Imagine.... BDC's are now crying that business is bad. What of those days they were calling the shots? Their rates were quoted as if it was the official rate. My advice to CBN is for them to continue and sustain the intervention so that the BDC's will be forced to bring out the dollars they stockpiled and even sell them at a loss. |
Business seems bad for Bureaux De Change (BDCs) — no thanks to the naira’s new strength that has hit them with heavy losses.http://thenationonlineng.net/bureaux-de-change-risk-naira-gains-muscle/

Yes, Buhari’s Unsound and Confusing Economic Policy is one of the reasons why Nigeria is still in a recession, but the remote and immediate causes of the present economic quagmire are traceable to the doorsteps of our dangerously corrupt leaders who have heartlessly chosen to swim in needless wealth while they are surrounded and greeted by extreme poverty on a daily basis courtesy of the wealth they didn’t earn and do not deserve. I believe it’s in a bid to desperately but meanly block the money laundering routes of the Nigerian political and economic saboteurs that the Present government through the CBN came up with what has continuously looked like a stone age kind of Forex Policies that have caused more harm than good to the economy, and to innocent men and women doing their legitimate businesses. What on earth justifies that crazy amount of money found in cash in the house of the former NNPC MD, Mr. Andrew Yakubu? If a man who occupied such a sensitive position not too long ago could hide cash of Dollars and Pounds worth about Five Billion Naira(#5B) in his house, one wonders how much he must have stolen and laundered through moles as well as kept in different bank accounts both at home and abroad. These are men who are ready to stake any thing in making sure that government policies are frustrated so that they could freely loot, launder and enjoy their loots unhindered, at the expense of their fellow citizens. A case like this is why we should not have corrupt judges on the bench, so that the likes of Yakubu would always be punished decisively so as to deter other mindless looters, unfortunately the judiciary has been so tainted that the looters are always confident of securing black market orders and injunctions which hinder the effectiveness of their trials, and most times prevent convictions. If it were in a country like Japan or China, many of these enemies of the masses would either have committed suicide or been executed by now, may be we have to bring such meanness to bear in our system before we become a failed state. Just a few years we had many powerful and influential politicians from our on you in the immediate past Federal government as Ministers, Federal Legislators, SGF and Chairmen of Boards and Parastatals, but look around their states, from the Ward to the State level you won’t see any tangible projects credited to any of them, not even to use their loots to build factories in their villages which of course the government can’t take away, especially when unemployed citizens are the beneficiaries of such projects, but the looters wouldn’t do it because they hate their people and would rather have them as perpetual slaves eternally loyal and willing to be their self serving tools, especially for sychophancy and ethnic induced anti corruption solidarity support in times of their trials and tribulations. May God help us bring down the thousands of Yakubus senselessly destroying the destinies of the unborn generations, else more dangerous recessions might might be waiting for us not just in The Kitchen and The Other Room, but at the Parlour and in The Toilet. http://www.abiafactsnews.com/sack-prof-ikonne-from-absu-before-he-turns-absu-to-abia-poly-group-calls/

Heaps of refuse have taken over some streets and major roads in Umuahia, the Abia capital, reports the News Agency of Nigeria. NAN reports that a similar scenario prevailed in the city in January, during which unknown persons began to burn the refuse openly on the streets. A NAN correspondent, who monitored the situation within the metropolis yesterday, said that receptacles placed at strategic locations were filled and overflowing with domestic waste. The unsightly spots adorn the popular Umuwaya Road, Aba Road, Ugwunchara Area, Health Centre Road, Upstairs Line (World Bank Housing Estate) and School for the Blind (Low cost Housing Estate). Other streets also littered with refuse, included Adelabu Str., Niger Road/St. Stephens Anglican Church, Bende Road/Ugba Primary School and St. Finbarr’s Road/Eze Akomas Str. The situation was also the same at the Umuahia Township Stadium/ Ministry of Environmental as well as Ubakala/Okigwe Road Junction, among others. NAN reports that the refuse, which were at decomposing stages, also spilled into the road, constituting an eyesore, obstructing free-flow of traffic. Some residents expressed deep fear that the situation may lead to an outbreak of epidemic if left unchecked. In separate interviews with NAN, Stephen Okorie, Johnson Nwaigwe and Maria Orji, decried the situation, urging the state government to evolve a sustainable refuse disposal strategy. They said that the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) had failed in the discharge of its responsibility. They said that the refuse situation in the capital city began to deteriorate last year but expressed regrets that the government was yet to find a lasting solution to the phenomenon. “The situation became disturbing last year and residents resorted to self-help by occasionally setting the refuse on fire,” Orji said. Okorie, a public affairs analyst, said that the refuse situation in Abia “has gone beyond ASEPA,” saying, “it requires urgent intervention by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.” https://newtelegraphonline.com/news/mountain-refuse-takes-umuahia-streets/

