abilityman:Get the poser right: If there were just Ife,Lag and UI in Nigeria, which one will you choose? Simple question. |
I agree Ife grads and students are very pompous, proud and like to intimidate. But it is not their fault, people over-respect them. Many students and grads of other Unis(except rivals like Lag,UI,UNN) always feel inferior when they meet Ife guys, and trust Ife guys, they capitalize on that, and begin to brag. Anywhere you see 2 or 3 Ife students, their presence is always felt with the intimidating GREAT IFE talk/shout/greeting. |
spikedcylinder:Can't get what you mean! Do you mean OAU doesn't match these schools or they don't match OAU? Insult? To OAU or to those schools? Clarify pls |
tkb417:Funny funny replies, I can't stop laughing |
Gone, surely, are the days when Super Eagles were feared not only in Africa but thruout the world. Then bookmakers will think twice before predicting Argentina as favourites pre-Nigeria-Argentina clash. Then Nigeria was reverredas being in the same class with countries like Argentina,Spain etc. Pre-match analysts will easily give 'the favourites' tag to Nigeria when they faced average European countries like Bulgaria,Greece. That was how highly rated the Eagles were then. Suddenly, like a pack of cards, all the glory began to crumble. They totally lost reckoning in world football, and pitiably in Africa too. Countries like Angola,Gabon,Sierra Leone,Rwanda,Kenya,Niger,Lesotho and other hitherto minnows began to have gut to say they can beat Nigeria anytime they were grouped with Eagles in one qualifiers or the other. In recent time countries like Angola,Gabon,Lesotho,Sierra Leone,Uganda have either beaten the Eagles or drew with them or Eagles eking an uninspiring victory against them. But today, with the Uche brothers marshalling the resurgence of Eagles,I believe these Eagles will fly again. I believe the current Eagles can hold,if not beat, a country like France,England,Sweden etc. Pls Spain and Holland and even Italy are not included in my etc |

mekk:Good you are honest. But I guess you are not living in Nigeria, because by picking none, the implication is that it's either you will rather not go to University at all or in other country because the poser was premised on the assumption that those were the 3 universities in Nigeria. It appears you didn't get the the poser right. By the way,I also agree that Nigerian universities have not been faring well on webometric World/Continental ranking. But that is not the issue in this thread. |
There is a world of differences between them, Exposure, experience, roles, learning etc affect maturity but age is natural. In order words, age is static, unalterable, beyond control but maturity may not. |
http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=709034&highlight=kanu Read and contribute. Or freshly put,who do you regard as the best dribbler in the world? |
If niger delta is situated in the north, they would have said they are 'muslim terrorist'

Abii o |
Which of those three schools do you respect most? Students and graduates of the three schools are not meant to participate because they will obviously be biased. Comments from people from other schools are most welcomed. Or should we put as: Which of these three schools would you have chosen to go if they were the only 3 Universities in Nigeria? As for me I go like this: 1) OAU Ife 2) UNILag 3) UI |
Who is Africa's greatest footballer ever? Personally I believe its George Weah. I think CAF came up with a similar thing to mark their 50th anniversary. I can't recall the order but I think its like this: 1. Roger Milla 2,George Weah 3, 4,Eto'o 5, 6, 7, 8,Kanu 9, 10, 11, 12,Okocha I can't recall the exact order but I'm sure Kanu was rated no 8 and the only Nigerian that made the top 10. JJ was rated no 12. Eto'o no 4. Yekinni no 17.I think Abedi Pele,Drogba and Essien also made the top 10. Do you agree Kanu is Nigeria greatest footballer ever? I think I agree, and will also place JJ no 2. As for Africa, personally I 'll give it to Weah, followed by Roger Milla and Eto'o in that order. |
stereo2: Omolola1:Men, I was laughing aloud when I read these posts, forgetting I'm even in office. Thank God,my colleagues didn't ask what was wrong!! Sincerely I didn't want to laugh when I at first when I saw such 'igilarities' in the topic, but as I read on,the comments comments posted by the posters above made me burst into laughter. I don't like looking down upon a fellow being, but sincerely ENCOURAGEMENT is too popular a word to be mistaken for COURAGEMENT(which anyway doesn't exist),moreso by a final year student in a higher institution.!!! But this is not to say this guy can't become a better person than even those of us that have in our heads dictionary. I'll advise he goes and write PCE and go to poly, for I doubt if he is a university material. |
