Afenifere Leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, has warned that Nigeria is facing its gravest security crisis since independence, urging Northern and Southern leaders to forge urgent partnerships to rescue the nation from escalating violence and deepening mistrust. Delivering a goodwill message through Otunba Kole Omololu, Afenifere’s National Organising Secretary, at the 25th anniversary of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) in Kaduna, Fasoranti said the country was “confronted by unimaginable violence, declining public trust, and the fraying of social bonds.” He described the ACF Silver Jubilee as a moment for sober reflection. “We have never had to deal with this level of insecurity… This is a sad moment for our country,” he said. Fasoranti commended the ACF for 25 years of service and advocacy, noting that it had remained a stabilising voice for the North and a platform for national dialogue, unity, and cohesion. “The founders of ACF set out to create a platform through which the voice of Northern Nigeria could be articulated with clarity, responsibility and dignity,” he said. While raising concerns over insecurity, Fasoranti expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, asserting that the “Renewed Hope Agenda” had the potential to steer the country toward stability. “Our challenges, though immense and complex, are not insurmountable. What is required is sincerity of purpose, courageous leadership, and a renewed commitment to fairness and justice,” he added. He urged Northern and Southern leaders to strengthen cross-regional cooperation built on mutual respect and shared responsibility. “Ours must be a partnership grounded not in suspicion or rivalry, but in mutual respect and shared responsibility,” he stressed. Fasoranti also called for revisiting Nigeria’s foundational debates between 1953 and 1966, saying historical introspection was necessary to address current insecurity and safeguard the nation’s future. “It is time to reflect on what our fathers and leaders proposed and discussed… This has become urgent and imperative for the security of our people and the future of this country,” he said https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/11/afenifere-raises-the-alarm-over-worst-security-crisis-since-independence/ |

mascot87:In other words, if you accepts the claim that the APC is a terrorist organization, then it could be argued that Tinubu, as a member of the APC, would fall under that same label. |
mascot87:Is there any difference between Tinubu and the APC, given that the APC is a terrorist organization and that an APC chieftain has claimed they brought in armed militias, terrorist from Mali, Sierra Leone, Senegal, and other countries to destabilize the Goodluck Jonathan administration |
madridguy:While sane leaders and their collaborators in Tinubu's government including those with direct contacts of Bandits and terrorists will support and negotiate with bandits and terrorrist committing heinous crimes, grant them amnesty, rehabilitate them and absorb them into the Nigerian military |

Amid rising insecurity in Nigeria, Minister of Information Mohammed Idris said on Friday that President Bola Tinubu is saddened by the recent killings and abductions of students. He said, “It’s a very sad thing; the president is really saddened about it. That is why, even before this designation of President Trump that this nation is a nation of Particular Concern, even before the threats issued by President Trump, recall that the president has re-jigged the security forces.” The minister who made the disclosure on Channels Television’s Politics Today said the President is not happy about the security crisis in the country, adding that Tinubu, in his bid to address the issues, had rejigged the security forces. Lately, gunmen have been on a rampage in Nigeria in the northern part of the country, killing and abducting students. In the early hours of Friday, terrorists invaded the Catholic-owned school in Niger State and whisked away an unspecified number of students. This occurred less than a week after bandits abducted 26 students from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State — an attack that also claimed the life of Vice Principal Hassan Makuku, who attempted to resist the gunmen. The incident also follows the abduction of at least 30 worshippers during a deadly attack on the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, where three people were killed. Earlier in the week, bandits attacked a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in the Eruku community of Kwara State, killing three worshippers and abducting the pastor. Speaking on the incidents, the minister said, “These are really sad times for our country,” stressing that one doesn’t need to belong to any faith to condemn the atrocities. “The highest duty of any government is to ensure the protection of lives and duties. Whoever the person might be, it’s not good for our country. No one should be happy that anybody is losing their lives for no just reason. “The second thing is that it is important to note that the complexities and dynamics playing out in this country are not simple ones. We have situations where jihadist extremists are coming out of the northeastern part of the country,” Idris said. Idris explained that the fight against insurgency and terrorism has lasted for sixteen years. He disclosed that diplomatic channels have been opened between Nigeria and the United States to address the alleged Christian genocide and growing wave of insecurity in the country https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/11/insecurity-tinubu-saddened-fg/ |

