vicadex07: Forget abt PDP or APC or anything. Just give me a party without GEJ and I will vote for them. That man is a lying snail. The greatest liar ever. No wonder he said he was very much interested in the youths and media...so as to directly feed them with his lies so they can go against each other whilst they continue looting. Nairaland is a unique example. Everyone here is always bickering about one political party or the other.See person wey get sense? Truth is that APC has failed as the much anticipated formidable opposition we hoped for.PDP is the bane of genuine development in Nigeria since 1999. If you ask me, they are a cult desperate for power and can go any length to see that they remain in power forever. To this, they employ all kinds of tricks on any strong opposition party like the APC (which they have finished) to ruin them. Bros, its not just gej, he is merely playing pdp's script. Its the party, like cancer, the its killing this country gradually. |
jakiedudu: Are you a supporter of APC?Did I not say it? Simpleminded, are you? |
nurasurajo: Goodluck trys his best but the northerns elders have failed their peoples they represented. They are after their selfish interests 'power'. If, all the northerns elder united boko haram will be history without the intervention of president. @op, what are the major steps northerns elder have taken since the menance started? Every body have to contribute positively 4 the country to developed.with your infinite wisdom, why not suggest to the northern elites how they can fight the book haram insurgency? Pls come up with realistic and plausible ways they could fight BH. The world is waiting on you please. They desperately need you solution to book haram. Thanks! |
take it or Ieave it. Most PDP bootlickers are simple-minded pple from my observations here on NL and my everyday association. Like some would st*pidly conclude that am apc . |
BY CHARLES KUMOLU FOR a death that claimed only one life at the Aso Rock Clinic on July 7, 1998, it is an irony that the import of that mysterious event, now symbolises the multifaceted challenges militating against the future of over 170million lives. Though opinions are still divided as to whether the death of Chief MKO Abiola is of any significance to Nigeria’s journey to nationhood, many see the death as a supreme sacrifice for the enthronement of an enduring democracy. This feeling is so common among the majority of Nigerians, who are still sad that the hope and confidence the election promised, were dashed under circumstances still regarded as questionable till date. With the immediate pains of that bungled era are no longer too hurtful, the scars of that historical episode have continued to live with a every Nigeria. Same could be said of Abiola’s ghost which has continued to hunt Nigerians from the deadly Sambisa forests to the relatively calm creeks of the Niger Delta region. Analysts argue that had the nagging issues that created June 12 annulment and Abiola’s subsequent death been resolved, his ghost would have been resting in peace regardless of the injustice believed to have been meted unto him by the state. But with the issues of ethnicity, religion, leadership, political culture among others, which Abiola was believed to have fought to have them bettered, still holding the nation down, Abiola’s ghost still hoover across the land sixteen years after. This is why friends and associates put aside the emotional pains of loosing Abiola, who is the assumed winner of the polls, to demand for a Nigeria where all the institutions of the state work at a forum organised to mark the sixteen years of his death yesterday in Lagos. Like the generality of opinions across the country, those at the event which was held at Abiola’s Ikeja residence unanimously agreed that Abiola’s death ultimately benefited Nigeria’s political development, although perhaps, not as he intended. In her remarks, President of Campaign for Democracy, CD, Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, said, “The very democratic tree his victory planted has withered as we are still in search of real democracy in our clime. The only reparation Nigeria can pay MKO is to ensure that a new order emerges from the on-going National Conference to instill justice, equity and fairness in our body politic. “These are the very virtues MKO defended till he died. Once again, we salute the memory of President M K O Abiola, the only truly elected President of Nigeria whose election was clean, free and fair and adjudged so by local and international observers”, she noted. She further observed that: “Abiola displayed uncommon courage, unparalleled dignity and unusual candour in defence of the mandate reposed in him by change seeking Nigerians who trooped out to vote for him in 1993 and engaged all the illegal regimes that held sway while the legal president was languishing in jail. 16 years after his elimination, President Abiola still stands tall than all his adversaries and his murderers.” In addition, Okei-Odumakin said: “ He represents what Nigeria is capable of being but which we are not because of the machinations of a greedy cabal. All the troubles of Nigeria which his victory was about to abolish are the very things that are threatening the corporate existence of the country today. A country that elected Abiola with a Muslim running mate would not hear of such today as it is badly divided along regions and religions. We are now remembering MKO in the midst of insurgency ruins, Chibok abductions and people burying their dead in the Boko Haram harvest of blood. His memory challenges us to end terror in Nigeria.” Going down memory lane she recalled that “ July 7 marks the 16th anniversary of the liquidation of President MKO Abiola, the man popularly elected by Nigerians as president on June 12, 1993. President Abiola was eliminated after over four years of incarceration and his blunt refusal to compromise his principled belief that a mandate given by over 14 million Nigerians cannot be overturned.” |

abeg where that guy wey de use binoculars look into naija future and no dey see anything?

