Oluwaloniglory7:
Good Morning house, I need some advise to apply for a visitor visa for my wife and the kids to come and visit me in Canada.

Also, i recently applied for a semester break to resume my second semester in September 2024 instead of May 2024, which is already approved and i was issued a leave approval letter from the school.

My question now is that should i include the leave approval letter for semester break in their application or i should not mention it? because i mentioned i needed a semester break due to unexpected marriage conflict in the course of my absence around my family, which has increasingly been difficult for me to concentrate with my studies and this really affecting my mental health.

Can i also state this as their reason to visit me in Canada for duration of 2 weeks?

Can they stay in the hotel during their visit in Canada

Note: They were recently refused in January 2024 for SOWP & Study visa for the kids because i didn't included my own bank account and despite that my wife had a sufficient funds in her bank account with the proof of funds.

Your insight is highly needed

Thanks
Why dont you address the Visa officer concerns in the visa categories that was initially rejected and apply again than testing different visa category.

Thank you so much for your response. Please what do you mean by work towards permanent resident route? How do I go about this?
The Permanent Resident Pathway is an immigration route that gives you the opportunity to become a Permanent Resident of Canada. This route may take some time but it worth it if you can make the effort and patient. The thread below falls in that visa category. You can study the thread conversations to get acquainted and ask your questions there.

Hi maternal,I got denied a student visa last year October DIY. So I want to pay an agent to help me get a visit visa that can later be turned to a work visa upon getting a job. My questions please?
1. Should I go ahead with the agent? (Requesting #350k for d visit visa, even though I will provide proof of funds of at least #3m in my account)
2. Or should I apply for it myself?
3. Is this a viable option to relocate to Canada?
1. This question has been answered severally on the thread. However, choosing to use an agent or representative is entirely your decision. You just have to bear in mind whatever is declared in your applicant by the agent would be your responsibility. You are the one the visa officer and CBA officer would hold accountable. Also, what is the agent rationale for asking you to have available $3million as proof of funds?. Please, bear in mind that presenting proof of funds (bank statement) does not end in presentation of the statement in itself. You have to provide back-up of the source of funds. E.g if it is a salary account, the support would be sample copies of payslips to evidence the credit inflows in statement. You have to provide reasonable back-up of the inflows explaining source of funds. Finally, the agent should know that amount to be presented as availability for your stay depends on the province and length of stay.

2. Dont you think doing it yourself will help you take more ownership of your application but choosing to use agent or DIY is your decision. It is a good step attempting to do it yourself for the student route. Just take your time and study the application process more, you would master it in no time but if you must use an agent, make sure they are licensed immigration consultant recognized by IRCC and those guys are not cheap.

3. Based on my experience in Canada in recent times, i would say NO. The economy is going through some challenging phase right now and there are lots of queues for few jobs. Many legal residents are not finding it easy but this is not to discourage you if you want to risk it. Just giving you a glimpsed of what it is looking like presently in Canada. My advice would be work towards Permanent Resident route instead.

Good day my good pple on here, I’m here to give feedback back on a thread I posted about receiving a ppr without biometrics, here is what I’m on with my agent we agreed on meeting at VFS and he will give me the ppr letter and the other documents I will make the submission myself inside before I give him any money, like he said he said the visa is runs that he has inside contact that I will confirm it myself I will collect tracking numbers and receipt myself.

Please ur advice is needed
I think you should be careful with that person and probably go with someone if you want to go there so he does not try anything funny, harass or hurt you. If you have never appeared at VFS for biometrics collection, then whatever PPR letter he will give you is fake. Dont be tempted to courier that letter to the embassy.

Bro good morning I have not receive any response since last year August I went for biometrics till now, it's my own email i put but i don't have access to the portal because it my agent dat applied for me, after receiving tracking number from vfs till now they have not email me again and if I ask my agent wether decision is he will say no decision make yet that it's on process, but it have take much time since august last year, does it mean it's it taking much time this days?
You can also try if you will be lucky to recover your account/application from your agent. I itemized some steps in link below sometimes 3 years ago. Where i indicated study permit, select visitor visa. Try the steps and see if you would be lucky to have your application linked to your account.

Otherwise, the last resort would be to meet your agent as others suggested.

Hello, please your opinion is needed on this. As a couple going for a vacation, they've been invited by a friend who resides in Canada. The friend will be sponsoring the accommodation and meals for the entire 30 days.

