Uche Secondus, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says there will be war in the country if the 2019 presidential election is rigged. Speaking in Asaba, capital of Delta State, on Thursday at the party’s presidential campaign rally Secondus accused the Nigerian government of putting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under pressure to rig the election. “Today, by your mandate, we warn INEC and we believe there are good people in INEC… we know that government is pressuring INEC to rig this election, but if they rig this election, they’re looking for war,” he said. In pidgin, he asked the people if this was true, to which they replied in the affirmative. Continuing, he said: “If they need peace, they must not rig the election — because everybody is ready for this election. “We want to also advise our security agencies — and we know there are good people there protecting lives and properties, which is their primary duty. We believe that they will obey the Constitution, not to break it like Mr. President is breaking our laws. They will obey the Constitution and be neutral, but if they don’t, if they join hands with INEC to rig this election, what are they looking for?" “War,” the people chanted back. Secondus then added: “Therefore, we advise all Nigerians, on that day on the 16th of February, let them come all out to vote and stand by their ballot boxes, and defend their votes — because the votes of all Nigerians must count. So that we can vote out a man who cannot interact, so that we can vote out a man that has brought disgrace to our nation. http://saharareporters.com/2019/01/31/breaking-therell-be-war-if-they-rig-election-says-uche-secondus |
I believe the best way for anyone not to lose his/her sanity after this election is to not emotionally support any of presidential candidates (Buhari and Atiku). Following this advice will keep many from running mad after the election result is announced! Although I prefer Buhari to continue, but whoever gets elected eventually is ok with me. |
MrPresident1:This is the true reason Atiku boycotted the debate! He knew he had no chance with those other contestants..........he is not worthy to be a President. |
Since return of democracy in 1999, the PDP has boycotted SIX presidential debates despite PMB and other aspirants honouring it. I wanted to sit back and laugh at PDP supporters wailing, lamenting bitterly and gnashing their teeth in 'sifia pains' over Buhari's absence because they desperately need his presence to dignify their candidate on the podium of discussion, just the way He needed their candidates in past debates and they ensured they deprived him of it. God bless those who advised Buhari to make the PDP have a taste of the bitterness of their own pill! 1999 Olufalae showed up for debate PDP candidate OBJ, sure of victory, didn't come PDP won 2003 # Buhari showed up for debate PDP candidate OBJ, sure of victory, didn't come PDP won 2007 #Buhari showed up for debate PDP Y'Adua, sure of victory, didn't come PDP won 2011 #Buhari Showed up for debate PDP Jonathan, sure of victory, didn't come PDP won 2015 #Buhari, sure of victory PDP ,Facing defeat, begging for debate Buhari didn't come APC won 2019 #Buhari, sure of victory PDP , facing defeat, begging for debate Buhari didn't come APC will win Buhari has participated in presidential debates for THREE consecutive election seasons. PDP has NEVER participated in any presidential elections before. Who is afraid of debates? Buhari lost elections despite participating in debates THREE times. Debate doesn't determine voting outcome in Nigeria of today and that is why the PDP has NEVER participated in any and still won elections. That's why Buhari won when He stopped participating in it. Buhari has used his participation in three debates to discover Nigerian electorates are not moved by debates, they are moved by Popularity of the candidates among them. Buhari has therefore worked on his popularity and again coasting home to victory next month. Let the PDP also do debates for three political seasons to discover what moves Nigerian electorates. Unfortunately, they have lost it this year. They need the next 16 years to get opportunity for another three debates since they have failed to learn from Buhari's experience. In other words, PMB is 16 years ahead of them in the knowledge of the political reality of Nigeria today. PDP candidate gave a rather ridiculous excuse for not participating. He said it is not 'Candidacy debate', it's 'Presidential debate' and therefore He won't debate without the President being there! Lol... He should be told the implied meaning of Presidential debate is 'Presidential Candidates debate'. What happens in situation where the incumbent is not contesting and all candidates are fresh? Does that change the name from Presidential debate to another thing? Lol... In those three occasions where Buhari participated and the PDP failed to show up, the organisers never changed it to 'Candidacy debates' because they weren't grammatically disoriented! The