Thank you all for your advice
@ mimibe and @dakotchic

i finally got my Zero balance yesterday from gwinnett, after i mailed the management on friday, a lady from the financial department was assigned to help sort my issue out and the excess bill was withdrawn, so am cleared…
please for those that applied for niaja passport in atlanta, do you get the passport same day you go for the interview? and after paying online and buying the 30 dollars money order, do i buy a self addressed overnight delivery envelope or i also do that as money order and they sort it themselves?

@Shawbabe
Thats true o, had my baby there on the 3rd of december and i got a bill of 9547 and my baby 1028 and 67 for visit to peadtrician, this price is before 40% discount……..and not what i expected at all…it was a vaginal delivery o……so pls my advice is go to an hospital with a fixed price and not an estimate…..cos u never can tell what the bill will look like at the end……..not a straight forward bill at all.
@ebonyademi

@bmay

Attention Atlanta Mums,

I called Gwiwnnett price estimate line and the automated system said their hospital fees were:

4-6k for normal delivery with 40% discount for self pay
10-12 k for cs with same discount for self pay.

HOWEVER,
I had sent them an email over the weekend when I was considering porting from northside since I couldn't seem to get a doctor there to take me at 35weeks. I got their reply this morning which stated a whopping 2x increase . Read a portion below:

"Prices are based on level of care and length of stay. On average, patients who experience a normal vaginal delivery and remain in our facility for 2 days incur charges from $8,000 to $10,000.

Patients who deliver by caesarian who remain in our facility for 4 days incur charges from $15,000 to $25,000. "

(And of course you know this excludes physicians fee, anaestheasia, paediatricians fee etc...)

I called the financial counsellor whose number was on the email and told her that their voice prompt gave me a different quote from her email. She put me on hold for a few minutes to confirm this and got back to me apologizing that the voice prompt had not been updated yet, and that this was the new price estimate ! She also said they dont do more than a 40% discount, and that if I was "STRUGGLING" financially I should applY for Medicaid! ( which of course I would NEVER do)!

So for those of us intending to birth at Gwinnett, please be aware of this price review, don't be shocked after delivery. E no go funny!

Dr Emmanuel Mordi's office does. It's located at Buford near mall of Georgia-please Google his address. Otherwise you could walk into any Claire's and ask for it to be done.

Thanks dear, will try claire's first….cos dr Mordi says he will have to do immunization first before he pierces her ears…..did you use him as your peadtrician..
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Olhar: 1:45am On Dec 16, 2014
please could anyone help with where i can pierce my baby's ear here in atlanta, everyone keeps saying till after 2 months or after immunization…..she is just 2 weeks old…..or any peadtrician that can doit before 2 months.

I don't think there's a price increase just a more realistic presentation of their quotes @gwinett. I used the agent near the consulate office for the Nigerian passport and the 145usd includes his fees.

thanks dear…..will do the same...

I stayed at milton with family. Got the ssn by mail within 2weeks of delivery(I asked the hospital to apply),US passport was ready by the 2nd working day but I asked them to mail it and I got it within a week. I also got them to mail the Nigerian passport and it arrived within 1 week. So in 2 weeks you should have all your documents. The US passport cost 165usd for expedited at the passport agency and I spent 145usd for the Nigerian one.

Please regarding the naija passport, i would like to get a break down on how u went about it at the embassy, did u use eddy, or u walked into the embassy and did it all on your one…..
thanks

Hello guys!

Jst a quick question pls. Can I expedite the u.s passport at the post office or it has to be at a regional passport office?

@ Zayt, yes you can, but its it will be 2 -3 weeks but if you want the 5 business days one then it has to be at the regional passport office…..will be doing mine at the post office anyway…..how is your LO doing, and have you gotten your bills yet from gwinnett, am eager to get mine and they keep telling me it takes 10-15 days

Nobody wan answer me for accommodation close to Gwinnett, for Georgia. sad Una no want make I give birth in yankee eh? My American baby sad

Am currently at metro extended stay, lawrenceville its not that bad u can check them online and book them depending on what room and how many occupants….i took a large studio with 2 double beds cos and the total was 846 for the first months including, deposits and tax…..but a smaller room will be cheaper….i have asked them for my bill next month and its slightly cheaper am paying 780 or so……so if its just you, it will be cheaper….they do monthly rates but not online so whatever estimate u get onine will be cheaper when u get here if you take advantage of their monthly rates…….its like 5 minutes to the hospital and a walkable distance to walmart for your grocery shopping…..am hear till janaury hopefully so you can send me pm and i just update you more and its 7 dollars to the hospital if its just you and additional 2 dollars per passenger or so……
hope it helps

Hi all.....
Houston no easy o....i came in thru that poe on monday n had a very stressful n annoying experience.....
All pregnant women in my plane was sent for secondary inspection...I was delayed for 3 hrs
My experience
The only reason they stressed me was cos I was pregnant n didn't declare at my interview but I already used the visa for vacation purpose n now birthing.........anyway what saved me was cos I sent change of plans to Lagos embassy n I printed it with copies of my email correspondence with the doc n the hospital.......
My advice
Pls make ur phone clear of anything that can implicate u.....cos they check ur phones.....even if it's passworded they will ask for the pin n make sure u re bold n smart....cos they twist question......they ask them in different ways
They are so mean......I was with my mum n little daughter but they didn't even care.......
My daughter was hungry n fussy but they didn't even care......
Above all na prayer my people.....cos they insisted on sending me back....n they stamped my mum n daughter in for 6 months but not me until I convinced them n insisted but I mailed the embassy.....we layer became friends n he was even the one advising me on how to go about documents n all....after delivery....n he said I should make sure I bring all my receipts on my next trip

Well, it depends.....it's an achievement but at the same time.....even if you haven't achieved anything before marriage, most marriages bring in enough achievements for the couples......and open many opportunities
