PoliticsRe: Politicisation Of Boko Haram Insurgency, Bane Of Nigeria’s Anti-terror Fight by ogbronx(m): 8:52pm On Sep 11, 2014
4Play: There is a certain irony in the headline as Lai Mohammed has been in the front line in the battle to gain political capital from the Boko Haram menace.

It's hard to tackle a problem if there is no national consensus that it exists. The Government has shown a callous disregard for the victims of Boko Haram and an utter lack of a sense of urgency. The opposition opposed even the mere imposition of states of emergency and its presumed flag bearer, Buhari, proclaimed that we should cease killing Boko Haram members and pursue the amnesty option coupled with monetary compensation for Boko Haram followers.

Even now as Boko Haram takes over towns, there is still no sense of urgency. GEJ acts like a callous pyschopath who doesn't realise his country is burning. The Nigerian people are busy debating inanities like whether Buhari or Ihejirika is behind Boko Haram. It's a very provincial mindset that plagues this country as there is a refusal to see that there is an global Islamist terror movement and Nigeria has caught its attention.
Saying the truth with eloquence!

Pennywise: A despotic leader is a dangerous leader.

An ineffective leader is a more dangerous leader.

But a clueless leader is the most dangerous of them all.

We are witnessing the first steps of the complete unravelling of the Nigerian state and all our senators and reps are interested in is sharing money. What a shame.
Its really a shame. I sometimes wonder if we had been immunised with a vaccine that had side-effects of dullness and heartlessness.
Take for example the Adamawa elections , all what PDP and APC are concerned about it winning the place. In sane societies, one party would have threatened to boycott the elections on security grounds till the FG shows real commitment to fighting BH there.
Here on nairaland, u often read where pple say its northerners killing themselves with BH and therefore, its not their problem. Myopia is a disease!
I think that the average Nigerian is very insensitive. We witnessed this during in the chibok kidnap saga. Some dare to say it was stage-managed and so no girls where were taken. It beats me how inhuman some pple can be for bigotry sake.
If Nigeria disintegrates , there would still be marginalisation of minorities, high level corruption , ethnic crisis and wide spread poverty in the various regions as only the elites would control state resources.

BlackTechnology: Nigeria's greatest problem is not corruption but lack of understanding of how best to take her people out of poverty into wealth.

There is no country that do not have corrupt leaders

Its just that the systems those nations operate have made the effect of corruption insignificant in the life of those nations

If you are GEJ list out the steps you will take to lift out Nigerians out of poverty into wealth.

So my brother over stressing on corruption is not the way out but finding out new ways of solving our problems

This is the same mistake Sanusi made when he over stress on corruption and ended up achieving nothing unlike his predecessor (Soludo) who knew corruption is not the ultimate problem but lack of understanding of how the financial system affects the masses which he understood and properly managed to the point whereby his CBN policies influenced the creation of
1) Bank jobs for unemployed graduates
2) Investment pools for investors
3) Bank money for Businesses and self employment

At the end of both men as CBN chiefs , Soludo era created more jobs while Sanusi era created more joblessness

On a lighter note

List one world leader that is not corrupt
you know! You have asked a very good question here. In fact , I was going to create a thread here for that. Topic would have been "positive criticism of GEJ administration on policies and competence of his administration." It will shock you to know that even here on nairaland, we ll have pple with better ideas than GEJ led admin.
I don't see gej as a bad man. I only know he is incompetent and can't go against forces that made him who he is- the president

He gives a damn about Americans and what they in their papers!!

He gives a damn about Hillary Clinton!!

He "doesn't give a damn about us"!!

Only fools would insist on the continuation of such classless, careless, corrupt, lying, and unbelievably inept and incompetent regime!!
The fools are mostly paid nairaland typist and silly illiterate Nigerians . I have not come accros one intelligent person offline who thinks this admin isn't clueless, inept and corrupt. Its ineptitude is what is responsible for the BH getting out of hand.
Always giving excuses for its failures and blaming others. One often wonders if this admin knows why it was voted into power in the first place.

