Politics / Re: Musa Yar'adua Is The New President Of Nigeria! by Okeamu1(m): 11:44am On Apr 24, 2007
OBJ trusted atiku and now he can see the challenge atiku has against him, I wont be surprise if yardua turns against OBJ due to pressure, This hausa men, little is really know about them in nigeria. they r not loud mouth like the igbos and yorubas, they have one hearth and can easily give their life just like the talebans. , My only fear on Yardua is imposing some religious ethics to the whole nigeria.

Even though he may not want to do this, out of pressure from north, he might be tempted to do this. Hausa muslism are very commited and i wont doubt seeing this in his administration

Its known though no matter how much a woman denies it, Security is a major factor in choosing a mate and not really how handsome the guy is. Security can come in form or money or time or both. Maybe the woman is just waiting for this, be patient guys and just keep trying, there are many girls out there,

Programming / Re: Why Nigerian Software Firms Are Absent On The Global Map by Okeamu1(m): 3:41pm On Mar 24, 2007
DJNiyi:

We are not in the 3rd world. By we , I am referring to the demographic of Nigerian software developers that will get to read this post, many of whom can afford to eat three square meals a day.

High tech refers to the cutting edge, innovative section of IT. There is nothing magical about it. We all got taught the same things in uni so what gives? I've seen some of the guys in my class in uni go on to sign deals in Silicon Valley.

The fact is innovation and scale is the basis of competition nowadays. If you don't innovate and you can't scale, then you can't compete, and you'll be wiped out. Simple. It is the reason why many of us have Yahoo - a foreigh portal's email accounts instead of enownow - a local portal's email accounts. They are both portals but one was late to the game whilst the other was conceived ages ago and crucially, has a global strategy.

It is quite clear that competition is global and if we don't have a global strategy, these firms will eventually come in (or get invited in by our own people) and clean us out. Even having a West Africa strategy isn't enough.

We are in the third world, denying it will not solve the problem, acknowledging it and working towards changing it will make a big change,

Alot of softwares are already out there providing services to people, visit www.download.com and download samples, We have a long way to go,
Programming / Re: Why Nigerian Software Firms Are Absent On The Global Map by Okeamu1(m): 2:48pm On Mar 24, 2007
We r third world and that says it all, people should afford 3 square meals before worrying about high tech,

Business / Re: Investing In Nigeria: How Risky? by Okeamu1(m): 9:21pm On Mar 20, 2007
Seun:

Absolutely not! In Nigeria, you cannot trust your brother or sister or even the ones that bore you.

Its not only Nigeria. You don't trust anyone around the globe when it comes to business. Get a Business lawyer and get everything signed. If there is no escape strategy explicitly defined in the business plan, don't sign any document. Make sure you have all your witness and all parties involved before any dealings, Irrespestive of how close they are to you. Make sure they understand what they are signing Every violator shall bear the consequence.

Infact when it comes to investment, its better to use people who are already there, pay them some certain % on ROI plus working capital. You don’t just give money to hungry people without any assets and expect them to not steal it including members of your family. This is why wise investors pay companies like Gold Man Sach, fidelity inc, Meryl Lnch among others so they can manage your assets. Note these companies mentioned are financial investment firm that are already there. In investment, we have high risk investors and low risk investors, the difference is that in high risk investment, people invest in start up business while low risk investors invest in businesses that has been existing for considerable among of years. Also another difference is that high risk investors can make more money but chances of survival is lower, low risk people get low ROI but their business has high chances to succeed. If you are not good with math or analyzing financial documents, get a broker who do these things for living,

In Nigeria/Africa we have millions of them to consult. The key to any investor is to do a comprehensive research and know what you are doing before putting your money in any thing. If you are interested in investing in africa/nigeria. Here are some links for you to read, look at the companies, view their stock options, etc depending on your type of investment. For example http://www.firstglobalselect.com/scripts/cgiip.wsc/globalone/htm/index.r

