The last government even went as far as giving away import waivers for these items ;thereby depressing the local economy further.
According to Jonathan , no one knows better than the IMF and world Bank.
Well we have a government today who is ready to tell the IMF and the world Bank to go to hell.
Hopefully we can move from the conventional to a more international standard of governance.

He is giving the typical "in America" ,"in Japan " example which has consistently failed every dysfunctional country like Nigeria.
He is right to put him straight.you seem to underestimate the brain work that goes into getting the mars bar into the market.
Have some of you been to the headquarters of some of these foreign brands. Their IT departments employ thousands of programmers ( in many cases, located in different countries),content developers etc. Not to talk about the logistics required, accounting for their global staffs, marketing,taxation,legal and dealing with governments and regulations.
Simply put, you need thousands of experienced professionals which is something Nigeria lacks.

Farming is optional.the civil service job is optional as well.
Reducing working hours is alternative to layoffs.
Even with all the corruption and political appointees, A state that cannot pay her employees simply has too many of them.
If the people cannot pay the taxes needed to fund their salaries, then they are indirectly saying that they do not want them.

While I strongly condemn this line of thinking of the Ondo Muslims, it is important to note that other states in the SW that are Muslim majority especially Osun have always been sensitive to the feelings of non Muslims, so saying Muslims are in minority in Ondo would be foolish
Osun even twice had Christians as both governor and deputy(Oyinlola's administration), despite being a Muslim majority state.

While that shouldn't be the yardstick for voting (and it has never been in the SW before), I think it isn't out of place to accommodate Muslims, maybe the as the deputy.

Nonetheless, I still think it is dumb to vote based on religious lines. I, for instance haven't benefited anything from Buhari, (a fellow Muslim since he assumed office), so what's the fuss about religion here.
