There’s really nothing wrong with using AI tools, like Copilot, to check grammar and tenses—I have found them quite helpful myself. The advice I gave to the moniker was something that genuinely helped me during my school days, and the kind of information anyone who has gone through school in Canada can relate to. Another approach is to ask your program adviser—the person who keeps you guys informed about course updates and everything related to your studies—to connect you with any outgoing student who has completed the same program.

Having a rapport with someone who has already gone through your course can be incredibly useful. They can offer valuable insights on course choices and selection and potential opportunities for teaching assistantships (TA), as well as recommend professors you might consider reaching out to with a cold email.

Additionally, connecting with outgoing students can provide a clearer picture of which term would be best to start your program. If you are considering commencing in the winter term, the weather might take you off balance at first, if you are not used to it but you will adapt in no time.

IRCC now issues visitor visa duration based on discretion. It is no longer like before that everyone gets automatic up to duration of passport. Some gets that much while others shorter duration depending on the assessing IRCC officer.

A friend of mine i assisted got just one year despite having ten years passport. I think the decision would be final.

Great! Include a dedicated subheading in your letter of explanation specifically for "Previous Canada Refusal." Directly reference the officer to the concerns highlighted in their ODN notes and explain how your circumstances have changed since then. Make sure to clarify the inflows in your bank statement and guide the officer to the exact section of your IRCC portal where they can review supporting documents. Each support document should be identified with its file name before uploading, and that file name should be mentioned in your letter to make it easy for the officer to locate. Also, be sure to provide a more detailed explanation of your purpose of visit in your letter, something to show you have good understanding of the city.

For proof of funds, remember that the required amount depends on the duration of your stay, but it is highly recommended to have extra buffer cash. For example, if 50% of your funds cover your stay, have at least extra 50% or more as a cushion. This demonstrates to the officer that you are not emptying your account for the trip and that you have financial stability back home.

Thank you so much for your detailed explanation. I followed each of your points and made the necessary adjustment to my SOP and Financial Explanation Letter. I also got a letter headed letter from my HR stating its a policy within the Organization that only basic salary is listed on payslips but a list of annual entitled emolument was attached to the letter.
In fact while crafting my Financial Explanation letter, I assumed the Visa officer is a l*zy idi*t tongue and I carefully took out time to even draw out a table to reference the credits from my employer in my bank statement, so he/she can see that the bulk credit transactions they referenced in the previous refusals are all remitted from same source as my salary and carry same remittance code. (This was what I assumed the Visa Officer would be able to notice themselves)
In my SOP, I stated that me having family members in Canada is something I have no control over as they chose to settle down in Canada after graduation but I live a comfortable life in Nigeria and I am not willing to throw it away to become an illegal immigrant in Canada.

In all, I hope for a favorable outcome this time.

I applied on the 2nd of March for a visit visa.
I have 2 brothers who are Canadian citizens and Parents on a Grandparents visa.
I work full time in Abuja with a good job and have no plans of seeking asylum.
I have never been to Canada, my brothers usually come home to visit. All the deposits in my account are from my job(A Federal Govt Agency)
They have a policy of only indicating Basic salary in Payslips.
I have used this same payslip to apply for a UK visa which was granted.
Please, the gurus in the House should advise on how I can appeal.

I gave it a test myself, and you are absolutely right—it just keeps rolling and eventually stops. It does seem like there might be a system glitch. My suggestion would be to wait a bit and try again later, as these things sometimes resolve themselves. Alternatively, you could post your concern on the Express Entry thread; there’s a good chance someone who has faced a similar issue—and found a solution—will chime in with helpful advice.

I remember the system used to give both "BVN" and "NIN" as options, but now it looks like only "NIN" is available. If you don’t get responses on the thread and you need to sort this out urgently, your final option might be to visit the Alagbon CID office in person. Hopefully, though, it won’t come to that, and you will be able to resolve everything online, which would definitely save you both time and extra expenses.

You can still apply with your current passport; however, please note that IRCC will not grant your visa beyond your passport's expiry date. Additionally, CBSA officers at the airport (port of entry) will typically issue your study permit up to the passport validity date or possibly extend it to the validity date plus 90 days, but this is entirely at their discretion.

