Politics / Re: Presidential Election Tribunal Upholds Yar'adua's Election by ojimboIV: 2:28pm On Feb 26, 2008
Sky Blue:

lol, ojimbo, you just made my day with your last comment. Lack of evidence? Insult upon injury. Do you know why the court set this day for a verdict and not even two months further? They stopped taking evidence and listening to witnesses that Buhari provided. They came to that decision, in order to speed up the hearing because the evidence and witnesses were just too much. Everyday, a lot more witnesses and more evidence, and they are now saying something they actually stopped taking was in short supply? LOL, God please have mercy on us. It would have been less insulting if they said the ruling went the way it did because someone messed in court and they wanted to just get out of there fast

perhaps someone saved the day by farting, good gracious that must have been a smelly one.

you'll agree with me that the tribunal had got to stick to a defined timeline, because dilly-dallying or otherwise will just amount to unseriousness. buhari and atiku had enough time to put their cases together. if they approached it haphazardly, who's to blame?
Politics / Re: Presidential Election Tribunal Upholds Yar'adua's Election by ojimboIV: 2:05pm On Feb 26, 2008
we should all understand that the tribunal looked at the evidence tendered before it and made a decision. if there was reason to annul the elections trust me jega and ogebe wouldn't have held back and that is what justice is all about.

the dude even goes about running his mouth boasting about his MON award  grin. makes me wonder if his doctorate is an honorary degree he paid for or one he worked his ballz off for. he should hang his head in shame claiming to be a columnist, it will come as no surprise if it's for the sun.

Politics / Re: Unbelievable! Appeal Court Restores Andy Uba As Anambra Governor by ojimboIV: 10:33am On Feb 26, 2008
it is very unfortunate that people we expect to be learned are displaying such levels of stupidity. for uba to stoop so low as to challenge the verdict of the s'court shows he aint got no regard for the law and not fit to be governor. bloody clowns!!!
Business / Re: "You Can't Ban Spraying, It's Our Culture" - KSA To Soludo by ojimboIV: 5:45pm On Feb 19, 2008
the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' syndrome, is one of the ills of society. 'it's our culture' - makes me wonder if he'd (KSA) studied all the cultures in nigeria. but we have news for him too 'it should not be'.
Business / Re: "You Can't Ban Spraying, It's Our Culture" - KSA To Soludo by ojimboIV: 5:14pm On Feb 19, 2008
You just SHOT yourself in the foot with your Number  3 answer there,  :LMAO!!!!
perhaps u should.  grin

i know u r a law abiding citizen my man. and you know exactly what happens in a lawless state, right? it is not by force to obey the law be it by default or imposed on you. break it and get a fine, hours of community service or end up in the big house. and i stand against people undermining the efforts of other well meaning citizens.
Business / Re: "You Can't Ban Spraying, It's Our Culture" - KSA To Soludo by ojimboIV: 5:02pm On Feb 19, 2008
Kobojunkie:

Twisting is not same as answering questions. But based on your twists I have even more questions for you

1) How many bills out out of the bills printed are damaged by trampling at spray parties?? Do you have Data for that ??
2) How many of the pounds used at these parties are in trouble?? Do you have data to support these claims??
3) If you really believe common sense is needed here, then I suggest you go back to my Mad Men infested City theory again and come back with better answers please.

if that was twisting to u, pardon me. it just turns out we really do have an argument here.
1,2. perhaps you've got data that is confidential and gold dust to the contrary, it would be beneficial if u can share with us all.
3. if there is reason to believe that madness in those peeps developed after they smoked squeed for example, in trying to find a solution, u'll agree with me that to stop the smoking of squeed will be an appropriate move.

there is something known as mass awareness, and u'll agree with me it is a continuous process - might not be effective this year, but could do next year. and yes we should treat everyone like humans, but u defacing that 5 buck could make it rejected when a little kid turns up at the candy store 2months later only to return home depressed. so our actions that adversely affect others makes it an issue of personal if not national interest.
Business / Re: "You Can't Ban Spraying, It's Our Culture" - KSA To Soludo by ojimboIV: 4:35pm On Feb 19, 2008
@mamajama
i believe there are a million+1 threads on nairaland where those can be discussed

