Why have substandard institutions scattered everywhere when u can bridge funds to upgrade an existing one in the region to world claws. Or are we saying Oron is not part of the Niger delta anymore? Sweetestrose:
Its not about making things difficult for importers and exporters with regards to foreign exchange, the real question behind this decision is: what measures has been put in place to speed up the production of some of these items for consumers satisfaction? Tomato is one surplus product in Gboko- Benue State, but because of the lackadaisical behavior of some persons that has vowed never to repair the road, it hinders transportation even to the neighbouring states. Rice has once been banned but when the production rate of the country was not in equillibrum with the consumption rate, the ban had to be lifted. They can ban all the products for all I care but the fact still remains that necessary measures should be put in place for adequate or even surplus production.
Necessity is the father of invention. If these foreign items are removed from the shelves, smart Nigerians will catch in on it.

To all of you talking about rule of law and subversion of justice, hear this;
It is much cheaper and stress free if it does not get to litigation in court. The UK prosecutors had to ask Ibori for a bargain to cut cost of prosecution and time wasting. Even if the cash ddnt belong to the govt in the first place, what work did he do for the giver of the cash to warrant that kind of reward. FFK is asking for a trial because he knows our justice system is crap. Our leaders are lucky that alot of Nigerians are just plain gullible.

The thing about following the rule (of law) is that if you don't tomorrow, will circumvent procedure and say "After all, you also circumvent the procedure".

The federal govt is actually shooting themselves in the foot by doing what they are doing - expressing their deep conviction that if they follow due process, they will not make headway in their fight.

Nobody should support them in this because it may be FFK today, a nobody to you, but it could be you or your beloved one tomorrow.

The government cannot be seen to be breaking the law because by doing so, they are enabling others to do the same and will lose the moral high ground to call others to order when others attempt to break those same laws.

The federal govt got court nod to keep him. That settles that.

Clearly, a man guilty of stealing when picked up should be taken to court and tried.
The president of the NBA has cited the example of in the US in which the the governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich was sentenced to 14 years in prison on June 27, 2011.

He was not denied bail but he was sent to court. The authorities new there was no need to deny him bail. But when the verdict was read (and sentenced pronounced) he went straight to jail. There was no need for drama in the process besides the due process.

You do not arrest people and start investigating them (looking for evidence against them) when they are in detention. You arrest them, take their statements, set a date for the courts and let them go on bail. This is because you arrest people after you have confirmed your suspicion with bankable evidence against them.

These people in EFCC know this very well because they are law enforcers. That is their job. If they did not know, the constant repetition of this within the polity by lawyers and senior advocates etc, some of whom are even pro APC should have educated them by now.

What we observed however is their illegally laying seige on the man's house. And when he took to twitter to raise alarm about it and journalists started coming around, the law enforcement officers withdrew on orders from their superiors. If they were not doing what they felt was wrong, why would they ask their men to withdraw when journalists started showing up.

Now FFK has been in detention for about 33 days. What is the federal government saying about this?

How can the govt convince us that it is not because of his detailed and convincing writings about the implications of its failings here and there that he is being kind of kidnapped?

If they were an anti-corruption bunch the least they should have done was, if FFK's point's were so biting, make the appropriate adjustments in the right directions. The truer the points he made seemed to be, the greater the need to attempt required adjustments.
Just shut up and look for something to do. Rubbish.

PoliticsRe: Radio Biafra And Nnamdi Kanu: A Threat to Nigeria's Stability. by ogmask: 5:24pm On Jun 12, 2016
Okijajuju1:
I was on a drive back from Aba yesterday with my Mum when the conversation we were having led to the mention of this Radio Biafra which is currently airing on FM 102.1 in most South South and South Eastern states. Last time I heard of this Radio Biafra, it was an Internet radio station that didn't have that much of a following to warrant any real concerns, however I was shocked to find out that they were now a terrestrial radio station with a Frequency Modular bandwidth. Anyways, I tuned in out of curiosity to find out what they were all about and that was when the hair on the back of my neck stood. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

