As odd as it may sound, its true. Early 2018 , I was driving to Benin from Warri, just at Army check point after Mercy land a police officer stopped me, without much talk just jokes and they asked me to help drop one of them going to oghara. I did with all pleasure, we where gisting and I felt free since no police would stop me. We didn't go up to 6km , the police man just started hissing, when I probed, he claim to have left his wallet and ATM at the checkpoint, I wanted to drive back but he said I should not worry he will go with the team later. I zoom off, after about 2km, I became really pressed so I pulled over, after answering nature's call I was about driving when I noticed the muld his boot has left on my footmat so I decided to dust it before moving only for me to discover 3 live cartridge under the footmarch. I quickly threw it away and zoomed off. Few minutes later I was stopped by police and they ransacked my car as if something was amiss. I really thank God that day, since then my perception about police has changed, even the very jovial ones can still plan your doom. God help us.

Its a pity people still decided to vote for this incompetent government, maybe I'm not understanding what good governance means any more.

MINE IS WORST!

I rented a new house, 3 months no light was connected to the apartment, later the Landlord said the former occupant in the house was owning almost 180k and that NEPA wont connect light until this is paid. HE PAID 100k and ASKED us to pay 80k , if not we wont have light, i restricted, but other tenants had to pay and connected the light and finally termed me a debtor because i refuse to pay. Then My greatest surprise was that there was no meter both analog and digital, NO meter at all. I went to the district my self and inquired, they said that is what was approved, i requested for a prepaid meter for myself, He said that i should pay 70k. i left with all disappointment.

MY Greatest surprise was that the first bill was above 30k , i wondered why and how they read the bill, and there wasnt anyone that came in to shake the units .

Uptill now we pay nepa bill of what we did not consume, no meter, plus almost 10k each flat paid on the alleged claimed debt by the former occupant of the demolished house.

Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) is an independent regulatory body with authority for the regulation of the electric power industry in Nigeria. NERC was formed in 2005 under the Obasanjo administration’s economic reform agenda through the Electric Power Sector Reform Act, 2005 for formation and review of electricity tariffs, transparent policies regarding subsidies, promotion of policies that are efficient and environmentally friendly, and also including forming and enforcing of standards in the creation and use of electricity in Nigeria. NERC was instituted primarily to regulate the tariff of Power Generating companies owned or controlled by the government, and any other generating company which has a license for power generation and transmission of energy, and distribution of electricity. THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING INDEPENDENTLY EVEN UNDER GEJ.

What's up with us always wanting to defend crooks given they are our tribesmen or from our region down South? I don't see Muslims or Northerners going up in arms when Buhari goes after one if them over corruption related issues.

Imagine a Chief Justice saying he "forgot" to declare a bank account owned by him! How can anyone with a brain, even a retarded one, step up to defend this?

Aren't we simply telling ourselves "it is okay to be a thief as long as you're my brother"?

Amaechi was right after all.
You people forgets easily, Gov Gajude that was caught on video collecting bribe has not been investigated till today but rather he was praised on international media, why he is a loyal northerner. About a year ago I read a post about a guy that complained to NERC about his outrageous bill and after consistent follow up he was even given a Prepaid meter and his bills wiped out completely.

Few days later I scanned all my estimated bills and forwarded it to the NERC but copied BEDC.

In two days I got a message to fromto contact the Asaba unit of the NERC, when I did , a young man called me and was asking for a proof that I have complained to BEDC before contacting them. I told him most of my complaints were verbal and I don't have any written proof. He rubbished me and told me to go get my facts right.

I didn't give up, I contacted Benin again, this time I got a better response. NERC gave BEDC a ten days ultimatum to resolve my issue. Two days later I got a call that someone from BEDC is coming to my apparent to do a load check. I agreed and in three days the man arrived and did his check. My load calculation were not done right there but I was just made to sign the no of electric consuming properties found in my house.

Weeks passed, months and I didn't hear anything from BEDC. I resumed my email service, this time straight to Abuja and I didn't even get a response. I was patient and I continued sending Mail as reminder.

After almost one year I just got my bill wiped off. Bill arrears of over 98k wiped off, infact we have a negative bill as I'm talking to you.

Thank you nairaland for the information.

Fashion / Why Your Cloths Are Changing To Yellowish Inside Wardrobe by okomogo(m): 3:31pm On Jan 11, 2019
Several different factors can cause fabrics to yellow. What is most disheartening to most of your customers is when they store a light colored garment and months or years later pull it out to
find yellow stains, streaks, or an overall yellow cast. Yellowing in storage can be caused by a variety of situations. This bulletin addresses potential storage problems, causes of yellowing of garments, and possible remedies for the problems.

