FreeStuffsNG:

Only 2 are actually from the SE (one of the 2 SE candidates and the one with the authentic highest score schools in Yorubaland, Mowe,Ogun state,SW where she recieves her education in Yorubaland) , SS has 4 and 6 from SW that produced 50% of the top 12 scholars but 60% ( 6) of the top 10 scholars . So why the hullabaloo over Mmesoma Ejikeme who JAMB alleged of forging result?

Sincerely, the North has to step up but it's good not to cheat like Mmesoma Ejikeme. You guys can do it.
Congrats to all the scholars.

Next year, SW candidates must work extra hard and move up from this 60% of top 10 scholars to producing 100% of the top 10 scholars.

You Omoluabis are our shining stars, our hope and future, quit all the distractions and social media, grind hard , study hard for long hours and practice all the past questions over and over again and remain humble and respectful to your parents, teachers, elders and leaders (iwa loba awure) so you can extend our SW lead as the powerhouse of education in Nigeria and Africa. Yes we can!It is our heritage!God bless you our aburos.

You may not be right. South South especially Edo North has names similar to Yoruba while Delta North and some other part of Rivers have names similar to Igbo. There are just 4 clear South South names.

Religion / Church Of Nigeria Rebuke Church Of England For Requesting Same Sex Marriage by Oghene1st: 6:59pm On Jun 10, 2023
On the 9th of February 2023, the Synod of the Church of England voted in favour of the proposals of the House of Bishops to approve the Church’s blessing of Same-Sex marriages while at the same time claiming that it has not changed its traditional doctrine recognizing that marriage is between a man and a woman. This disingenuous manipulation of language to conceal their true intentions and unwillingness to stand by principled positions and Biblical truth has characterized the behaviour and statements of the Church of England for a while. The leaders failed to call to order and discipline ‘The Episcopal Church of America’, Canada, etc., when they violated Resolution 1.10 of Lambeth 1998 by consecrating Gay Bishops and recognizing the blessing of same-sex marriage partnerships. They have hitherto sat on the fence as the crisis tore the Communion apart. They have failed to function as ‘Defenders of the Faith’ and ‘Instrument of Unity’ in the global Anglican Communion.

The recent decision by the Church of England did not come as a surprise to discerning minds because it is the logical result of the path they have been consistently and painstakingly taking for the past decade. This decision to redefine marriage different from the teachings of Scripture and the proposal to change the male gender used for God to a neutral or inclusive language is a clear departure from the truth. Human words are not sufficient to express the depth of the unfathomable truth and power of God or His person. All these bring to the fore the folly of the human mind in questioning the authority of God, who created mankind male and female. Church of England, by this decision, can best be described as ‘quarrelling with God’. In Isaiah 45:9, God declared, “Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker…. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’ To decide to bless gay marriage without changing the doctrine of Marriage between a man and a woman is to ‘speak from two sides of the mouth.’ The death knell must be the recent appointment and Abp. Justin Welby’s endorsement of a senior priest, who is in a gay partnership, as Dean of Canterbury Cathedral! The spiritual headquarters of the Anglican Communion has been deliberately compromised by this appointment, and the future of the entire Anglican Communion is in jeopardy.

The souls of the faithful departed members of the Church who built and promoted the Christian faith throughout the world, sponsored missionaries, built churches and cathedrals, enthroned Christian civilization, and encouraged Christian families, education, and civil society would be grieved at the recent actions of the current leadership of the Church of England, especially the Archbishop of Canterbury and the bad decisions of the Church’s secular synods. Sadly, the Church of England and the Archbishop of Canterbury have joined the widening rebellion against God and the Church of Jesus Christ; a move that must be challenged, resisted and reversed by the rest of the faithful Church.

The Church of England is one out of the 42 Provinces in the Communion, spread across 165 countries of the world. It cannot hold the rest of the Communion, especially the majority population located in the Global South, to ransom. The Protestant Movement arose out of the Reformation, which was a response to heresies and ecclesiastical abuses by the recognized Church then; the Roman Catholic Church. History is about repeating itself. The Anglican Church is at the threshold of yet another reformation, which must sweep out the ungodly leadership currently endorsing sin, misleading the lives of faithful Anglicans worldwide and endangering their prospects for eternity.