Let's call a spade a spade......Jonathan is a failure

It is only people who relish averageness as a norm in their lives that will score GEJ a D7.......for me his result hover around the borderline of E8-F9

GEJ rather than be a Nigerian President is now a friend of ethnic bigots, religious fanatics, tribal supremacists, militants, secessionists, corrupt looters, cultists and bootlickers
Your last paragraph is why I dislike his govt the more. The man himself is a bigot. Who knows if he says in his mind like the average bigot here on nairaland who say that the problem of the north is for the northerners and so, they should kill themselves. They don't care.
I hate bigots with a passion. I prefer animals to them.

@ OP, bigotry beclouds one's judgement. You have probably been beclouded by your sentiments and so, you would defend mediocrity. When you go the to hospital to see a doctor, do you care where he is from? Nope? Its because you want a competent doctor right? This is how we should choose who becomes a president.
All bigots are the same to me. Be they bigots for GEJ or bigots against gej. They are all guilty of the same idiocy and parochialism. Northeners want northern president as do southerners clamour for theirs. Both are same as characteristics like competence, experience ,background and achievements are thrown to the wind.
To me, gej is incompetent. I said this bfor 2011 elections and I have been proven right. All my predictions came out to be right. From his antecedents and careful analysis of his speach , one would most likely say, the man himself is a bigot.

skyfall: APC surely has many imperfections that need to be corrected. In fact i criticize them a lot. But PDP doesn't even come close.

Give me a choice between both, and i'll choose APC anyday. The only thing that's keeping PDP together is the common interest they share in looting the commonwealth and holding power just for the sake of it. They have absolutely no clue about solving the gargantuan problems of Nigeria. They don't even admit that we have problems anyway. To them, Nigeria is heaven.

Any party that thinks Goodluck Jonathan is the best Nigeria has to offer, is evil and you should run away from it.

The likes of Doyin and co are people without integrity. Anyone one of them could gone in the way of Mandela and have huge support from the masses.
I watched with annoying dismay as ffk was talking nonsense on channels TV talk show.
If one is very observant, you would have noticed the surge of pple in the likes of doyin and ffk defending lies that ordinary Nigerians already know. It has become business as articulated lawyers and youths show-off oratory skills in defence of govt lies and shenanigans so as to be bought over for monetary gains. Prostitutes, that is what they are.

Science/TechnologyRe: 10 Mysteries That Science Can't Explain by ogbronx(m): 8:51pm On Sep 04, 2014
As it was in the time of Noah, so would it be before the second coming of Jesus. The time of Noah experience information explosion as we are beginning to experience now. It was probably why the pple then laughed at Noah for building something ancient as a wooden ship. Its very possible that they had the kind of science and technology we have today or probably better.
One thing that man has shown over time is intellectual ingenuity. The pple at Noah's time could have been at their peak in science and technology but typical of man as we are starting to see in our time, man forgets God in pursuit of knowledge.
More and more scientist are beginning to embrace the idea of master creator. Many are puzzled with even the creation of TIME. I don't want to delve into that here.
Biblical accuracy has left many wondering and accepting the things not seen. Its proper that young minds research on things like the nephelim, the Torah code and most controversial shroud of Turin.
Evolution is lie. Some animals have gone extinct but saying that things evolved is a hoax. Man being a very fragile being would have evolved to have capabilities like camouflage and flight. who wouldn't want that?

ImHotepX: BananaBender and 50calibre

I was going to call it a day when I saw this thread.

I think the both of you are right. Both the government and the people are responsible for the woes of Nigeria.

Government: in as much as Nigeria is just a mere geographical expression/location on a map occupied by Nigerians - the government since its inception started the systematic destruction on the mentality of the people. And the fault-lines for sentiments were further instilled into the psyche of the people with creating a centralised system that never bothered to analyse how the country would work, and create a dialogue on the way forward for the different ethnic nationalities - and how to douse the fears of ethnic domination over the other. That was how sycophancy, and tribal sentiments were planted into Nigerian mentality. I'd wager that a lot of these sycophants do whatever they do based on that.

