Police Arrest Four-man Sex Blackmail Syndicate In Anambra

The Police Command in Anambra has arrested four suspected members of a syndicate, two males and two females who extort money from people through blackmail.

DSP Ikenga Toochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday said they specialised in taking nude pictures of victims and threaten to post them online unless they paid money.

Ikenga gave the identities of the suspects as Okechukwu Ogoejiofor, 36, Nonso Nwizu, 34, Esther Nwafor lfeanyichukwu, 21 and Obianuju Nduba, 20.

He said the victims were arrested at Ajakpani village, Umunya in Oyi Local Government Area for alleged conspiracy, demanding with menaces and stealing.

The PPRO said the suspects used social media to lure their unsuspecting male victims into fake love/friendship affairs and thereafter take them to a room where they engage them in pre-intimacy.

According to him, Obianuju Nduba engaged the victim in a pre-intimacy while other members of the gang force themselves into the room.

“They take nude pictures and videos of the victims, which they use to force the victims into transferring huge sums of money to them.

“They usually threaten to publish the nude pictures and videos on social media if the victims fail to comply and also dispossess the individual of his personal belongings,” he stated.

Ikenga said the case shall be charged to court once investigations are concluded.

The CP further warned members of the public to be wary of the activities of criminal elements who have taken their trade to social media.

Nigerian Navy dismisses naval officer for sod@mizing a teenager, others

The Nigerian Navy has dismissed one of its personnels, SLT VN Ukpawanne, for allegedly sod@mizing an unnamed teenager.

Ukpawanne was dismissed after he was arraigned before a court-martial set up by the Nigerian Navy in Sapele, Delta State on four counts.

He was found guilty of disobeying standing order, attempting to commit sod@my, disgr@ceful conduct and wrong use of dr#gs.

“Sequel to Reference A regarding NHQ approval and Confirmation of Court Martial P#nishment for the officer named above who attempted to commit Sod@my amidst other offences on 27 Oct 21 with one teenager, (name withheld), close to Sapele Stadium, On 15 Aug 22 at about 1035, the officer was officially paraded and his sentences were read accordingly.

Accordingly, the officer was awarded one-year loss of seniority, six months imprisonment, another six months imprisonment and lastly one-year imprisonment for all four offences.

Pertinently, all imprisonment sentences are to run concurrently. The dismissed officer is currently awaiting medical clearance from the Naval Medical Centre before handing over to Sapele Correctional Center for commencement of imprisonment term,” a memo dated August 1, reads in part.