We are grieved that the deviant, revisionist actions of some Western Anglican Churches, including the Church of England are negatively affecting the image, moral credibility and evangelical activities of faithful Anglican Christians because of the likelihood of many other denominations perceiving or labelling the Anglican Church as a ‘homosexual church’, more so, with the capitulation of our ‘Mother Church.’ Geoffrey Chaucer’s statement in the Canterbury tales comes to mind here: “if gold rusts, what can iron do?” If the Archbishop of Canterbury and his Bishops deny the faith and mislead the church, then what would ordinary congregants do? Hence, the fate of Christianity and the Church have experienced a terrible decline, loss and irrelevance in the secular and post-Christian western world. We must take steps to redefine our relationship with those who persist in wilful disobedience to God’s Word and strive to bring the gospel and Church of our Lord Jesus Christ into disrepute.

We of the GAFCON family encourage other orthodox bodies in the Communion to remain firm and resolute in upholding and defending “the faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 1:3). In the choice between truth and falsehood, light and darkness, secular and biblical cultures, we call on all people of God not to be deceived, but like Joshua, deliberately choose to serve the Lord the way He has revealed Himself in the Bible, our historic formularies and time-honoured tradition. We agree with the statement of Abp. Foley Beach, Primate of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) and Chairman of GAFCON which says: “Most of our provinces have their origins in the Church of England because of the incredible and sacrificial missionary spirit of faithful British followers of Jesus. What are the faithful in England and around the world to do now that the mother Church has departed from Biblical faith and morality? We cannot follow the Church of England down this path which leads to spiritual and moral bankruptcy.”

If the Bishops genuinely love the people in their care, they will think twice about their ongoing redefinition of what constitutes sin. To continue down that path is to deny those caught in those circumstances the opportunity to repent. Christianity speaks of how we should live here in light of eternity, which we want to spend with God. Pursuing this path has made Church of England ‘Blind Guides’ for those who desperately need to repent from their chosen path of disobedience to the clear commands of Scripture. The Bishops are on a slippery slope to spiritual anarchy where everyone will begin to do what is right in their own eyes. Christianity has a rule book which is the Bible, the revealed Word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is not about our opinions, passion, or emotional disposition. Their job as shepherds of the flock of Christ in their care is to tend and feed them with the undiluted Word of God unto life and maturity and not to lead them astray. It is also to uphold Christian doctrine handed down over the centuries. It is time for them to repent and return to our spiritual foundations. If they fail to do so, we urge believers in the Church of England to distance themselves from where the Church of England and their likes are going, stand up for what they truly believe and have the courage to defend the Biblical truth for the sake of their children and the generations coming after them. We must immediately extricate ourselves by disassociating from those Church leaders who have infiltrated the Anglican Communion with ungodly teachings.

The Church of Nigeria remains committed to the faith once delivered to the saints, and re-affirm our decision to redefine what it means to be a member of the Anglican Communion as contained in our 2020 Constitution and Canons, Chapter 1:3: “The Church of Nigeria shall be in full communion with all Anglican Churches, Dioceses and Provinces that hold and maintain the Historic Faith, Doctrine, Sacrament and Discipline of the one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church as the Lord has commanded in His holy word and as the same are received as taught in the Book of Common Prayer and the ordinal of 1662 and in the Thirty-Nine Article of Religion.”

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Saviour, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.

Politics / What Will Lead To Run-off And The Run-off Candidates by Oghene1st: 9:54am On Feb 24, 2023
As regards to the Presidential election scheduled to take place on 25th day of February, 2023, there is a high likelihood that it may not produce an outright winner, and in such situation, there is going to be a run-off to decide who would become the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria after Muhammadu Buhari.

In my analysis, I am going to restrict my arguments and opinions to the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, As Amended (CFRN) because it is the grundnorm and any law with provisions that are inconsistent with it shall be declared null and void.

WHEN A RUN-OFF IS MANDATORY!