What would be a reasonable budget for the husband to allocate for spending in Canada? Additionally, there's a section asking about other sponsors for the vacation (who else will sponsor). Should he include the friend's name since he will be covering accommodation and meals? I appreciate your advice on this.
I would leave room for others to share their opinion. The below are the areas i feel may be of concern to the visa officer:

* Have a convincing explanation why both couples would be away for a whole 30 days? Not that this is abnormal but a good reason to convince the officer there is no immigration intent. E.g the average leave period in Nigeria is around 21 to 25 days but i understand there might be unutilized leave period from prior year that can make it 30. Couples would need to explain with good home ties and probably letter from their office confirming their authorized leave.

* Amount to be set aside for the trip would depend on the province both of them intends to visit. Their friend could guide them on a budget though not likely to be cheap considering 30 days X 2 couple's. Different provinces have their unique cost of living.

* Let the couple demonstrate that they have enough money to cover their trip. They should be the major sponsor of their trip and the friend supporting with accommodation so the VO does not score them low on finances. It is assumed a 30 days trip would have been well planned.

* Let them have a well drafted itinerary of their tourist plan for 30 days again, to convince the officer there is no immigration intent. I am always an advocate of shorter duration for a first time applicant then you can do your 30 days in subsequent visit.

* If they have good travel history together to other countries in the past like USA or Australia and have been fulfilling their visa conditions by not overstaying, it could boost their chances.

Those are my thoughts.

Thanks @ olasubomy. The information provided has been of great help. However, my brother who would be sponsoring me lives in USA and not Canada. Would he still be able to be my sponsor?
If he lives in the USA, then he can only be your sponsor financially. He would need to write a formal letter to that effect addressed to the Canadian Consulate. The letter can start with introduction of himself and what he does, where he works and residential address.
The next paragraph can state his confirmation of sponsoring his brother (stating your full name) for the duration of your **** days stay in [ state full address of venue] Canada for the purpose of attending **** conference to be held at ***** city in *** province from **** date to *** date in Canada. He should state amount he is setting aside for you. Dont forget to attach proof of relationship. It could be birth certificate of you guys showing same surname or copy of a US Government issued document/card i.e green card or any legal document that legalize his stay( these can be uploaded in client section of IRCC portal).

In regard accommodation, you may plan to book reservation with an hotel close to the conference site and maybe make payment when your visa is issued. The details of the hotel reservation should be stated in your application.

Please where can someone book for a legit conference online ?
I am not sure where you can book conferences but these are organized from different sources. You can enquire from other folks in your field. It could be an event organized by your professional organization, your work place etc. I supported the other moniker because he/she is a masters student in public health and going for a conference in that same field which makes sense. If you are using conference as a reason for visit, you want to be sure your story looks genuine and believable.

I am a Public Health Masters student in Uk and would want to go for a conference about Public Health in Canada by August, 2024 but my brother would be my sponsor.
What would the requirements for successful visa application be? What documents would I need to submit and would I need to travel back to my home country (Nigeria) to apply or I can apply directly from UK? Kindly help me with answers. Thanks.
You can apply from the UK since you are a legal resident as a student as long as you are fulfilling your student visa conditions by attending classes. The case would be different for visitors who are better applying from their home country. Going for a conference in line with your field as a student makes sense.

Success on visa application is at the discretion of the Canadian Immigration (IRCC) but you should stand a high chance if you can take your time and put in a convincing application. Few tips that can help you are itemized below:

* Attach your immigration document that legalize your stay in the UK i.e UK Home Office BRP letter & BRP Card.
*Academic Record sheet with Grades to date (that proofs you have been attending classes)
* Proof of Funds (if your brother would be sponsoring, you can attach his one pager financial Net worth and stamped by his bank).
* Confirmation Letter of Financial Sponsorship by your brother.
* You can also attach your bank statement as additional proof of funds, just to demonstrate you have some cash.
* Since you are going for a conference and still studying, the shorter the number of days you declare spending in Canada, the better since the officer would expect your resumption for the following semester. Dont forget to attach evidence of payment for the conference and any other relevant document like confirmation of attendance etc. I want to also assume you are planning this to fall during your school scheduled academic break.

* When filing your application, there is section that ask "amount available for your stay" make sure the amount you quote make sense in regard to the days you intend to spend in Canada. Your brother would be able to advice you on this since he lives in Canada.

