Agriculture / Re: This Could Be The Reason Why Our Farm Was Poisoned. by ochusdb(m): 8:21pm On Nov 04, 2022
MideMrPossible:

.

I will advise you to get a CCTV camera preferably the one powered with solar. Don't go aggressive with the farmers, at least for now and remember that who ever poisoned your farm might do it again so always be at alert.
Spend money on gadgets, equipment and things that will prevent thief and losses.
A man who invest money on security gadgets that preven thief and losses but has only 20 goats is far better than another with no security infrastructure in place but have a 100 goats.

Final advise is consistency is the key, do not "over invest" thereby later finding yourself in debt. if your capital can only bring 2% growth then work with that, be realistic and at the same time have a touch of optimism.

Good look, looking forward to your farm growth

CHANGE
We all want a good change but I doubt if we Nigerians know what that even means.

Look at how we all forgot it is not in the place of an army under democratic rules to guide traffic let alone to dish out punishment for breaking traffic rules.

I totally condemn what the driver did, handling the driver to road safety or it's equivalent would have been better.

The leaders are not just the problem, the people they lead are all part of the problem.

All they wanted was for police brutality to #end

All they wanted was for corruption to #end

They cried and begged for good governance that will benefit their children and those unborn.

They slept in the streets for weeks all for a better Nigeria.

And in their dreams was a nation with good roads, hospitals for the rich and poor, Food they could afford, Infrastructure they did be proud of.

All they ever wanted was a Country to call HOME

And in return they were Murdered.
Their only offence was demanding for their RIGHT.

The problem with Nigerians is that they don't know their real problem. embarassed
When you heap blame and complain about poor Federal governance alone but forget your LGA chairman, your elders and state government EXIST.
We go to Church/ Mosque praying for a good road, hospitals and schools still on election day is either we are at home or somewhere chanting
Sai baba, pdp, apc.
The solution to Nigeria is right in front of us but tribalism, religion and ethnicity wont LET US SEE IT.

Well all I can say is ANOTHER ONE.

Jkyoung:
I type this with tears in my eyes. I decided to share say this here because if I need somebody to hear my voice, as I approach my end.
If I write this on Facebook, family and friends will see it and panic will set in, I don't want that. Devoid of our differences, Nairaland is also family to me.
The choices I made in life are mine, but the forces at work are overwhelming. I was weak to their manipulations.
All I ever wanted was to be an Engineer, to make mama proud and take care of my siblings.
Believe me I have Love in my heart. I wanted to just be a better version of myself but nothing seems to work.
When it seems like I am making a little progress, my desires are there to remind me that I am only but a prisoner.
It appears to me that I was created a failure. I failed my family once again, myself, Society and God almighty.
Now I am not afraid of death, I am only sad as I picture the face of Mama, Papa, Brothers and sisters crying while I lay motionless oblivious of everything( I know I will surely hear their wailing from the other side)
I don't want to be judged, but that isn't really my choice to make.
The next 3 weeks will be very crucial to my existence, if I survive it, then I will know that I will grow old and reach 95( I have always told anyone that cares to listen that I will live to 95).
I know they are not reading this now, and nobody that knows me personally is; I just want to tell mom that I love her. To dad; All I wanted was to make him proud. To my brothers and lovely sisters: I love you guys, take care of mom and dad and succeed where I have failed.
To my Nairaland family, God bless you all. I will miss the Afonja's, Igbos, Nyamiris, Brown roofs, red mud, Arewa's(do they even have any special insulting name like the rest of us?)Lala and his snakes, the feminists( feminists are wonderful people, thank God they don't breed well). Lol

I sincerely pray I survive this. Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, Save Us and the whole world.

Do you really think ur problem is the worst? Lol
I know of someone who was born healthy but as years passed by it's either he is buying acid reflux suppressor today, thinking of taking surgery on his colon or talking about a periodic double vision, I mean this guy has lots of problem that hinder him of accomplishing his dreams yet he is the one telling me Giving Up is not an OPTION. Coincidentally he is also an Engineer (Civil Engineer)

Bro, someone once told me "at the End, it's not Your Success that Counts But how your Story ends."
Your STORY of how you kept moving despite the challenges and failures will be a million times more important to Someone in Your Shoes (potential suicidal) than success stories without ups and downs. So live for the story and not just the success.
Politics / Customs Collects N1.1bn From South-west Importers In Six Months by ochusdb(m): 4:44am On Jul 02, 2020
The Strike Force of the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), in Zone ‘A’, said it has raised a Debit Notes (DN) worth more than N1.104 billion from importers of cargo that pays lesser Customs duties into the Federal Government coffers from the six area commands of the service in the South West.

The Co-ordinator of the Strike force, Assistant Comptroller Abba Kakudi, in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday said the amount generated through the Debits Notes was in the last six months.

According to him, “the seizures were between January 1 and June 11, 2020, adding that in spite of COVID-19 pandemic, which affected movement of goods, the Strike force team were able to raise DN to the tune of N1.104 billion.”

Speaking on the seizures, he said in the last two weeks, the Strike force team has given a hard chase to smugglers who were desperate to unleash economic dislocation on the country.

Giving the details of the seizures, he added that, “Our seizures include; 1000 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice with the Duty Payment Value (DPV) 13.252 million; 10 Tokunbo vehicles with DPV N31.184 million and 30 bales of second-hand clothing with DPV of N2.160 million. It is important to say that in order to help the economy to grow, there is no need to import what we can produce here in Nigeria or bringing in prohibited items.

“The Federal Government has encouraged a lot of rice farmers in the country, where local rice is being produced in large quantity and even healthier than foreign rice. Traders should avail themselves of this opportunity to market our indigenous products in such a way, as to grow the economy maximally.

“You will be surprised that in a bid to police the smugglers from bringing in these prohibited products, our officers face a lot of dangers as most of the smugglers are armed, sometimes not necessarily with rifles but machetes, charms and other dangerous weapons, but we are not overwhelmed.

“This ugly situation is experienced more around the creaks where inhabitants mobilise some under-aged people against us, to the extent of calling us names as well as some stoning us, all in a bid to prevent us from making or securing seizures.”

He, therefore, appealed to those who believe that smuggling is very lucrative to desist from it as Customs officers are always a step above them in all their plots and strategies, saying that a smuggler is an economic saboteur and such trade cannot be the best means of livelihood due to inherent dangers as well as loses to those behind it.

He lamented that smuggling ruins the economy of any nation, adding that a lot of incentives have been provided by the Federal Government to revamp the nation’s economy and it should not be allowed to be reversed.

this shit should never make front page, such mediocrity. stop embarrassing this pathetic country for once, the only thing that make this one a city is just the population and nothing else.

Embarrassing??
What is more embarrassing than being a Nigerian?
Don't you think being silent is the major reason why this "Shit" is still continuing.
If nobody is talking about the under development in Nigeria then the so called leaders will have no reason (pressure) in developing it.

Nice one Oniovo.

A lot needs to be done in Warri, the city just like every other city in Nigeria is highly overrated, thank God for the oil sector keeping the city afloat.

I hope one day we harness our potential, so many sectors untouched, sea ports, steel company, tourism etc.

Attached are some photos a friend took. Credits (atheistandpround)

I honestly agree with you on this, alot really needs to be done.
