After some useless people would be shouting UI, uni illorin and other dump sites as citadel of knowledge! How on earth can a gory eye sore be a citadel of knowledge? Ghana is taking over as the destination for tourists and places for headquarters and foreign branches of top organizations, Nigeria is being left out of the show, is not clear to them now but soon enough it would be bold and loud that everybody can see and hear!

Honestly we can't judge based on alumni. Unilag has great alumni too. People like Soyinka and Achebe who attended UI in those days cannot be the basis for today's assessment of the university, because the UI of today is not the same as the UI of those days. The UI of those days was in arguably the same level as the Oxford and Harvard of those days. Not anymore. And, even if we judged using that, there are loads of great alumni from Unilag, such as Nigeria's greatest mathematician ever, Ayodele Awojobi. And, personally, I'd choose Unilag's Law over UI. In fact, I'd choose OAU's and LASU's as well. But when it comes to medicine, UI isn't just the best in Nigeria, it is arguably the best on the continent, ranked among the top 400 medical schools in the world.

In ten years OAU was the best 5 times while UNN only came top once. You know ratings aren't static so you can pick a year and claim you're the best.

According to Webometric and most other University rating bodies, in the last decade alone, OAU was the best Nigeria University for consecutive 5 years (The first Nigerian University to achieve such feat).

We only compete against UI and maybe UNILAG not some glorified Pig pen.

I believe UI is ahead only in medical sciences which is what they are known for. I once heard that 75% of research journals from UI comes from the faculty of medicine. I'm not sure about now, but in my time UI had no accounting or business-related majors.
