http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/fayoses-white-paper-failed-desperation.html The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has described Monday’s White Paper on the probe panel report on former Governor Kayode Fayemi’s administration as a desperate bid by Governor Ayodele Fayose to embarrass the former governor. It described Fayose’s action as a failed desperation that “cannot stand the test of judicial scrutiny in both form and content”. Fayose had set up a judicial commission of enquiry to probe Fayemi’s administration notably to unravel how Fayemi allegedly embezzled N852m SUBEB cash loan obtained from Access Bank. Fayemi kicked against the composition of the panel in court, sitting partisanship of members who were allegedly PDP members and some civil servants that served under Fayose’s authority, which made their membership suspect to a fair hearing. The Access Bank appeared before the panel to exonerate Fayemi, explaining that Fayemi never stole that but that it (the bank) took back the loan to its vault when the state government failed to firm up agreement on loan repayment. Nevertheless, the panel turned in its verdict holding Fayemi culpable and, subsequently, Fayose raised a panel to come up with a White Paper, which yesterday banned Fayemi and his Commissioner of Finance, Dapo Kolawole, from holding public offices for 10 years. But in a reaction by the Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, the party described both the panel and White Paper as a kangaroo stunt to nail Fayemi, saying the verdict would not stand in the face of illegality that went into the exercise. Olatunbosun described Fayose as “a man who cannot survive in a society where the law works”, regretting that even lawyers in his government failed to teach him some basic tenets of how law works in placing ban on Nigerian citizens to hold public office. Olatunbosun said: “All Nigerians know that Fayose is recklessly lawless and cannot survive in societies where the law works. “His so-called White Paper is not only laughable but also a disgrace to all Ekiti people home and abroad with the way that Fayose has taken ignorance, vendetta and debauchery to a ridiculous level because we knew all along that this is what Fayose wanted to do. “We had expected his Attorney General, if he knows his onions, to have advised him that only a competent court of law can bar Nigerians from holding public office under the Nigerian Constitution. “A situation where Fayose assembled PDP members and pliable civil servants as a panel with a strict directive to indict Fayemi at all costs and thereafter issue a White Paper banning him from holding public office cannot hold water in a society where the law works. “With the way he is conducting himself desperately to stop Fayemi from holding public office, we are convinced that Fayose is seriously going through a political haemorrhage and therefore his resorting to political desperation and unconstitutional means to nail our leader and a serving Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by any means possible. “Neither Fayose nor Ekiti State Government has the power to bar or prevent Dr Fayemi or any other citizen from holding public office but a competent court of law. Such wishful thinking cannot stand judicial scrutiny and we advert Fayose and his pitiable undertakers to read the Supreme Court judgment and Atiku Abubakar in similar matter.” APC spokesman said that by his “so-called White Paper that cannot over-rule the Supreme Court judgment as a precedent, Fayose has demonstrated recklessness, lawlessness and display of executive rascality arising from his ignorance of the law, constitution and total disregard for the rule of law”. He added: “It is now glaring that despite Fayose’s empty boasts daily that Dr. Fayemi is a paperweight politician who is not popular at home , the governor’s latest action has proved that the reverse is the case, as this barbaric action to halt the political career of a shining Ekiti star has shown that Fayemi is in league of nightmare Fayose has to contend with. “It is an irony that Fayose who is supposed to be banned from holding public office because of the plethora of criminal and financial misappropriation cases hanging on his neck is the one unilaterally banning somebody who held public office as governor without any blemish and is currently holding that of a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and has performed excellently well as shown by the ‘Award of Public Excellence’ trophy bestowed on him by credible corporate organisations. “We expect someone occupying such an exalted position of a governor like Fayose to be properly briefed and educated on the limitations of his powers as the head of the executive arm of government primarily to formulate policy and implement laws rather than interpreting the law and worst still, assuming the position of a judge in a matter involving him as a party. “We are not going to lose any sleep over a biased political report by a panel of PDP members set up by a PDP governor for the purpose of framing up our leader as a way of settling political scores. “This is executive recklessness and political rascality taken too far by Fayose and his kangaroo panel. We wonder where he got the power to bar a leading member of the opposition in a democracy. “We wish to assure our party members and the good people of Ekiti State that the so-called White Paper recommendation by Fayose’s kangaroo panel is not worth more than the paper on which it is written and this shall be challenged in a court of law and we are confident that this shall be quashed because there is no legal precedent or basis for it in the history of our country. “We also plead with Nigerians to bear with Ekiti people in this moment of our governor’s lawlessness that has negative implication for the integrity of Ekiti people in choosing their leader. “We also wish to remind Fayose that his immunity will expire in October and must be prepared to resume trials on his many criminal cases, including those pending in various courts.”

