I’ve interacted extensively with Buhari and I think he is conscious of the fact that we are in a civilian dispensation and that we are bound by the rule of law and the Constitution. He has repeated this so often. He has demonstrated this by going to court every time he lost election, pursuing the rule of law and legal processes. He could have completely ignored it. He could have said, ‘I don’t even believe in the rule of law. I don’t believe in the system.’ But he has consistently done the right thing and whenever he speaks, you’ll notice that he always goes back to the Constitution. I believe whatever we may say about the military dispensation, we should realise that the era was not famous for the observance of the rule of law. But I think that after all of these years, Buhari has had plenty of time to reflect and all his utterances in the many years after military rule show that he definitely subscribes fully to the tenets of the rule of law and fundamental human rights and also understands that democratic rule is different from military rule. Thus, I have no problems at all working if he turns out to be the next president. Which I believe he will be.

You guys should not worry Buhari will take care of that when he assumes office come 2015

During lunch at work last week, I ate 3 plates of beans (which I know I shouldn't). When I got home, my husband seemed excited to see me and exclaimed delightedly;

"Darling I have a surprise for dinner tonight."

He then blind folded me and led me to my chair at the dinner table. I took a seat and just as he was about to remove my blind fold, the telephone rang. He made me promise not to touch the blind fold until he returned and went to answer the call.

The beans I had consumed were still affecting me and the pressure was becoming unbearable, so while my husband was out of the room I seized the opportunity, shifted my weight to one leg and let one go. It was not only loud, but it smelled like a fertilizer truck running over a skunk in front of a garbage dump! I took my napkin from my lap and fanned the air around me vigorously. Then, shifting to the other leg, I ripped off three more. The stink was worse than cooked cabbage.

Keeping my ears carefully tuned to the conversation in the other room, I went on releasing atomic bombs like this for another few minutes. The pleasure was indescribable!

Eventually the telephone farewells signaled the end of my freedom, so I quickly fanned the air a few more times with my napkin, placed it on my lap and folded my hands back on it feeling very relieved and pleased with myself.

My face must have been the picture of innocence when my husband returned, apologising for taking so long. He asked me if I had peeked through the blind fold, and I assured him I had not.

At this point, he removed the blind fold. To my utmost surprise, twelve dinner guests were seated around the table, with their hands on their nose!

While counting of votes continues at the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential primary, one of the aspirants, and former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated co-aspirant, and former head of state, Muhammadu Buhari.

Already, Mr. Buhari has scored 3,430 making it impossible for another candidate to surpass him. Mr. Abubakar acknowledged that Mr. Buhari has emerged the APC candidate. The statement reads:

“I am very confident that you will provide the needed leadership to turn this country around. I have no doubt that you will work with dedicated and qualified Nigerians to protect our citizens, improve our economy, create jobs, improve education, reform governance and fight corruption. The Madam Tinubu hall of University of Lagos (UNILAG), Yaba, Lagos state, reportedly has been caught on fire today, October 12.

According to the Nation, the fire has started around 4a.m. Sunday morning.

It was gathered that a student used a hot plate to cook and put it under her bed without totally putting out the heat.

The fire started from the room and spread to other rooms, luckily, no life was lost before the fire was put off.

However, a few students were injured when they tried to jump from their windows to escape the fire.

Reportedly, UNILAG students had to use pure water to put out hostel fire

International Monetary Fund says that China overtakes the United States as the world’s largest economy. The latest figures show the Chinese economy is worth £ 11 trillion compared with £ 10.8 trillion for the US. It means that America falls into the second place for the first time since 1872.



China – whose wealth has accelerated in recent decades amid rapid industrialization – is expected to extend its lead, with the IMF estimating its economy will be worth £ 16.7trillion in 2019,  the Daily mail marks. That would be 20 per cent bigger than the US economy, which is forecast to be worth £ 13.8trillion by then.

The numbers are based on ‘purchasing power parity’ (PPP) which makes adjustments for the fact that goods are cheaper in countries such as China relative to the US.
Without these adjustments for living costs, the Chinese economy is still smaller than that of the US, at £ 6.4trillion.

According to the International Comparison Program (ICP), under the authority of the United Nations and hosted by the World Bank, new assessments put China’s economy at 87% of the size of the US in 2011, BBC informs.

And in 2005, the same organisation put China at only 43%. But, the latest figures from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2012 put China’s economic output at about half the size of the US. China’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2012 was $ 8.2tn (£ 4.9tn) while the US was $ 16.2tn.

China enjoyed three decades of double-digit growth before the global downturn, as industrialization and sweeping economic reforms created a new powerhouse in the East.

Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has begged the former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, for forgiveness.



The PDP asked Obasanjo to forgive the past and lead the party to success in the next year’s elections, Sahara Reporters provides.



The statement was made by PDP National Chairman Adamu Mu’azu, who spoke on behalf of the party in Abuja on October 8 while receiving the Labour Party defectors.



“All of us must beg Obasanjo to forgive us. We need to beg him. He is very prayerful and we need to ask him to forgive us so that we can be forgiven. We are your children. We have made mistakes and baba, please forgive us. Come and lead us. We are your followers and we assure you that we are all good boys and girls. We have sinned. Baba please forgive us.”