For the entire period I was tuned into the station, it was back to back tirades against the current Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, raw undiluted anti-Semitic messages targeted mostly at the Yorubas, calls for the destruction of all Deeperlife Church posters, billboards and the burning and destruction of all Deeperlife churches in Aba and all Igbo Land, the stopping of any Deeperlife crusade from holding in Aba, calls for the Igbos to arm themselves pending when he (Nnamdi Kanu who was being referred to as director) would give the clarion call for the war to commence, calls for Igbos and the supporters of the Biafran cause to join their local chapter and contribute money to him (Nnamdi) to purchase arms to prosecute a war against the Government of Nigeria. The Nnamdi character freely spewed hate for Yorubas and Hausas, referred to Nigeria as a Zoo that they would destroy, e.t.c

At first, I just felt that this was a case of a Lunatic who seems to have found his way into a radio station, but my fears didn't rise until I heard the calls coming into the station from his growing followers. One of such callers actually said Hello Director, If Kumuyi steps into Aba, I WILL KILL HIM". Another caller said he was a technician of sorts and was willing to offer his services to help build a bomb to destroy Nigeria and the Nnamdi character took his number and promised to get in touch with him. The calls kept coming in and it was just caller after caller pledging support for the cause of this deranged man. It didn't matter that the Nnamdi Character sounded rude, arrogant and full of himself and obviously had a thirst for power, it didn't matter that he was insulting and disrespecting most of the callers who dialed in, more people kept calling.

Now my reason for starting this thread is to use this medium to bring the attention of the Government to the birth of a New Terrorist group in the South East.. I couldn't help but remember that this was exactly how the Boko Haram menace started, First it was just an Islamic preacher who was also doing Charity works and feeding his followers, then it grew into a militia that has cause the death of over 15,000 Nigerians and counting. Please those with the right connect should inform our security agencies. Whilst listening, most of the callers were reading out their phone numbers over the air and I was wondering if someone is noting down these numbers and placing taps on them and placing the owners on the terrorist watch list.

I would be honest and say that this Biafra Radio broadcast really troubled me. One of our workers who is a listener and was a follower only changed his views after I managed to explain to him the implications of what this Nnamdi Character was soliciting. The Nnamdi fellow is not hard to catch, below is a picture of him I pulled off of the Internet. And it seems he freely enters and leaves Nigeria as he pleases.

https://biafranchronicle.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Nnamdi-anu.jpg

I really hope someone in a position of authority hears this message and acts on it fast before things get to the point where we now have to start doing damage control at which point many innocent lives would have been lost. Let's use the Lessons learnt from the Boko Haram case and the arrest and murder of Mohammed Yussuf to find a way of finding, arresting and shutting down this Terrorist Group. Today we may think it's just a radio broadcast, but if half the callers I heard were not just blowing hot. Air, then we must take this threat to National peace seriously.

A stitch in time Saves nine.

Yes he should.

Some officers that were retired in 2006 unjustly, went to court and some of them got reinstated in 2009 with full benefits. Others, however, remained dismissed. The military powers does not supercede that of the court, They are still subject to the laws of the land.
Most times, dismissed military men don't seek redress because they know they won't get reprieve due to the nature of their case.

Error.. I must admit, I am deeply pained by this development in Rivers State.

This is the first MAJOR road that Wike has built that isn't a continuation from Amaechi's tenure and we all can see the difference.

Woji People shot themselves in the foot in the name of Fighting Amaechi..

Woji area of Port Harcourt easily houses atleast 40% of Trans-Amadi and Eleme Workers.. The traffic in this area of Rivers State is epic. The Population inside this area of Port harcourt is soo large and this area links a lot of key areas in Port Harcourt like Trans Amadi, Aba-Road, Elelenwo (Eleme).

Amaechi marked houses for demolition to expand that road from the single carriage it is now to a dual carriage road with a shoulder like what the people of Iwofe are enjoying today.. Wike and the Chiefs in their area in the name of politics fought against it and dragged him to court.. Oya na, see wetin dem do for them.

