PropertiesRe: Construction Of 3 Bedroom Bungalow In Badagry - My Expenses And The Progress by ojasweb(op): 8:25pm On Sep 09, 2021
I already have a clear picture of what i wanted to build even though i don't know what professional builders call it. I did the sketching and invited a friend who specialize in building to perfect it and do the drawings and plan.

Here's what i sketched.

2 sitting room (main sitting room and private)
3 bedroom each with its bathroom
1 kitchen
1 laundry
1 dining room
1 shoe closet
1 store
1 visitor's toilet.

We did the calculations together and went to measure the land to make sure that there's enough space at both sides.

Eventually, the drawing fits in, and we perfect it.

I could not start construction as at that time due to the heavy rain. So i waited until November, 2020 before the commencement of the project.

By the way, immediately after purchasing the plot, i went to pay for 100 bags of Dangote cement. At the time, a bag was around 2,600 Naira.

So by November, I purchased 8 trips of sand for block production.

Due to the nature of the region, i was advised to mold 30 blocks per bag (Cotonou style blocks).

We finish molding the blocks in about 2 weeks and waited for 2 weeks to dry.

I started the journey on September, 2020.

And the first thing i did was to look for a plot of land in a dispute-free area.

This is very important because there are many government owned land in Badagry and its environment. Apart from Government owning some land, there are places that people don't really like due to one issue or the other.

So after inspecting 3 different plots, i finally pick a choice. By the way, it was discovered that one of the 3 different plots inspected was in government owned area. Thanks to the proper investigation.

I got the plot of land for 1.8 million Naira. 60ft by 120ft

Greetings to the Bosses on Nairaland. And thanks to everyone who have contributed meaningfully to the property section of this wonderful forum.

Though i don't usually ask questions related to building constructions, however i have always come here to read some threads when i needed some guides. For example, i spent almost a week reading about steal coated roofing sheets on this forum.

On this thread i will share my construction of 3 bedroom bungalow in Badagry - the expenses and the progress.

I am doing this for two main reasons:
1. To document my progress and easily refer back to the thread in the future.
2. To provide some information to people who might find it helpful.

PS: I am not a professional building engineer and this thread is not meant to ridicule this wonderful profession in anyway.

when you mean standard na the standard for ikoyi you de talk abi for maitama you mean

Oga with 4million better block and everything go reach
When you talk about standard, are you talking about a house without water, tiling, painting, etc? If yes, then i believe that's a new meaning to standard.

Nairalanders can be very funny. A very simple question that would have created nice conversation and helped a lot of people has now been made useless. The simple question op asked was; can 4m build a house? and what type of house can it build?
4m can definitely build a house, but what will determine is the quality of the finishing is the size of the house. But it can definitely build a one bedroom house with very good finishing.
It appears the OP modified the post. Seems the original post was asking if 4M will be enough for a 3 bedroom flat.

Egbon no need for insult. Contribute your experience and let everyone learn from it. When i was about to purchase steel coated roofing sheets, i come online to do research, and that really helped me. Otherwise, i could have spend way more than the actual cost. Coming online to ask is not a bad decision. It is left for the OP to take the good advice and ignore the terrible ones.

Stop blabbing and ask me how

The problem is STANDARD.

4m cannot build a standard 3 bedroom irrespective of the location, unless there's another meaning to standard.

The picture does not show the full structure of the house. There's still one big bedroom after that motorcycle. So, am not sure we could adjust the roofing style more.

I actually monitor the project, at least 80%

As at the time i got to the stage in the attached picture, i have already spent over 7m, excluding the land cost.
Though this is a bigger project, however am not sure 4M can get you something attractive. Especially with the situation of the economy.

Why People Think Google Ads Is Not Converting In Nigeria

They don’t have good knowledge of Google ads.
We have to accept the reality that many people don’t have good knowledge of Google ads. While Google ads might look simple to experienced marketers like myself, the truth remains that it is not as simple as Facebook ads.

On Facebook, you can easily click on “boost” on your page’s post and follow a few steps to get your ad up and running. Sadly, it is not that simple on Google ads.

On Facebook, almost all the ads follow the same format/steps. However, on Google, the process for creating a display ad is different from that of search ads, YouTube ads, shopping ads or even apps install. Each of the ad type on Google ads has some complex settings that you need to learn and master in order for you to get good results.

So, for most people that say Google ads is not converting in Nigeria, the truth is that they don’t have good knowledge of Google ads.

Google ads platform is a very advanced marketing tool that you need to learn and understand how it works. Without first learning and understanding the platform, chances that you’ll complain about your result are very high.

If you want to get a good result from Google ads, make sure that you know how the platform works and choose the best ads that match your goal.

Two major reasons why you should not use MAXIMIZE CONVERSIONS or TCPA on your new Google ads account.

After launching your campaigns on Google ads, your ads should start getting impressions and clicks as soon as possible.
Once you've started seeing increasing number of impressions and clicks, Google's AI will start giving different recommendations in the account.

One of the most annoying recommendations is the bidding strategy. Google will continuously recommend for you to use maximize conversion bid or target CPA.

Now let me highlight the two major reasons why this recommendation is very bad for a new Google ads account.

1. A new Google ads account with insufficient or no conversion history will most likely put you in debt if you switch to CPA or maximize conversion bid.
With this type of bid, Google ads AI will use the conversion history in the account to optimize your campaign for enhanced performance. However, in a new account with very low or no conversion history, the AI will only serve your ads based on their defined assumptions, and this will most likely lead to fast budget depletion and terrible performance because the AI's optimization will be done without using any or enough conversion data in your account.

