Politics › Former Textile Worker Now Living Like Pablo Escobar" – Deji Slams Oshiomole by Ofunaofu(op): 3:10pm On Feb 03 |
Comrade wey dey ball! Politics money is sweet. A former textile worker living like Pablo Escobar. No evidence he inherited money from rich parents or that he is a successful businessman or actively doing anything progressively as at today aside politics. Behaving like Wike whose only source of wealth is before harmattan there was cold. SourceFormer Textile Worker Now Living Like Pablo Escobar" – Lawyer Adeyanju Slams Senator Oshiomhole Over Video With Young Woman
The footage, which circulated widely on social media, generated intense public debate and renewed scrutiny of the personal conduct and lifestyle of public office holders.
Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has criticised former Edo State governor and serving Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, following the circulation of a video showing him aboard a private jet rubbing the leg of an unidentified woman.
Adeyanju’s criticism followed a SaharaReporters' report that highlighted the luxurious lifestyle of the former Labour leader, who currently represents Edo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
The footage, which circulated widely on social media, generated intense public debate and renewed scrutiny of the personal conduct and lifestyle of public office holders.
Reacting to the report, Adeyanju took to social media platform X, where he questioned the source of Oshiomhole’s wealth and criticised what he portrayed as a sharp contrast between the senator’s background and his present lifestyle.
“Comrade wey dey ball! Politics money is sweet. A former textile worker living like Pablo Escobar. No evidence he inherited money from rich parents or that he is a successful businessman or actively doing anything progressively as at today aside politics. Behaving like Wike whose only source of wealth is before harmattan there was cold,” Adeyanju wrote.
The short clip, which began trending on Monday, shows Oshiomhole appearing relaxed and jovial aboard the private aircraft, sparking renewed debate about political excess, elites privilege, and widening inequality.
An X user, Everest, wrote: “When Oshiomhole is done living this way, why won’t good be cheap in his eyes? I pity poor Nigerians.”
Another user, Emma Ik, alleged misuse of public resources, stating: “Just look at what Oshiomole and his special friend are doing with Nigeria’s resources, it’s well.”
Reacting to public tolerance for political extravagance, a user identified as Ikemba said: “The funny thing is his constituency people will tell you he deserves it and more.”
Several users also recalled Oshiomhole’s history as a labour activist, accusing him of betraying the ideals he once championed.
A user, Global, wrote: “I remember when this man was the NLC President. President Olusegun Obasanjo increased fuel price to 70 naira per litre, NLC went on strike insisting that the price revert back to 65 naira. Now fuel is how much and he is busy chopping life. Nigeria.”
Another user, Zen Magazine, described the situation as hypocrisy: “It’s so annoying. Like this same man was on NTA preaching pay tax pay tax now look at him. This is what they need our taxes for. To enjoy. I want him to come out and say this is AI.”
The controversy has once again spotlighted public anger over political extravagance, especially as Nigerians grapple with soaring fuel prices, inflation, and deteriorating living conditions.
SaharaReporters had earlier reported that Senator Oshiomhole was seen aboard a private jet allegedly giving a foot massage to a woman whose identity could not be immediately confirmed.
Oshiomhole, a former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), rose to national prominence as a labour activist before serving two terms as governor of Edo State.
He later became national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and currently serves as a senator. His transition from labour activism to high-level politics has often placed him at the centre of public discourse on governance and leadership.
As reactions continue to trail both the private jet footage and his remarks on food prices, Oshiomhole has yet to issue a public response to Adeyanju’s comments or SaharaReporters’ report on the incident. https://saharareporters.com/2026/02/03/former-textile-worker-now-living-pablo-escobar-lawyer-adeyanju-slams-senator-oshiomhole#google_vignette

Politics › Alleged Coup: No Court-martial For Soldiers In Democracy — Femi Falana by Ofunaofu(op): 10:35am On Feb 03 |
Alleged coup: Soldiers can’t be court martialed under Nigeria’s democratic system — Femi Falana
Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, and renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has stated that military officers accused of plotting a coup against the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot be tried by court-martial under Nigeria’s democratic system.
Falana stressed that such suspects must instead be prosecuted in civilian courts in line with constitutional provisions.
He made this clarification during an interview on national television, where he addressed growing public debate over the appropriate legal framework for handling alleged coup attempts in a democratic setting.
According to Falana, Nigeria is no longer under military rule and that the constitution clearly outlines how crimes against an elected government should be prosecuted.
“We are under a democratic government, and as far as the constitution is concerned, we have to take them to a high court,” Falana said.
“The soldiers cannot be court-martialed, they are not trying to remove a military dictator. It’s an attempt to remove an elected government, a constitutional government, to disrupt the constitutional arrangement,” he stated.
The human rights lawyers, explained that “court-martial proceedings are designed primarily for breaches of military discipline and offenses committed strictly within the military hierarchy.
“However, when the alleged offense amounts to treason or an attempt to overthrow a democratically elected government, the matter transcends internal military discipline and becomes a constitutional crime against the state.”