http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/benue-killings-fulani-herdsmen-have.html The General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has claimed that Fulani herdsmen have sponsors. This was contained in his sermon preached on Sunday, 14th January 2018. In the video, an evidently angry Suleman spoke about the killings in Benue state and the federal government’s nonchalant attitude to the crisis. “When something happens once, it can be termed an accident. When it happens twice, it can be seen as a coincidence. “When it happens thrice, it is a program. When it happens a fourth time, it is an agenda. It happens a fifth time, it definitely has sponsors,” he said. The cleric ended the sermon by leading his church members in a series of violent prayers against the sponsors of the Benue killings.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/fani-kayode-slams-cnn-over-herdsmen.html A former aviation minister, Femi Fani Kayode has described CNN’s report on Fulani herdsmen attack as fake news. Fani Kayode said thee CNN report classifying herdsmen attack as farmers’ and herdsmen’ clash over piece of land was false and shallow. He queried why a case of ethnic cleansing could be reported as such on the news platform. On his twitter page, he wrote “Amazed about how shallow and uninformed @CNN’s report on the Fulani herdsmen was this morning. “To reduce cases of ethnic cleansing and genocide to mere “clashes between farmers and herdsmen” and to say that the matter is only about land is dishonest and disingenious. Fake news!”

http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/why-i-must-go-to-heaven-gov-ikpeazu.html Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, says although being a governor is good, his earnest desire is to go to heaven when Jesus Christ comes again. The governor stated that going to heaven was more important to him than anything on earth, adding that he did not mind losing everything but his soul must meet with his maker on the last day. Ikpeazu spoke at the 2018 edition of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church Eastern Nigerian Union Conference on prayer, fasting and evangelism on Sunday in Aba. “You can have all kinds of problems. The President, SDA, West Central Africa Division, Pastor Elie Weick-Dido said the church was preparing to reach out to the unbelievers with God’s word in preparation for the imminent return of Jesus Christ to take Christians home. He stressed that things would not get better in the world again and urged Christians to brace up and be more committed to God’s works to quicken the return of the Lord. The President, Eastern Nigeria Union Conference (ENUC), Pastor Bassey Udoh said the programme was aimed at empowering its members for evangelism. http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/2019-i-have-not-withdrawn-from.html The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, yesterday insisted that he has not withdrawn from the 2019 presidential race in spite of the fact that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had zoned the ticket to the North. Fayose said he decided to soft-pedal on his campaign because of the July 14, 2018 Ekiti governorship poll, saying the campaign will begin to gain traction after the state election. The governor added that he would repeat a resounding victory against Dr Kayode Fayemi if he is picked as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he is not threatened by his rumoured ambition. On the agitations of some PDP aggrieved aspirants that Fayose should be prevented from interfering with the primary, the governor assured that the state has no role to play in the shadow election, saying it remains the prerogative of the Chief Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee. Some aggrieved PDP aspirants like; former Minister of Works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, Senator Biodun Olujimi , Amb Dare Bejide Owoseeni Ajayi, had at a joint press conference on Monday advised Secondus to checkmate Fayose and ensure that credible primary is conducted in Ekiti. Speaking during an interactive session with teachers in public primary and secondary schools at the government house in Ado Ekiti, Fayose said: “I am still in the presidential race I am only waiting for the time Ekiti governorship election will hold so I can have the time. Though, I am making contacts, I am reaching out to the people that matter across the country”. On the primary election in Ekiti, Fayose said: “I have no role to play, only the NWC will present the delegate lists for them to elect the candidate, so I won’t interfere despite my support for Prof Kolapo Olusola. “I have no regret supporting Olusola , if it were those people I had supported, they won’t be abusing me. But they remain our brothers and sister and we are going to put our house in order at the right time so that we can be on the same page”, Fayose added. Addressing the teachers, Fayose appealed to them to support