@babasin,

exactly what news are you talking about? is it the one in question or something you've found elsewhere?

OBJ is life chairman of PDP
pls don't insinuate things my man. show proof.
Politics / Re: Delta State Govt Building Burnt (document Destroyed) by ojimboIV: 5:45pm On Nov 16, 2007
perhaps i'm miscalculating here. which is easier?

1. serve the people, get your deserved pay, go home and live happily, or

2. steal, struggle with the legal system, resort to arson to cover tracks, get caught, and lose everything in the end.

these people did not pledge to nigeria when they were sworn into office. i don't give a monkey's arse if they are selectively targeted or not.

@bankole01

save the feable comment at the end of the article, there is nowhere obj appears in the article. i wonder why you are insinuating nyarko to be one of obj's many oppressors because he happens to be his friend. obj's past tense now my man. move on.

do u believe that it is this same group (victims) that have victimized the entire africa through their aid to our politicians in shifting public funds abroad?

chidichris,

i don't believe that to be true. there is a well defined boundary between an accomplice to a money laundry scam and a potential investor. the issue of aiding the politicians is a different case, because you and i know that both parties are well informed about the exercise. on the other hand, proposing to someone to be a partner in what is more a less a sham deal, which could appear real to them, doesn't by any means make them criminals. you'll have to agree with me that everyone's in business to make good profits at the end of the day. so what makes these people any different? fault them for their stupidity for not cutting their losses and closing shop at an early stage because they failed to use No.7 upstairs rather than classify them as criminals.

and i don't know why you call it self defence, for starters the mugu doesn't go about proposing to be scammed.

They can be traced thats quite sure but what happend when the nigerian officials will not want to enter trouble themselves. Let take it that you are one of the CBN officers(but u are not) that transfered the fund and the man refused to do as agreed will you fly to england or US to trace the account? knowing fully well that you have 1% chance to escape jail. What will you tell them was the source of the fund you transfered. Before now it is very easy to open a bank account as such the partner can obtain a bank account with fake identity(do u think fake is peculier to Nigeria only) and documents and forward to as far as he know he will sit on the fund when transfered.

if the initiator, knowing the deal is legit, can't be bothered to chase the proceeds, then there goes his money. simple as that.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Power Problem - Why Energy Conservation Is A Must by ojimboIV: 8:06pm On Nov 15, 2007
i smell V for Vendetta here.

anyway, the savings estimate from what i understand is just for light bulbs, the possibilities seem to be endless in this regard. perhaps them skivers in the house of reps rather than chase each other about settling scores should consider these issues and possibly pass them into law.
Politics / Re: Will You Vote Or Not For Ibb? by ojimboIV: 8:00pm On Nov 15, 2007
do we need a dynamite to drive the point into ibb's head that people ain't insinuating jack about his ambitions? his policies are archaic and not Y2K compatible. move on man.

grin like minds synergise no doubt grin, the proposals only state that they were going to have a fraction of the lot. so now my man you knowing how the western banking system operates more than i do by virtue of your location, tell me if they cannot be traced. if for instance the deal was real and they get the money and decide not to deliver as agreed; then they will be commiting a crime, and can be dealt with if the case goes to court.
Politics / Re: Can Efcc Probe Obasanjo? by ojimboIV: 7:12pm On Nov 15, 2007
i don't see anything stopping the efcc from probing obj, fyi we are in the rule of law era. besides they've committed to the CACL petition, so let's follow that up and see what comes out of it. if he's found wanting i don't see anything stopping him from doing some time in the bighouse, afterall he's been there before, done it and wouldn't mind paying his old pals a visit. maybe then all hell will let loose on the accomplices and associates - the ibbs and the atikus of this world will start running for there lives.

