@odilibe. Examining the results critically, I think Digisat quad lnb will outperform mti ak54xt2n quad lnb.Thats in my humble opinion anyway.What do you think?
Actually mti highline ak54xt2n outperformed digisat twin lnb on my 3m dish at nilesat 7west..there was a minor error on the previous test that made digisat lnb closed to mti lnb ....at first i didn't made sure that the mti lnb was skewed properly since the lnb was already left on the dish..signal must have dropped before the test...i just plugged the coaxial cable took readings from the sat meter, then removed the mti lnb from the dish..at this time i installed digisat lnb on the dish, skewed lnb properly and re-tracked nilesat..to my surprise the lnb almost outperformed mti highline...but on the other hand when i replaced mti lnb on the dish, i noticed that the lnb had made an increase of 2% which gave it lead over digisat lnb..from obsevation...bbc tp of 11766 jumped to 43%, dubai one 11785v jumped to 38%, mtv 11977 jumped to 37%. the mti lnb outperformed digisat lnb on aljazeera frequency 10992 v which jumped to 85%, digisat could not get to 85%,11938v jumped to 36%, i have carefully observed mti highline signal readings from yesterday till now..i have now reached a decision..

below are the conclusive test results of mti against digisat and also pics of current mti highline signal quality reading from my ws-6906 sat meter

digisat
12015:37%
11766:37%
11785:36%
11977:35%

mti
12015:39%
11766:43%
11785:38%
11977:37%

from the current readings of mti highline lnb it outperformed digisat on nilesat@7west..it gave digisat huge gap on 11766 which is bbc frequency
below are signal quality reading of mti highline lnb performance on nilesat 7west using ws-6906 on 3m dish

and according to previous tests mti ak54xt2n defeated x premium lnb on offset antenna...outperformed inverto black ultra quad on 11766 nilesat 7west 3m dish..outperformed digisat twin 0.2 lnb on 3m dish..

next challenger pauxis 0.1 twin lnb grin

cheers..

@odilibe,
I think you should also give pauxis 0.1db twin lnb a spin and lets see what gives. After my twice pleasant experience with that gem I have a mind to
try it out on my 4m pan and see how it will fare on nilesat. But yours could come in faster as I don't have time on my hand right now.
@George..i will look for the pauxis twin lnb in the market on monday, i will report feedback ASAP...

In the meantime the lnb i was waiting for has arrived it happens to be Digisat twin lnb, with noise figure of 0.2db and conversion gain of 70dB,same specification with mti highline.. it will be compared with mti highline lnb, i will give you feedback by tomorrow...

cheers grin

pls gurus in d ause wich lmbf is d best 4 bein sport tracking?
I was using inverto black ultra quad lnb on my 3meter dish in enugu then replaced it with MTI high-line ak54xt2n quad lnb which gave more signal on BBC on nilesat 201 compared to inverto.."someone picked up eutelsat at 7.3west ( MENA BEAM) with 3m dish with an lnb in Onitsha.."he will deliver the lnb to me this weekend for test. if the lnb performs better on my current set-up..then it will be recommended "

@Graham4luv. MBC package is on Nilesat 102 @ 7° W,Tp 11938 V DVB-S 27500-3/4.
The last time I checked it took a minimum of 400 cm pan dish to pull the bird down in Warri,
South-South Nigeria.
"while transponders like 12418H27500 on 7.3 west are receivable with 3m in onitsha...and good signal with 3m at nilesat 102/201 in Enugu!

can the lnb capture, most of the satellite signal that is reflected to the focal point by the satellite dish!

The gurus in the house, i think we have to make a research, by looking for an element when attached to 60cm dish to make it work like 4m dish
60cm to 4m..That is not gonna happen!

tonididdy: for my experiment am gonna construct a 1.3m dish...I know my FP and diameter...problem now is how do I know my depth?
I think the pics explained it!...

the depth should start from the bottom centre of the antenna..where depth is known by using a tight rope across the antenna and a rule to measure the depth..point where the rule touches the rope is the depth!
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by odilibe(m): 6:29pm On Sep 29, 2014
iykmora: for parabolic dish;
Focal length = f
Depth = c
Diameter = D

f = ( D * D ) / ( 16 * c )

senior gurus, i hope I am correct?
correct if you are to determine the focal length of a parabolic antenna!
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by odilibe(m): 10:17am On Sep 29, 2014
tonididdy: house please how do I know the measurement ''of the depth'' of my soon to be constructed dish.

or rather how do I know what the depth of my ''soon to be constructed'' dish?
c=depth. d=diameter. f= focal point!

Pls I have this maybe silly questions, that need answers from persons with high satelite intellect .
The question is can a ”dish” made with cement or plastic receive/attract signals?

Freddygaz: From the footprint below the sat is Arabsat 5A that shows covers half of kenya.....actually the guy with 240cm was Kung'u who got two transponders carrying some feed channels....guessing the age of the sat is playing a major role in its weak beam smiley
The sat is just 4yrs old may be the problem is transponder power plus increased dish size of 130 to 150cm at 38dBW in Kenya!where there will be a decrease of -(minus)38dBW which will result in further increase of dish size for other parts of Kenya which is not in coverage zone

I just checked flysat and I found out that Irib bein sports has new HD channels on Asia sat 7@100.5 c band which covers Kenya encrypted on biss!

happy haunting!

Humax!

kibukila: The signal for this channel is very weak.One Kenyan failed to hit green on this tp using 2.4m offset with high gain lnb.Ugandans are in better position to get it and see how low the signal is.
The 2.4m guy must be a novice..from map,the beam covers 50% of Kenya and Uganda..that means there is a chance of receiving the signal in Uganda and Kenya!

miju: thanks Odilibe, it is actually Titanium c-band C1 PLL lnb and i already av it on my wish list on amazon. i will go ahead for it.

may be you should order one and report feed back!....I was interested on titanium pll lnb but from other forum it didn't do better than esx 241 c band lnb...then I have to draw back..

irukandji89: Good morning.

Pls, from this link, www.lyngsat-maps.com/NSS-12.html it is shown that the nss-12 57E beam is c band and requires abt 1m dish size in nigeria.
Is this correct?
..there are three C band beams on n nss12..actually it is 110cm/1.1m for the west hemi beam but the global beam gives 290cm/2.9m dish..that means overall dish size is 290cm for nss12 ,west/global beam in Nigeria...where a 2.4m dish may lock the entire TP on nss12@57.east!

Cheers!

yeah canal+sports is running on hotbird-13east under cyfra+, while fox sports is on sky Italia package...any dvB receiver can track hotbird -13east cos 90% of packages on hortbird-13east are running on dvbs/ mpeg2 format....but these channels are $crambled and few of those packages speak English lol ,like cyfra+ ..you may lock them with 3m dish!

jamesmac1: So I'm going to lose my MBC channels in the next year? My 1.8m dish doesn't pick Nilesat 201
well there are only 10 transponders left on nilesat 201,MBC is likely to move to nilesat 201, or otherwise 202! but since you are not picking nilesat 201 that means you may lose mbc on 1.8m!
