Honestly, this is unbelievable.
I was on this forum weeks ago asking about how to go about the change of name (as a man) and no concrete response was given (I understand that people may not have the answer to all questions). But I took a step of faith. Please read on
I booked a flight to Abuja and I got to the NIS HQ with knowing no one. I sat at the Data processing center studying the events while suddenly, I approach an officer ,he listened to me and directed to another officer and that one directed to another .
I was patient and finally met another officer who God used to help me.
Long story short .
My application for change of name was approved that same day
I captured that same day
I was given a slip that shows when my passport will be ready .
God showed me Mercy ( I can't explain)
The officer was carrying my file about as if I paid a huge money.
Please friends ask questions and do fact findings but above all don't place a man in the place of God.(I captured before the so called 'long leg' did there's)
I am not a pastor not a religious person.
But this one I know that God showed me Mercy in NIS HQ Abuja
Summary
Change of name plus charges .....30,900
My passport fee plus charges.........25,500
This excluded my return ticket flight (same day flight) and I gave that sweet officer a thank you token.
That's all I paid . My people , I landed MM2 10:38pm thereabout that same day I left .
Please try and help people always not for your gain. God be with u all.

Same thing they are collecting 150k from ppl and yet they have not even seen name change approval talk less of new passport. It is really sad what people are passing through with these NIS thieves. Congrats!

1. I really don't know which of the names to use?
2. Is it advisable to ignore the middle name part when filling for my passport, since am using it for school purpose?

u can change the name on ur nin. It costs 500 naira for data modification. Since u want to get a passprt later in the year, once u decide on the name u want for ur passprt pls start d name change for ur nin soonest. Do not wait until july.
Go onto remita and make the payment. To NIMC.
Then write an application letter addressd to nimc for what u want to do, attach ur remita receipt, affidavit of name change or name rearrangement or whatever u are doin and another official document of the name u want to be using onward.
Pls note, u need to decide which names u want to use and stop changing names as dis process in Mogeria is stressful

The officer that attended to her said she should go to Abuja or repay. Is there no other way round like paying a token for a change of location?

Pls hope you went with 2 consent forms for each child signed by each parent and father’s document as well. Also go with original marriage certificate.. you can go with your newspaper change of name and sworn affidavit if you hve, otherwise just go with the certificate

But please let me ask, did you fill Miss or Mrs when you were applying online?

Sorry about that.... I was asked to go and reprint everything simply because I used black and white. I paid N2500 to a cafe inside the office for my kids and I . Was surprised to see every other person's documents were black and white like mine but weren't told to reprint. Was cleared for capturing waiting for my file to reach capturing office like hours l, had to go back to where I was verified, and the officer said he later noticed I didn't attach my marriage certificate to my kids files blah blah and that was how I came back home. Still very angry �

u need your marriage certificate yes. But forget about that rubbish about you must bear your husband’s surname. That is a lie.
Lots of women are still answering their maiden names and travel with their kids and are certainly not flight risks or whatever.
Pls go back with your marriage certificate.

Port Harcourt people you need to rise and speak for yourself before this gets out of hand. Form an alliance and report to the official NIS numbers. It will be good to have names of officers doing this

Just budget 80k for lost password, like 50k for renewals . But if you are willing to wait forever. You can do it yourself with the official price

call the nis number and report them!! The number has been posted several times or send an email to nis with name of one or two ppl doing this and ur experience!!

I wanted to ask who's applying in Port Harcourt because I didn't have a smooth experience there today.
I applied online and had my interview scheduled for today
On getting there, I realized that those officers do not recognize the online date.
The officers were forming busy and appeared unfriendly
Here's what I concluded based on the questions I asked today
To start the process, you'd print out all relevant documents, take it to the third floor to open a file.
I was told that I should come with 7k for this.
After your file is opened, you'd get a text to come for interview
On the interview day, you'd be attended to at the ground floor after your name is called
I guess after the interview you'd be given a date to capture
Remember to write your name behind the building once you come.

u dnt give anyone money... go to the servicom desk and ur file will be opened and u will be sent to 3rd floor. Do not give anyone money
Stop askimg too many questions. Dress well. Go to the next building and buy file. Literally the next compound. 50 or 100 naira from the cybercafe. Price it to this price. Have all ur print outs and ask them to arrange it or go back to d passprt desk at d entrance and give them. Pls keep a straight face. This is gettin too much

Yesterday(17th june is my interview date) I went to the passport office in Akure, strictly DIY.
I went there around 1:30pm, with my complete documents.
My documents was filed and I got interviewed after which the file was vetted, I was called for capturing at around 5:10pm.
I was captured but unlike others I didn't get the printout which contained the enrollment number and collection date( I saw the collection date on the screen 28.06.2021).
I hope not knowing the enrollment number won't later be a problem.
I was the only DIY, others paid through one of the officers in excess of 35-50k.
Most of the folks doesn't even know they can pay themselves.

they should have given u a slip after capturing... how then will u be able to pick ur passprt without slip? Even if it is handwritten slip but u need it. Pls go and complain now tht it is early

Went to submit my wife's file and mine (DIY). Hers (renewal and change of name due to marriage) was rejected on the basis of not having my bio-data page of my passport despite me attaching my NIN, driver's license, marriage cert, affidavit, application letter for change of name due to marriage, consent letter and explaining that I just applied for a fresh passport and never had one before.
Made enquiries in NIS from 2 different states and they confirmed to me that it will be accepted in their respective command if I submitted it.

Am a bit confused currently..

Please I'm at very confused. I have my surname, and two of names in all my documents. Now that I'm married, my husband wants to replace my surname with his in my international passport. Truthfully, I do not want to part with my surname. Please can I yank off my middle name then add his surname? I'm willing to do the affidavit and also news paper publication. But I am scared , dont no if removing my middle name will pose any issue for me in the future, because I plan going for my Masters next year (oversea). Please advice

dnt do tht. Either u change ur surname or u dnt. Speak to ur husband.
As for surname, they do not care abroad. Alot of women are married and retain their maiden names, no one cares really

so after collecting ur money the fraudster is not picking ur calls. I dnt know why these ppl behave this way.
