perhaps we all need to be whacked with spiked clubs afterall.

some of the tactics employed by the efcc are controversial and questionable, but hey, we are talking about nigeria here, why do we need to paint a cob to make it look like a cat? setting up a new anti corruption is as good as reforming the efcc, in my opinion the latter is easier and more feasible.

YA looks like any other dude in suit. don't know if he's got the image and persona to go with it though.

another one from the nairaland crystal ball, let them cover their tracks, the truth is even the highest conspiracies are susceptible to flaws and despite the fact that these dudes have shortchanged the rivers people for the past 8yrs+, they are still accountable for the depressing state of things.

i don't understand why the the EFCC should be singled out in this respect, from my understanding there are other agencies involved in the WAC - ICPC, CCB, or better yet the police, i'm sure we'll have an endless swipe at the latter shocked.

despite the low profile the efcc has enjoyed in the present YA administration, blaming ribadu begs the question of the issue being discussed. in a very polarised nigeria in terms of development, it is amazing how we take garbage from our so called leaders and when there is an opportunity to call them to order and account for the misappropriation of funds, some of us see it differently. perhaps those few will be pleased to wake up tomorrow only to discover that the status quo has diminished 10 fold.

YA being the 'brain' behind nigeria should understand that sustainability has been the deficiency of the past administrations. rather than lead us down that blind alley to 'square now' - i.e. the PHCNs of today, i believe it'll make more sense to invest in research and development into alternative and regenerative forms of energy, recovery and deployment. i say this because we all know nigerians are talented in all facets of life and it would come to me as no surprise if a nigerian was to develop this innovative idea for one of the western countries.

@chi-nne
misappropriation of funds due to one's virtue of position is as bad as stealing in that the subject in this case the common nigerian is plunged deep into his misery.
in my opinion taking solace in the fact that she must have benefited from the entire episode shouldn't be encouraged in whatever shape or form.
what has become of madam speaker is a clear warning to poachers of the nation's treasury that when such issues come out into the watchful eyes of the public, the end result of a place in the hall or wall of shame (whichever the case maybe) is inevitable.

@Pk001
blaming the media on issues of reporting controversial issues of national interest is a well played out script and has been futile in the past. a lot of the nigerian media outfits are bias in their reports (higher bidder, sentiments and things like that), and quite a handful fall of the reports in this current case are of standards that are more or less shameful,

the truth of the matter is madam speaker was poorly advised in the first instance, which could have links to a lot of conspiracies in the house. not being smart enough to weigh the options let alone think of the bigger picture - the nigerian populace she swore to serve in the first place, made her unfit for the job.

i'm sorry but she's wasted useful time trying to undo the damage of the much acclaimed due process, only to find out in the end that it hurts real bad. another moral lesson learnt.

@FSU
you shouldn't be this careless paddyman, controversial issues like this should not be capitalised upon for your chauvinistic views. i don't even know where you think you are heading to with this.

YA and state of emergency. did he say he was gonna declare it in 100days?? by my calculations which may be flawed its over 5months and we are still in the dark about his bloody political agenda
Politics / Re: Criticise Yar'adua Here by ojimboIV: 11:46am On Oct 26, 2007
hasn't seem to have come across to the nigerian populace as the talking type nor the walking type,
Politics / Re: Supeme Court Removes Celestine Omehia,rotimi Amaechi In As Rivers State Governor by ojimboIV: 11:29am On Oct 26, 2007
we are yet to see the effects in all facets of governance. my guess is it's going to be huge, i'm sure all them lobbyist are on the prowl now, kissing ass here and there to get their 'fair' share of the brick house goodies.

twinstaiye:

This makes him the first Governor in Nigeria who did not stand before the electorates before becoming a Governor. I still find it very hard to believe that someone who did not stand for an election, did not campaign for an election, present a manifesto for an election, did not even tell the people his programme of action if elected is now a Governor - What a judgment! Perhaps, it is only in Nigeria that we now have a Governor who was not duly elected by the electorates. Read this

in all honesty, the sadist who wrote this script must be laughing his guts off, what a farce!!!

it'll be quite interesting to see the unfolding of events - the efcc corruption issue (if there was any at all), reconciliation with or better yet retaliation against his perceived tormentors, and the ricocheting effect on the cultism and many more, this will be the making of a classical bestseller, any takers?