Olusola the way they did to him in June 21, 2014 governorship election , where he defeated Dr Kayode Fayemi. He promised not to owe the teachers a dime at the expiration of his tenure on October 15, 2018, saying 1000 teachers will begin to benefit certain financial benefits from him commencing from the end of this month to give them a sense of belonging in his government.. “Don’t vote for those that will come here and sack you. When they sacked your colleagues in Kaduna State, an APC leader in Ekiti said it was a right step in the right direction and I believe such person is not good for Ekiti teachers. “Prof Olusola is a man of integrity, very hardworking and dependable, he won’t betray you. He will protect your interests and I want you to support him”, he said. Fayose added that all the outstanding salaries, allowances, bonuses and pensions shall be paid before he finally bows out as a governor.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/trump-allegedly-calls-africa-shithole.html President Donald Trump has allegedly questioned why the US would want to have immigrants from Haiti and African nations, referring to some as “shithole countries”. This is contained in a new Reuters report, weeks after alleged similar comment by Trump triggered outrage. In December, New York Times reported that Trump, in reaction to the rising number of migrants in the US, said “Nigerians never return to their huts after seeing America and Haitian immigrants to the United States all have AIDS”. Trump’s latest remarks allegedly made in the White House, came as Democratic Senator Dick Durbin and Republican Senator Lindsey Graham briefed the president on a newly drafted immigration bill being touted by a bipartisan group of senators. The lawmakers were describing how certain immigration programs operate, including one to give safe haven in the United States to people from countries suffering from natural disasters or civil strife. Reuters quoted one of the sources who was briefed on the conversation said that Trump said, “Why do we want all these people from Africa here? “They’re shithole countries…We should have more people from Norway.” The second source familiar with the conversation, said Trump, who has vowed to clamp down on illegal immigration, also questioned the need for Haitians in the United States. Many Democrats and some Republican lawmakers slammed the president for his remarks. Republican U.S. Representative Mia Love, a daughter of Haitian immigrants, said the comments were “unkind, divisive, elitist, and fly in the face of our nation’s values”. Love called on Trump to apologise to the American people and to the countries he denigrated. Another Republican Representative, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who was born in Cuba and whose south Florida district includes many Haitian immigrants, said: “Language like that shouldn’t be heard in locker rooms and it shouldn’t be heard in the White House.” Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, a frequent Trump critic, said the president’s comment “smacks of blatant racism, the most odious and insidious racism masquerading poorly as immigration policy.” In an apparent response to his critics, Trump took to Twitter late on Thursday night. Trump tweeted: “The Democrats seem intent on having people and drugs pour into our country from the Southern Border, risking thousands of lives in the process. “It is my duty to protect the lives and safety of all Americans. We must build a Great Wall, think Merit and end Lottery & Chain. USA!” The programme that was being discussed at the White House is called Temporary Protected Status. Meanwhile, the Trump administration decided to end the status for immigrants from Haiti and Nicaragua. It gave the approximately 59,000 Haitian immigrants who had been granted the status until July 2019 to return home or legalise their presence in the U.S. Nicaraguans were given until January 2019. On Monday, Trump moved to end the status for immigrants from El Salvador, which could result in 200,000 Salvadorans legally in the United States being deported, beginning in September of 2019.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/no-restructuring-no-nigeria-fani-kayode.html Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, on Thursday challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to either allow the restructuring of Nigeria or have the masses do it by force. He spoke at a summit, ‘Handshake Across the Niger’ organized by Nzuko Umunna in collaboration with Ohanaeze Ndigbo. DAILY POST reports that the event was attended by leaders from the South-East, South-West, South-South and the Middle Belt. The outspoken Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, whose speech generated intermittent applause from participants at the event, lambasted the Federal Government for quickly labeling IPOB members as terrorists, but failing to do so against herdsmen who had brought sorrow to the door step of many Nigerians. “This is a