Shey now they have tarred that road without expanding it.. angry By the time cars park left and right of this narrow road, where will people pass?

Wike no near Amaechi in terms of Vision for Rivers State.. Woji road proves it.. Go and compare this fhuckery with the Trans-Woji road Amaechi built and see the difference in class..

Every other road Amaechi touched, he left a lasting mark.. Wike is like Odili all over again; Tarr, with Open gutters, no provision for pedestrian walk ways, no provision for street lights, Throw a big party and Commission it, Take pictures and move on to the next one.. 3 years later, the road is fhucked up all over again.
Tnx for this post.
I live here in Woji. How can wike throw a party to commission this road? God!!!!!!! I miss Amaechi honestly.

Addis Ababa Light Rail
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Addis Ababa Light Rail (Amharic: የአዲስ አበባ ቀላል ባቡር) is a light rail transportation system in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.[3][4] A 17-kilometre (11 mi) line running from the city centre to industrial areas in the south of the city opened on 20 September 2015.[5][6] Service began on 9 November 2015 for the second line (west-east).[7][8] The total length of both lines is 31.6 kilometres (19.6 mi), with 39 stations.[7] Trains are expected to be able to reach maximum speeds of 70 km/h (43 mph).[9]

The railway was contracted by the China Railway Group Limited. The Ethiopian Railways Corporation began construction of the double track electrified light rail transit project in December 2011 after securing funds from the Export-Import Bank of China.[10] Trial operations were begun on 1 February 2015,[9] with several months of testing following that.[11] It is operated by the Shenzhen Metro Group.[12]

Light Rail running through parallel to the street (Haile Gebreselassie Avenue)
This light-rail system was the first to be built in sub-saharan Africa.[3][5][6] Of the two line rail lines, the east-west line extends 17.4 kilometres (10.8 mi), stretching from Ayat Village to Torhailoch, and passing through Megenagna, Meskel Square, Legehar and Mexico Square. The north-south line, which is 16.9 kilometres (10.5 mi) in length, passes through Menelik II Square, Merkato, Lideta, Legehar, Meskel Square, Gotera and Kaliti. However, two lines have a common track of about 2.7 km.[10]The common track is the elevated section which runs east to west across the southern edge of the CBD from Meskel Square to Mexico Square, and onwards to Lideta. Trains on the north south line are blue and white, whilst on the east west line they are green and white. The Fares cost 2-6 Ethiopian birr.[5][6] Tickets are bought at orange coloured kiosks next to each station.

The final cost to build the railway was US$475m, with construction taking three years.[6] The Addis Ababa Light Rail was originally to have a total of 41 stations on its two lines, and each train was planned have a capacity to carry 286 passengers. This will enable the light rail transit to provide a transportation service to 15,000 passengers per hour per direction (PPHPD) and 60,000 in all four directions.[10] The railway lines have their own dedicated power grid.[6][13]

Ok seen the Ethiopian version. What about the lagos version for side by side comparison.
Pls do the needful bro.

ba7man:
The Lagos light rail is elevated for most parts since it runs on swampy land and it's also a 2 way rail.

You'll have to calculate the cost of the pilings, the concrete footings and it's larger size to accommodate the 2 trains at the same time.

It also crosses a water body and it's complete with a super highway that runs alongside it with pedestrian bridges linking the train stations which are also elevated.

The Ethiopian Lightrail runs on land and is a normal railway line with stops alongside it.

Their specifications and topography are miles apart, hence the cost difference.

Since it's Nigeria, some inflation will be included but it's not as much as some people are trying to project.................. and which one is their own Governor doing in their own state in the first place?
Wike called the rivers monorail "Amaechi monorail". He promised not to put a finger on that project and pple are cheering him. For lots of these folks here, they prefer to do out of this world comparison pretending to be smart. Their states are littered with guiness book of world record ROUNDABOUTS. At best you see a few blank streetlights hanging hopelessly on the road.