Falana noted that prosecuting such cases through military tribunals would be inconsistent with democratic principles and could undermine the supremacy of the constitution.
“Treason and treasonable felony are offenses clearly defined under Nigerian law and fall squarely within the jurisdiction of civilian courts,” he maintained https://www.vanguardngr.com/2026/02/alleged-coup-soldiers-cant-be-court-martialed-under-nigerias-democratic-system-falana/

Politics › Tinubu Govt Crafty, Running Fraudulent Fiscal Policy, Peter Obi Alleges by Ofunaofu(op): 12:43pm On Feb 02 |
“This lack of transparency is not accidental; it reflects a deliberate pattern of undermining public scrutiny and debate,” said Mr Obi. Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has excoriated President Bola Tinubu for his poor budget implementation. “President Tinubu inherited a legally signed N21.83 trillion budget for 2023. A few months after taking office, he presented a N2.17 trillion supplementary budget that faced widespread criticism for prioritising benefits for public officeholders at a time when Nigerians were enduring painful economic reforms without a credible social protection framework. “Instead of restoring fiscal discipline, the president repeatedly expanded the 2023 budget without a clearly defined end date,” Mr Obi said on Monday in a statement on X. The politician pointed out that in less than three years, Mr Tinubu had exercised appropriation powers over more than N114 trillion in public spending but failed to achieve even 50 per cent budget implementation. “The pattern persisted with the passage of a N35.06 trillion budget for 2024 and a N54.99 trillion budget for 2025. In less than three years, President Tinubu has exercised appropriation powers over more than N114 trillion in public spending. Yet, the government has failed to achieve even 50 per cent budget implementation, exposing a profound crisis of budget credibility. “Alarmingly, until mid-2025, Nigeria was effectively operating with about three overlapping budgets, without clear legal or fiscal guidance on when each one expired or began. No serious country manages its budgets or fiscal operations in such a manner,” stated the opposition figure. He further slammed Mr Tinubu for running 2023, 2024 and 2025 budgets together, insisting such an approach continues to perpetuate the trend of fiscal recklessness. While condemning the repeal of the 2024 and 2025 budgets and their re-enactment with extended implementation timelines, Mr Obi decried the lack of public information regarding the specific capital projects included or their associated costs, noting it represents fiscal obscurity elevated to the level of state policy. The ADC chieftain noted that the proposed 2026 budget, despite still lacking critical details, indicated that the administration had no intention of addressing the structural weaknesses at the core of Nigeria’s public finance system. “This lack of transparency is not accidental; it reflects a deliberate pattern of undermining public scrutiny and debate. The federal government has stopped publishing treasury reports on the opentreasury.gov.ng portal, dismantling a vital transparency framework inherited from the previous administration. In 2025, no budget implementation report was released, regardless of how poor the performance was! No nation can operate with such recklessness and succeed,” he explained. Mr Obi stressed the need for the country’s return to the January-December budget cycle, which was inherited and mismanaged by Mr Tinubu’s government, adding that the change would enhance effective planning and tracking, promote transparency and accountability, and foster sustainable growth and development. Presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala dismissed Mr Obi’s statement as ignorant, saying the politician “is bereft of governance knowledge”. https://gazettengr.com/tinubu-govt-crafty-running-fraudulent-fiscal-policy-peter-obi-alleges/ |

seunmsg: This news ordinarily should elicit optimistic and positive reactions from all sensible Nigerian. Since the IMF published the stats, folks who primarily come from the SE have done everything humanly possible to attack and condemn the news. While Chinese, Indians and nationals of other countries mentioned in the top ten went under the tweet to project their countries positively, these set of Nigerians who support Peter Obi went under the tweet to attract IMF and world of statistics.
South African and a lot of Europeans went under same tweet to bash their government for not doing enough to make the top ten. In fact, some Europeans appealed to IMF to present the EU as a country so that the EU can make the top ten. That’s how much other countries value the achievement. But in Nigeria, these haters are attacking everybody because Nigeria achieved what a lot of other countries are struggling to achieve. They are so pained and angry.
Sadly for them, our economic growth is on a very high trajectory. It is unstoppable. The country shall continue to get better and they shall continue to get angry. seunmsg, listen carefully, once you have to drag tribes and political opponents into an IMF chart, you’ve already lost the economic argument. No one is angry that Nigeria may grow. People are angry that this so-called “growth” hasn’t translated to low cost of living, stable food prices, stable electricity, jobs, basic health care or security of lives and property. Patriotism is not pretending pain doesn’t exist. Celebrating projections while dismissing real suffering isn’t optimism, it’s propaganda. |
Education › Re: Ahmadu Bello University Is Beautiful - Okonjo-Iweala Confesses by Ofunaofu: 10:44pm On Feb 01 |
theforemost: 1. I see the quality roads with concrete pavements that are being built around the country by Dave Umahi led team. Anytime I’m going to my state I see it along Lokoja. When I get to my state, Ondo, I see the ongoing work along Ondo—Ore, I see it along Akure—Ado Ekiti, I see it in the coastal side of Ilaje, I see it along Ado Ekiti—Ikare and I am glad with the approval and flag off of the Ilesa—Benin road that will pass through Akure, our state capital. There has never been a time I witnessed that level of construction by the FG going simultaneously in my home state. And a similar thing is happening in Abuja where I am based too.