PDP also failed to realise that Presidential debate is meant for candidates to sell their programmes to their audience and not to the incumbent president lol... This is the first time in Nigeria's Political history that PDP could have participated in a presidential debate, yet they gave such a frivolous excuse that Buhari didn't come. What about those three occasions He came while you still absconded despite being in power? Atiku needs the presidential debate far more than Buhari now. Buhari doesn't need it to win. Atiku needs it more except the PDP is afraid of Oby Ezekwezili that has been looking for a close avenue to strip them of the remnants of their past glory. To Atikulooters who might want to say PMB is running away from debate, first tell us why your party has never honoured any debate in the past and only desperate to debate only PMB now. Look at the scorecard below: Buhari in debate = 3/5 PDP in debate = 0/6 We then ask, Who is afraid of debates?" Oluwasola Thomas Sunday |

If Nigeria was an ideal country, we wouldn't be debating on who to vote for between Buhari and Atiku. |
akinszz:Did you see or ask for any evidence of the "purported" huge number of soldiers killed in melete or Baga? Let's just do away with this hypocrisy and politics of bitterness. Meanwhile, this is good development. |
astOorR:The nigga isn't a christian, he's just pretending to get at Chrsistian. |
GoTV:Why are you so ashamed to be identified with your religion to the extent of pretending to be a Christian in order to smear Christians when you're indeed a Muslim? Please be proud your religion now Mr man. |
johnpologyidea:I hope you're not working with federal government otherwise, query dey hungry you. |

A new militant group known as War Against Niger Delta Exploitation has threatened to disrupt the 2019 elections if its demands on the development of the Niger Delta region were not met by the Federal Government. A communique signed by its spokesman, ‘General’ Nomukeme, and issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday warned that the group would begin hostilities should the government of President Mohammadu Buhari fail to prove its commitment to the growth of the oil-bearing region. The militant group’s seven-point communique indicated that it decided to make its position known after what it described as the Federal Government’s continued enslavement of the people of Niger Delta. It noted that the people of the region were denied the right to have a share of their God-given resources, but added that President Buhari would enjoy its (WANDE) support if he could prove his administration’s commitment to Niger Delta development. “WANDE will galvanise the support of all former and current agitators for you; President Muhammadu Buhari, if you can prove your administration’s commitment towards the development of the Niger Delta by implementing our demands as contained in this statement. “But failure to meet these demands simply translates to our commencement of hostilities. We will frustrate the conduct of the 2019 general elections across the country if the demands are handled with kid gloves. The group, however, called on presidential candidates in the forthcoming general elections to show the people of the region their blueprints for the development of the Niger Delta. “This is because at the moment, no policy document of any of the candidates clearly shows a concrete plan for the development of the Niger Delta before any of them can get our support,” it said. https://punchng.com/ndelta-militants-threaten-to-disrupt-2019-elections/ |
Over 25,000 members of the Kwankwasiyya movement of the Peoples Democratic Party from Kano South have dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress. While receiving the new members, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, used the occasion to present flags to all candidates contesting for seats in the House of Representatives and State Assembly in the 2019 general elections. According to the defectors, they were in Rano Local Government Area to witness the formal presentation of flags to Senator Kabiru Gaya and other candidates from Kano South by Governor Ganduje, during the final grand rally for all candidates from the zone. It should be noted that Kano State, being the most populous state in the federation has 24 candidates for the House of Representatives and 40 gunning for the State House of Assembly seats. At the Kano Central zone, the former two-term governor of the state and the former Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, the Sardauna of Kano, was presented with a decorated flag. Similarly, all other contestants from the zone for the 2019 general elections, were decorated with party flags, at another event, held at Kano Pillars Stadium, Sabon Gari, in the metropolis. A one-time governor of the State, Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya, who is currently representing Kano South, was also presented, with a decorated flag at Rano LG. Prior to the zonal campaign rallies, Ganduje and the