To avoid any interruptions in your studies, plan ahead for your Nigerian passport renewal, ideally not later than six months before the expiry date—so, around late winter (March/April). The Nigerian High Commission is in Ottawa, and you can either plan a trip there or utilize their contactless passport renewal option, which could be convenient given your busy academic schedule but I would prefer going there so you can build relationship and get a contact that you can call to follow up since you would need it urgently for a purpose. All relevant details can be found on their website.

According to IRCC guidelines, you should apply to extend your study permit at least 30 days before the original expiry date, but it is much safer to start the process earlier—preferably three months in advance once your new passport arrives. It is crucial not to let the current study permit expire before you apply for an extension, as this would put you out of status and require you to stop studying.

You can always reach out to the immigration office in your school if you need further clarification or call the IRCC customer care line when you are in Canada. I would have shared the number here but not sure if that is allowed on Naira land but you can goggle it.

If you presented yourself for biometrics, those information would be on your "Biometric Instruction Letter". The letter should have both UCI and application number.

Someone responded to you with an alternative on "Living in Canada Thread" about learning French towards the PR pathway and i think it makes sense. You can always still pursue the masters if that's your dream but will be at a reduced tuition fee as permanent resident. You can think about it and ultimately the decision is yours to make.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your parents being your sponsors, so you should feel confident in that arrangement. If you have some extra funds available, you can certainly support your application with additional documentation.

However, it is important to clearly explain the source of these funds in your Statement of Purpose (SOP) that you'll be submitting to your IRCC Portal account. This will help ensure there is no confusion about where the funds are coming from. Additionally, both of your parents can jointly sign a Letter of Sponsorship, which will further solidify their support for your application.

Sop Writer or anyone please I need your help on this. My uncle and my aunty sponsoring. My sponsors are very busy and some documents they like family relationship like birth certificate to give me is issue cause they are very busy people and my main sponsor at the time I applied had 23m and co sponsor 16k usd not cad actually usd as of when I calculated it, it was around 22kcad then the 23m was 22k cad I already did pay 1.5k tuition deposit. My co sponsor might have more now cause she told me she would have more this January cause she usually transfer her salary to usd most time so I don’t know I’ve not called her yet but I will. So the money part is not too much issue is the intent to return and family relationship with the sponsor please help how will I go about this? I submitted affidavit of relationship before just to help but it seems it didn’t help enough. I need help guys. My uncle and I both bare same surname my aunty got married so her name changed.

Some thoughts in addition to amnotapervert point above on finances:

The Officer was not convinced on the proof of relationship which means the affidavit alone was not sufficient for them

i. Convince your Uncle and Aunt on the need for a copy of their birth certificates to demonstrate family connections & proof of relationship. You also need to do some work in your SOP to proof the family tree that you are actually related. If birth certificate is not available, work on getting pictures per ii below.

ii. Pictures taken with your uncle & aunt (old pictures preferred). Especially pictures in academic or professional settings e.g graduation, convocation, induction, matriculation etc. would be great. However, any old pictures you have with them would also be very helpful. Finally, group family photos that include your uncle, aunt, and parents together(old pictures).

iii. Evidence of previous commitments either of them has shown you? Like past occasions they have given you cash? Receipts of transfers. You would need to find way of documenting this in an orderly way in your Statement of Purpose (SOP).

Put lot of work on your Statement of Purpose. It is a very important document that would speak for you being you wont be there to defend yourself when your application is being reviewed by IRCC. Just like an applicant present themselves for in-person interview at USA Consulate. The SOP serves same purpose for Canada study visa.

I don't think it would happen. Serving as US President for more than two terms would involve altering the constitution (22nd amendments) and would require 2/3 majority votes by both House and Senate and ratification by 3/4th of the states which would be a difficult push.

From your question, it appears you are having relocation plans, if yes, aim towards permanent residency route. Try to learn French and take the French test, this would help to swing your CRS scores. You can get more info on Canada PR thread.

They are not doing justice to the applications or simply do not want to give visas.. that’s it

It may be difficult to dissect what concerns the officer had with your application unless someone sits with you and check everything you declared but if you are patient to review it all again, you may see areas that can be improved.