Section 134 (2) of the CFRN provides that:

"A candidate for an election to the office of the President shall be deemed to have been duly elected where, there being more than two candidates for the election-

(a) he has the highest number of votes cast at the election; and

(b) he has not less than one-quarter of the votes cast at the election in each of at least two-thirds of all the States in the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja."

The above quoted provision of the CFRN means that for a candidate to be declared a winner of the presidential election, the candidate must have: the highest number of votes cast; and 25 percent of the votes cast in two-thirds of all the States in the country and the FCT. Two-thirds of all the States excluding the FCT is 24 States. However there is an ambiguity in the above provision. Is it that the FCT is regarded as a State thereby increasing two-thirds to 24.6, approximately 25 States; or that the candidate must also record a two-thirds victory in the FCT? This ambiguity can only be thrashed by the Court.

For clarity, I will take two-thirds to be 24 States, meaning that the candidate must record 25 per cent of votes cast in 24 States. If a candidate fails to meet this threshold, the CFRN says there must be another election, which I call "run-off".

WHO ARE THE CANDIDATES TO ENTER THE RUN-OFF?

Section 134 (3), CFRN provides that:

"In default of a candidate duly elected in accordance with subsection (2) of this section there shall be a second election in accordance with subsection (4) of this section at which the only candidates shall be -

(a) the candidate who scored the highest number of votes at any election held in accordance with the said subsection (2) of this section; and

(b) one among the remaining candidates who has a majority of votes in the highest number of States, so however that where there are more than one candidate with a majority of votes in the highest number of States, the candidate among them with the highest total of votes cast at the election shall be the second candidate for the election."

In clear terms, the runoff is going to be between two candidates. The first candidate is who recorded the highest number of votes, that is, simple majority; and the second candidate is the one, when the first candidate is excluded, got the majority votes in highest number of States.

Let me use a scenario to break it down for proper understanding. Assuming the election was conducted in Oth Republic having five States of - Ghan, Enth, Port, Seng and Score, and amongst three candidates whom are Sar, Dar and Bar. And the results were as follows:

Ghan: Sar - 5 votes, Dar - 4 votes and Bar - 3 votes

Enth: Sar -5 votes, Dar - 4 votes and Bar - 3 votes

Port: Sar 5 votes, Dar - 4 votes and Bar - 3 votes

Seng: Bar - 5 votes, Sar - 4 votes and Dar - 1 votes

Score: Bar - 5 votes, Sar - 2 votes and Dar - o vote.

Total votes: Sar - 21 votes, Bar - 19 votes and Dar - 13 votes.

From the above scenario, Sar got simple majority of 21 votes, so he is going to be the first candidate for the runoff. The second would be the person with majority of votes in the highest number of the States had it been Sar was not on the ballot. That person is Dar even though Bar had more total votes. Dar got the majority of votes in three States of - Ghan, Enth and Port; while Bar got the majority of votes in just two States of - Seng and Score.

However, where both Dar and Bar got majority of votes in the highest number of States, the second candidate is going to be the one with the highest number of votes cast, simple majority. This is possible if for example, in Oth Republic, there is a sixth State called 'Via' and from the results, Bar got 1 vote while Dar got 0 vote. In this situation, Dar has majority of votes in three States of - Ghan, Enth and Port; while Bar also has majority of votes in three States of - Seng, Score and Via. But because Bar secured the highest votes, which is 20 votes as against Dar's13 votes, Bar would be declared the second candidate for the run-off.

There are further conditions a candidate must meet before he can be declared winner of the runoff. They are stated in Section 134 (4) of the CFRN and are same with that of Section 134 (2) - highest votes cast and 25 per cent of votes cast in 24 States.

If at the end of the run-off, a candidate fails to get the highest votes cast and 25 per cent of votes cast in 24 States, then a simple majority run-off would be conducted to determine the next President of Nigeria as provided in Section 134 (5) of the CFRN.

THANK YOU!

Politics / PDP Using Decamping Lies To Win Over Voters In The North by Oghene1st: 8:34pm On Jan 17, 2023
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is using decamping lies and propaganda to convince or woo northerners to support and vote for PDP come 2023.