Overall, you guys should evaluate the application well before you submit to be sure nothing will be confusing to the visa officer. A clue would be if your brother would be granting you an accommodation for the duration of the conference, you want to be sure that he lives in good proximity to the conference. Your brother cannot be living in Alberta and the conference is taking place in Ottawa, that would be a concern to the officer just to give you an example.

All the best!

I have a pressing issue on my neck right now.

1.) I paid and registered for B1/B2 Visa in 2022.
2.) I filled my normal details initially
3.) Along the line my cousin sister a citizen now volunteered to offer my an IV and that I should also use her dad who is presently sick in the USA as an excuse to visit.
4.) I agreed, with her directives I reacquired a new NPC birth certificate to show her dad's name, and also did the same on my marriage certificate.
5.) My interview is just on the 22nd (4 days)
6.) Few weeks ago i edited my DS 106 form and changed my dad name to her name dad's name, plus other things changed.
7.) For record purposes I originally used her details as a USA citizen to fill my contact and host person.
8.) Our plan is that I will be coming with her IV on the basis of her forthcoming birthday and another doctor's report recommending I visit so as to pay our dad (her dad) a visit.
9.) Meanwhile, I have done all necessary printing; bank statements, leave approved, employment letter, salary slip, birthday program card etc

10.) Now the problem is this: she is finding fault in most of the things I printed and from my observations, she is not wanting to send me the promised invitation letter and doctor's report as planned.

NOW WHAT DO I DO?
Solution, re-fill your DS160 to reflect the complete truth about yourself. Furthermore, please correct any paperwork you have acquired that is fake. Do your research and gather info on requirements for B1/B2 visa. Some former US Visa officers ( who are now consultants) has shared useful information how the US consulate operate and what they see on their screen when you appear for an interview on YouTube. These padding you have done is too much, they will detect you are telling lies. I wont advise you to appear before the interview with this DS 160 information, you would likely be thrown off balance.

If you intend to build a future overseas, build it on foundation of truth for your peace of mind.

For the 1st application, I did not have access to all the information he used.
But my question is that if I apply for the GCMS NOTE FOR THE 1ST APPLICATION AND THE INFO IS DIFFER FROM THE 2ND APPLICATION, WHICH ONE SHOULD I USED OR SHOULD I BASE MY NEW APPLICATION ON THE INFORMATION I HAVE ON MY 2ND APPLICATION GCMS NOTE.
Yes I filled the section where they asked if have been refused b4 and explained the reason there.
Ok, you would need to address concerns in both GCMS notes because that is the remark that would keep coming up to the attention of any visa officer attached to your file.

Also, if you really declared your refusal then there is likely something inconsistent in your application. Perhaps, something the agent had filled in your first application which you are not aware of when filing the subsequent application.

Good evening sir/maa
Please I need ur advice on my application
On Nov 2021, I applied for Canada visitors visa and it was refused on June 2023.
Reason: debt to the crown, from my findings the agent that handle d application did not pay the application fee. So have paid the fee (185canadian dollars) for d debt to the crown and it was confirmed by IRCC.
On Sept 2023, I applied for anoda visitors(2ND) visa but it was also refused on Feb 27th 2024.

Reason: you are not truthful filled the form given to u. So I ordered for GCMS NOTE
BASED ON MY 2ND APPLICATION TO KNOW THE REASON IN DETAILS, THE GCMS NOTE CAME TODAY AFTER READING TRU IT DIS IS WOT I FIND OUT

I HAVE REVIEWED THE APPLICATION. I AM NOT SATISFIED THAT THE APPLICANT HAS BEEN TRUTHFUL IN THE DOCUMENTS AND ANSWERS SUBMITTED IN SUPPORT OF THE APPLICATION, AS REQUIRED BY SUBSECTION 16(1) OF THE ACT. SPECIFICALLY, I AM NOT SATISFIED THAT D FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS TRUTHFUL: FAILED TO DECLARE PREVIOUS MISREPRESENTATION.
FOR DIS REASON I HAVE REFUSED THIS APPLICATION
PLS,MY QUESTION IS THAT SHOULD I STILL NEED TO ORDER FOR ANODA GCMS NOTE FOR MY 1ST VISTORS APPLICATION B4 I APPLY FOR THE NEW ONE AND IF I ORDER FOR IT AND I FIND OUT THAT THE INFORMATION IS DIFFER HOW SHOULD I GO ABT IT WEN APPLY FOR THE NEW APPLICATION OR SHOULD I JUST STICK ON THE INFO ON MY 2ND APPLICATION TO APPLY FOR THE NEW ONE.
NOTE : MY 2ND APPLICATION WAS ANDLE BY ME.
THANKS
Hello Temitaryor1,

1. There is a section in the application form that ask if you have been refused visa before, did you confirm yes, that you have been refused Canadian visa and explained the issue that transpired. ( the debt to the crown issue and your subsequent payment)? Also, bear in mind an application cannot be successfully submitted and transmitted to IRCC without payment. I suspect payment was made and their was a chargeback on your application.