My educated guess may be that the officer was not convinced about some wordings in your letter of explanation. One thing that comes to mind is demonstrate good understanding about the city you are visiting and detailed itinerary where you intend to visit apart from just staying at your friends place. I would give you an example:

It may be that you intend to visit a friend who is Canadian Citizen and resides in Edmonton. An itinerary can be drafted to say you plan visiting Elk Island National Park and wordings in respect of "exploring the rolling hills, glassy lakes which is 35 minutes east of Edmonton". Then something like" I love wildlife because it provides me with powerful images that help define the very essence of nature.....". You can then add something like "Its fun hearing the cry of a loon echoing across a lonely lake........."

I stated the above just to give you some depths about the kind of research to make regarding your intended destination city/province to strengthen your purpose of visit and tie it to something you are passionate about and intend to see. it also strengthen that vibe you are a genuine visitor and knows very well about what you intend to do. You can also plan towards a popular holiday in Canada. Don't relax too much on the fact that a Canadian citizen would be accommodating you.

Educational Background
I completed my secondary education at Victory High School, Port Harcourt, Nigeria, where the focus was on science, civic education, and creativity. I graduated in 2016. During those years, I developed a strong interest in caring for others, especially young people. I was always moved by how fragile and yet full of potential they are, and I wanted to be part of their journey toward health, confidence, and hope. That desire has stayed with me ever since.
In September 2021, I travelled to cyprus international university(North Cyprus) to study nursing, hoping to specialize in pediatric or public health nursing since there was no child and youth care program available. Unfortunately, that decision turned into one of the hardest lessons of my life. The travel agent who handled my admission misled my parents by referring to the country as “Cyprus,” without explaining that it was actually North Cyprus, a region not internationally recognized except by Turkey. My family had believed we were making the best decision for my future, but when I arrived, I realized things were not as promised and that's when I learned it was a divided country, the north which is not recognized by the world and the south which is the actual Cyprus which is recognized and part of the European Union.
Most of the lecturers were not fluent in English and often mixed Turkish during lessons, which made it difficult to understand lessons. I struggled emotionally, mentally and academically, trying to make sense of a system that was not built for international students. After a while at the university, I learned that the nursing department is not accredited and the degrees from the university are not recognized globally and only by Turkey, which was a big problem for me. Despite everything, I stayed determined to push through but it kept messing with my mental health which the university does not provide provision for, which is a key factor for a scholar. Imagine trying to keep up with a teacher who isn't fluent in English and teaching a rigorous and sensitive course which needs proper clarification for students to understand, of course it's going to be bad for scholars. But after my second semester and before my third semester, I realized it was wiser to step back and start over somewhere better. My parents agreed that I should return home, but around that same time, Nigeria was experiencing political unrest and violence due to the 2022–2023 elections. They were afraid for my safety and advised me to remain abroad until things became calm and stable again.
To make matters worse, my passport expired in June 2023, and renewing it took much longer than expected. It had to be processed at the Nigerian Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, there were delays due to high demand, limited passport making materials and logistics delay. Those months were emotionally exhausting, but it also made me patient and stronger. I used that time to reflect on what kind of education and environment I truly needed to grow. Once my new passport was ready, I finally returned home in March 2024, as reflected in my passport stamp. I will attach proof of student ID to show that I went to this university.
Coming back home was emotional for me. I felt like I had lost time and opportunity, but I also knew that life was giving me a second chance to make the right choice this time. I immediately decided to continue improving myself and enrolled in a caregiving, child and adolescence mental health course on Udemy where I learnt more about communication to mentally challenged young people, advocacy, and care for people in general, which helped me reconnect with my purpose. It reminded me why I wanted to care for people in the first place to help, to heal, and to bring comfort to those who need it most.
As I continued researching study destinations, I came across Canada again, a country I had always admired for its safety, peaceful study environment, inclusiveness, and world-class education which was built for international students. I was amazed by how Canadian colleges encourage hands-on learning and balance academic study with real-world experience. In North Cyprus, students were required to take 30 credits per semester, which felt overwhelming and rushed, while in Canada, the system allows for 15 credits per semester, giving students room to learn deeply and apply what they study. This confirmed my belief that Canada would provide the kind of education that truly changes lives.