2. If you're tracking conversions in your account, in most cases, you might be tracking contact/lead form submission, especially if you're targeting Nigeria where ecom is mostly payment on delivery. If you're tracking lead form submission, you might assign certain value for each lead you get. Unfortunately, not every lead that you get will result in actual sales. For this reason, the value you assign to each lead will not be accurate, nevertheless, Google will still use the value to make suggestion for you on TCPA.

If you decide to switch to the suggestion, you might end up getting your leads at a very high CPA, which will eventually affect your profit margin.

So, you need to take note of these two things before switching your bid strategy just because it is recommended by Google.

Cheers!

Another question i received frequently about Google ads is account suspension due to Circumventing Policies.

Why and what can you do to stop it from happening subsequently?

My response goes thus...

Circumventing policies usually occurs when you know that certain practices is not allowed on Google add but you're finding some ways to game the system.

It is very easy to know what you have done wrong in this situation. For example, if you're cloaking your link, it is against the policy and your account could be suspended for circumventing policy.

Another reason is creating multiple accounts to advertise the same business. This usually falls under competitive advantage policy and it can lead to suspension.

Another reason is when Google detects that you're creating another account after previously suspended for violating the policy.

There are many reasons your account could be suspended due to Circumventing Policies and these are some of them.

To avoid this from happening, make sure you practice within the acceptable rules.
If you've been suspended before, try and make sure that any new account you create doesn't have any relationship with the previously suspended account.

Feel free to ask questions

Can I use Google ads to market a house for sale?
Definitely! This will work much better with YouTube. Remember YouTube ads is also done through Google ads. While this might look easy, you have to be careful so as not to burn your advertising budget anyhow.

Here's another popular Google ads question.

Q. Search ad is too expensive and the traffic is usually very low. I tried using the display network to advertise health products but the ads could not be approved and my account got suspended. Is there a way i can run health ads in the display network?

A. According to Google's policy, health products are not allowed in the display network. However, if you want to advertise health products in the display network, make sure that you upload your banner ads and not using the responsive display ads.
Also, be careful with the information you have on the banner and your landing page.

I will start by answering some of the questions i have been asked several time.

Q: Is it possible to advertise my health/adult products with Google ads?

A: Yes, it is. Though Google has various restrictions as regards health/adult products ads, however, if you can minimize the use of "crude" words and sensitive/erotic images, you should be able to get your ads approved and run without any problem.

GeneralShepherd:
What is bad in washing a plate?

A broke man is a dangerous man, he felt insulted because he is jobless and broke.

A man who is assured in himself will not be offended helping to wash plates in a business that is literally feeding his family.
Nothing wrong in helping her. However, from the write up, it appears that the woman has been using his current situation as a means to insult the man. Remember the man opens the business for her, so i doubt if he would want the business to colapse.

In the write up, instead of the woman to admit that the man is the one picking the kids in school, she said "MAYBE" which shows that she doesn't recognize his input.

Secondly, emphasizing on losing his business to scam is another clue to what the man might be going through in the hand of the woman.

We are not there though.
FamilyRe: My Husband Slapped Me For Asking Him To Wash Plates by ojasweb(m): 2:53pm On May 21, 2021
I could blame the man for slapping you in public, however, you should also take the blame for directly insulting the man in public.

He didn't lost his business that day.

If both of you have good communication at home, you could have spoken with him and encourage him to join you in the business so that both of you can move it forward while he use the opportunity to look for a new work to do.

No reasonable man will flare at his wife for being considerate and polite.

He lost his business, you mentioned it like 2 to 4 times in the post, which probably points to how you have been insulting him at home.

Some issues are not settled by third party or prayers.

You only need common sense and lower your ego.

Do you think your husband would have tell you to wash his car just because he's busy fixing the electronics at home?
RomanceRe: Upcoming Wedding Palava by ojasweb(m): 7:31pm On May 18, 2021
OP, telling her that your Mom suggested this is a good thing, i must say.
I have to disagree with people that are saying you made a mistake for telling her your Mom did. that's kinda selfish.

1. She has a right to tell you her mom's suggestion, and you as a person has a right to think over it. You won't want to see her parents less less, and she too should never in any way see your parents less less.

2. Women take most of their advice from their mom. Some, when they know you can't insult their mom, they make it known to you that their mom advice this or that.

3. Not wanting to hear your Mom's opinion is a terrible trait that should not be tolerated.

When my wife's parents were inviting her to family meeting often, they would not see anything wrong in what they are doing, but immediately they heard that i wanted to tell my parents, they started saying "can't he control his house?", "why must he tell his parents?", etc.

However, if i decided not to tell my parents and refuse to allow her attend those incessant meeting, they start to call me bad names.

The moment i tell my mother what is happening and my mother said NEVER, they automatically calm and stop the frequent invite.

Bride family always want to control their daughter's husband.

If you don't carry your family along, you might end up in a serious mess.

There's need for check and balance in this marriage of a thing, and the best person to do those check and balances are the parents. Not friends or religious leaders.

Your mistake is, you shouldn't have told her your mum suggested it, you would have said that it was your idea, you should have brought up the topic in a way that will make her see reasons why it is logical to cut cost, instead of calling her on phone saying bla bla your mum bla bla, and i can imagine you saying it in a bossy way sef, it is her wedding as she said, as it is yours too, make her feel like she's in charge but you're the one controlling things on the side, very simple

Most times it is you men that majorly cause unnecessary animosity between your mother and wives, you guys don't know how to present a case smoothly without bringing up issues.
Is it right for the bride to be to tell the guy that her mom suggested they do this and that?
