Hey Guys.
I arrived Vancouver yesterday. It was a long trip. Getting study permit is straight forward. You drop your passport and letter, they ask basic questions, you both smile and thats it.

humanshado:

Congratulations on your trv. I am also joining UBC in January 2014. I tried getting a room through kijiji.ca and craiglist with no success. They won't even respond to you, probably because I always mentioned that I am coming from 9ja - you know we a very 'popular'. I finally resigned to committing to university campus room which is way expensive ($794.50 a month), though I intend to stay for just one semester. I will advise you to:

1) Book few nights in bed and breakfast in Dunbar, Point Grey or Kitslano. These neighbourhoods are close to UBC campus with bus routes. From my experience with winter in the UK as a new student, it is fatal to arrive without somewhere to get some warmth. Another thing also at point of entry, the guys will want to see where you intend to live. Try www.booking.com for hotel booking. The good thing about this site is that you don't have to pay anything when you book.

2) Try checking off campus adverts on Student union site (AMS Society). There are various range of student friendly room. This is the only site I got responses and even some advice from some landlords. All the best.

When are you jetting out?

Howdy Humanshado.
Thanks for your help. Appreciate it.I have done the booking. I have been checking the ams too. Oh boy na serious work. I plan to just do what I will on arrival sha. When are you leaving 9ja?

Hello Guys. I did my medicals and I also got instructions to pay fees and board. I have two issues here.
1. My school you pay online and only when it tells you you have money to pay. When I was given the option, I paid (4k) now I mailed the school to tell me the balance and enable me pay somehow so them fit give me letter to CDHC. They have not responded.

2. I do not intend to stay on campus and I wanna get a place close to school (UBC). They also said I have to be on ground to sort that one out. How do I explain this to CDHC?

Thanks guys for the congratulobia. Chrigo, I hail oh.

Phones / Re: Weak Points Of Blackberry Phones by OchukoII: 4:46pm On Jul 24, 2012
Firstly, there is no need to be rude while making points. The fact that you do not agree with a person's view does not make the person stupid. In fact, the mere fact that you think everybody has to think like you says a lot about your thinking and mental capacity. Most folks need to learn how to talk to others on social media. Sometimes I wonder the kind of children that are being raised by people without verbal control.

Now to my contribution. Say what you like, have you considered that the makers of blackberry (RIM) are bleeding profusely (financially)? If they are loosing money, it has to be a testament to their product. Why is apple not bleeding? (Even though its not a fair comparison, they still make profits on the iPhone).

All "smartphones" have issues with batteries majorly because the CPU relies on something to power it and the more data you transmit the more work the CPU does. As for being able to connect you blackberry to a laptop and browse please just upload a detailed step by step process because I like to consider myself as "technologically smart" and I have been unable to do this (on the MTN and GLO networks). I happen to have a friend that is an employee @ AIRTEL and he says the same holds true.

You can use the PUSH functionality (emails and d rest) on a blackberry but obviously the poster was looking for functions that are limited to the blackberry range. In all truth, even the iPhone does not have ANY function (to the best of my knowledge) that cannot be replicated on the Android platform (Some may be better executed). To support this point, simply refer to all the litigations between Apple and Samsung.

Truthfully, I think the only remarkable feature on the blackberry is the BBM. That's why most people buy it (AND YES INCLUDING CELEBS). I was rather disgusted when I read that celebs buy phones for technical functionality (as insinuated). A celeb is simply a more popular version of you joor. Even Bill Gates buys his phone based on how useful it will be for communication (I THINK). I don't think anybody buys phones for scripting or developing new technologies.

Thanks.