If you need African broker visit http://www.africanselect.com/scripts/cgiip.wsc/tradeone/html/index.r

And then register with them

If you are looking to start from scratch, based on research, most fresh starters fail due to poor planning and high optimism. Instead of starting from scratch, find a merger if possible. If they refuse to take you because what you offer is not competitive or because you lack the infrastructure (infrastructure includes both your trade secrets, capital base, machineries, lands and landed properties and connections), marry fresh bee companies and grow with them,

I will not emphasize enough on how important it is to have all documents with your lawyer in every step and do more research and don’t just agree on what people say. The rule in business is simple, when you start first, the risk is high, as you keep on forging ahead, the risk will be decreasing, the more competitive you get and the more people will be interested in you

Finally assuming everything fails and u think u have enough assets to move on, simply find a broker and invest in other firms until your bargain reaches a point where its undoubtedly going to succeed. This point will be clear to you because Business RISK will decrease on the ROI span will decrease.

Its funny how many people voted for Duke. Probably because we all use the internet and kinda educated. Majority of these voters dont even have internet and might even be illiterates hence they will be left to their fate to chose the person that is corrupt. Even if majority votes for duke, I still dont think he will win because of looting the election result. The next president has been written.

Guys, you will hear from me soon. i am just too busy with my work.

@LanreDaMan at this point, you should be ashamed of yourself for such a negative comment. A person is looking for a job. That is a big sign for a change in his/her life and the person obviously needs help. With your attitude and negative comments about job seekers, Nigeria will never be a better place. I dont live in Nigeria but I know that my work is being appreciated all over. If you have knowledge, share among others to help Nigeria restore its values,

Chevron in Nigeria
Come be a part of a dynamic team in one of Chevron’s largest areas of exploration and production and one of Africa’s most prolific oil-producing countries.

Chevron has been active in Nigeria since 1913, when legacy company Texaco products were first brought to the market. Under the banners of Chevron subsidiaries Texaco Overseas (Nigeria) Petroleum Co. (TOPCON) and later Chevron Nigeria Ltd. (CNL), the company discovered Nigeria’s first offshore oil fields in 1963—the Koluama and Okan fields.

In 1997 CNL started the Escravos Gas Project (EGP), the nation’s first major project to gather and process natural gas. The completed project will increase exports to more than 43,000 barrels per day of liquefied petroleum gas and condensate. Continuing the search for offshore oil, CNL discovered the Agbami field in 1999 and uncovered potential recoverable resources of 900 million barrels of oil equivalent, Nigeria’s largest ever deepwater discovery.

Today Chevron has the largest acreage position in deepwater offshore Nigeria and owns and operates more than 300 Texaco-branded service stations, blending and manufacturing facilities and marketing activities. CNL is expanding rapidly and investing significant capital to drive long-term production growth in Deepwater and Gas, as well as other base businesses. At the same time, Chevron is committed to actively promoting a safe and healthy environment. The Nigeria Escravos Gas Project and other gas-to-liquids initiatives will reduce natural gas flaring by a projected 680 million cubic feet daily by 2008. At the same time, Chevron, working with a consortium of West African local governments, is developing a West African Gas Pipeline that is expected to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 100 million metric tons over 20 years.

Opportunities with Chevron Nigeria
Chevron’s Nigeria operations are based in Lagos, Nigeria. Chevron Nigeria Limited is committed to hiring the best individuals for positions consistent with the long-term best interests of the company. This commitment reflects Chevron’s continuing policy to afford equal opportunity to qualified individuals regardless of their religion, sex, age, disability, or veteran status. This commitment is more than adhering to laws. It is the recognition and appreciation of individual uniqueness and the value of a diverse workforce.

Whatever your career dreams, you will have the opportunities to pursue and achieve them at Chevron. As a part of the team, you will never stop learning. Individual growth is encouraged, with robust opportunities for both personal development and making a contribution to company-wide success.

To find out what positions are available with Chevron Nigeria or to apply for a position, please submit your resume to NG_JOBS@chevron.com.
