arm, carrying the
mace, as it is the procedure with the conduct
of official proceedings of the House of
Assembly. If Dan-Amachree was not truly
impeached, why did the then Leader of the
House, Chidi Lloyd, run to the Government
House, to alert Governor Amaechi, that we
have taken over the leadership of the House?
“Lloyd ran to government house to appeal to
the governor to come with his security aides
to enable them chase us away, so that Dan-
Amachree can hold a sitting before television
cameras that will be aired to viewers, to
counter our successful impeachment of the
former speaker, earlier in the day”.

I guess he is trying to reach out to the aggrieved governors. Airing of grievances, Back-room deals, political horse-trading and compromises are part of the political process/world. OBJ and IBB still remains a behemoth of some sort.

PoliticsJonathan Meets Five Northern Governors (live updates) by ochejoseph(op):
President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday met
with five northern governors behind closed-
doors at the Presidential villa, Abuja.
The governors at the meeting included Kano
State Governor, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso,
Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako and
Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu.
Also at the meeting were Yobe State Governor,
Ibrahim Geidam and his Borno State counterpart,
Governor Kashim Shettima.
The details of the closed-door meeting were not
made public.
Some of the northern governors recently met
with some former leaders including former
President Olusegun Obasanjo and former
Military President, Ibrahim Babangida.

Their Conditions for Peace (update)
1. Sack Tukur or Loose our support for 2015

2 we would not have anything to do with the PDP until he is Sacked

X-RAY of the Five

Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at a meeting of the northern Governors forum said he and no
other person Nominated Jonah Jang as a
consensus candidate for the position of NGF
chairman ,his decision was later endorsed at
the PDP governors Forum as such
Kwankwaso's decision and actions formed the
foundation of the turmoil and fiasco we are
witnessing .
Its fascinating to now see the same man who
started it all Gallivanting all over the Nation
crying and asking others to come and quench
the fire he started all by himself.

Dr Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu was the custodian
of the collective decision of his colleagues at
the Northern Governors forum ,Men of
honour are men whose yea is yea and nay is
equally nay .
This cannot be said of the Chief servant who
seem to have learnt some tricks from his
tenant the Maradonna of Minna.
He abandoned the collective decision of his
house for a pot of pourriage which was soon
to go sour .
Today the chief servant rather than
concentrate and deliver the dividends of
democracy he has denied the Good people of
Niger state for 6 years ,he is busy stocking the
embers of discord between the north and
south.
His membership of this clique is well deserved.

When we paid a visit to Aliyu Magatakardan
Wamakko 2003 as deputy Governor his office
was at best a glorified local government
chairman's office owing to the disagreement
between him and his Boss the then Governor
of Sokoto state Dr Athahiru Dalhatu
Bafarawa .
This PHCN staff flogging governor has simply
forgotten his humble beginnings in his quest
for Power.
This man who should be networking with the
DPR and NNPC so that Sokoto (Birnin Shehu)
could start ripping the fruits of 13 percent oil
derivation is jumping into the next available
private Jet on a mourning expedition.

Gov Murtala Nyako seem to have something
for fights from his cabinet to Atiku ,from
Tukur to Jonathan , From NJC to senior
Judges in the state judiciary anywhere there is
disagreement you are likely to see this man
Even when the president did him a favour by
declearing a state of emergency this man
preffered to be consumed by Boko
haram, nothing seem to placate this fellow his
membership of this group of mourners is
therefore not surprising .

Sule Lamido is a Man of few words, except for
the recent escapades of his Sons with the EFCC
and the police he has kept a very low profile .
However His hunger for higher office has
completely transformed the him as such his
membership of this group is rather surprising.
One thing that is common among this five
governors is that while the governors in their
second term in 2011 opposed Jonathan's
Presidential ambition in 2011 they all
supported him then as first term Governors
with the hope that the Ijaw Man will Vacate
the Villa by 2015 .
This crisis came early and at a good time for the PDP as it will help the party resolve its problems and put its house in Order ahead of the General in 2015