Why I Chose Child and Youth Care
My interest in caring for others started in high school. I've always enjoyed helping people by listening to their challenges and helping them grow healthy and positively. I have not read it all just skimped through it. The letter is too wordy. Try to see how you can make it more concise use line spacing option 1.5 to make it more user friendly to read. Also, dont go too negative about Cyprus. Officers are not that emotional, they work with logic and the law. You would most likely need someone to review it with you.

Below on your education history is not necessary, you dont need to disclose all that information. The officer expected that you should have done your research.

Please Ola I was trying to round up my Canada VV application and I noticed at the time of submitting the application there is no where they ask me to upload my Fund/acct statement .Just my data and US visa .Then the second part where there is employment letter , when I click at the Icon it only requested for an employment letter from a company that want to hire me from Canada which I don't understand and another space where they asked me to upload my consent personal information. Am confused, I attached the page here for you to see and advise.

The documents requested on your IRCC Portal (per screenshot) are based on the responses you have provided which proof of funds is not a mandatory requirement and this must be because you are a holder of a valid US Non-immigrant visa. However, that does not mean you cannot still provide it if you think it helps your case.

A good option would be to get mybankstatement certificate from your bank (its a one-pager document) and upload that on "Additional Document" section as this would save you time of having to compress so many pages of printed bank statements. The Additional Document section is provided on the Portal in case of any other information the applicant in his/her judgement would help their case with the Consulate.

In the event you think there is need for clarification, you can draft a Personal Statement (in formal letter style) addressed to Deputy High Commission of Canada and explain any other information you want to bring to the officer's attention. Though having a valid US visa does not guarantee approval, it gives some credibility to your immigration record (especially if you have used the visa i.e travel record in and out of the US) as Canada relies a lot on the United States intelligence and because of the risk assessment system between both countries.

What you see is an explanatory notes using Canada as an example but i understand it could be confusing due to how it is worded. That section requires confirmation of employment from your current employer in Nigeria.

Please ignore this section. This is only required if you have an IRCC consultant representing you or applying on your behalf.

Agents not recognized by IRCC is a risky bet. Licensed immigration consultant are not cheap but you can do it yourself if you are patient to read through the threads and do your research.

You can use any which you are comfortable with. More importantly is how you are able to present your situation and travel intent in clear and convincing manner to the visa officer.

The current processing time is 30 days if you are applying from Nigeria but those processing times are always an estimate and subject to change on weekly basis. The best is to distract your mind with other stuff. Since you did your biometrics October 7, you are still within standard processing times.

Applications to IRCC requires lots of patience or else you will see yourself having too much anxiety.

As a follow-up, I just did a test run/dummy application, and I think I see where you need clarification:

A. It depends on what you select as to "why you need the visa" E.g if you select "To visit Canada as a tourist" the system would most likely not ask you where you would stay.

B. However, if you select visiting a family or friend who is a citizen, permanent resident, or temporary worker, you will be prompted for the address of that person, which will be where you intend to stay.

If there is any information you think would help your application which has not been mentioned, I would encourage you to state those facts in an official letter addressed to the Deputy High Commission of Canada.

Hope this clarifies the confusion.

There is no question specifically about "hotel address," but you would most likely see a question asking you to state the address where you would be staying. Why are you so peculiar about it? From your screenshot, you are just on the starting page. You still have lots of questions to answer. Go through the process of filling in all responses, and you should see the specific question for the address you are looking for.

NB: RICC means something different. I think you meant "IRCC"

CAN+, as I understand it, is a program that offers expedited processing to applicants who have previously travelled to Canada in the last 10years and complied with visa conditions or who hold a valid US visa at the time of Canadian visitor visa application. I am not aware of a distinct portal for CAN+, but once you file your application on the IRCC portal, there is a questionnaire that would ask "if you hold a valid non-immigrant USA visa", which would require a "Yes" response since you possess that. This would be part of the required documents for you to upload to the IRCC system portal.

With that, your application will be visible to the processing officer of your US Visa status.
