comrChris: I doubt if atall we need change in this country, for crying out loud this woman made a point that deserves looking into but unfortunately the youth especially in this forum that are ment to get her point are so irresponsible. She raised a question asking why there were no blomb blast aftert osun and edo election which were won by apc rather there were blomb blast after anambra, ondo and ekiti election,, for the person asking if there was a blomb blast in anambra,it must not necessarilly happen in anambra but it happened in the usual place(north) after election in those states she mentioned. You really took that out of my mouth, i wonder why we the youth that are supposed to be more reasonable just look at things from the abstract. She asked some reasonable questions that we should critically examine and watch the trend of unfolding events, always remember someone made a promise to MAKE THE COUNTRY UNGOVERNABLE before 2011 elections. Call it what you like but i think we need to ask ourselves some questions. |
THE GODS ARE NOT BE BLAMED: BUT THE PEOPLE INSTEAD: Knowledge they say is the legal power structure of corporation between two people. I remember in my little age being told the Story of how these Environmental Terrorists (Oil Companies) mostly the British Mafia Organization (SPDC) came into occupy our Land aggressively. I was told some Communities like Peremabiri in Southern Ijaw L.A...of Bayelsa State, celebrated them with the phrase; "Shell-Go-Pay". These British Organized Crooks (The BOC'S) came in with a bottle of Scotch Whisky Gin, as a sign of gift, & respect to appease the gods & villagers, like a docile cow ready for milking. Finally they (Communities) were flattered, hooded & crooked. No formal aggreement , MOU or Letter of Ownership was written by both parties, it was not easy knowing who to believe, whether the Community Elders, or the Accused (SPDC). It was like a lost battle, due to the ignorance of the Kings, the BOC'S had outmanoeuvred the people. When a subject is not taught in school, & you don't have the text book to learn, how would you pass the exams? Sad, very sad, it was a story where the Cock-crows & the Hen holds his peace. When you study the history of these Environment Terrorists, a touching & interesting perspective emerged; on one hand, "the people saw the opportunity", & on the other hand, "they do not play to the set of rules that governed the society". Just like the Bible reads; "My people perish for lack of wisdom". This is the opposite story of the Kelvin Costner's type, "who robbed from the rich & give to the poor". In this case, you're caused the most pain for aggressively taking from the poor & given back to the rich. Sorrow, tears, pain & abuse, neglect over pollution, flatulency, density & viscosity, no more farming or fishing which is the means & major occupation of the people. O God, at sporting events, a gentleman would not begrudge the other team it's victory. If his own team is the victor, he does not taunt the opposition. But this was not a case of a gentleman, where one was expecting to get a gift from a friend, or in hopes of picking up helpful return. When the Communities cried, Government instead will offer a cocktail approach & say, "but i don't drink alcohol", they offered no further solutions, after all, all the Oil Blocks in the Niger Delta are owned by Northern Principalities (Majorities) who the British handed over power to since the colonization of Nigeria in 1960. The Ijaw-Man (South-Southerner) is a careless but peaceful man, which i would not pray that task on anyone, in the face of errosions, & corroding landslide cases of our community waterfronts. For the Hausas (North), they are very crafty people who will do everything within their reach to keep Power, whether by coup or any form. And for the Yoruba's (West), consider him a traitor, & foundation of today's debt-ridden Nigeria, who creates the risk faced by average middle class people. For the Igbo's (East), they're income-generating assets, but bent on greed. Well, the real tragedy here to the Ijaw-Man was lack of education, this was a last-minute panic, which inevitably lead to acts of desperation & skill-given disaster. THE GODS ARE NOT TO BE BLAMED; they gave us wealth & cursed our Father's generation. The only option was to stand up & take advatange of our generation, to protect & fight for Self-Determination Resource-Control & Political-Space. This lead to the sound of the guns in the Creeks of Niger Delta, because we comprehend that the only language Nigerians understands was the sound of the guns, not English, neither Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo. Today, whatever be the choice, Nigeria is enjoying a borrowed PEACE, because all is still not WELL with our communities. But because we (South-South) have gotten that Political-Space which was the paramount of the Agitation, we bear Peace, even if like briefly a badge of honor for conservation, we urge to continue in the table of dialogue rather than resolving our differences with the dawdle of the sword. But this PEACE is like a glassware being entertained in another man's house, as we continue to experience "Religious-Intolerance", "Tribal-Raspberry", "maim & killings, by Boko Haram in some parts of the North to make other people feel small, or lure the Military for a possible coup to conduct elections at their own wish & return power back to North, as this will secure their OIL BLOCK LICENCES that'll expire 2016. We have suffered humiliation lodged between greed & decoy since Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan came into power as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. A humble, committed & God-fearing President who should have been given the opportunity to build a new Nigeria for the younger generation, this old disgusting power hungered anthropophagites had kept the side of violence, folly & disunity. What happens after Jonathan's 8 years, I believe you'll be careful to outline the answer? I know Nigerians are smart, unpaved & thoughtful people, am certainly going to look forward to enjoying your answers, this Country is in our hands, the wine is in your bottle, either to pour it, or you save it. Ex-Militant Leader: (Gnr-Ogunboss). |