great gathering; long over-due, should have happened many years ago and is the beginning of good things. We must focus on the issues and stop dragging and trying to be politically correct. “In this nation today, there are slaves and there are masters; unfortunately for us, those that see themselves as masters for one reason or the other, see the rest of us as slaves. One thing we must do is to come together, because we have never been slaves, we are not slaves and can never be slaves. “The suffering of the people of the South-East is too much; it is something that we, the rest of the people of Nigeria, have to apologize to you for; you lost almost 2 million people during the civil war, these included over 1 million children.” He also added that several Igbo military officers were also killed, followed by that of Fajuyi and Aguiyi Ironsi. He added, “after that, year after year, they are still killing, slaughtering Igbos and other southerners, as well as the middle Belt. “I am glad Governor Jang is here; he has spoken so well; their people have suffered so much, if not more than the South-East, because everything has been taken away from them; their identity, their land, and they are still being killed. “Yesterday was Benue, today it is Taraba. Let me say this, what has happened in the South-East in the last one year, with regards to the IPOB is so reprehensible; it is unacceptable; it s archaic; and as I speak with you today, I restate that I’m a friend to Nnamdi Kanu and I will never forget him; “I am telling Buhari and the military today; tell us what has happened to him; if you have killed him, tell us, if you have buried him tell us. “We are not afraid, we have been killed before, they are still killing us; Abiola was killed, his wife was killed, many have been jailed, all along. “But let me say this, the time of reckoning has finally arrived; once the strength of the Igbos and the strength of the Yorubas have come together, the time of reckoning has arrived. “We declare here today that the Federal Government should ban the Miyeti Allah and declare them as terrorists. The Government should recognize the right of the people of the South-East, South-South and the Middle Belt. As long as we stand together, nothing can stop us. “The blood we are shedding has attracted God’s wrath upon Nigeria. Those doing this if you think they will change, they won’t change. But let me say this, the time for that change has already come. “I’m so proud of the organizers, I’m so proud of our leaders, Chief Olu Falae is here; I’m so proud of Adebanjo, these are strong men, they are living to see the beginning of the end to this oppression.” He equally touched on the recent encounter between business mogul, Innocent Chukwuma, the Chief Executive Officer of Innoson Motors, accusing the current Federal Government of trying to crush Igbo businessmen. “They are facing all these simply because they come from the South-East, all these will end from today; we have no fear; they can kill us, they have killed our wives and children before. “We are ready to do it by force; if there will be no restructuring, let there be no Nigeria”, he vowed.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/el-zakzaky-may-die-in-detention-shites.html The Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, yesterday, raised the alarm that their leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El Zakzaky, who had been held in detention for over two years, may die in government custody. Addressing a press conference in Kaduna, Chairman of the Resource Forum of the IMN, Prof. Abdullahi Danladi, said a recent visit by family members of the detained leader indicated that his health had taken a dive for the worse. According to him, the detained leader’s wife, who is also being held by government, has bullets lodged in her body that had not been extracted. He said: “Following a rare visit to our leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, it was discovered that the health situation of the Sheikh has taken a nosedive for the worse. “He had suffered what turned out to be a stroke but the authorities illegally detaining him had kept a blind eye to his dire situation. “It emerged that his health condition suffered severe knocks in the past week, such that he was critically ill and was in urgent need of the best medical attention possible but Buhari administration is negligent about it. “He suffered slurred speech, weakness of the right side of the upper limb and general weakness of both lower limbs and, consequently, has been unable to walk or even stand for the past one week. The Sheikh is also known to be hypertensive for more than 10 years. “As we focus our attention on the deteriorating health of Sheikh Zakzaky we are not oblivious of the medical condition of his wife, Malama Zeenah Ibrahim. For reasons best known to the State Security Service, some of the bullets lodged in her body during the brutal attack of December 14, 2015, have not been extracted up till now.”