@kobojunkie
1. you keep talking about research and data collection, but i've got one simple answer as to y all that technology and manpower is not required - it is called common sense. trampling on notes which is an aftermath of spraying does cause damage, be it 10% or 90%.
2. and yes i spoke of our shady uncles too that recycle expired money
3. dollars and euros? i wonder y the pounds isn't in the list. and how does that affect the cbn? it is our problem we have to deal with.
Business / Re: "You Can't Ban Spraying, It's Our Culture" - KSA To Soludo by ojimboIV: 4:03pm On Feb 19, 2008
Just cause we see a lot of mad people on the streets does not mean we can conclude that the city is infested with mad people as we know they move around a lot and it could be the same group of mad people you have been seeing all day and there may be only 10 of them.

no doubt, but still begs the question though. shouldn't we do something about it? if there is reason to believe the cause can be attributed to an event, we shouldn't hesitate to bring it under control, rather than fold our hands and point at a million other reasons and still not do anything about them.
Business / Re: "You Can't Ban Spraying, It's Our Culture" - KSA To Soludo by ojimboIV: 3:51pm On Feb 19, 2008
@kobojunkie

u should understand that there is something known as solution by elimination. we don't need a prophet to tell us that spraying money is one glaring means of money degradation. so soludo is suggesting taking this gross abuse out of the equation. there's no doubt it is one of many, when the others poke their ugly heads out, trust me soludo will be the first to jump the gun.
Business / Re: "You Can't Ban Spraying, It's Our Culture" - KSA To Soludo by ojimboIV: 3:25pm On Feb 19, 2008
can i suggest that we have 'spray bills' for the sake of spraying money. the idea of spraying money defeats the entire aim of having money in the first place. just because one needs to be gratified by money at an event does not by any means imply that the paper money should be abused. it is gross misconduct and should not be encouraged by the likes of KSA et al. if entertainers and event organisers depend on it for their survival then perhaps they should set up charity boxes rather than undermine the efforts of our dear cbn. worse still, it leads us to a chicken and egg situation - the cbn spends money to mint money and to remove bad ones from the system, and on the other hand we've got our shady brothers, uncles and aunts (u know who), who are supposed to help us get rid of bad notes, refeeding back into the system,

Politics / Re: Nigerians To Pay More For Electricity by ojimboIV: 6:12pm On Feb 14, 2008
incompetence! what is the point of celebrating sustenance in democracy when the state of the ordinary man is deteriorating daily. time and again people have complained bitterly about the most basic of problems. i shared in dozie nwanna's embarrassment just d other day on the developing megaslums in lagos and other cities in nigeria. until it occurs to our leaders that the difficulty faced by the least citizen is also their problem, then i'm afraid we are still going plunge further deep into this stinking gutter.
Politics / Re: N50billion Police Equipment Fund Cornered by ojimboIV: 5:55pm On Feb 14, 2008
a fool-proof system will not allow this level of abuse of office, where a single entity (in this case mr. martins) is given sole authoritative signatory rights to institutional funds. it should NEVER be allowed except in extenuating circumstances.
Politics / Re: Nigerians To Pay More For Electricity by ojimboIV: 4:53pm On Feb 14, 2008
I can't disagree any less with dr. lukman's lecture.
the crisis in the power sector in Nigeria accumulated over two decades. “It is not realistic therefore to expect this crisis to be solved overnight. “In addition, we need to acknowledge that the power supply problem is a moving target.
the problem definitely snowballed over time, and the pathetic politicians couldn't deal with it. makes me wonder if we really have 'politicians', 'leaders' and 'people with passion' in nigeria. politicians are meant to 'talk' as well as 'motivate'  their subjects to 'change' things for the better, but i'm afraid a major fraction of the current set of people in power are not capable of delivering what it takes. 'the problem was due to the fact that previous administrations did not do anything about it'. for goodness sake. s. covey classifies 'blame trading' as a quality of an ineffective person, and i'm afraid this has been the order of the day in nigerian politics. until this present crop of politicians are phased out ([s]esp. those in the fec, dilly-dallying like mohawks gone completely wrong[/s]), the status quo will not change and we will still be in the same gutter.

mrpataki:

Too early to make a statement on this matter. Lets see who gets to replace Ribadu and whats the performance like.

dejavu,  third time lucky?
1. put efcc under agf - agf to handle all efcc prosecutions (flop)
2. efcc/icpc merger (flop)
3. statutorily fire boss man (??-??)

on that note i nominate chief michael aondoakaa, maybe then the scales will fall off our eyes to see that the bloody wac is just a farce.

naija!!!

