Jobs/VacanciesShell Recruitment Day (srd) by ofurufu(op): 9:43am On May 30, 2008
Hi guys,
Having been successful at shell first round interview for Graduate Economics & Finance position,I have got an email that I'll be invited for what they call Shell Recruitment Day (SRD) soon. I learnt this SRD will last for 8 hours where I will be grouped with up to six other candidates and about 4 assessors who will be assessing us as we engage in practical business scenarios (Group discussion, case study, business scenario, lunch break, refreshments etc).

Please who has useful info about scaling this last hurdle. What does it take to impress the assessors? The Dos & Don'ts? Any Shell staff here please? Please I need info, I can't afford to let this great opportunity slip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SportsRe: Austria V Nigeria by ofurufu(m): 1:50pm On May 28, 2008
Not a bad game really, given Eagles' disappointing shows in recent time. Let's not forget that Austria are preparing for Euro 2008 as co-host and eager to prove a point. The large turn-out for the game says a lot about their serious approach to the game, even though we just see it as a friendly. Let's not also forget that this same team beat CIV recently. I saw it as a 50-50 game, and when we factor in home advantage for them,we 'll see that Eagles had a decent outing, although still far from the team of our dream!

All the players had a good game. Ike Uche Getafe would have been my man of the match but his final balls were not as purposeful as one would have have expected after the dribbles and the runnings on the flanks. Yusuf also had a good game, played like Taye Taiwo in his formative years. Mikel was average and ditto for most other players.

Martins?? I do not see anything wrong in leaving a friendly match to best his friend. Not wrong at all, moreso as we have more than enough strikers to choose from. It would have been a different thing if it had been a competitive game.Let us always remember that these players also have overriding family and personal interests!!!

Did you remember that popular Shell graduate job advert that closed April 21. I have received an email from Shell that I have been shortlisted for interview and I will be contacted soon. I checked my application status on their website and I found SHORTLISTED against my name.

FORWARD:
DIDIER DROGBA
SHEYI ADEBAYOR
JOSEPH AKPALA
Scoring 17 goals and emerging highest goal scorer in the lowly rated Belgian league is not enough to rate Akpala the 3rd hottest African forward, even at the moment.
My pick:
1.Drogba-He may not scored many goals this season but he is definitely a player that has delivered when needed most.Liverpoolians will know what I'm saying better
2.Adebayor-Scoring 30 goals in a season is a feat reserved for World's super strikers.I mean the likes of Igwe,Pre-Chelsea Shevchenko,Ruud and maybe Totti. He effectively almost made Arsenal fans say "Henry what'.How I wish he had claimed Nigeria.
3.Eto'o: Despite having injury plagued season,he still has 14 LaLiga goals to his credit.Martins and Yakubu were fit thruout the season, yet coudn't score 14 league goals.
4.Niang:The Senegalese guy is banging goals in France in Marseille colours.
5.Yakubu:He has consistently been highest goals scorer in all his premiership clubs every season.Although Viduka narrowly overtook him last season in Boro. From Portsmouth to Boro to Everton, every season.
SportsAfrica 11 @ The Moment? by ofurufu(op): 6:59pm On May 02, 2008
I have been an ardent follower of the performance of not Nigerian, but generally African players in Europe for quite some time. For this reason I have always started the topic or contributed to debates on Africa's best in Europe on many online soccer fora-mtnfootball,bigsoccer etc.

I hereby open this debate on Nairaland too.