Defeated governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state, Eyitayo Jegede SAN has said he would return to legal practice after the defeat. Besides, Jegede had dropped the idea of challenging the election the victory of Rotimi Akeredolu. It would be recalled that Jegede was defeated by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 244,842 votes to beat Jegede, who came second with 150, 380 votes. Jegede reportedly said there was no need to continue to fight over the matter since the people of Ondo State had decided on who they want to serve them at this time. “I have taken a decision to move on and I wish Governor Rotimi Akeredolu success. “I speak for myself. I believe that if I cannot serve the people of Ondo State now, another opportunity will come for me to do so at another time. “There is always need to demonstrate true statesmanship and that is what I have done,” Jegede said. Jegede said that he had a profession and was returning to practice law and had not filed any petition against Akeredolu’s victory as expected in more than 21 days after the results were declared. http://leaders.ng/?p=26229 |

PMBNG:Hahaha.... Abeg congratulate the men who won cos this is the only place I expected APC candidates to win effortlessly |
Results trickling in from Rivers south-east senatorial district are in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with Magnus Abe, candidate of the party in the district, having a good chance to return to the upper chamber of the national assembly. Abe lost the 2015 general election, but challenged the outcome of the exercise, which was eventually nullified and the appellate court, ordered a rerun. APC cleared two federal constituencies in the district. In Khana/Gokana, Maurice Pronem polled 68,219 votes to defeat Dumnamene Dekor, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 20,329 votes. So this other thread which was opened yst was old news after all... https://www.nairaland.com/3495766/sheriffs-faction-illegal-appeal-court