About seven years ago I had a friend who was a staunch Chelsea supporter. I used to wonder why Chelsea,of all teams? Then it was either Man U or Arsenal,or maybe Okocha's Bolton that Nigerians wanted to hear about then. Chelsea was just a little-above-average team then, competing for 4th place with Newcastle, before Newcastle also met their own. That was Pre-Abrahamovich,Pre-Mourinho. Then came the Russian billionaire and the dramatic Portugese, and overnight,Chelsea became a club to reckon with in the EPL. The period coincided with the period EPL became ultra-popular in Nigeria, and before you said CHE, ,a lot of Nigerians had joined the train. Today, this friend of mine is the only Pre-Mourinho Chelsea fan I know, and these are people I know really watch football. I'm sorry to say,95% of Chelsea fans in Nigeria started watching/following EPL in the last 4 years. Most Chelsea fans don't know ball. For religious reason I'm not a die-hard fan of any foreign club but in all humility,I must say I have been watching football for quite long and I also read a lot about football. I always have sympathy for Arsenal/Barca though, but don't like to address myself as fan of these clubs. I watch football for fun,not as a crazy fan of any club. I think Liverpool fans are the true football fans in Nigeria. Here is a simple, modest club that doesn't have any Nigerian interest unlike Mikel's Chelsea and Kanu's Arsenal. For anybody to say he's a Nigerian supporter of Liverpool,he should be a real person of football like Qasim Elegbede etc Following Liverpool is Man U,much as I hate this club. This club enjoys wide support in Nigeria, yet no Nigerian has ever played there. Moreso my interactions with people have shown that Man U fans are always very informed in football(Chelsea fans the worst in football knowledge---imagine a Chelsea fan telling me Zola and Mutu played together in Chelsea, apology to the few ones that know football among them). I had difficulty choosing who the real football fans are btw Man U and Liverpool but I found out that Man U's treble in 1999 attracted many Nigerians to them, I gave it to Liverpool fans Arsenal? Hmmmmmm, Kanu popularized this club in Nigeria. But even after Kanu's exit its till enjoys great support in Nigeria. Arsenal fans are also people of football knowledge and I recognise that just about half of Arsenal's support in Nigeria is accounted for by Kanu factor. Good football plus Igwe factor make up for the rest. By the way, where are the once many Bolton fans in Nigeria? Oh sorry, they've gone with JJ, and most now Chelsea fans. Disclaimer: I will not be responsible for break of keyboard in an attempt to reply this topic!!!! |
At the moment,I believe this is our strongest 11 (4-5-1) -----------------------------------Enyeama------------------------------------------- Ordiah----------------Yobo-------------------Shittu--------------------------Taiwo -------------------------------------Ayila------------------------------------------------ ------------------------Kalu Uche----------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------------------Mikel----------------------------------- Osaze----------------------------------------------------------------------------Ike Uche -------------------------------------Martins------------------------------------------------- Bench Kanu for Mikel Yakubu for Martins Utaka for Osaze NB: 1, Before you query my 4-5-1 formation, recall that Ike Uche and Osaze are attackers. So its almost like 4-3-3. 2,I know a lot of people will not agree with my starting Martins ahead of Yak, but i just have more confidence in Martins on field than Yakubu, and I can't explain the reason. But maybe it's because Martins is more hardworking and has undying fighting spirit from start to end of game. But I admit Yak is a more clinical finisher!!! |
C Ronaldo, my choice. |
Good talk from Benjani. Being a Nigerian would have surely helped his career more,I also believe. But even without being a Nigerian, he is highly rated and,as far as I'm concerned, ranks in the same class with Yakubu & Martins. He may not be skilful, but very powerful, hardworking and committed. What he did in Portsmouth and now doing in Man City shows he is truly a Nigeria-class player. If he had been a Nigerian he may not have been our automatic NO 9, but he would have surely given Martins and Yak a run for the standing 9 shirt, and who knows his commitment than these players could have won him the coveted place!!! Take heart Benjani,it's a pity Zimbabwe can never qualify for World cup, at least for now. So keep supporting Nigeria!!!!! |
olabowale:You have said it all!!!! That is my conviction too. |
FUNNY, PLAYERS NO WAN DIE!!!!!!!!!!! MARK FISH Any way,who watched the match? How did the match go? |
players no wan die!!!!!!!!!!! |