To start off, here is my pick:

TEAM A

GK:
VINCENT ENYEAMA-NIG,YEHUDA(ISREAL)------------------1

DEFENDERS:
KOLO TOURE-CIV,ARSENAL(ENGLAND)---------------------5
JOSEPH YOBO-NIGERIA,EVERTON(ENGLAND)--------------6
EMMANUEL EBOUE-CIV,ARSENAL(ENGLAND)---------------3
TAIYE TAIWO-NIGERIA,MARSEILLE(FRANCE)---------------2

MIDFIELDERS:
MICHAEL ESSIEN-GHANA,CHELSEA(ENGLAND)------------10
YAYA TOURE-CIV,BARCELONA(SPAIN)------------------------4
WING-SALOMON KALOU-CIV,CHELSEA(ENGLAND)---------7
WING-MOMODU NIANG-SENEGAL,MARSEILLE(FRANCE)---11

FORWARD:
DIDIER DROGBA-CIV,CHELSEA(ENGLAND)------------------8
SHEYI ADEBAYOR-TOGO,ARSENAL(ENGLAND)--------------9

TEAM B
GK:
IDRIS CARLOS KANEMI-CAM,ESPANYOL(SPAIN)-------------1

DF:
BOKA-CIV,STUTTGART(GERMANY)
SHITTU-NIG,WATFORD(ENGLAND)
MEITE-BOLTON,CIV
BOBO BALDE-GUINEA

MFsadDIAMOND,NOT WING PLAY)
MIKEL-NIG,CHELSEA(ENGLAND)
FEINDOUNHO-GUINEA,ST ETTIENE(FRANCE)
ALEX. SONG-CAMEROUN,ARSENAL(ENGLAND)
PIENAAR-S/AFRICA,EVERTON(ENGLAND)

FORWARD:
ETO'O-CAMEROUN,BARCA(SPAIN)
KANOUTE-MALI,SEVILLA(SPAIN)

THE RATING IS AT BASED ON CURRENT FORM. DUE RESPECT TO EGYPTIAN PLAYERS,BUT THIS IS AFRICA'S 11 IN EUROPE NOT AFRICA 11 OVERALL.

I'm a proud 'GREAT IFE'. Why it may sound sentimental to say Ife is the best university in Nigeria, one thing I'm sure of is that none of these private universities comes near Ife,Lag or UI.

Many guys see chasing ladies as a game. Acceptance of the proposal means they have won the game. They begin to play another game(chase another lady). Only few guys chase a lady because of genuine love.

EducationHow Other Varsities Copied 'great' From Ife by ofurufu(op): 3:06pm On Feb 29, 2008
Today, every Nigerian higher institution attaches GREAT to its name. While some are indeed most laughable, some truly have some element of greatness. You often hear GREATEST LASU,GREATEST SO AND SO etc.

But have you ever enquired which institution was patently given this appellation. Just as THE PREMIER UNIVERSITY cannot be taken away from UI,GREAT IFE has come to stay as OAU's proud name. Since the 70's and till today, the only university in Nigeria that is recognised as GREAT is Ife.That is why when someone tells you he is A GREAT,the first thing that comes to your mind is that the person is an Ife Product/student.

I have heard some people say if Ife is Great, then there institution is Greatest. Well, for your info Ife is incomparably great. That is why we don't say GREATEST IFE.Simply Great Ife. We did not give it to ourself. That is our trademark.

While not taking anything away from other schools I must say that having the opportunity to pass through this reverred university is one of the greatest things that have happened to me in my life.

EducationRe: The Best University In Nigeria? by ofurufu(m): 6:04pm On Feb 13, 2008
These Eastern universities you mention are second to none in terms of cultism!!!!
emmydee:
Unless we begin to reason like kids, am sure that no one here has all the necessary statistics to comment on all the universities in Nigeria. I graduated at UNN, i have been to Unilag, Uniport, Unical, Uniuyo, Unimed, Unijos, ABU, Uniabuja, Uniben, Abia state University, Imo State University, UI, Enugu state Uni, but I must say that each of these institutions has one thing that makes it stand out among others. In this case, just because Unilag is very expensive does not becloud good accommodation standards of UNN, or that ABU has good laboratory facilities should not make nonsense of the quietness of Uniuyo, that UI is good in MEDSURG is not enough to rubbish the strong law faculty of Abia state university.

When you judge, also remember to compare the severity of cultism in these institutions as that destabilizes academic progress as well. thank you.