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has rejected the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja sentencing its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, to life imprisonment on seven terrorism-related charges. This was contained in a statement by IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, on Friday. According to the group, Kanu committed no offence recognized by Nigerian law, maintaining that his agitation amounted only to self-determination, which it argued is a protected right under international conventions. Powerful faulted the judgment delivered by Justice James Omotosho, accusing the judge of refusing to apply Section 36(12) of the 1999 Constitution, which states that a person shall not be convicted of an offence unless it is defined in a written law. “The IPOB wishes to inform the global community, diplomatic missions, international media, and lovers of freedom that we shall, in the coming days and weeks, lay bare the fundamental defects, contradictions, and illegalities that define the recent ruling issued by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja. “For the avoidance of doubt, no gun, no grenade, no GPMG, no explosive, and no attack plan was ever found on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. None. No witness, civilian or military, ever testified before any court at any stage that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu committed any offence known to Nigerian or international law. This is an undeniable fact. “The only thing the Federal Government continues to criminalise is self-determination, a right guaranteed under Article 20 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, Article 1 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and Article 1 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. “Self-determination is a protected right, not a crime. Agitation is not terrorism, and requesting a referendum is not a weapon.” IPOB also argued that insecurity in the South-East escalated while Kanu was in the custody of the Department of State Services, stating that incidents recorded during that period could not be attributed to him. https://dailypost.ng/2025/11/21/agitation-is-not-a-crime-ipob-rejects-nnamdi-kanu-life-sentence/ |
The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has blasted President Bola Tinubu over the recent upsurge in killings and kidnappings in Nigeria. In a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele described the situation as a shame, especially for the fact that some officials of the government went to the United States for a meeting regarding insecurity and the threats issued by Donald Trump. The prophet stated that the president’s responsibility is to ensure every Nigerian is secured, and that if the president can’t make that happen, he should resign from his position and let someone else who is capable do it. He made it known that the issue of genocide isn’t just affecting Christians alone, but everyone in the country, regardless of their religion. NDLEA intercepts cocaine-laden vessel from Brazil, detains 20 Filipinos (VIDEO) “You have to use everything you have within your power to secure the lives of Nigerians. It’s a disgrace that we have to go and report to America, let’s be truthful and honest, Genocide isn’t a particular religion, it’s not only Christians, Muslims are also involved. The killing is general, and it’s really sad. “Tinubu has a responsibility to protect every Nigerian regardless of religion or tribe, but what we have seen so far doesn’t seem like the president can do it. “Sadly, citizens are losing confidence in their president; it’s totally a shame. If the president can’t solve insecurity, he should resign and let someone who can do it replace him.” Police, military comb forests in search for abducted Niger Catholic school students The prophet blasted the NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, for always ignoring warnings regarding insecurity in the country, making it known that he is one of those causing issues in Tinubu’s government. He explained that the NSA hasn’t acted in his capacity to solve insecurity in the country. “The NSA is always busy when it comes to listening to warnings that can protect the lives and properties of Nigerians. He doesn’t listen to intelligent advice, and this is costing the Tinubu government a lot. The president must call him to order, not for political reasons but for the sake of the innocent Nigerians.” Furthermore, he advised President Tinubu to do everything within his power to protect Nigerians and ensure he listens to every advice. “When there is insecurity everywhere will be in disarray; let the air run their aircraft in areas where we have problems. During elections, we see planes flying around; this should be done in those areas. The IGP, COAS, should relocate to these areas where we have problems. “The DSS is doing well, the officials are proactive to a large extent, but they can’t do it on their own. They should be assisted by other forces to ensure their intelligence doesn’t go to waste. “It is also not a time for you to ignore any prophecy, either fake or not. These terrorists sleep, they are not spirits, they shouldn’t have mercy on anyone, destroy them,” he added. https://dailypost.ng/2025/11/21/resign-if-you-you-cant-secure-nigerians-primate-ayodele-hits-tinubu/ |

Scores of troops sustained injuries after terrorists ambushed them while on a rescue mission for abducted students of Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State. The attack came just 24 hours after the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, directed troops of Operation Fasan Yamma to go “all out” against the bandits. Shaibu emphasised the urgency of the mission, ordering, “You must continue day and night fighting. We must find these children.” The COAS also instructed commanders to rely on intelligence for precision operations, warning, “Once you receive information on something like this, act professionally and decisively. This is not just about our image; it is about doing our job properly.” Troops were deployed for a 24-hour operation to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted students. During the mission, terrorists ambushed the soldiers, leaving several injured. Video footage obtained by reporters showed the soldiers lying wounded, awaiting medical attention. One injured soldier was heard saying in Hausa, “Musa has a bullet lodged in his leg. His condition is very bad.” The operational vehicle used by the troops was also riddled with bullet holes in the attack. Security forces have continued efforts to rescue the schoolgirls while providing aid to the injured soldiers https://leadership.ng/just-in-troops-ambushed-while-on-kebbi-schoolgirls-rescue-mission/ |