My brother i don't think you have seen the business proposal sent by this scam artist before otherwise you will not categorise who ever respond to such business proposal as a genuine businessman. How can you recieve where you did not work and call yourself a true biz man. You have not been to Nigeria before, have no contract with NNPC yet you want to stand as a contractor to receive your contract sum. Thats fraud and not business. If its business then the fraud starts are business men as well.

thanks for the google effort.

i have come across a lot of these sham e-mails and baited a couple of them. for the victims that front as contractors or whatever, YES that is illegal, but you'll have to agree with me that you'll never see them on the news admitting that they are victims, because they know the consequences. for the majority of the victims who fall for the capital oriented scams, i don't see that as a crime.

We are afriad of the whitemen thats why we don't want to arrest them in Nigeria for their conspiracy to defraud the FGN. They are accessory to fraud and as such must be arrested and prosecuted in Nigeria otherwise they will still be following for the scam. It takes two to tangle so the two must face the law if we must make a headway in this fight against online scam.

in business my man, you'll have to agree with me that you need capital. this is what the mugu sees the investment as. you should bear it in mind that the scammer doesn't spell it out to the mugu that the business entails defrauding nigeria because if he does that's as far as the business goes. so you can't categorically say that the mugu is commiting a crime by investing in a farce deal.

and who told you so
Why will you like to reap where you did not sow ?
If they are not criminals why would they pay money to clear goods you have no buiness with ?

i think you might want to reconsider the definition of business my man.

it takes trust to do business. if you follow the stories of the victims of e-mail scams you wouldn't need a degree in sociology to know that they trusted their perceived 'business partners'. u can fault them for not reading between the lines but to say they are criminals, for crying out loud that's a far cry from it.

and please they ain't seen as no heroes, i'm sure they'll be kicking themselves in the face everytime they think of it.

This false. It is perfetcly legall and tenable in any law court all over the world.

In USA: police women are sometimes plant as decoy-prostitute to arrest men solicting for sex on the street.

Police can also set-you up. This is allowed but the 'attorney-general' needs to be aware whats going.

This is pro-active policing. It is missing in Nigeria because we like reactive Policing.

my man, you can't bring in analogy in prostitution and e-mail scamming, both are mutually disjointed events. and fyi kerb crawlers are protected by law (provided they operate within their domains) and not the proposers.

i'll have to agree with you on the issue of pro-active policing but if this is what it entails i'm afraid it ain't going nowhere. you might want to consider the consequences of the possibility of suing for damages caused as a result of the hoax.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Power Problem - Why Energy Conservation Is A Must by ojimboIV: 5:05pm On Nov 15, 2007
@poster

i can't agree with you any less my man. but i think your calculations need to include the fact that the energy saving bulbs cost about 4times more than the 'non-energy' saving bulbs on the average. that way a more realistic savings figure will be obtained.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Online Scams - Efcc Still Missing The Point by ojimboIV: 4:47pm On Nov 15, 2007
@babasin

luring potential investors into falling mugu in e-mail scams the last time i checked doesn't make them criminals.

@big b1

it is good to see that you now realise the purpose of the efcc (i.e. if i'm not misunderstanding you), because before efcc there was no obstruction at all.

forward thinking nigerians who have been following obj's public speeches would have come to the realisation that the dude is not a good public speaker. on countless occassions he's been caught out by reporters' questions, and he more or less gets carried away in his speeches often injecting doses of pidgin and yoruba thinking it's humorous. maybe this was one of his fluke days, too much amala and fanta perhaps hyped him up and for lack of anything interesting to say he chipped in the bombshell.
Politics / Re: IBB To Run For President In 2011: Your Opinion by ojimboIV: 10:23am On Nov 15, 2007
i believe age discrimination is illegal in nigeria as in most parts of the world. so ibb can contest whatever he wants. but nigerians will have to be on valium on the day of election for this dude to emerge president, because there will be only one voter on the day. i believe we all know who that'll be.
Politics / Re: Will You Vote Or Not For Ibb? by ojimboIV: 10:14am On Nov 15, 2007
not now and not in the next 3 or 7yrs will nigerians vote for the wimp. the brouhaha of june 12 still dangles like a 12tonne brick leashed to his neck. now the common nigerian will ask, if eventually he rigs his way into the presidency, will he have the guts to handover to a civilian? or will he be another mugabe, power-addict and greedy pig holding onto power like it's his death wish. for him to even think he has got the slightest chance of being voted to be president will be the joke of the decade.