Then, you have to also consider how a long period of military dictatorship enmeshed permanent fear in the minds of the average Nigeria. I believe that affected the people so much that it has become a vicious cycle - and failure has become part of the everyday life of the day. And once you throw faith and always hoping, rather than going out to what you want and your entitlement into the mix, then you should get a better picture. Also, once you look at the education system, created by the government, and how it has failed the people - you definitely can't absolve the government for creating this vicious cycle of destruction. People more time are just a product of the environment.

People: in as much as the people are also those who make up the government, perhaps, you should blame the system for systematically destroying the people, who end up becoming the government. However, it's also difficult to absolve the people since we live in an age where information is universal with globalisation. And accessing information and enlightenment, has never been by easier in real time in history humanity. So, it's the responsibility of the people to be able to self-educate themselves on what's right and what their entitlements are, devoid of sentiments, and stand collectively against tyranny and whatever destructive forces are holding their collective destiny to ransom. So, blaming the people for their insensitivity, selfishness, and aversion to change, is also right.

Hotep!

Ciao!
Very true!

PoliticsRe: Are You Part Of The 61% Approval Of President Jonathan's performance? by ogbronx(m): 10:25am On Sep 03, 2014
I can never support incompetence and mediocre person. GEJ is both incompetent and mediocre and a failure to south south but Nigeria has never voted and judged a president based on performance or competence so GEJ should be allowed to go for 2015.
My fear is that Naija would have more security problems than we do now if Gej loses this election. Naija is highly polarized and its pple are sheepish in thinking. We will have to contend with boko haram, militants from south south and possibly opc and massob.
Four years would soon come and go and those blind supporters and baseless clamouring for 2015 would be non-existent. Then we might have our real nairaland back.
Expect massive rigging by Inec in favour of the incumbent govt.

The greatest investment a nation can do its develop its human resource. This development entails the thinking sophistication of its populace. one area that the govt bfor now has deliberately neglected
It doesn't come as a surprise when you read nonsense written by either bigots or paid pple. Nigerians are seemingly very "mine-idle" and even if a goat becomes president and only bleats, it would still have massive support for its money or because its originates from a particular place.
First thing, I strongly believe that GEJ is only a stooge. That is why he still hasn't declared for 2015 while wasting the countries money on irrelevances like TAN, TV adverts and even on image repair on foreign mags.
This admin stinks of corruption. All its policies are ill-timed and covered in lies because of selfish undertones. Standard of many sincere and hard working Nigeria's reduced.
In no time in Nigerian history has our collective wealth(oil) is stolen unabated. More money is spend on propaganda the work.
We have never experience a president so unguarded in speech like GEJ. one whose first lady is an utter disgrace to the nation. Even the arrangement of these two(gej and pej) leaves one with many questions.
Nowadays, anyone who doesn't celebrate mediocrity is called a hater? Is everyone suppose to agree with you? even that is a test to ones quality of leadership. Most gej supporters share the same religious and ethnic bias as him.
No doubt, GEJ has a huge chance in 2015 because they know Nigerians vote with their hearts and not mind. The same reason he won 2015.
GEJ is a failure and a disgrace to us from south south. if you don't see this, you have failed also in your head for you may probably be irredeemable from myopia.
I have not met one single sensible person in real life that likes this govt.
PS. those who don't know, disliking a govt doesn't necessarily mean hating the president. GEJ ll kill you all.

Seriously, if you dont see the master card thing and logo of a foreign company on something as important as our national ID an aberration, then you must be dumb. This gej govt clearly revealed to me that majority of Nigerians are parochial.
Come may 2015 or 2019 when GEJ will be leaving aso villa, these set of parochial pple would be dumber than today. This theory is best explained by another example which is, the home video industry as it is now, makes(proven please from a research) pple dumb. GEJ also has this effect on almost all his supporters.
Ask a supporter why he wants GEJ to continue in office, you won't get reasonable answers other than those related to bigotry or the lies of a transformation agenda.
What is really disheartening is the way other regions would view my south south region where some of the best minds are from. The irony beats me.
This admin stinks of mediocrity.