FLUORESCENT WHITENING AGENTS
Optical brighteners or fluorescent whitening agents are applied to fabrics to enhance their brilliance and whiteness. These brighteners can decompose and yellow as a result of heat from drying or steam finishing, bleaching, exposure to light, or long term exposure to atmospheric gases in storage. Natural or artificial light exposure during use or storage is usually only apparent on exposed areas of a garment such as shoulders, sleeves or exposed folds. Unexposed areas such as under the lapels or on the reverse side will remain bright and white. Usually there is no remedy to this problem since optical brighteners or fluorescent whitening agents can not be reapplied to most fabrics. However, on some washable fabrics, a wet cleaning and reapplication of whitening agents will sometimes restore items to a usable condition.

OXIDATION AND YELLOWING OF SIZING
Many cellulose fibers such as cotton, rayon, linen, and ramie are treated with sizings to give the fabric luster, sheen, and hand. Some of the sizings or starches tend to yellow, some more readily than others. Objectional yellowing can occur with age and may be accelerated by the heat necessary for deodorizing and finishing after cleaning. To improve the appearance of this type of yellowing, carefully wet clean the garment. This process may be followed by bleaching in a mild oxidizing bleach such as hydrogen peroxide or chlorine bleach, if necessary.
MYSTERIOUS YELLOW STAINS
Stains from juices, beer, soft drinks, tea, coffee, or other foods or beverages that contain
tannin or sugars can cause stains to develop during storage through oxidation. These stains
were probably invisible when the garments were put away. Once the stain has been left in the fabric, it oxidizes and becomes apparent as time passes. These stains may be very difficult to remove, especially from wool, silk, and nylon. The longer the stain is allowed to age, the more difficult it is to remove. In some fabrics, extensive specialized stain removal agents may lighten the stains enough so that the garment can be returned to a wearable condition.
ACCUMULATION OF WATERSOLUBLE IMPURITIES IN USE AND STORAGE
Discoloration that is confined to the surface of the fabric or areas that have received the greatest exposure to the effects of light and atmospheric soils when in use or in storage is referred to as accumulation of water-soluble impurities. White and pastel fabrics are more prone to showing discoloration from this type of accumulation of soils. To remove this staining, carefully wetclean and soak in a bath of warm water with several ounces of synthetic neutral
detergent and an alkali, such as ammonia. After a short soaking, rinse, extract, and air dry. Do not add ammonia to protein fabrics, such as silk or wool.
SUBLIMATION OF DYE
Some fabric dyes tend to change to a vapor and then transfer and condense onto other articles in use or storage, forming stains, usually in the form of streaks. This type of staining usually develops when a dye sublimation occurs from a dark colored acetate fabric. This discoloration slowly develops over a long period of contact with another article. However, the staining can also develop when items are not in direct contact with one another. Heat may cause this process to occur more easily if a garment is stored in a warm place. In some cases, the staining can be removed by the use of a ten percent solution of alcohol.
BHT YELLOWING
When there is an alkaline finish on a garment, exposure to moisture, nitrogen oxide gases, and/or storage in polyethylene bags or film can cause yellowing to occur. With time, nitrogen dioxide reacts with butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) used in plastic packaging. Research has shown that certain fibers, mainly nylon, is susceptible to this yellowing when contaminated with BHT. Nitrogen oxide gases are formed when air contacts any hot surface, such as a heating furnace, gas or electric cooking range, or any type of gas or electric heater. When these gases contact plastics containing BHT they can cause fume fading on fabrics. This conversion to yellow may be accelerated if there is an an alkaline finish on the fabric. Therefore, the reaction can sometimes be reversed by acidifying the stained areas. This yellowing should not be confused with natural overall yellowing that occurs in some fibers such as wool or virgin nylon. Stains caused by BHT usually form as rings, spots, or streaks on areas near openings, perforations, tears, or holes in the bag or film. IFI’s Garment Analysis Laboratory has been able to reverse this discoloration with the use of a mild acetic acid bath followed by rinsing in cold water. As long as the fabric remains in an acidic state, it is protected from BHT yellowing. To help prevent this yellowing, use ethylene bags that do not contain BHT. Advise your customers that all storage areas should be as free from outside polluted air as possible. Air pollution increases the amount of nitrogen dioxide in the air.

Politics / The Vindication Of Jonathan by okomogo(m): 2:42pm On Jan 11, 2019
DIALOGUE WITH NIGERIA BY AKIN OSUNTOKUN
“In 2015, we campaigned against GEJ for paying fuel subsidy at 30milion liters/day for a daily consumption of 20million liters. Today the APC is paying for 50million barrels on daily consumption in a situation in which it is inconceivable that Nigeria can consume up to 30 million liters per day”-Senate President Bukola Saraki.

