Zakiman: THE PETER OBI DEBACLE
It is no longer news that the erstwhile running mate to Atiku Abubakar in 2019, Peter Obi is now a confirmed Presidential candidate of the Labour Party having unceremoniously left the PDP some months ago. A lot has gone under the bridge with an unprecedented social media campaign by his supporters coining a cliche for themselves, Obidients. From a small voice, their voices could be heard reverberating all around the country especially on the social media. They gave him a larger than life image talking anybody down who dares challenge them. They are lords of the social media and spin doctors already giving the Presidency to their master. Any kind of argument against their movement was seen by some them as sacrilege.
While some of them see it as the turn of the South East to be in Aso rock, to some, it's a Chriatian agenda. This went on for as long as he strode the land talking economics like a lecturer in an auditorium. From his body language, one could tell he knows he won't be President. He however, enjoys the attention and love he is getting wherever he goes ( who wouldn't?), until a bombshell dropped. His own homeboy and governor, Charles Soludo told the whole world in a long epistle what he thought of him and clearly told him what some of us already knew, that Mr Obi, you know you won't be President. This expectedly, caused an uproar amongst the die hard fans of his. All manner of names were hurled at Soludo. But the subject himself did not seem irked because he knows the truth has been told. They recently met at a church programme, shook hands and embraced to the amazement of the people present. Such is the the knowledge of the truth, even though it hurts, but it saves a lot of pain.
The argument that Obi is a Christian candidate is the most irritating. The PDP has handed the ticket to 2 Christian Presidency candidates before. The APC has not, and may not do so in a long time. This time around they even have 2 muslims running for Aso rock simultaneously, an act perceived by many Christians as disrespectful.
It is my opinion that from the emergence of Peter Obi, one can deduce that politics in the country has become tribalistic because the other two frontline candidates are from the other two giant tribes. Thus, those tribes are bound to support their own leaving the south south and north central to be the swing zones. This kind of political arrangement was last seen in the first republic which caused the events that led to the civil war of 1967 to 1970 culminating in the deaths of millions of people, mostly Ibos. Since then, there has been an advocacy for only 2 very strong political parties. Little wonder IBB introduced his two party system, SDP and NRC. People like IBB will know exactly the red flags of a 3 party system having fought in the war himself.
It will be a needless debate to say that Obi can be President due to clear indices and parameters for any political analyst to see. Neophytes in the political turf will argue unnecessarily though but that is not the essence of this write up. If the PDP loses this election, the South East will be on a long run, and this is possible but not probable because most Eastern votes may go to Obi thereby weakening the stronghold of the PDP. Albeit that is not completely correct now because the PDP has only 2 states (Enugu and Abia), while the APC has 2 (Ebonyi and Imo) and APGA 1 (Anambra). If the APC wins, they will surely return the ticket to the north, keeping out the SE for another long spell. But if the PDP wins, they won't have any choice than to take the ticket to the SE having taken it to the SW, NW, SS and NE as it were. Obi should know this if he is not blinded by his fans. The truth and hard fact is, Obi is an albatross to the SE in the present circumstances and anybody can see that without prejudice. Therefore, the SE must agree with Soludo and do the right and proper thing for their future.
Zakiman 26. 11. 2022 It will be okay if Atiku wins but bad for Obi to contest ba? Empty analysis. |

If BAT where to come from another part of the country, you people would have torn him into shred. This is man we all know is having health challenge and you are here trying to justify what he did. He can still wave to the crowd by holding the rail with one hand. The issue here is that this is beyond you young man and you will never understand. |

thebosstrevor1: Peter obi claim that he is a wealth creator but most of his businessmen from his state are all living in Lagos or in China
How come most of Anambra's entrepreneurs aren't living in the state
from my little understanding of immigration
People migrate from poor places to rich places in search of opportunities
so in simple English, people from Anambra state moved from the state to Lagos in search of opportunities
if peter obi was a wealth creator in Anambra state, then why are people leaving to lagos? I always knew you were dumb, but never knew you were this empty. Seeing a post like this from you gives further credence to my thoughts your personality. |

BAT might be sick but don't be surprised that he may outlive Shitema. I had an uncle who died sometime early this year who has been sick for over 18years year going from one admission to the other, who outlived his elder brother who was heathier looking and nobody thought was going to die 6years before him. Such is life. BAT's life is in his makers hand. |

Comparing Nigeria to China and India in football. Let's go Nigeria has players like Osimhen, Ndidi, Iwobi, Iheanacho, Chukwueze, Awoniyi, Bassey, Aribo, Dennis, Onuachu, Simon, Sadiq, Lookman, e.t.c. That's at least ten players all playing for high profile clubs in high profile leagues. Can we repeat the same for India and China?
Nigeria is ranked 32nd amongst footballing nations. India and China by comparison is ranked 106th and 79th out of 211 nations. So yeah, they're not role models when it comes to footballing ability. You would expect everyone who knows football to know that.
Quota System education mad sha. Religion, Tribe and Insha Allah, that's all. Every other thing, zero!
Congrats to Osimhen today though. You went too far to lecture that slow poke who couldn't win an ordinary primaries in his constituency. |
