Politics › Re: APC Oyo Governorship Rally Live On NTA by Olaone1: 11:55pm On Jan 17, 2015 |
Let me reveal what these politicians do to get huge crowd at these political rallies.
They start with free distribution of Ankara and money to every ward. It is however a must for recipients of the fabric to attend. It is "attend or return our Ankara and money". No story! And, we all know poor people need every freebie they can get. So, they willfully promise to attend.
In Oyo state, each local govt area has about 12 wards. So, each ward typically targets 500 people for such rallies. 500 people multiplied by 12 wards = 6000 people.
Now, multiply that by over 30 local govt areas we have in Oyo state. You have over 180,000 people.
So, it is no rocket science. And, certainly, political rallies are not representative of public opinion. And, above all, not a foolproof gauge of the direction the ever-dicey political pendulum will swing.

Bayswater: Yes, my brother. This internet/social media sh*t is very deceiving. In Oyo State where I come from, the real voters are not on twitter, facebook, nairaland, instagram, blogs etc. They don't read Punch, Sahara Reporters etc but they will rather listen to their Mogaji (Head of their family), local political leader and they mostly make decisions on what they can see and the candidate that resonates with them.
Most importantly, they don't forget. They know history, they analyse it and they make informed choices. That is what the APC does not understand. These people will come out enmasse and vote in the usual pattern, the odds do not favour the APC in Oyo State; the present day APC government in the state is seen as elitist. It is not seen as elitist; it is ELITIST. I need to know how APC will be able to record any remarkable victory in Ibadan. It is a forgone conclusion - APC, at state level, stands NO chance. They will likely cast their vote for Buhari, however. But, Ajimobi? He is a goner in Ibadan. |

maestroferddi: Agbaje can also deploy the Abraham Lincoln paradigm of gathering experience through perseverance.
I am sure your rhetoric will change when Mr Agbaje throws up a constructed a resume to the public domain.
Who doesn't know to include a vacation in the US as part of a resume? Don't mind him. He belongs to the same party that asked us to vote Ribadu as president just 4 years ago. He also needs to tell us about Ribadu's experience in politics or civil service. The same party that presented Fayemi. Maybe he was a senator too before he ruled Ekiti state. Ahhh, nah, his retort would be: "Ekiti is a small state." So cutting |

Politics › Re: Buhari Does Not Know The Difference Between "Surname" And "Other Names" (pics) by Olaone1: 6:23am On Jan 16, 2015 |
Adminisher: OP, you are the one that is uneducated. There is no thing like surname and other names syntax in very many Cultures. If you had worked with Arabs or visited many middle eastern countries you find that the whole concept of a name is very different. I know of cultures where your surname is your grand fathers' first name. I know of a former president of Nigeria whose surname is actually the name of the village he came from. One of the hallmarks of education is resistance to cultural imperialism. If you allow an Oyinbo man to define you up to the point of determining the syntax for writing your name then maybe you are permitted to be trying to correct a 72 years old former head of state who had seen more countries and cultures when je was your age than you can ever see in your life. Buhari is a Nigerian and he's contesting in Nigeria. We don't need to know about any other culture. The culture is here is Naija culture. We care NOT about Arab culture. As a Nigerian, Buhari/his assistant should know what SURNAME means. |

softwareman: Going by your thinking 27 years experience in the private sector running a chemist surpasses 27 years experience in the PUBLIC SECTOR? ! NONSENSE CANNOT GET MORE ARRANT THAN YOUR LOGIC Who cares about civil service experience when casting vote? What civil service experience did Tinubu have before he became governor? Did he not perform well? Going by your logic, Nigerians should have voted Olu Falae as president in 1999 and not Obasanjo just because of Falae's experience in civil service. Do you actually think running a business is moin moin........especially in Nigeria? Abegiiiii |

mrmetoo1: You're not going partisan but you're telling me a pharmacist is better well equipped to run a state like Lagos than someone with all that experience.
Then what's wrong with being partisan, why's that a dirty word? The fact is I feel that my candidate is more qualified than yours and I've provided my reasons for that. If I didn't have any good reasons then you can throw in being partisan. If say a zoo keeper was running as Lagos state governor against Agbaje and I'm supporting the zoo keeper just because he belongs to a party then that's being partisan.
The fact is Ambode has the necessary experience and qualifications. Then the fact that he's a Wharton graduate is very impressive to me. All these Wharton....Harvard 10-day executive programmes mean nothing abeg. |

olapluto: As a resident of Oyo state, I read your analysis and was shaking my head. PDP is pseudo-dead in Oyo state. If you go on Youtube to watch Jonathan's campaign at Mapo hall, you will see what I mean. The movers and shakers of Oyo Politics as of today were all absent. PDP in Oyo state is as good as dead. Am glad you actually did not include the PDP guber candidate in your analysis. How GEJ will fare in Oyo state...poorly. Objective analysis: 1. The votes in Oyo state can be broadly split into Ibadan, Oyo and Oke Ogun. Oyo town and Oke Ogun, including the 7 Ibarapa are most likely going to vote en masse for Buhari. Oke Ogun can be likened to Iwo in terms of religion, with a culture similar to that of the North. The fact that GEJ played religious card all through will make it hard for him to get 20% of Oke Ogun votes. Oyo and Saki axis will be for BUhari. Ibadan is the GEJ's only hope of any few votes he will get. I think GEJ will do very well to get anything above 30% of Oyo state votes. In Osun, GEJ will not get up to 20%. I really want to know, please: who's gonna win the guber race in Oyo state? And, which party do you think will win the 6 local govts in Ibadan? And the 5 less city local govts? Waiting................. |

Fake Quack foreign fools are killing people everyday, it happened to Abacha, now this innocent woman. There was an incident few weeks ago; a lady came to my office and was complaining of stomach ache, she said she just had surgery performed on her by a foolish Indian quack and she feels pains in her stomach, on opening her up We found a pair of scissors and a rubber hand glove in her belly! SMH Please Nigerians be wise. May the gentle soul of this woman rest in perfect peace Amen. You had to open her up to know that in this 21st century? And, you proudly posted that? We are talking about a gender that is naturally hypergamous. A gender that naturally marries up. We need to understand the real meaning of security and protection that women crave for in marriage. The main undertones of "security and protection" are finance -material stuff....MONEY. Being submissive is intertwined with the aforementioned as far as women are concerned. Women, naturally, don't cope well if they find themselves as providers in marriage. Not that the love is no longer there, but what makes the man the HEAD of the family is no longer there if she's the breadwinner. They just want you to be better no matter what. If a woman is a commissioner, she wants her man to be a minister/governor. This does not meant that a commissioner is poor. They just prefer it if you are ahead. It is nature. May God help any man who finds himself in this |