The Ali Sheriff faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said it has identified impunity and lack of respect for the party’s constitution and the rule of law as the major problems that led to the its failure in the Edo and Ondo governorship elections. Many have expressed the belief that the decision of Mr. Sheriff and his supporters to factionalise the PDP led to its failure in the elections. The faction, at a media briefing on Monday in Abuja, however said the blame for the losses falls on three governors elected under the platform of the party. Although the faction did not mention the names of the three governors, it has been engaged in running battles with governors Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State. Monday’s press briefing, addressed by the Deputy National Chairman of the faction, Cairo Ojougbo, said ” in all these difficult times only three governors have been the architects of the destruction of the party”. Mr. Ojougbo said only the governors of “Taraba, Gombe, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers and a few others have been very cooperative and are willing to let the party grow. They have shown maturity, understanding and sagacity in the affairs of the PDP.” The Beginning of our Downfall The Sheriff faction recalled that the impact of impunity in the PDP manifested itself for the first time in the 2011 general elections when the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, defeated the PDP in Nasarawa State. “We had a sitting governor then who could not deliver. This was the first warning against impunity. It was ignored. “Then in 2015 we had governors in Benue, Kogi, Niger, Jigawa, Plateau, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Bauchi and Adamawa. We lost in all these states for a common reason, the governors were not unpopular but they imposed their surrogates and the people voted them out. We paid for impunity,” Mr. Ojougbo said. The faction argued that an analysis of the 2015 general election showed that all the ten states the party lost were in the northern part of the country, adding that even south-south states would not have survived if former President Goodluck Jonathan did not hail from the region. It said the figures that emanated from the south-east were also “abysmal”. Mr. Ojougbo said the outcome of the 2015 election proved that although governors are very important in winning elections for a party, they do not necessarily determine the outcome. “The running of the party should therefore not be left entirely to their whims and caprices. The party must have a say because party is supreme. In the case of Mimiko’s Ondo, the party was denied the valuable say,” he said. The party leader also said that the faction had cried to all concerned ahead of the Edo election that the party hierarchy in the state was defective and that the Leadership needed to be changed “to allow the 60 stalwarts of the PDP who defected to APC return to the fold.” “Of course the governors refused. There was no surprise to the result. “In Ondo State, the script was written in 2013 when Governor Mimiko returned to PDP. All members he met on the ground left the party for him and he took over the PDP. The structure was handed over to the Labour Party. “If Oke had not gone to AD and Mimiko managed leadership sportsmanly, PDP would have won the election convincingly. “In the election, APC scored 244,842 votes while PDP scored 150,380 and AD scored 126,889 votes. It is a fact that the AD votes belong to PDP and the simple arithmetic shows why PDP lost; our votes went to Oke and AD,” he said. He also said that when Mr. Mimiko returned to the PDP, his fellow governors appealed to him to allow for harmonization but he refused. He said all the PDP members led by Olusola Oke therefore left the party. Mr. Ojougbo said in choosing a candidate to succeed him, Mr. Mimiko did not allow original members of the PDP to buy forms. “He mainly anointed Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) who was returned unopposed. “Party members cried to the high heavens that Jegede is from the central zone where Mimiko hails from. Their cries fell on deaf ears,” he said. He also said the primary election organised by the Sheriff faction had six participants which returned Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate. “Jimoh hails from the South. He campaigned vigorously and convinced the people to vote for him. But alas Mimiko will not allow him carry the party flag. “Mimiko used the instrumentality of state government to overwhelm Jimoh but could not overwhelm the masses and voters. Of course the result is out there for all to see,” he said. Sheriff Independent of Buhari, APC Mr. Ojougbo also said the accusation that Mr. Sheriff was doing the bidding of Nigeria’s ruling APC is not tenable. He said it was PDP governors who invited Mr. Sheriff to be the chairman of the party. He also said when he (Sheriff) assumed office, he put in place a committee to conduct a National Convention to “elect people of good character to run the affairs of the party”. He added that Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State was appointed the chairman of the zoning committee. “The Governors met and decided that Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff should continue in office. The question is ‘was it Mr. President, General Buhari or the APC who sourced Senator Sheriff for the PDP’? “Was it the APC who chaired the zoning committee that zoned chairmanship to Sheriff? The answer is No. “We therefore call on all Nigerians to discountenance the idea that Sheriff is working for the APC. Sheriff was offered the senatorial ticket in the last general election after he left the APC. Senator Ali Modu Sheriff is a complete PDP faithful whose desire it is to reposition the party. “Truth be told, Sheriff is insisting that power be returned to the people,” he said. Mr. Ojougbo also spoke about the belief that Mr. Sheriff was a sponsor of the terrorist group, Boko Haram, He said it is on record that when Mr. Sheriff was governor of Borno State, he suppressed and completely routed the Boko Haram. “Boko Haram Killed 5 members of his family in the process of his fight against them. “But when the current Governor of Borno State, Shettima, took over office, Boko Haram became emboldened, virulent and malignant. “Note also that Shettima became governor because Boko Haram killed the man who was to be governor. His death paved way for the emergence of Shettima who willingly and deliberately encouraged Boko Haram. “Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff has taken to court the Attorney General of Borno State who claimed that Sheriff is Boko Haram in Suit No. FCT/HC/CU/2494/2016 between Senator Dr. Ali Modu Sheriff vs. Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawan and 3 others which is currently ongoing,” he said. Mr. Ojougbo said although the faction does not comment on individuals, but “for the sake of the survival of the party we take exceptions to the utterances of Prince Adeyeye”. He said Mr. Adeyeye, spokesperson of the Ahmed Makarfi PDP faction, is attacking Mr. Sheriff’s faction believing that he will be awarded the governorship ticket of Ekiti State. The sheriff faction, however, warned that if the PDP is not restructured, even if he ( Adeyeye) is awarded the ticket “which we know Fayose will not do, it will be an exercise in futility and a waste of time like Eyitayo Jegede’s”. Mr. Ojougbo said Mr. Sheriff is the agent of change for the PDP and multiparty democracy in Nigeria. “Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff remains the only and authentic National Chairman of the PDP and the NWC remains the only administrative body authorized by law to run the party.” He concluded the briefing by calling on all party members to unite or the PDP will be dead forever. http://saharareporters.com/2016/11/28/why-pdp-lost-edo-ondo-and-may-lose-future-elections-ali-sheriff-faction