zicoraads: Most Nigerians have failed to realise that it isnt the executive that has actually failed us, the legislature has failed us more. They are sorely responsible for checkmatine the executive and have failed in doing so.As in eh! totally lost its trajectory. We have crossed the x-axis and still going down if you plot the graph. Let's be hopeful that its youth would restore it though. |
Oahray: nice angle. You are right. You are right. Though this "emotional dullness" Lol, is exaggerated. The case of "greenlite" turned down by guys could be for many reasons like shyness, complex or the guy isn't really interested. I have experienced where a gal hated a dude after long periods of green lite and nothing from the guy. He knew she was interested in him but he didn't want anything more than friendship. Many guys know when women fancy them and are interested but for many reasons act like they don't see it. Also, MANY men understand women's non-verbal signs too but Ego and machismo might get in the way. I really think its just the approach that differs how men and women react to emotional issues. Simply put, men are also as soft but have to act tough cos we have to. We have emotions too. Some couples really understand themselves emotionally and all. These type are memorable and withstand outside influences. The whole thing is completed though. |
ideology: Well said, but till tomorrow, men will Always be Emotional, they Just wanna hid it because of their Previous Experience or Don't Wanna be seen as weak,So very true! |
Dance/trance and Rock(alternative, gospel and Gothic) |
Nice write-ups and basically true but let me add an observation here, lots of ladies are emotionally selfish. Men have emotional needs too. Most men stopped caring and being emotionally involved because in most relationships, it is not reciprocated. Good relationship give mutual attention to feelings of the couple. The guys here would agree with this that women are the reasons why men seem not to be emotional these days. We men are born to be tough but gentle and caring to one person we really care about which usually turns disastrous when she let's you down. Many men have lost faith in women and the few who do are regarded as Mugu. |
These stories by the army sounds fictitious. I heard it on channels news and no video or reporter's account. Just the army's. 3hours is enough for a reporter to have arrived there na. even after the gun battle, nobody including the landlord was interviewed? Baba sef! |
can u imagine? These states have not been created yet pple here are already fighting over where should be headquarters and all. Even read some suggesting more states in addition to 18 new ones. some disadvantages are ; 1. It will further weaken the struggle for states autonomy and strengthen this govt at the centre that will never bring real (not just roads constructive) development. 2. Under the present political structure, creation of more states means more corruption. Don't be too surprised to learnt that some of those delegates will seek key positions in new states if created. 3. The govt would be more expensive to run. Presently, we use about 70% of our budget on bureaucracy. Creation of states would stretch this more. |
The good thing with being a christian is that it doesn't require everyone to share your faith but feels good when you are those who do.God also wouldn't force you to come to Him but His arms are wide open to receive you when from your free will you chose to come to Him. people should also get their facts right, Christianity isnt western by Origin. The power that follows the gospel of Jesus is what you see around you. Pple converting everywhere. Thinking about it makes you wonder because its a very different thing from the ways of man. its the hardest belief to accept yet is gaining grounds like wild fire. God has given you the choice, and has planned that we come back to Him when illusionary life fades. We can't see Him cos of our weakness but He has given us a name to cleanse us. Its your choice. |
Its not a good time to be a soldier. These politicians are just wasting the lives of these young fathers, brothers and uncles senselessly. If this admin is committed to security, these soldiers won't be dying in these large numbers? Is this not the same army that goes on peace missions with high success? Attention is on 2015 and stealing of our wealth which have made the govt very blind to its responsibilities. If this govt is really sincere in fighting this insurgency thing, they won't be carrying these raids with the level of success as they have now. |
ogtavia: Leave the OP my brother,he is Reuben Abati's personal assistant on nairaland matters...God will deliver our minds in d country, the worst slavery a man can be under is the slavery of d mind...so because of road constructn he should serve another term, why do we keep praising all dis yeye politician when they come with their cosmetics development,if they construct roads, build some nonsense buildings, everyone starts praising them, what were they supposed to do in office,I will NEVER EVER give kudos to any leader until he makes laws that the common man on the street will feel directly or indirectly,...Naija's case is sadly nt a paradox, its nt a phenomenon, its nt a peculiar one,its just a simple case of leader's being selfish and citizens being foolish,...and the politicians will always thrive, strategy is ; deny people of certain essential things by way of laws, human rights priviledges such that when election time comes,a liittle money,a little bag of rice here and a lot of lies there, Nigeria citizens fall with their backs on d floor with their legs opened wide like a loose woman hooked on the promises of a playboy who will only leave her pregnant after a few months after getting what he has wanted...and surprising four years later, she falls for the same lies and falsehood, leadership must change, forget PDP or APC or their likes,a bad tree will never produce good fruits....as for me,I will never give kudos to any politician until I go out and see smiles on d faces of d people of the land and for all those who are moved when u see road construction, buildings, flowers, roundabouts, bridges,SHAME ON YOU and I am sorry for you..1million likes |