it is now aldmonjoy and the ibori/sycophant naked sympathisers theory. which ever case it may be it is a very sad episode in the wac.

mp007 = tcube

we haven't failed to develop conspiracy theories in the current drama. i'll like to agree with some of the earlier contributors. perhaps we ain't ready to fight the war against corruption.

talking about ribadu and the efcc, we should know there is a finite distinction between passion and personalisation of office. i believe he portrayed the former.

and yes bigb1 has just dealt some of us a sucker punch, the 'old defective car' may not need pushing afterall.

the presidency has to issue a statement real fast on its position.

the yet-to-be caught looters have had a special SSD new year package courtesy of the 'rule of law' and will be rejoicing and laughing their guts off too.

NAIJA!!!!!

ok, What about the wind of change that has been blowing ?? Aren't the changes visible yet or are they still up in the air or something ??

we all know where the sweet wind of change is blowing. around aso rock within a 20mile radius and around the pockets of our leaders. the entire government is one big farce. it sickens me seeing these pictures after 8yrs of civil rule. it's really terrible.
Politics / Re: Kano, Lagos Lead In Youth Unemployment by ojimboIV: 4:13pm On Nov 27, 2007
adelodun's stats are fatally flawed. is he telling nigerians that only 0.02% of the population is unemployed? i think this is sickening. even the western countries can't boast of this unemployment percentage within the active workforce talk less of the entire population and talk even less of nigeria. the NDE has just branded itself a waste of tax payers' money. they better tell us what they have done to reduce the unemployment rate in the last 8yrs rather than beat their empty drums with useless figures.

Refering to the topic. Try to understand what i'm trying to say before you make a comment. Ten most wanted ? I never statd what they are wanted for.
Who knows they might be wanted for there knowledge in running the country?

if you are talking about the 10 most 'desired', these dudes fall way below the mark. can you please explain how you came about those figures, because they appear fantastical.

Politics / Re: Atiku Tenders 15 Exhibits Against Yar’adua’s Election by ojimboIV: 11:28pm On Nov 26, 2007
atiku's action is tantamount to punching fart. with the recent turn of events in the other electorial tribunal cases, it will be interesting to know if they will swing in his favour. he has pulled up such stunts in the run up towards the april elections, so he ain't new to the game.
Politics / Re: Pictures Of The Week by ojimboIV: 3:49pm On Nov 26, 2007
poor little sweet things sad. if only they knew their aunties and uncles (greedy LG heads) masterminded the degradation of the system. what a shame.
Crime / Re: Man Shoots Unarmed Buglar After Police Pleads With Him Not To by ojimboIV: 11:35am On Nov 21, 2007
classical chicken and egg scenario. unfortunately for the burglars, they didn't get it there way, you cannot prove that the shooter's action was antecedent in anyway. he obviously didn't wake up in the morning strategising how to do some human target practise. in as much as the two events were contiguous in that he didn't shoot at them on sight, his rationality could be questioned.

any idea on the budget for toilet paper??
Politics / Re: South South: A Time Bomb Waiting To Explode by ojimboIV: 6:31pm On Nov 18, 2007
@g benga,
i have been following the trend in the ND situation quite analytically, it is interesting to note that the crisis peaked just around the april elections. you'll agree with me that the best time for such an 'explosion' is at the transition phase, but it didn't happen. since then the activity has dwindled mainly because the major parties in the struggle have resorted to dialogue. now the breakout factions causing all sorts of atrocities are outlawed whether they like it or yes and have fallen into the class of common criminals that could be shot-on-sight. these outlaws you will have to agree with me are not fighting for the ND emancipation in whatever shape or form but after personal gains.
Politics / Re: Dan Etete Jailed In France by ojimboIV: 6:06pm On Nov 18, 2007
it's a shame, these dudes don't get the point do they? after all the dilly dallying, the french court puts a luscious 300Keuros into the french economy. money that could otherwise have gone a long way in the development of his village. after all the hustle and laundering he's finally got what he deserves. and of course some of these banks should be given the stick like allstates trust bank for aiding these dudes in their laundering exercises. they give a blind eye to this and that in my opinion is unprofessional and punishable.

what adedibu doesn't realise is that he is out of his elements. he should know that this has gone beyond his safe haven boundaries. his illiteracy has definitely caught up with him this time - running his mouth talking arrant nonsense about controlling the state and federal government and to crown it all resorting to libel without even realising it. kudos to the reporter for finally exposing this clown.
