Business › Re: Jumia Shares Drop 17% After Q2 Results, Investors React Negatively by olisefom: 9:45am On Aug 18, 2023 |
Svoboda: The reason for their decline is not necessarily competition. The major factor is the reduction of the purchasing power in big african economies where they operate, ie Nigeria, ghana and Egypt.
Also, jumia has spent lots of its resources on growth and expansion. This hasnt yielded positives. In short, the business isnt structured for profitability. Well, your reasons can't be discarded. But just assume that they are the sole online market- place in those economies you mentioned. Do you think the results would have been the same? |

Nigeria business terrain isn't an easy place.
You come up with a business idea, and boom...everyone rush and follow up. Unfortunately, they can even do it better than you do.
Jumia paved the way for online market place in Nigeria, but as it stands, they are being poached big time. |

The wedding Bill weighed on him. Nigerians don't learn.
Typical daft Nigerian lady mentality. So because he was the one that wanted your hand in marriage he should go over what he could afford. This mindset have sank many young couples for life.
In this situation, they need a miracle to even continue as couples as time progresses. |

SmartPolician: That's an unfair comparison. During the death of the Queen, there were guests from all over the world coming to the UK. In the picture above, Putin invited a few African leaders to a meeting in Moscow.
Besides, the UK is a country that takes strict steps to manage their resources, unlike broke African countries living an extravagant lifestyle. When Boris Johnson was the British PM, he often travelled in the economy class of British Airways, but a broke Nigerian president always flies a NAF jet anywhere he goes. Stupid leaders wanting kinglike treatment. They should even reject it if presented to them. |

LagBlogger: There are 3 ways I know;
1. Be born into a rich family or be connected to rich benefactors who can hook you up with a life changing job or contract.
2. Hustle hard, make small money, save like crazy then invest wisely. Maybe in 7 to 15 years time you'll become rich. Almost any legit biz can do it but it is not the easiest way. Good examples music, acting, business, trading crypto etc.
3. Become an evil money chaser i.e yahoo yahoo, selling drugs, scamming people for fake jobs, fake pastor, politician, runz girl or other evil runs Yes. Any legit business can make one rich. Work and patience. |
