If you had to choose between generating funds and charity you'd not think twice before following the Governor's footsteps. A State Central Park will generate revenue for the State upon completion, while an opposition Party Governor who chooses to sink money in a FG owned project can only expect to be owed for a long time. Governance is not about disbursing funds and handing out treats like the Gov is a dark Santa, the State will go broke before long.

Granted that Imo State is not the only place were labour laws have been badly misinterpreted by the govt, but u cannot select how or were the NLC chooses to make a stand, especially when it concerns their President's home State. Any sane person would expect a Gov, a few days away from a re-election, to negotiate and not resort to thuggery. Electing to blame an institution working in accordance with the Constitution as against an administration that has acted unconstitutionally is not a wise approach. NLC is just being Insensitive

First off, your understanding of Labour Unionism and politics is marred by the Nigerian political landscape. Since the 1900s when the Labour Union was formed in England and formed its first govt in 1924, Labour Unions around the world have also formed their own parties and attracted politicians. The NLC is no different, and it started the Labour Party in Nigeria, in 2002. Expecting the NLC and it's president to be apolitical shows you have no idea what the role of the Labour Union is as a democratic institution. Robin Cohen in his book titled, Labour & Politics in Nigeria, noted down a lot but I'll mention just two. 'Gross violation of Nigeria labor laws by employers and corrupt practices on the part of administering authorities.' Guess what, the govt is the highest employer of labour in Nigeria, and Joe Ajaero was there to protest the violated rights of Imo State workers as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution! Check your 'blame the victims' mentality and quit siding with oppressors because you're far removed from the consequences. If the govt can openly assault a national Labour leader without consequences, what do you think would be the fate of the minimum wage worker in that State??