http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/wike-liar-don-wani-was-his-associate-apc.html The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, on Tuesday branded the State Governor, Nyesom Wike a liar over his claims on cult activities in the state. Rivers APC said the governor, in his broadcast “merely compiled names of cult groups opposed to his own gang of killers, names of his hit-men known to have fallen out with him, then some APC members and is asking for their arrests.” Chairman of the party in the state, Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, who made the remark, claimed that the late kidnapper and former militant, Don Wani was Wike’s associate. In a statement sent to DAILY POST, Ikanya said Wike released list of alleged cultists in the state shortly after Wani was killed in a bid to tamper with investigation of the late kidnapper, who is his, Wike’s, ally. Ikanya alleged that Wike was aware of the fact that the death of Wani will expose their previous illicit transactions. The statement reads, “The attention of the Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has been drawn to the broadcast by Gov. Nyesom Wike in which all forms of half-truths and sometimes outright lies were pushed into public space. “While some of the lies may be ignored at the moment and dealt with at a later date, however, it is manifestly important to immediately prevent unsuspecting members of the public, critical stakeholders and particularly security agencies from being hoodwinked by a frivolous list of supposed cultists and kidnappers contained in the governor’s broadcast. “The truth has come out. Gov. Wike merely compiled names of cult groups opposed to his own gang of killers, names of his hit-men known to have fallen out with him, then some APC members and is asking for their arrests. “Since the broadcast by Gov. Wike, many are still asking a plethora of questions. Why did the governor know those persons as criminals as he claimed and never did anything since he came into office over 2 years ago? Why did he not make the names of those individuals available to security agents for arrest, investigation and prosecution? “Why were those names kept until Don Wani was killed before he made them public in less than 48 hours after? Were those names given to him by security agencies? Indeed, how were those names generated; where they generated in Government House Port Harcourt or by the police? “The bravest attempts to answer the aforementioned questions simply confirm the fact that Gov. Wike merely want to muddle up investigations by security agents following the killing of his associate, Don Wani. The governor very well knows that if Don Wani and his boys could be tracked and killed in faraway Enugu, then information from his mobile call logs, text messages, bank accounts, etc. will likely reveal a lot which may incriminate him or his party leaders who freely played host to and/or appeared in photographs with Don Wani at various times in the past. “The APC calls on Rivers people, Nigerians and security agencies to look beyond the names made up of either opponents or his boys that have fallen out with him. Security agents should rely on names independently generated by the various security services over time and clamp down on them accordingly. “Again we ask: if Gov. Wike had names of criminals since he became governor over 2 years ago, why did he have to wait until Don Wani met his waterloo before he made such names public?”

http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/group-endorses-buhari-masari-for-2019.html The Katsina State chapter of Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) has declared support for the re-election of the President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State in 2019. Alhaji Ibrahim Kallah, the Coordinator of the group in the state, made the declaration at a press conference on Sunday. Kallah said that the decision was in recognition of the successes recorded in the fight against corruption, boost in agriculture, amongst others by the Federal and Katsina State Governments under the All Progressives Congress, APC. “It is a fact that the present administration had recorded tremendous successes in security without which nothing can be achieved. “There is the need to recognise the zeal of the Buhari administration particularly in the security sector especially the recovery of 14 local government areas that were previously under Boko Haram control in the Northeast. “Rebuilding lives of the millions of people displaced by the insurgents by returning them back home withing two years is laudable,” he said. “Ensuring continued peace in the Niger Delta through the amnesty programme for ex-militants is also a good step for ensuring security in the region. He noted that maximum support of the Nigerian military had contributed towards the successes recorded in the security sector. “In Katsina state, the issue of cattle rustling has become a thing of the past sequel to the introduction of amnesty programme. “Hundreds of cattle rustlers surrendered their weapons in the state while over 480 weapons were destroyed. “Nigerians should support the re-election of Buhari and Masari in 2019 in respect to all successes recorded”, he said.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/abuja-kaduna-railway-el-rufai-fires.html The Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has replied the Senator representing Bayelsa east, Senator Ben Murray Bruce over his recent comment on who should be given credit for the Abuja-Kaduna railway. President Muhammadu Buhari recently commissioned ten new coaches and two locomotives in Rigasa, Kaduna State. Bruce had told el-Rufai, that his (El-Rufai’s) hatred for late former President, Musa Ya’Adua has clouded his judgment on who initiated the Abuja-Kaduna railway. The lawmaker said this in response to the governor’s reaction to his first tweet that the immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan should be honoured for the success of the railway. He wrote, “Your dislike of the late Yar’adua may have clouded your judgment. I made no mention of the ‘Abuja light railway’. “My tweet referred to the Abuja-Kaduna railway which IS a product of the Jonathan administration. I am happy to publicly debate this with you.” El-Rufai while reacting to Bruce’s tweet said, “Facts cannot be debated. Opinions are free. While the Obasanjo administration was conceiving the rail modernization programme, Sen Ben-Bruce was organizing beauty contests and Jonathan was a deputy governor. I am not cluelessly common-sensical!”