Naija can form, most of you talking about hygiene here still go to the so called fast food and eat foods cooked and stored at wrong temperature, foods that are more prone to pathogens, how many food safety rules do we abide with in Nigeria if its even existing, our local restaurants are not giving any guidelines on food preparation and storage, and we still eat these food without complain. On your question about BOLE, if you roast plantain , you notice the it becomes very solid like dry food, if you eat it that way especially when it is hot, its very okay and free from pathogen even better than foods from our fast food joints. |
Three Nigerians in Dubai has been recognized for scoring 100% in a food safety course at Emirates Flight Cathering, The three Nigerians sat for the examination alongside 37 other trainees of different Nationalities but the Nigerians were the only ones to score all the available points. The Nigerians whose names were given as Williams Babajide Samuel, Akimbi Mathew and Okom Timothy are all staff of Emirates Flight Cathering, The Examination was conducted by UK's leading supplier of food safety training HIGHFIELD UK. The company Company representative rewarded the three Nigerians with AED100 each (N6500) each to encourage them to keep giving their country good name.

cost of living is high but most companies will provide you with accommodation and transport, some will even feed you and do you laundry |
dahonestboss: this is what you get when you depend on an agent to get a visa or do RUNS on your behalf, as a Nigerian, you should have learn to be independent and doing things by yourself, because you can never disappoint yourselfYou can never get Dubai visa yourself except you have someone living in Dubai that can help you with it,i was in UK in 2011 and i did every thing on my own. |
ogakpatakpata: what is the job situatioln like in dubai? hw much does 1 or 2months visa cost plus ticket? hw much did your trip cost you?. l hv a brother who just finish his school in canada, but is back home now and wants to come and work in dubai, he has 5diploma,s in management, psychology, drug&alcohol counseling, security&police sciences and legal studies. hw much do u think he will be paid and hope they recognise foreign certificates. pls reply. thanksHe has a chance of making it here but i cant really say how much he will be paid coz it depends. Your trip to this place will cost around 400-450K depending on your spendin, and be ready to adapt. |
holysmoke: The same reason that makes politicians want to make enough money for generations unborn. That makes policemen seer their conscience with a hot iron just to get by. There are still sincere Nigerians though. And they are not as few as many would have us believe.I believe you guy but the thiefs seems to be more in number |
I have noticed that most Nigerian especially when they go reside off the shores of Nigeria tend to make it by all means and end up doing all sort of criminal stuff. From the travel agent in Nigeria whose yes means no to the numerous Nigerians in the streets of Deira in Dubai,UAE. Imagine guys collecting as much as $1700 for two months VISA and the worst is that some of them might not even do it at all. Normal visa price from agents should be around 1k or less including the extension fee but this guys will never pay for your extension even when they have collected that huge amount from you. Some will still collect about $300 from you for accommodation and $200 for linking you to were you can submit CV not automatic job. WHY ? Kenyans, Ugandans and some small countries of Africa are every were in most companies here occupying good position because they help each other and are very patient but w Nigerians want to be rich under 3 months and go back to show off in Niaja. Its very bad and we all re suffering it,it is the same problem we have at home.I was a victim of this same people but today i,m doing better than the guy that collected $500 from me on arrival only to put me in a room of about 9 naija guys and i later got to know that he only paid $50 for my accommodation to them,he showed me a place to submit my CV and he collected $300.THIS IS BAD.This is just my own personal experience and i know so any people are going through same thing every day i different part of the world. MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING. |

Fellow nairaland members, lets cast votes for or against fashola if he is to contest for president come 2011.would you vote for him?maybe our vote might just give him the courage he is looking for.start voting |
We deserve the type of leadership we have because so many Nigerians are unpatriotic. On a more serious note the people in government are our father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, church members, friends etc.Have you ever stayed after casting ur vote and see it counted,we are always in a hurry to no where,i think its time we take our destiny in our hands,so that people like YARAMUMU aka MR SNAIL will never be in any office. |
we at home are behind you.maybe we will start mobilising nairalanders for similar action. |