http://punchontheweb.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20080627140343 Okocha testimonial: Bomb scare at airport By Adekunle Salami, Warri Published: Friday, 27 Jun 2008 There was pandemonium at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos on Thursday when one Jide Aminu forced the delay of the chartered flight conveying Austin Okocha and his guests to Warri, Delta State for his farewell match on Thursday. Skip to next paragraph File Former Super Eagles captain, J Aminu, who was aboard the flight, waited till the plane was taxing before he notified the IRS airline officials that Abuja, not Warri, was his destination. In sympathy, the pilot made a U-Turn, apparently to enable him to alight. However, the situation attracted a sharp protest from the passengers, including s members of the Super Eagles, except Yakubu Aiyegbeni and coach Shaibu Amodu. The foreign players on board were Portsmouth‘s Sulley Muntari, Man City‘s Bejani Mwaruwari, Mark Fish, Bolton‘s El-Hadji Diouf, The protesters insisted that it was dangerous to allow Aminu alight from the plane, fearing he could have planted a bomb on it. They demanded that the man, who claimed to be a banker and was on his way to Abuja to defend a N300m budget, travel on the flight to Warri to assure them that he did not plant any dangerous object on the plane. Fish insisted that Aminu‘s presence on board was the best security guarantee. The passengers were further alarmed when Aminu told them that he had booked for a 9.45am flight to Abuja but only to board an 11.30am flight to Warri. Fearing that the situation might disrupt its business, the airline officials decided to calm nerves by taking sides with the protesters and insisting that Aminu must go on board to Warri and return with the flight to Lagos before joining the one to Abuja. Aminu eventually travelled on the plane to Warri and everyone was happy. Pre-Oil Nigeria was better. So without Oil at all, Nigeria will not have problem. But having become 'spoilt' by oil now,if the Oil dries up today,we are in trouble!!! |
Once. |
mukina2:This is very wonderful. I had always thought you are a Nigerian. But you are one of the most active posters on this Nigerian forum. You have a very good command of happenings in Nigeria. Your versatility(sport, religion, politics, name it) dazes me!!!! I love you for Allah's sake(no toasting ooooo!!) |
blkmum700:Happily, the link you posted is my own source too. Read down to PERSONAL LIFE sub-title and you will see this: Personal life "Henrik's father is from the Cape Verde Islands, off the coast of West Africa, and his mother is Swedish. In 1996 he married his childhood sweetheart, Magdalena. They have two children, Jordan (born 1997) and Janelle (born 2002). Henrik still occasionally returns to Scotland to visit his long-time conditioning coach Dr Paul Bryson" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henrik_Larsson Nani is even more Cape-verdean, unlike Larsson,he was born in Cape Verde: "About Nani: Nani, whose full name is actually Luis Carlos Almedia Da Cunha has recently been in the news for his high profile move to top-flight English side Manchester United. Born in Cape Verde on 17th November 1986 Nani has become widely regarded as one of the most exciting youth prospects in recent years. Although born in Cape Verde Nani migrated to Portugal with his family and grew up in Lisbon. This is most ridiculous!!!! I was caught in their trap in January. I had come to Lagos for anaptitude test. The day b4 the test I went out with my brother's jeep to make photocopies of my credentials at Ikota shopping complex. As I came out of the shopping complex trying to turn, some guys in uniform just blocked me,opened the doors and entered the car. My offence: I had made Illegal U-turn,and i will have to pay 25,000. I was driven to their office and my car impounded. All my pleas fell on deaf ears. Thank God, one of their ogas finally listened to my plea that I was a corps member bla bla. Well I parted with N2000. |
Tegese:For asking such question, it's either you are a JJC in Nairaland or you don't go to RELIGION THREAD, and I presume the former. Dr Kitaun:Thank you jare Dr. Kitaun, let whoever doesn't know ask the owner of this forum(Seun-I hope Tegese will not ask who is Seun again) Not to leave you(Tegese) totally lost, let me give you this simple assignment and you will understand all what we've been saying: Type OFURUFU IS A M'USLIM (remove that apostrophe after M ,i.e spell the word normally)and post it as reply. Whatever you see let me know!!!! No be magic oooooooooooooooo |
My own formula that solves FLIGHTPHOBIA consists of two parts: 1. As a Muslim, I believe in Qadar(Predestination). So If Allah had decreed I'm going to die by plane crash, there is just no preventing it. However Islam also teaches us that PRAYER can have effect. So after praying, I leave the rest to God,no fear again--what will happen will happen 2.I use the theory of probability: More than 500 flights take place during the year and the maximum that end up crashing in a year is 3. So the probability that the plane I'm travelling in will crash is very slim (roughly 3/500). Why not relax and assume nothing will happen That's my own panacea to FLIGHT PHOBIA |

because he didnt indicate the level he is now.