http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/no-plan-to-increase-fuel-price-to-n180.html The federal government has denied plans to increase price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly called petrol to a minimum price of N180 This was contained in a statement issued by Idang Alibi, Director of Press, Ministry of Petroleum Resources. Idang said thee Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu during the Joint Senate and House of Representatives Committee hearing on fuel scarcity never mentioned the need to increase price of petrol as the matter was still being deliberated on. The statement read: “Our attention has been drawn to publications making rounds on traditional & social media alleging that the HMSPR Dr. @IbeKachikwu dropped a hint of an impending fuel price increase during the Joint Senate and House of Representatives Committee hearing on fuel scarcity in Nigeria. “The Ministry of Petroleum Resources would like to categorically state that the Honorable Minister of State, Petroleum Resources all through his presentations at the hearing, neither mentioned nor insinuated the need or plans by the FG to increase the current pump price of PMS. “It would be expedient to note that that the Presidency has set up a special committee to identify the immediate and remote causes of the fuel scarcity with a view to finding both immediate and long lasting solutions to the challenge. “The Committee has been in rounds of deliberations in the past few days and these discussions are still ongoing. The final decisions and recommendations from the Committee would be passed on to the President and Commander-In-Chief for approval. “The general public and indeed stakeholders in the Oil and Gas sector are by this statement urged to disregard any such report of a price increase. “Further information and communiqué on the resolutions would be communicated as and when due.”

http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/northern-christians-blow-hot-over.html Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Northern Nigeria, Rev. Yakubu Pam, has called on the Nigerian Government to investigate the killing of District Head of Numana kingdom, Dr. Gambo Makama, his wife and two others. CAN also demanded probe of murder of dozens of persons in Kaduna and Benue States on New year day. Pam, in a press statement on Wednesday, condemned the unabated killing of Christians in the north and urged government to urgently fish out perpetrators of the brutal acts. “The attacks on Gwantu, Headquarters of Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna state where the District head (chief of Numana kingdom) Dr Gambo Makama, his wife and two other youths were gruesomely murdered on new year day is condemnable and worrisome. “Also, we are worried of the attacks in Guma and Logo local government areas of Benue state where over 50 people were murdered in cold blood on same New Year day. This is equally disturbing and worrisome to us. “CAN is not only condemning in these mayhem and carnage, but is calling for the immediate arrests and prosecution of all perpetrators of these heinous crimes. “We are worried that the reluctance of the government in handling state security is causing more harm than good. If proactive measures have been taking before now, crime in the society would have been stamped out.” Pam, however, called for calm in both communities where the attacks were carried out. He urged government to step up security in the affected communities as well as the entire country to forestall future killings. “We are assuring government of the church support. The church demands state protection to our members nationwide. “Aware of the repercussions of any reprisals, church leaders are advised to calm their members and report threats to security to the law enforcement agencies as soon as possible. “We assure that the church will not keep quite but continue to the occasion. We will not take it kindly again should this continue,” the cleric warned.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/nigerians-react-to-tunde-bakares.html Nigerians have reacted to the announcement by founder of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, that he’ll be running for president based on a directive from God. Recall that while speaking to his congregation during the New Year’s Eve service at the Latter Rain Assembly in the Ogba area of Lagos State on Monday, January 1, 2018, the popular televangelist revealed that God wants him to run despite his plan to quit politics for good. Even though he wasn’t specific about whether he would be running during the 2019 presidential elections, he urged the congregation to pray for him and promised to update them. Pastor Bakare was notably picked as the running mate of current president, Muhammadu Buhari, when he contested on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) during the 2011 presidential election which he lost to former president, Goodluck Jonathan. Read below the reaction of some Nigerians on social media to his declaration: @freshestgist: “For heaven’s sake, why blast Pastor Bakare for airing his mind? He has every right to run for any political office” @halafbi: “God just told me not to vote for “Tunde Bakare” come 2019. Since they can’t stop using God’s name to lie, we will feed them with the same piece of cake they made for us to eat …nonsense” @UC_Wiz: “God has asked tunde bakare to run for president. God has told Mbaka that Dankwambo will be president….but for me, God has asked me to leave this country. And I will. Tunde run, Dankwambo run, Buhari run, while I run away” @Segunvc: “God has been brought in again as countdown to the 2018 general elections begin in Nigeria. Fiery Lagos pastor, Tunde Bakare has said that he has received God’s directive to contest for 2019 presidential election.” @Ali_McHenri: “Pastor Tunde Bakare. If God said you should run for President…. No wahala! If you go on to run for the office….. No wahala! If you win….. No wahala! But if you go there and behave like Bu… , Touch not my anointed’ won’t save you. We go drag you!” @Sksolakuti “God has asked me to run for the presidency – Pastor Tunde Bakare @tksilicon: “Tunde Bakare said God asked him to run for presidency. Meaning that Buhari isn’t delivering else we would have been praying for more grace. But Buhari has taken the grace of God for granted. Mbaka has pitched tent with Dankwanbo. All these are making things easier for Atiku. @lexxy442: “Pastor Tunde Bakare said God told him to run to be Nigeria’s President in the same 2019 that Father Mbaka said God told him Dankwambo will be President. How man ‘gods’ are speaking to them? Please let’s stop dropping God’s name & differentiate desire from vision.” @deapostlew2: “Pastor Tunde Bakare said that God told him to run for President. He didn’t say that God told him that he will be President. Its okay to run for President. Do the Aftermaths!! @sanywriter1: “It’s only in Nigeria that a Tunde BAkare needs your prayer to achieve his political aim after having claimed to have heard God’s word of encouragement to contest for president. Manipulation of religion.” @sklyadeniyi: “I wish God can slap people lying on His name – Tunde Bakare” @Maazi_Dan “Oh for God’s sake! Pastor Tunde Bakare and his people should not turn the new 2018 into an old year, when today is just 2nd January. PMB tried to abort our Happy New Year yesterday and failed, Oga Pastor is trying but will fail. HAPPY NEW YEAR NIGERIANS. Don’t mind them.”

http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/apc-ambode-will-lose-in-2019-pdp.html The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said on Tuesday it will shock the All Progressives Congress, APC, by winning the governorship election in Lagos in 2019. PDP Publicity Secretary in the state, Taofeek Gani, said the party had mapped out strategies to unseat the ruling party, adding “with the new spirit in PDP in Lagos, we are sure of winning in 2019’’. He described the performance of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as “dismal’’, claiming that “Lagosians are eagerly waiting for the PDP to take over and deliver purposeful leadership’’. “We will shock the APC in 2019, take my words, we already have lots of novel ideas to wrestle them from power. “For now, we will keep our strategies sealed, when the game starts, we will unleash them. “Ambode has failed in purposeful governance, what we see is propaganda and project planet, the people desire change, which is PDP,” Gani told NAN. According to him, the party has successfully resolved its internal crisis and is working assiduously to ensure a successful primary in the state. Gani described recent media report on the defection of 1500 PDP members to the APC in the state as mere propaganda. “It is laughable to hear that 1500 PDP members decamped to APC in Oshodi, this is outrageous propaganda. “I am from Oshodi-Isolo, the area remains the strongest nest of PDP, we won all elective offices in the 2015 general elections, in spite the presence of the APC state chairman in the area,” he said.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/01/iran-attacks-president-trump.html US President Donald Trump on Tuesday came under fire from Iran. Iranian FM spokesman Ghasemi advised him to stop meddling in its domestic affairs. Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Bahram Ghasemi said this in reaction to Trump’s tweets about Iran in which he called the nation ‘hungry for food’. Ghasemi said: “The completely contradictory and haphazard stances adopted by Donald Trump against the Iranian people are nothing new.” “He recently called Iranians a ‘terrorist nation’ and provoked their anger by using a fabricated name for the Persian Gulf. “And now under the façade of compassion for them, he is addressing this culturally-rich nation with a thousand-year-old civilization with offensive words. ”There is no doubt that the great and cultivated Iranian community across the world will have reactions to Trump’s insults.” Ghasemi further advised Trump to deal with his own country’s internal issues instead of wasting his time on posting futile and offensive tweets about other nations. “Trump would better deal with the daily murders of dozens of US citizens in mass shootings, the existence of millions of homeless and hungry in his own country. “He should take lessons from the ancient Iranian morality code of good deeds and good words and incorporate them in his own behaviour,” he added.