^^^ It's all linguistics. Remember the Yoruba and Igbo languages are different but there is a distinct relationship. Languages in this family use "m" as a possessive article such as "mo" in Igbo and "mi" in Yoruba. Another example is "umu" in Igbo and "omo" both meaning children. I think that they both originated or atleast were heavily influenced by another language long ago. Possibly that spoken at Nok. |
I talk to you about this all the time, stop with the "im not the only one" attitude. Anyway back to topic. |
Port Harcourt boasts Nigerias fastest growing economy according to this video; [flash=400,400] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYxSk04CFRM[/flash] |
Don't derail this thread. Let's not turn it into what it's not. Focus on the topic at hand. jason123: |
Who are the people that you are talking about and also who are the Niger Deltans? Desola:Honestly, a clear head will see that this is a sensible move. Why build something in a certain place but leave your office miles apart. Such close proximity to the actual resources will increase their productivity since of anything goes wrong, they will be close enough to respond quickly and also it will connect them with the flow of Natural resources coming from Aba. Besides, their staff will have quick acsess to their families in states like Rivers, Aba, Imo, Anambra etc versus the 10 hour trip from Lagos. |
^^^ For the last 3, you Mixed up Igbo with Yoruba. |
Culture arose because of humanity not the other way around. We are humans and we naturally develop a collective identity as a people. If you strip someone of his culture, language and traditions, then such a person is susceptible to the dangers of the world and is reduced to a mere shell. |
How does Ikwerre compare to Ijebu? And please don't give me the "they say they are not Igbos" thing. I have relatives by marriage who are of the Ikwerre subgroup. We speak the same language, dress the same way and practice the same customs, so then what does Ijebu saying they aren't Yoruba have to do with Ikwerre? |
Natasha,,:I'll see how long my patience can last. And who knows, in the future you might be the next Angelina Jolie of Nigeria Dgunnerz:Just know that on movies where the main character is a female and the villain a male, the villain either dies or gets his heart smashed then dies. ![]() |
Meklex:You know I started a story two years ago and I have over a hundred pages written but I lost interest because looking back, it seemed so silly to me. The vocabulary which I thought was fancy and advanced then just looks silly to me now. |
Natasha,,:The name of your novel sounds interesting maybe one you could tell us about it sometime. Lol everyone loses interest in their work it causes me to wonder how those ppl that spend years composing novels manage to do so. Natasha,, link=topic=702249.msg9257359#msg9257359 date=1317486620That's good. They both are pretty alright at acting. And o yeah you said you wanted to become an actor? Lol that seems like the perfect job. You get paid to use your talents on screen ![]() |
Meklex:I prefer Jackie Appiah over Nadia Buhari lol |
This is amazing. You know I thought i was the only person our age who likes to do some of those things that you guys listed. Yeah Meklex you're not the only one who's trying to Write a novel. I am currently working on one but sometimes it seems as if the sea of ideas suddenly flows dry. |

It depends on where you are. For example where I am, you can get a wifi signal almost anywhere. But for Nigeria especially if you plan on using outside the City, 3G is best. The upside lf 3G is that you can connect everywhere but it costs much. While wifi is free but is restricted to areas with a wifi signal. |
Dgunnerz:LOL Mosquitos would devastate you. You'd wake up with bites in new areas ![]() @ Natasha Oh ok thanks. I was wondering for a sec does that mean Failure 9? What does F9 and A9 mean? |
It's funny how this thread suddenly came alive. I could've sworn that last time I was here we were just on the 10th page. |
I know that clock in Igbo Is "Elekere", but does the actual word for clock in our individual dialects differ? For example, in my place we say "ataang" for clock. So I'm hoping someone would give me a few examples of what other towns use. |
billante:US produces 5million barrels daily and 90% of that is immediately stored into the reserves in Alaska. It produces 5 million while consumes 18 million barrels per day. What does that tell you? UK produces 1.5 million barrels daily and consumes 1.7 million. What does that also tell you? https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2174rank.html |
@ OP Who told you the US and UK are "advanced" oil producing nations? A large percentage of America's fuel comes from Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Nigeria and a few others. The United States and Great Britain produce little to no oil. |
mo2ok:LOL. mo2ok:Im not a beard lover. I really don't want to have a full fledged beard until I'm well into my early 20s. I wouldn't want to grow too fast because then you won't get the chance to enjoy your youth. @Your situation with your uncle: Guess what goes around comes around ![]() |
Natasha,,: I'm only speaking my mindWe have a future lady-monk among us! ![]() |
This leads is to the question, how long must it take for one to be considered an Indegine? |