2. Do you have access to all the information the agent filled in your first application and where you consistent with that same information in your 2nd application?

I would advise people to avoid agents, some of them dont understand this visa application thing. Better doing it yourself.

American visa interview is not that very hard to pass, you will be asked about what you wrote on your Ds160 when completing your applications
I.e
Whats is taking you to the US
What are you doing presently here in Nigeria
This is usually the first 2 questions, once you can convincingly tell the visa officer what you do here in Nigeria, then the next question
Lets be careful not to confuse people. I think i gave the best guidance the OP can work with. Any question can come up in an interview, that's why there is need for preparation. No one can tell what question you would be asked, that lies with the visa officer. I dont think we should argue about this. This is pretty straightforward. Thanks!

Hello house.

I have a cousing brother who is holding a valid Canada tourist visa.He has decided not to travel to Canada but want to apply for a US visiting visa. His Canada visa was approved on a first attempt without any travel history.

Can he go ahead applying for the US visa and what is his chances of getting the US visa approved.?

Thanks as I await responses.
Olasupo,

I would suggest he utilize the Canadian visa first and fulfil the visa conditions by not overstaying but return back to his home country. He can then apply for the US visa by filling the Canadian travel history in his DS160. That may strengthen his profile. However, if he chooses to proceed to apply for US visa now, he has to bear in mind that his success at the US consulate would depend on how well he is able to respond to the officers interview questions. He has not yet utilized the Canadian visa so no travel history on record yet. He should not relax just because he has a Canadian visa. Let him prepare very well for the interview. The interview questions would most likely come from what he filled in his DS160.

All the best to your cousin.

Thanks so much for your robust responses...

How can one apply for GCMS notes?

2500cad was filled as amount for the duration of 15days stay in Canada.

Christmas holiday at Niagara fall was stated as main purpose of visiting Canada.

No one is planning to host them.
it is easier if you have a trusted person in Canada who can apply for the GCMS notes on your behalf. It cost just 5 Canadian dollars. But, must be someone you trust as it would involve you sharing your application ID and UCI with that person. However, you can also apply for it yourself.
I would have named some third party sites but not sure if that is allowed here. Go on Google and type "
GCMS Notes" As you scroll, you would see different 3rd party providers. Use any one of them also, you would be required to fill a consent form and sign with blue ink.

Secondly, looks like i see the problem; $2,500 for 15 days for husband and wife inclusive of accommodation in Toronto might not be sufficient. This is because Toronto is very expensive including the housing market. That may work in some other cheaper province. Lets do some quick math's. An average of $2500/15days = 167 Canadian per day for two adults and when we further divide this by husband and wife given 83 dollars per adult. Now bearing in mind, you would have to pay for transportation and some of these tourist attractions the couples would love to explore. I am also guessing this $2,500 also includes accommodation and if that is the case, then looks like we are seeing the officers concern.

NB: For tourist visa, there is no specific amount outlined by IRCC. Proof of funds depends on your duration of visit and the place of destination. Make sure the amount you quote as available for your stay covers adequately your trip putting into consideration your feeding, transport, entertainment expense and accommodation. I don't live in Toronto, would have advised on an estimate to work with but you can find out from someone who lives there or you do the research.

Finally, don't limit your trip to just one tourist site for a whole 15days. Try to check other interesting places to see. YouTube is your friend. Then redraft a detailed itinery in your next application.

I hope this helps.

Refusal response today December 11th

Husband and Wife applied and Husband was the primary applicant.

Wife bank statement of six months 14m naira closing balance and total logdement of 24m naira was used with no lump sum.

Number of days proposed to spent in Canada - 15days

Husband is a senior banker.
Wife has duly registered tailoring firm which the account was used.

Please, where can issues be from...
Sorry, about the temporary delay on your application. The information on IRCC official correspondence is generic. You wont be able to make any informed meaning from it. Let them apply for GCMS notes to see if they would be more specific on their reasons. However, CV of husband and wife looks good. May i ask, there is a section of the application where it is requested to state "Amount available for your stay" How much was filled there?.