2. I see the progress of works being done on the Lagos—Calabar coastal highway as well as the Sokoto—Badagry superhighway. They’ll be the most outstanding infrastructure that our country will ever know. Serious infrastructure that we admire in foreign countries are beginning to spring up around us, and it makes me proud.
3. I have many examples of young people who have benefited from the Students Loans scheme. In the last one year, I don’t think I have heard story of any student that dropped out of school on account of their inability to pay. That’s a milestone achievement for this generation. It’s a big win for humanity. Someone like me who has in the past worked as the administrator of an NGO that people looked up to for help to pay school fees time to time, must appreciate this noble gesture, because in that regard, my eyes have seen and my ears have heard a lot of heartbreaking stories of events that reduce young people’s chances at life.
4. My Local Government Chairman has been executing projects that his predecessors could not carry out. When I inquired to know what’s responsible for that, I learnt there’s increased allocation to the LGA as a result of the autonomy fought for, and facilitated by President Tinubu. It’s not effective the way we want it to be yet, but evidently there’s improvement from what it used to be. Hopefully with persistent pressure from Tinubu, the third tier of government will break free from the hook of the state governments.
5. I live in Cadastral Zone, FO1 Main Estate, Kubwa, Abuja and I can confirm to you authoritatively that power supply has improved in my area. Same for my place in Alagbaka Akure. Therefore, although it comes at a higher cost but we are getting value for what we pay for—just like our mates that are living abroad. As a matter of fact, I gave out my generator to a Fulani friend, Yusuf Kembu, since last year—because I have no reason to keep it.
6. I see the far reaching reforms in the processing of our international passports such that over 200,000 backlog of applications that were left by Aregbesola were cleared within 3weeks, and today, we can apply for passport from the comfort of our home and it will take less than 2weeks to get it, unlike when we had to wait for 3-4months. I also see the various reforms being put in place by the ministry of interior to assist with border surveillance. In fact, this is the only time I know the ministry is living up to its responsibilities.
7. I see the digitization process at our airports. I was still at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport Abuja last week Tuesday. I noticed the infrastructure upgrade and enhanced security too.
8. I see the Federal Institute of Aviation Technology that’s about taking off in my state capital, and I am aware same is being replicated across the six geopolitical zones. Nigerians don’t necessarily have to travel abroad for studies in aerospace and aeronautics engineering.
9. I witnessed the takeover of our Ondo State University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital in Akure by the Federal Government in a bid to expand the infrastructure capacity, staff strength, medical supplies and efficiency—to deliver greater services. As a matter of fact, the work has started at the facility. And I am aware a similar thing is happening across many states.
10. I received higher dividends from my share investments in Nigerian companies. I can count a lot of my friends too who made unprecedented gains from their stocks in different Nigerian entities—an indication that our economy is viable and attractive to investors. Matter of fact, our foreign reserve too has increased by over 30%
11. With the new banks’ recapitalization, improved digitization in the financial sector as well as the new tax reforms, I see the direction the Tinubu government is going—a credit based economy that will uplift the standard of living of the citizenry, so that we can live the life we want today and pay tomorrow like it happens in advanced countries across the world.
We may not be there yet, but to deny that Nigeria is not moving in a direction that is promising, can only be as a result of two things—whether such commentator is not well informed or they’re denying the reality to suit their political sentiments.
Agu James O thanks for inviting me here bro✊🏼 You must have lost your way here. This thread is about how beautiful Ahmadu Bello University is , not Tinubu's propaganda.thread |

Better yet, find a decent job so you don’t have to say things that make normal human beings physically cringe. Funny how you’re demanding receipts for a something that has already been admitted on record, yet you’re completely unbothered by the man who actually controls the purse strings. Tinubu is being criticised for the actions and inactions of the government he presides over, that’s literally how leadership works. But instead, you’re obsessed with Peter Obi, a private citizen minding his personal life. That’s the difference. One holds state power; the other doesn’t. You foam at the mouth whenever Tinubu’s name comes up, yet insist it’s the casual social media user who’s being paid. That logic needs urgent medical attention.
What does Tinubu even need social media for? He doesn’t read it, he’s said so himself. Meanwhile, the real Lamba King of Agulu Land practically lives online, likely checking whether his paid agents are earning their allowance. So shove that nonsense to its rightful place, we all know who the real paid agents are. Tinubu is president, and like he once told Goodluck Jonathan, “the buck stops at his table.” So if you are being paid to spread lies and attack dissenting voices online, don’t pretend it’s just casual social media use.