In the unraveling of the Muhammadu Buhari Presidency, it is difficult not to read the vindication of President Goodluck Jonathan. Bad as the Jonathan’s government was made to look, there are no indices of comparison in which this government has not fared worse. Given the comprehensive and almost inexplicable failure of the Buhari government there is the temptation to seek recourse in the metaphysical rationalisation that there is the element of karma at play here.

Rising above his disappointment at the loss of power in 2015, Jonathan was full of good faith and goodwill in his acceptance of defeat and the obligation of gracefully turning over the reins of government to his opponent. As we have come to learn, though, the maneuverings that secured the victory for Buhari were not totally transparent and above board-the shenanigans in Kano inclusive of the mysterious death of the resident electoral commissioner and his family in a conflagration, is illustrative. The coincidence is also striking that the commissioner of police in Kano State at this crucial period was no less the incumbent Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris. Top among the explanations for his meteoric elevation to the apex of police authority is the interpretation that it can only logically be a deliberate reward for special services rendered. In turn, he has reciprocated the gesture with naked Buhari and APC partisanship.

A lot of Nigerians have wondered at the ease and readiness with which President Olusegun Obasanjo reconciled and endorsed the presidential candidacy of his former deputy and main opponent of Buhari in the forthcoming presidential election, Atiku Abubakar. The explanation for this retraction is self-evident in the present danger that the reelection of Buhari, more than any other contender in memory, poses to Nigeria. With regards to the 2015 Buhari choice, there is a lesson to learn in the fact that almost all the critical stakeholders who rallied to his support have had cause to regret their role in aiding and abetting the election of Buhari especially Obasanjo. As President, Jonathan had his conspicuous shortcomings and inadequacies but a lot of these were also exaggerated and contrived-yet he bore no grudge and happily joined Nigerians and international well-wishers (who had sold themselves a dummy) in the consecration of his successor as the long awaited messiah. But how has this gesture be reciprocated? Bereft of basic decency and honesty his successor chose to exploit him as the perpetual fall guy for their unmitigated governance failure.

In one of the illustrations of the tragicomedy propensities of the Buhari presidency, my friend, Garba Shehu, made the following allegation: “The claims that President Muhammadu Buhari spent 166 days without forming a cabinet, that absolutely is untrue…It took him time to form a cabinet because the outgoing administration in 2015 did not cooperate with the transition committee. The president was given handover notes 48 hours to the handover of power and for whatever reason, the president at that time determined that…the question that President Buhari was asking, for details of this and that, amounting to running a second government in office. And he came out to all his ministers and permanent secretaries not to cooperate with Buhari that this country will not have two governments running at the same. What this means is that President Buhari had to wait to come into office and learn about all the inner things that they had done so that he can build on the processes. The government he inherited was horribly disjointed, it was broken.”

I don’t know how the presidential spokesman would feel after he might have had time to reflect on this clownish extenuation of an outright signal failure of the Buhari government. The implication of Shehu’s peculiar rationalisation is, no less, the attribution of omniscience and omnipresence to the former President Jonathan (who while in retirement was still able to determine the fate and destiny of his successor) corresponding to the abject helplessness of the incumbent president to own its tenure and stewardship. And since Jonathan has been designated with the unique power to determine Buhari’s failures, the corollary is that he is equally invested with the power to enable the successes of the Buhari regime-if any. To be fair to Shehu, he was just toeing the escapist path charted by his principals. You will recall the laughter that greeted the concluding remarks of Osinbajo at the vice presidential debate when-as tendentious, he had to apologise for the failure of their administration with, you guess right, the 16 years of PDP!

Earlier in the week, President Buhari had an interview with the Arise Television network (he would not consent to a live interview-for obvious reasons) that was remarkably characterised with incoherence, absent mindedness and falsehood. Against the background of the fixation with the Jonathan government, one of the lines that struck most was the proprietary claim he staked to the transformation of the agricultural sector, which, according to the president, is attested in the attainment of food security and near zero importation of Nigeria’s staple diet, rice. One of the precursors to sustained economic development is continuity of inherited developmental projects and policies and so buhari could legitimately take credit for the conclusion of whatever projects he inherited from his predecessor. What is questionable is the penchant of this government to lay exclusive franchise to inherited projects to which it has little or no contribution.