The Oba's son couldn't even express himself eloquently. a son of a prominent citizen for that matter. The process that selects our leaders is fundamentally flawed. |
Positiveminds: Since USA know so much about Boko Haram, they should tell us who the sponsors are. Methinks there are world powers that want to break up Nigeria at all cost for their own economic interests. If they are able to break it up for their economic benefit, what does that tell of the country in the first place? There are different perspectives(including yours) to this BH thing and all seems logical and true. Bros, the ordinary man is left in the dark, that's why running into conclusions and calling names and pointing fingers ignorantly, portrays one as dumb. For me, I know truth would come out someday. Lets just hope that it doesn't come too late. |
nagoma: So in your foolish opinion GEJ did something good in his life as president ?Bros, have you seen any of f the adverts abi propaganda on television by one transformation ambassadors ? You will be so pissed. I mean, what do these pple take Nigerians for? smh I tell. I have learnt not to border with senselessness of some peeps like the person u quoted because they will always be here. Just be happy that you you don't reason so badly. |
vicadex07: I don't know how you people reason. If you believe boko haram is incapable of the kidnap then you're dumber than I thought. How about the 40 schools boy that were killed mercilessly prior to the kidnap or the inccessant bombings in the north that continues till date. Are they all lies propagated by the opposition to make Jonathan look silly. The only reason Jonathan and Jonathanians are refusing to believe the chibok kidnap is because of the unexpected worldwide outrage and media coverage concerning the kidnaps that exposed his, cluelessness, incompetence and callousness as a leader. My advice to all Jonanthanians...pls rent a brain.I laff tire oh! The rent a brain thing funny die. If only sense is sold in the open market, those selling would have made money from Nairaland I swear. This place is just too filled with low-sense and unenlightened pple. Some are like animals and others are literate but not educated. |
sheriffman: I am beginning to believe the theory that truly People get the kind of leaders they get.Especially in the Nigerian scenerio. The internet has given space to alot of babies to whine.Coming to Nairaland I now post less and less because I feel so so sad whenever I go through post concerning any National discourse and feel their pulse via their responses. You said it all brother. Its really pathetic the Nigerian leadership and followers. We deserve these pple in power. It only is so hurting to the very few who are of higher thinking. Nairaland is now populated by mostly mentally-poor pple and doesn't come as a surprise because of poor educational system. Imagine this on international news that senate disallows presidential debate. Its only a mind devoid of intelligence that is devoted to a cause or person without merit or logic. leaders are greedy and lack vision while the youths are all these and disoriented. |
These BH pple are still not getting the results they hoped to have by now. Spread panic and fear everywhere and in everyone.I see them intensifying their acts of terror. I guess what the prof has said is true to some extent because in other climes, these events would have caused a civil war already. Though there is palpable fear and hatred for northern Muslims because it of BH carnage,Nigerians have not resorted to civil war. Having said this, its pertinent we also accept the truth that though Nigeria would merely be regarded as a country, we were never a nation. ethnic and religious bigotry is nothing new and would not stop anytime soon. Its either confederation or we go our separate ways. |
ogaju007: I share your views however, the growth on paper will never ever, never ever filter down to the people as long as we have greedy bastards in power. Nigeria is fine as it is (All we need to do is change our greedy mentality). When a senator, governor, president starts to think of the people before themselves only then will Nigeria rise but until then, we will only see road and building construction but no real impact for the common man.well said brother, however one can not stop greed in pple. Achieving meaningful developments( not just roads construction and the likes) would be very difficult in a country whose political structure is wrong. Nigeria has witnessed so many good policies that couldn't be properly implemented because the the polity frustrates them. I humbly say that without autonomy of the states, we would find it difficult to have real (not paper)growth. Autonomy allows for salient competition amongs states, growth at good pace, accountability than govt at the centre etc. |
aguiyi: The president is too tolerant, this is how the auto policy will become a charade. The same way he tolerated boko harm till they became a national embarrassment.that is how he tolerated slow poke ministers until they made his administration a laughing stock and went further to take the life of some youths in the name of recruitment exercise.Tolerant or incompetent? |
An insult to Nigerians. This goes to show how f.oolish these politicians see the average Nigerian. |
voltron: as long as he eats enuff guguru and epa,, and supplies pounded yam and amala to the people, they will vote him in landslide victory.. the people are very hungryand parochial! |
rychard: Whereas our players nd coach even refused going to brazil for the confederation cup because of bonuses.... Africans are always after what they can get for themselves regardless of the future generation or their fellow africans.. Its crazy!only a few Africans think of legacy |
Shine u Eye: solokon111 is the only one making sense here. Every country on earth protects its local manufacturers. Since the 70s Nigerians have always believed time is not right to take drastic measures to help our manufacturers. When will the time ever be right?Naija is a different place altogether. There is no policy that would work in a corrupt country like nigeria. |