Thank you oh! Frankly, personally I do not give a rat's arse about Ibori or any other governor in Nigeria but if the people who keep sponsoring "looters" to aspire to office cannot be brought to book---then let it all just rest. Ibori and others are Abacha, IBB and OBJ boys. After using them to commit mayhem in Nigeria, now they want to kill them all while they keep sponsoring more looters and they sit pretty in their mansions with their families? Who is a fool? Infact Uduaghan should burn down the whole of Delta State if he needs to conceal evidence.

it is one thing proposing to someone to commit a crime and it is another for the proposed party to oblige to becoming an accomplice to the crime. this is classic case of the tool and the chuck, the tool gets worn-out way before the chuck does. so lets face it, the looters being sponsored for being so stupid to serve their pimps at the detriment of their immediate society are 100% accountable. in the order of priority the last time i checked the masses come first and not the other way round. it's not by force, serve nigeria or get caught or better yet don't take up a public office at all.

I feel you, let he who has no sin cast the first stone. We Niger Deltans should rise up to the occasion by being more political conscious, NO MORE BACK STABBING. Justice that is selective is demonic and there is no place for demons in Niger Delta.

political consciousness and backstabbing are two mutually exclusive ideologies, yes niger deltans have woken up and are more political conscious but i wonder in the present circumstance who the backstabber is.

when you say no place for demons in ND i would want to believe that you mean there is no place for the embattled looters, because in my eyes they are the ones that have ruined and are continuing to ruin the economy of the states and celebrating themselves with the ill-gotten wealth abroad. now that they are being chased about the issue of selectivity comes in.
and in a bid to cover tracks have resorted to arson, come on my man you don't need no binoculars to see that this sin is massive. and fyi you can't compare the heat a candle produces to that produced by the sun. so in this regard i wouldn't hesitate to shoot the first cannon.

mysterious fire again?!! again?!! what is all this? nepa employed this approach on countless occassions but couldn't avoid the invetibale dead end. why do the conspirators in this saga believe they'll get away with it. this unfortunately for them has come at a time when they can do very little about what incriminating documents are out there.
Politics / Re: Who Is Fooling Who? by ojimboIV: 3:09pm On Nov 08, 2007
efcc=icpc=ccb

big b1 in your posts you have failed to point out the lapses of other government funded anti-corruption agencies. why should they not put them in the same light as the efcc? let's be naive for once and assume the efcc was obj's cat paws right, what stops the others from being called the same. if they have a duty to serve nigeria, why shouldn't they be criticised for not chasing after these people allegedly being overlooked by the efcc. considering their independence in terms of operation, nothing stops the icpc from whisking these branded 'sacred cows'. well maybe then we'll call them some other funny name like 'oldschools'.

if we want to call the WAC exercise a farce we have every right to but singling one out of the lot is outrightly bias.

all these allegations will not help matters, are these guys just going to pick bones in the house or are they going to do the business of the nation?
perhaps mr. speaker had mitigating circumstances that warranted his exemption from the nysc programme at the time.

they should get down to business asap and stop wasting tax payers' money.
Politics / Re: Who Is Fooling Who? by ojimboIV: 6:21pm On Nov 06, 2007
the efcc can not be described as a failure my man, for them to be put in that class you must have something to benchmark them against.

looking at the state of our roads, why don't we hold the road construction companies liable for the substandard jobs they do? it's not all about dumping tar on a stretch of lane and calling a road. why don't the government (which is shady by the way) let these companies know that they are liable at least for a set period of time for the state of whatever they deliver. instead the likes of Kalu will be quick to run to media bragging about how much they've allocated to road construction when infact the state of the roads is nothing to write home barely 6months after commissioning.