There have been frequent reports of northerners decamping to PDP and this is common mostly in Kano and Katsina. The strategy of using fake high decamping rates from APC to PDP is to deceive northerners that Buhari is not in support of Tinubu's candidacy. This is enough to convince other northerners who intend to vote Tinubu to drop or forget about the idea.

This same strategy is what they are using in Kano where Kwankwaso is the strong force to reckon with. However in Kano, the tactic is against NNPP that controls the highest number of voters.

Atiku knows he can't play such propaganda in South because he would be easily exposed and caught.
Politics / 2023 Election: Has Tinubu Been A Master Strategist? by Oghene1st: 12:20am On Jan 14, 2023
What do you make of this 1993 presidential election results between MKO Abiola's Muslim-Muslim ticket of SDP and that of Tofa of NRC!

The Igbos gave Abiola 48 percent of their votes.

The South South gave Abiola more than 50 percent of their votes. Abiola won South West and South South, and got an almost 50 percent in South East.

Look at the votes Abiola got in Lagos. Abiola recorded an overwhelming victory in Lagos. Can Tinubu pull same stunt?

Can Tinubu fetch 50 percent of votes in South South and 48 percent of votes in South East?

No. Why is because the problem is not the Muslim-Muslim ticket as most people from the South who are against Tinubu's candidacy postulate. The problem is the past political error of Tinubu occassioning the much accepted Obi's.

"You don't join forces with a united house to fight your brother."

The problem is the role Tinubu played in 2015 that ousted Jonathan out of office. Tinubu did that for a Northerner as against his brother in the South.

Presently, can a presidential candidate win an election without winning 2/3 of the geopolitical zones or majority of votes in his region?

Tinubu sacrificed the good support he would have gotten from the South South and South East for Buhari. Now, is Buhari ready to pay back in kind?

2023 election is going to give answers to so many questions and puzzles to wit: the position of the IGBOS in Nigeria; the truth about the political sagacity of Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the importance of religion in politics; the truth about UNITED NORTH; and the future of the SOUTHWEST-NORTH alliance.

The 'master strategist' *MAY* not even be a good strategist after all.

Just some thoughts. I'm overly OBIDIENT.

Our traditional rulers gathered at Olomu kingdom palace, the kingdom where we have the oldest king presently in Urhobo, to welcome Obi but Obi couldn't attend and has promised to visit. My people will welcome him. Obi will win Delta Central and Tinubu will come second. Okowa is not loved here at all. The only senatorial district Atiku will win in Delta is Delta North where Okowa is from and Obi is coming closely second there.

Benue! You dey make me laugh. So Benue man go vote Atiku or Tinubu? For a governor to be bold in speaking against Atiku and not supporting Tinubu but Obi, you think he has not read the hand writing on the wall.

Most of you on this forum still think 2023 election is by PDP and APC. 2023 election is going to be one funny election. People aren't voting along party lines.

Then, no Atiku who is selfish from time to spend on Ihedioha, no money in Sokoto to be spent on Ihedioha. And no PDP governor in South East- Ikpeazu and Ugwuanyi if their stooge win or loose to spend on Ihedioha.

A former governor of Gombe State and a political ally of Rivers State governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, has abandoned the Integrity Group, a pressure group of aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

LEADERSHIP reports that Dankwambo was a prominent member of the Wike Group, which has been at loggerheads with the national leadership of the PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over the continued stay of Dr. Iyorchia Ayu as the national chairman of the party.

Consequently, members of the group announced their withdrawal from the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council except their demand of Ayu’s ouster was met.

However, to the surprise of many, the immediate-past governor of Gombe State joined Atiku and other party stalwarts in Gombe on Monday afternoon for the PDP presidential campaign rally in Gombe State.

Dankwambo was sighted right from the Gombe Airport welcoming party chieftains to the State, to the venue of the rally, where he also took his turn to speak to party members and supporters.

The Master of the Ceremony, Senator Dino Melaye, later announced that Dankwambo donated 20 buses to the Atiku/Okowa Campaign in his native Gombe State.