Here is the testimony of the President of the World Food Prize Foundation, Mr Kenneth Quinn, on the occasion of investing former Nigerian Minister of Agriculture, Akinwunmi Adesina, with the World Food Security Prize award “Although, Adesina is now President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), his breakthrough achievements as Minister of agriculture of Nigeria also helped him win the prize… As Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture from 2011 to 2015, Adesina successfully transformed his country’s agriculture sector through bold reforms… he introduced the E-Wallet system which broke the back of the corrupt elements that had controlled the fertilizer distribution system for 40 years…The reforms he implemented increased food production by 21 million metric tonnes and attracted 5.6 billion dollars in private sector investments, thus earning him the reputation as the ‘Farmer’s Minister…Mr. Quinn said the bold reforms included creating programmes to make Nigeria self-sufficient in rice production, and to make cassava become a major cash crop”.

The above was the asset (in the Agricultural sector) that this government inherited on assumption of office in 2015 and the last time I checked, the personality who bore this testimony was neither a Nigerian nor a member of the PDP. Given the crisis ridden tenure of the incumbent Minister of Agriculture, Mr Audu Ogbe, especially the self-inflicted distraction of government intervention in the Fulani herdsmen crisis, it is doubtful the minister would have had sufficient capacity left to do anything meaningful and substantial in his primary task of attending to the development of agriculture. He would most likely be remembered for the introduction and deployment of the cattle colony innovation-which totally consumed his attention.

In his typical muddled and somewhat primitive turn of mind, the president has a way of flaunting his ignorance at how modern economies work. He exhibited this dysfunction (in the Arise television parley) by attributing the uptick in agricultural harvest to the intervention of a providential abundance of rainfall in the past three harvest seasons rather than innovative policies. I have cited this personal inadequacy on account of the fact that this is not a one off gaffe, the President has repeatedly harped on this logic whenever he is minded to comment on the fortunes of the agricultural sector during his tenure. So, in the twenty first century, Nigeria has the albatross of a president who predicates agricultural development on rain-fed policies.

In the same television appearance, the president exclaimed, in righteous indignation, how, in the 16 years of stewardship, the PDP recorded zero achievement in infrastructural development including road construction and referred his interviewers to the Power, Works and Housing Minister, Babatunde Fashola for corroboration. Partly on account of phobia for flying I frequently ply the road from Lagos to Abuja with stop-over at home in Ekiti. The journey goes through Lagos-Ibadan-Ilesha-Ekiti-Kabba-Okene-Lokoja-Abuja. When I moved to Abuja in 2002, the long stretch between Lokoja and Abuja was a two lane highway. In the timespan between 2002 and 2015 that road has been dualised and repeatedly improved including major works on the Gwagwalada township section; upwards of 25% of the reconstruction of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway had been accomplished; the Ibadan-Ilesha segment had undergone repeated rehabilitation; the Ilesha-Akure axis had been reconstructed.

Four years on, beyond the current modest contribution to the Lagos-Ibadan rehabilitation, the greater part of this road network has suffered neglect and degenerated palpably-not to talk of the war zone degradation of the roadway to the Apapa ports nerve centre of the Nigerian economy. So the question is Where exactly are the evidences that entitle this government to bragging rights on infrastructural development? Are they to be found in the commissioning of airports development in Port Harcourt and Abuja or the commissioning of the Abuja-Kaduna railroad? How does a President who commissioned these landmark achievements of his predecessor wake up the following day and with a straight face claim that no infrastructural development took place under the PDP administration?

In comparing the incumbent administration with the Jonathan government, the following recent remarks by the International strategic studies association, kill two birds with one stone-regarding the score marks on national security and corruption-“The insurgent groups grow stronger, and the government forces grow weaker and more beset by morale collapse. It is fair to say that the Nigerian intelligence community itself is no longer sure what groups even comprise ‘Boko Haram’, the only significant engagement which the Nigerian military leadership – up to and including the National Security Adviser, Maj.-Gen. (rtd.) Mohammed Babagana Monguno – seem to prioritise is the fight to stop the leakage of information about massive corruption, running into the equivalent of several billions of dollars.”

If the election will be free and fair, buhari will only win a few States in the North with small margin. The South East and South- South will be 80%+ for Atiku, while the South- West will be divided by but Atiku will still floor PMB. If Pain people can vote PDP to the extent they did, it will be difficult for APC even in the West they feel they are strong. There's suffering in the land and any body that they feel can rescue naija will win.

My brother is a delegate and yet they got some gift from some of the aspirants but nothing close to this falsehood you are spreading. This will be the most Free, Fair and credible primary election witnessed in Nigeria. I've been following the process.

They would be the best combination. Sending this mumummadu back home to Doura is a task we all must join hands to complete.
