Never was Nigeria the largest economy. Not with that cassava bread economy. We've had this arguments before. Iweala massaged Agriculture to create imaginary Gdp figures . Even South Africa's agricultural output dwarfs Nigeria's. To Key facts Power generation : 55000MW refineries : 7 steel plants : 25 Gold mines and plant: 10 Coal mines : 11 Uranium :1 I fact I will stop counting the plants. Let me just show what they sell to the rest of the world. Almost every single item has a deep value chain. They not only mined these stuffs, they process and most time times, sell finished products. These facts show in their national budget which is like 6 times the Nigerian budget South Africa national budget : $102 billion Nigeria :$ 20 billion world's largest producer chrome manganese platinum vanadium vermiculite. second largest producer Ilminster palladium rutile zirconium. world's third largesture exporter coal Iron ore 5th largest Gold |
The Foreign investors I know, I like and want to see Cadbury Nestlé Nigerian breweries Procter and Gamble Toyota, Honda,Peugeot,Nissan, BMW Craft etc I keep hearing about these mystical foreign investors . Where are those investors? Where are their power plants, steel plants, toy factories etc. The investors he is talking about are the speculators who come to Nigeria to inflate bubbles In the stock exchange who then sell at the height of the bubble, and leave the country with a bill. While the racket is going on, these so called elites have so much money to throw on Wrist-watches, champagnes, exotic cars etc. Buhari rightly trapped these folks money in Nigeria with the ban on forex or they would have depleted the forex reserves faster than you can say bob. Their fingers got burnt so do not expect them to come back any time soon. My grouse with Buhari is definitely not on the economy. Get used to Nigeria for what she is. A poor country with millions of unproductive citizens. |
Wetin dem dey find for city |
The son of one of those who assisted Jonathan in transforming Nigeria. People living the life of an American rockstar without a job. |
leofab:Because, in the past, you converted the infrastructure into rice and ate it |
Daplux4:If I were to criticise this government, It will definitely not because of hardship. I criticise things that people praise and praise things that people think is bad. The same way I praised Eko Atlantic is the same way I criticised the proposed 4th mainland bridge. You deserve that hardship because you brought it upon yourselves . you can choose to learn from your past mistakes or continue waiting for God. No amount of crude oil will make Nigeria great. |
After destroying your country , you turn around and blame everybody but yourself. The four other fingers are pointing right back. In 2012 , a friend left the US to pick up a $80,000 desk job in a Nigerian bank doing absolutely nothing. That exactly is how they wasted the resources not stolen. There are just too many unproductive activities in Nigeria. 1 40 provision shops on one street when two tax - paying super or hypermarket is more socially useful. 2 Zombie socially useless banks. 3 farmers still using cutlasses and hoes in the 21st century. 4 Useless politicians 5 Dysfunctional and bloated ministries 6 and the worst , a dysfunctional bunch of citizens who spend more time believing in the foreign fables told by their criminal pastors and imams even when they are informed that those fables were repackaged myths from their forefathers Citizens who would ,rather than pay their taxes, prefer to handover same to those pastors and imams. Citizens who when confronted with situations which demands they should stand up and be counted , turnaround and say "It is God's will. Well, it is "God's will" that you all suffer. Seun did not shout God's will before creating nairaland. He created something out of nothing . Cocoa farmers in the 60's created something tangible out of nothing. There are a few people creating something out of nothing . But those few cannot carry the weight of loafers . Most Nigerians create nothing but demand everything . The aging farmers today do not produce significantly enough to carry any weight . By the way, these dumb celebrities, polithiefcian and hacktivist complain because the price of their useless Gucci bags and $1000 cocktails have gone up. Just see them complaining on Instagram from Dubai about how the value of the naira has affected the $50000 tuition fees of their children. The hypocrites are one of the reasons why Nigeria is exactly that way. NIGERIA IS EXACTLY THE WAY IT IS BECAUSE YOU WANT IT AS IT IS . I have even overheard Nigerians overseas missing the Nigerian dysfunction. there was a post on nairaland yesterday about a slab in the middle of the road . Citizens did not take it upon themselves to at least move it to a safer place until something is done . It will probably only take 30 seconds and 2 people . Yet , I saw people saying that they almost ran into it . Does citizenship start when you help accident victims? I have news for everybody, you and your country are all living beyond your means . |
nwanna89:Meh. The external reserve is not for sharing. It is a recipe for economic disaster and hyper inflation. Whenever the FG makes foreign money from oil, licenses, mining rights etc, the money is lodged in the central bank, and the central bank gives the naira equivalent to the FG for sharing to the states,LG and FG. In layman's term It is just like you going to aboki to change your dollars. After collecting the naira, you also want the dollars back. |
