Envoy raises alarm over Nigerian prostitutes influx into Saudi Arabia

The Nigerian ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Garba Aminchi, has raised an alarm over the increasing influx of Nigerian girls into Saudi Arabia for prostitution.

Aminchi who was fielding questions from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Mecca, Saudi Arabia said already about three different syndicates that specialised in trafficking young girls into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had been smashed.

He said some members of the syndicates and their victims were apprehended and deported to Nigeria after serving prison terms in Saudi Arabia.

The ambassador stated that some of the arrested girls were not even Muslims but they were answering Muslim names to further deceive the security agencies.

He noted that Saudi Arabia was attracting prostitutes from Nigeria because of the erroneous belief that prostitution was a booming venture in the kingdom.

Aminchi added: “It’s really booming particularly here in Jeddah, there was a time they even called our attention that there are some Nigerians roaming the streets as ‘good evening girls’.  They said Nigerians, I said ‘No’.

“They said if you want to give us one week we will bring them with their passports.

“Surprisingly, when they brought with their passports, they don’t even understand the language we were speaking. Wallahi. They are being brought in just to get money; very disturbing; very alarming.’’

The ambassador, however, noted that criminal activities by Nigerians in the kingdom in recent times had drastically reduced by about 50 per cent.

He identified the introduction of the e-passport by the Nigeria Immigration Service and the deliberate change of negative attitudes by a good number of Nigerians as main factors responsible for the reduction in criminal behaviour.

‘From the intelligence we have received from both Saudi and our own people here in our missions we notice that most of the crimes that normally occurred during Umrah and Hajj had reduced by more than 50 percent”, he explained.

“That shows a remarkable increase in the good behaviour of Nigerians particularly the Muslims who normally come here to perform Umrah.

“So, this is a welcome development and I will like to call on all Nigerians to continue to behave in the normal way, according to international standard and any wrong doing will really tarnish the image of our country which we are trying always to protect.’’

Aminchi enjoined Nigerians to continue to exhibit the virtues of self discipline, honesty and patriotism to enhance the good image of Nigeria abroad.

Meanwhile, he said that 1,500 Nigerians illegally residing in that country will be deported soon.

According to Aminchi, some of  them were caught engaging in criminal activities like stealing and robbery while others were  apprehended for street begging or constituting a nuisance.

The envoy further disclosed that more than 20,000 Nigerian illegal immigrants were deported in the last 12 months for similar offences.

Aminci said most of the criminal activities being perpetrated by Nigerians in Saudi Arabia  included  fraud, theft, robbery and  prostitution.

He pointed out that the Nigerian embassy in collaboration with Saudi security agencies had embarked on identifying those Nigerians illegally residing in the country with a view to deporting them.

On this year’s Lesser Hajj, Aminchi said the number of pilgrims from Nigeria had increased tremendously.

He said: “What we have observed is a tremendous increase of Nigerians coming for Umrah which almost doubled what we normally see in the previous years.

“ One interesting thing we noticed is the behaviour of the pilgrims. Previously, there used to be chaos at the reception centres.

“ People did not know what to do, how they arrange themselves, how they pursue the immigration process and procedure.

“But now, most of the Nigerians are enlightened. They know the procedures. They line up in an orderly manner and they will take their turn one after the other until the last pilgrim. “

The ambassador further said that more than 120,000 Nigerians would be performing this year’s pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia in the next two months.

He said that 100,000 of the prospective pilgrims would be coming in through the Hajj commissions in states while the remaining 20,000 would be performing the pilgrimage through independent airline operators.

@Kodewrita. You are not alone in this that's why you have legal and business frameworks to handle those aspects of business and more. What do you think will happen if somebody like Dangote dies today? just as an example. Who inherits his wealth? Definitely not any of the other directors on the board and not any of the shareholders.

Businesses can only grow and remain sustainable if they are structured accordingly. Remember they are entities.

Anything outside this is just hobby. Show me a business that is not structured and I would show you a business heading for the rocks. No matter how big, just a matter of time. Usually dies at the death of the owner.
Good yarn

Okadaman's Teachable Moment:

Students, replace "business" in this post with "Nigeria" or "country" and you have a good explanation of our country's problem. Those who are not ready to restructure Nigeria cannot change it.

Finally you decide to expose your true identity which I know must have informed your comment so far, on this note I must tell you now that you have failed.

1) You think GEJ reason from the anus like you to succumb to your pressure and do the wrong thing in order for you to have what to nail him with?

2) He is educated and not like you that pressured your way and acquired illicit characters. Hence you can't see reason with a person that knows how to douse the ambers of BH inferno without being nicknamed {northern leaders killers}

3) Let me ask you, what do expect of him, kill the like of Buhari and IBB because they didn't support him from the onset. You are being used. But the guy in question will defeat you and your dumb tricks anytime any day. Watch out.

4) If GEJ has killed only one notable northerner the headline of the story would read something comical as these, A SOUTHERN PRESIDENT AS DECIDED TO WIPE OUT ALL NOTABLE NORTHERNERS.

I have said it before and I’m saying it again, Una too small to sabotage GEJ Na una sef na go kill.

Lagos-Ibadan Expressway: Bi-Courtney set to complete repairs
http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/27328-lagos-ibadan-expressway-bi-courtney-set-to-complete-repairs
Monday, 29 August 2011

Nigerians who are set to travel for the end of Ramadan celebration through the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway have been promised a smooth ride, as palliative works on the expressway are being completed far ahead of the 60-day ultimatum given by the Minister of Works, Mr Mike Onolememen.

Mr Onolememen had, on July 23, directed the concessionaire, Bi-Courtney Highway Services Limited, to complete the palliative works by September 30, by which time the climate would be friendlier for the expected reconstruction of the 105 kilometre expressway that is acclaimed as the busiest in the country.

Bi-Courtney has completed the patching and overlaying of some bad portions of the expressway, preparatory to full-scale reconstruction that is being handled by the company.

While thanking Nigerians for their understanding, Bi-Courtney’s spokesman, Dipo Kehinde, said in a press statement issued on Sunday: “Road users demand satisfaction, and that’s what we shall give them. We thank God for removing, day by day, every obstacle on the path of this all important project. This is the road to prosperity. We shall deliver it in good time, and we shall make it a source of pride to President Goodluck Jonathan and all Nigerians.”

“The pace of work would have been faster if the Ogun State government had not stalled the installation of our asphalt plant at the RCC yard. The state government is also preventing Bi-Courtney from securing the Right of Way (ROW), which is a major step that we must take before commencing the task of expanding and reconstructing the road.

“Notwithstanding all the political hurdles on the path of progress, Bi-Courtney has been working on the road, improving the shoulders and clearing the bushy median to improve drivers’ vision on the road.”
