CBN’s spokesman, Osita Nwanisobi, said the move is meant to promote inclusion and growth in the financial services sector via Nigeria’s central switch system, NIBSS. Nwaniso said the scheme will become effective in January 2023. ThisDay reports that with the introduction of the card, Nigeria joins a growing list of countries such as India, Turkey, China, and Brazil as leading examples – which have launched domestic card schemes and harnessed the transformative benefits for their respective payments and financial systems, particularly for the underbanked. Nwanisobi said: “The CBN recognises the significant benefits from delivering Africa’s first central bank-driven, domestic card scheme, which, when delivered at scale, has the potential to become the largest in Africa, and one of the largest in the world.” Recall that Legit.ng reported that in recent years, there has been a huge spike in the number of fraudulent cases, and this has become a source of concern for the Central Bank of Nigeria. In an industry fraud report by the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS) it was detailed that in a nine month period, fraudsters attempted attacks 46,126 times, and they were successful on 41,979 occasions. Nigerians can really misbehave once given some space, muck up the waters and ruin the chances for others. It’s like a curse. They are also quick to complain of maltreatment. |

Kogi House of Assembly on Monday summoned cement manufacturing firm BUA Group over a 50,000-hectare land it acquired 10 years ago. The lawmakers gave the summons at a public hearing of one of its ad hoc committees held at a hotel in Lokoja since its complex was gutted by fire penultimate Monday. Deputy Speaker Alfa Momoh-Rabiu, who read the summons after listening to the acting surveyor-general, Salihu Mustapha, expressed shock at the development. “We are having (a) problem with the Bua Group over 50,000 hectares of land it acquired in 2012 and even obtained a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) but has not paid a kobo for the land. We have written to the group several times, but it has not responded to any of the letters,” stated Mr Mustapha. The acting surveyor-general added, “No compensation has been paid to the communities that own the expanse of land.” Umar Tenimu, the ad hoc committee chairman, said it was an offence for Bua Group to hold the land for more than 10 years without paying for it. He added that if BUA Group refused to pay for the land and compensate the community, the government should revoke its C of O. When contacted, BUA spokesman Sunday Ogieva said he could not comment on the issue. https://gazettengr.com/kogi-assembly-summons-bua-threatens-to-revoke-its-50000-hectare-land-ownership/ |
In a sane country, by now everyone will be on the streets demanding the immediate release of MNK. But in Nigeria, everyone is busy talking about voting for the right person to make the country "great". How can your country move forward when injustice is the order of the day? |

No where on this planet earth a government is so deadly devilish, corrupt, retrogressive, irresponsible and highly impunitive and nepotism personified as this evil minded APC buhari government. For even APC as a political party to shamelessly continue seeking to rule nigeria is an unpardonable insult to common collective intelligence and peace of Nigerians. |

This is misinterpretation of the words of the incoming president of the federal republic of Nigeria. His words were that the nation needs not an Igbo ,Yoruba or Hausa president but that bridge builder and the unifying factor like himself. And this is just some of the propaganda APC and opposition parties wants to use to cause confusion but I'm sure beyond this,Nigerians are wiser than before and they have zero tolerance for gullibility |