What you see here is an exhibition of what a true politician aspires to become and the values he wants to project.Yet, great men have to tussle in the same arena as know nothing. |
I wonder what took so long for them to deal with these criminals |
As much as good quality investments are needed. The federal government also has to put her house in order. A good place to start is to remove the bloat Jonathan added to the civil service. |
This is a rubbish list |
Gas is more important and there is gas all over Nigeria |
Standing5:Start with 50 billion or anything. Build first in the cities I listed. The houses will be bought faster than you can build them. make a little profit. Use some of those profits to build in the lesser cities. The private sector real estate developers have already shown the direction of flow. They are not rushing to build in Lokoja or Makurdi. |
Commendable but not well thought through. What I would do is to create an housing project fund and use prosperous cities with serious housing like Lagos Ibadan Port Harcourt Kano Abeokuta Enugu Kaduna Use the returns from these prosperous cities to expand the size of the fund. While making profit from these cities, you can then use some of the returns to take care of lesser cities and states. |
Hopefully this will not turn out to be another failure. You can leave oil today and build a more prosperous country on that single steel plant today. From building whole factories, rail lines, cars, power plants and coaches to aircrafts. You however, need a lot of intelligent people to mage such a society (something Nigeria seriously lacks) |
He is enjoying the relative good job his predecessor did. Tinubu 1 taxation, 2 stabilisation 3 Governance Fashola 1 Judiciary 2 debt management. 3 PPP 4 Security The most important things they did were not roads, drainage system,water-work or bridges. The most important thing on which the success of lagos is built is the list above. It is on those stuffs that you build an healthy society. If you want to know a badly governed state, just score them on those stuffs |
Useless old man. He is already trying to muscle into the deal. |
Fashola is too soft. Even Ambode is tougher. Amosun case blood in his eyes and his above the other pretenders. Ajimobi kids are always on instagram living the life of a rapper. Good luck with the looking for Awolowo thing |
Do not worry they are sending them to hell. Attack helicopters dey dash them missiles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhexsgouSYo |
You voted for them, you live with the consequences. |
Who voted Dogora and Saraki as Speaker of the house and Senate president respectively ? |
I have always advocated that OPC should be disbanded but in light of the forces empowered by Jonathan and his goons to destabilise yorubaland in the last dispensation ,I think it is a bad idea. There are just too many dysfunctional societies in this country. The police did nothing because they were under the protection of the Patience Jonathan presidency. Almost every week, ogun state had to go and clean up leaks or put out fires. The yorubas who voted for that buffoon should hang their heads in shame. Many of us who knew what was happening by piecing together information here and there advocated strongly against any omoluabi voting for that buffoon. Someone who did not show any respect in his first term to you. Not one project that he could point to after 5 years and $500 billion. Dem still carry dem finger vote for am. If only you knew what they had planned for you. For once the government is doing something about it. They should have deployed OPC members from Offa, Ilorin, ibadan, Modakeke and Cotonou to do this job. These criminals were raping women in their homes, ,disrupting imported fuel supplies and electricity etc |
People who do good should be encouraged. It is obvious that the government and police authorities are failing this woman. No high viz vest. No Road marking or signs to make prevent her from being run over. No raincoat. |
mrvitalis:Outside of the little Nigerian bubble, even craftsmen are called engineers nowadays You wonder why those oil companies send plumbers over to Nigeria to boss the so -called university and polytechnic graduates. Most inventions come from the labs of big business. The rest come from the few geniuses in the university system. The masses of people are just push-button people. Just sit at your desk and push this button all day long . No major skill required. Skills that can be acquired outside the tertiary education system. Heck, the builders in yorubaland in 1930 are better than those there today. |
manutdrichie:What is this one saying? |
Those criminals have been constituting a nuisance in the SW for a very long time. They must be pursued out of yorubaland. |
Apart from the school of medicine, most university degrees and departments are antiquated, not fit purpose and useless to the Nigerian society. The medical sciences remain relevant because, a major chunk is practical oriented( something you cannot say about others degrees). It is therefore easier for them to plug in straight into the job market with the prerequisite skills. This is something you cannot say about other degrees. What is needed is an hybrid of the polytechnic and university system in all institution of higher leaening. An hybrid of theory/ practical with emphasis on research. For example, a friend's final year project in a university in the USA was to write a controller program for a wind mill. Wind speed sensors rev/minutes and all. |
unklrukus:What about love. |
Destroy them all . |