Secondly, what was declared as the main purpose of visit and in what province ( was someone planning to host them)? Hopefully, the GCMS notes would be more specific.

On the surface, i don't see any issue with their finances but there might be need for them to evaluate what they filled in their application.

I will be very much open to anybody that want to start business with me. Even if you can send okirika please do it and let start little, although fake people have made it very difficult to trust any person, but we can start with only One to 20 items and from there you will see how sincere I am. Also if you have any business idea relate it to me I will gladly do it here in Nigeria and you be the best friend ever and also you will gain from it.... Send only one bicycle or even two Moto tires and see what will happen... I don't like begging for money or start stealing but lets do business. Myself need anything someone can send from abroad that I can market here because in this country if you don't have connections abroad for business you may likely fall. I wish I have a brother or sister there that I can trust I will not struggle to travel out
It is well. God will sought you out. Just be careful about anyone that pose to be from abroad and wants to do business with you. Scammers are more in the western world. No, it did not affect my appointment date. You would just need to re-apply for the 10 years. I remember doing that without any change to appointment date. You dont need to change your appointment date as far as i can remember.

The refund process took about 4 to 5 weeks before my account was credited.

Hello guys,

I am scheduled to renew my Nigerian international passport at the Nigerian embassy in Ottawa in December. I applied for the 5 yr passport. I don't want to go through passport renewal again anytime soon. How can I go about this?
Ottawa embassy do issue 10yr passport. Got mine last December and they were very fast in delivery within 1 week. You will see it on their website if it is currently available. Just the same way you selected 5yrs, just select 10yrs if it is currently available.

I had the same predicament, first applied for 5 years and later had to apply for 10yrs. I was told to apply for the 10years afresh and seek for a refund of the payment for 5 years already made.

Well understood bro, what am trying to figure here is a case whereby someone as a vv already but still yet to travel and still have an admission offer as well. What are the things to be done in this kind of scenario
My advise would be to put a hold on travel plans and face the student route if you have the long term plan of relocating or if you are patient, explore the permanent resident route. It is not feasible as people think getting a job here with visit visa or converting to LMIA. I have some friends who we schooled here together still throwing CVs for a job. Every dollar here count and wont be nice travelling and every penny vanishes on rent and running cost.

If you decide on student route, research very well on the province and their immigration opportunities. You can start with Alberta and the Atlantic province i.e Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, Newfound land if these meets your needs so you can save cost.

I have stopped responding to e-mails for some time now because i no longer have that time commitment to give clarifications and assistance to monikers that needs support on their applications. Sorry, about that. I just login randomly from time to time when i am free, but you can always ask your questions here. I would respond if no other person has responded .I see lots of very informed guys on this thread who would be ready to answer all your questions in case i am offline so you are in good hands.

Good day NLs, what are the procedures to change a vv to a study visa. Would appreciate responses on this
There is nothing like changing your visit visa to study visa directly with IRCC. You would need to follow the procedures of getting an admission from an approved DLI institute and apply for your study permit as if you are outside of Canada because you wont be a legal resident of Canada having a " visit visa" status.

Once you submit your application and still in process while your authorized period of stay for your visit expires, you are required to depart to your home country and await decision on the study visa application because you would need to go through the port of entry before issuance of your study permit. (Don't be tempted to overstay your visit because you are awaiting decision on study permit).

Frankly, it is better applying for your study permit from your home country than applying from Canada ( if you are not a legal resident), it gives that impression of strong home ties.

Hope this helps!

Gurus, pls help me Everluate my approval chances for visit visa

Zero travel history
Zero properties
30yrs no wife or kids
Bsc. Biochemistry
Gainfully employed
Naira account with monthly 11m turnover
6m in naira account
5k USD in dom account.

I also have a side business where I buy goods and waybill to people in the east hence the huge turnover, but it's not a registered business so I'm not sure I can declare it.

I intend to visit for 1 week and return, is there a chance of approval or do I focus on other things
Your profile summary looks good. It is even better if you have been on the job for a while and able to show progression (e.g promotion) . You just need to put together a strong application being a first time applicant and presenting a virgin passport. Use your job to your advantage to show your home ties.

* Reference Letter from your HR addressed to Canadian embassy ( they should have a standard template)
* Proof of Leave approval
* Bank statement to show inflow/outflow of monthly salary payment or better still (mybankstatement).
* Let your purpose of visit make sense. Research well about the province you intend to visit and the tourist areas.

All the best!