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/12/nscdc-seals-20-petrol-stations-in-kogi.html Kogi State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has warned petroleum marketers in the state against hoarding and selling of petrol above official Government regulated price. State Commandant of NSCDC Mr. Obiyo Everestus gave the warning during an interview with DAILY POST on Friday. Obiyo recalled that just last week, the command sealed over 20 filling stations for selling above government approved pump price of N145 per litre. He noted that despite series of warning by the Command, some marketers still hoard the product to create another artificial scarcity, thereby inflicting unnecessary pains on the masses. The commandant warned that erring petrol stations would be made to face the full wrath of law, as he would not condone any act that would bring untold hardship to the public. He said, “All the petrol stations owners in the state are hereby implored to monitor their staff very well, especially the attendants, as the command would not entertain any excuse for any sharp practice arising from the sales of the product”. Everestus further disclosed that the command has ordered the deployment of more officers to all the nook and cranny of the state to monitor the activities of oil marketers and to curb crime in the state.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/12/controversy-trails-wole-soyinkas.html Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka has been accused of being in favour of Buhari’s led government in contradiction to his criticisms during Goodluck Jonathan administration. On Friday, some Nigerian on social media wondered why the activist has been silent about failed state of economy despite several uproars. While some claim the Nobel Laureate is being biased, others say he is not under obligation to speak up. Below are some comments: @Chxta: “Given where he is coming from it is probably fair for some to criticise Wole Soyinka for not speaking up against this, failed government. However, it is important to point out that the man is 83, and has spent the last six decades fighting governments of various sorts. @demolaojo: “Wole Soyinka was constantly attacking GEJ directly when he felt he was underperforming, which was right. Not enough saying he’s talked about the economy, condemned herdsmen attack, IPOB etc. Heck, who hasn’t? Has he directly spoken out against /berated Buhari? @Isimaodeh: “Prof. Wole Soyinka isn’t obligated to criticize any Governmenr, but saying the same man who was holding press conferences to criticise the Goodluck Jonathan administration at the age of 76 to 81 from 2010 – 2015, is suddenly “too old to comment” on Politics at age 84 is stupidity. @wekky23: “On the continuous silence of Prof wole Soyinka, Pastor Tunde Bakare and co ,my conclusion is that they are cowards, that lack the courage and determination to admit their mistakes of misleading many Nigerians astray. @afrispheric: “Their loud silence is at a minimum, an implicit endorsement of the mess Buhari has made of things. Worse, it may be that something other than patriotism drove those men all along. At the end of the day, it is quite shameful, especially for someone of Wole Soyinka’s level. Others, however, urged Nigerian youths complaining to fight for their rights instead of waiting for likes of Wole Soyinka , Tunde Bakare to attack the government. @AishaYesufu: “You say President Buhari is too old to be President yet you wait on Professor Wole Soyinka to give Press conferences to hold the government accountable on your behalf. Get some liver and do something! Stop focusing on what others are doing or not doing. @Ogundamisi: “Ground Zero ‘YOOTS’ will never seize to amaze me. They are waiting on Wole Soyinka to come and help them remove their chains. Enu e le wa yen. Make una dey wait for Kongi. SMH. You can also be a Wole Soyinka, start a radical movement of your own, don’t wait for Wole. @olaosunD: “See people debating why Wole Soyinka is not criticizing Buhari. Wole Soyinka o. 83 years old. So, we have no problem abdicating the responsibility for monitoring our future to people that are not likely to be in it? @jolatankoka: “Wole Soyinka severally checked Buhari, Yar’Adua, Obasanjo, Jonathan. If he decides to be quiet now, it’s his choice – that should be respected. If he’s tired – we should applaud him. New Soyinkas should have evolved, but they are busy massaging Tinubu, Saraki, and El-Rufai’s ego. @Radicalyouthman: “If Nigerian Youths will reject the old brigade of Leaders, it is right that we also reject the old brigade of Activists. Why do we have to wait on Wole Soyinka and Femi Falana to lead protests in 2017? Why can’t we lead our own Change?