party stakeholders from the entire 44 Government areas of the State held a crucial meeting to map out strategies for the 2019 general elections, at Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano. At the meeting, Ganduje made it abundantly clear that the impressive achievements of the APC, at both federal and state levels, were enough credentials for the party to emerge victorious in the 2019 elections. He said that, “President Muhammadu Buhari’s unrelenting efforts in developing our dear country from all fronts, particularly in the areas he (Buhari) identified as his priorities, security, economy and employment, are platforms to give us more courage for 2019.” At the three senatorial zones, Ganduje urged party supporters, to ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari secured the over five million votes he promised him in the forthcoming 2019 presidential polls. “Nigeria has no any other serious candidate than President Muhammadu Buhari. We believe in his honesty, integrity, accountability and transparency attributes. That is why his good work as our President goes across the nation. Without considering any ethnic, religious or sectional lines, he is a true patriotic democrat and a sincere Nigerian” Ganduje said. Governor Ganduje promised the decamping PDP/Kwankwasiyya defectors equal treatment in the party. He assured them that they have come to where they and their children would benefit from the abundant dividends of democracy. https://punchng.com/25000-pdp-members-defect-to-apc-in-kano/ |

Russian feminist protest punk rock group based in Moscow ,
Pussy Riot , has claimed responsibility for a pitch invasion
during the World Cup final on Sunday.
Stewards inside the Luzhniki Stadium were called into action in
the second half of Sunday’ s showpiece between France and
Croatia as four individuals ran onto the pitch .
The four were dressed in black trousers with white shirts and
black ties, seemingly the uniform of Russian police officers, and
emerged from behind Hugo Lloris ’s goal .
Referee Nestor
Pitana duly
stopped the
game while the
invaders were
removed, with
Russian
president
Vladimir Putin
in attendance .
Shortly after
the incident,
Pussy Riot
posted a
lengthy message on social media with a series of demands for
the Russian government .
The demands included the release of political prisoners, ending
“ illegal arrests at protests” and allowing “ political competition in
the country ” .
Pussy Riot have carried out a number of political stunts critical
of the Russian government in recent years. |
An Abuja- based media practitioner , Mr. Adebiyi Adedapo, has expressed doubts about the sustainability of any political coalition against the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of 2019 elections. Adedapo, who was reacting to the Coalition of United Political Parties, which emerged on Monday , told News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja that selfish intentions of the parties in the alliance may jeopardise it. Thirty- nine political parties, including Peoples Democratic Party and Social Democratic Party signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together to push out APC in 2019. The parties agreed to field a common candidate for the presidential election and to also work together in all the other elections in the general polls . Adedapo said that the survival of the coalition would depend on what the intentions of the political parties involved are . “ For any coalition to unseat the current government , it must be formed by trusted individuals and earn the confidence of Nigerians . “ We have been around for some time now and we see grand coalitions ; but in most cases, they are not sustained. “ If they are able to sustain the so - called CUPP and come up with a single candidate , it will be a plus on their part. “ As it is presently, Nigerians still have a choice . If 39 political parties are forming an alliance, we still have about 29 political parties that can field candidates . “ I think the incumbent government can make a good account of itself; but Nigerians will still have to decide . “ It is not about the coalition; it is not about the political parties that would come together ; it is about Nigerians and their future . “ It is , indeed, about an ordinary Nigerian using his or her PVC to decide who becomes the next president in 2019 ,” he said . http://punchng.com/selfish-intentions-of-parties-may-jeopardise-cupp- observer/ |

Even though I'm a born again Christian, i think we Christians have an over bearing attitude and our hypocrisy stinks to high heavens. There are millions of poor Christians in the country yet the priority of Kukah is to convert Almajiris to Christianity under the guise of providing help in order to shade the Muslims in future. How many of we hypocritical Christians can allow our children to be helped by Muslim organizations? Muric is very right on this one. We Christians should set our priorities right and stop heating up the polity. We really need to learn a lot from our Muslim brothers
