We dont hate the country. We hate the CONDITION THE COUNTRY IS IN.

This said it all. Some ignorant Nigerians do however routinely confuse the CONDITION THE COUNTRY IS IN with country itself.

Nigeria's U.S. crude export rises by 16 percent
By Laolu Akande and Yakubu Lawal

In a development that seems to lend credence to analysts' view that the United States (U.S.) might be looking beyond the strife-torn Middle-East for its energy needs, the U.S. crude oil import from African sources is on the upswing with Nigeria recording a 16.2 percent rise in its crude export to the U.S. last year.

In fact, according to a new report by the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce, other African oil producers even did better than Nigeria in exporting crude to the U.S.

The report came ahead of the eighth yearly U.S.-sub-Saharan Africa Trade and Economic Co-operation Forum scheduled to hold in Nairobi, Kenya, from August 4 - 6, 2009.

Meanwhile, stakeholders in the Nigerian oil and gas industry were yesterday assured that their concerns as raised in the proposed Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) currently before the National Assembly would be addressed by the lawmakers, especially for the growth of indigenous companies in the sector.

What is PIT?
PIT is Personal Income Tax. It is a tax that is imposed on individuals who are either in employment or are running their own small businesses under a business name or partnership.

Though collection of PIT is a federal responsibility this tax is generally collected by state governments from those that are resident in their various states, regardless of whether they are federal, state, local government, or private sector workers.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service, however, also collects this tax but only from residents of the Federal Capital Territory as well as what may be described as highly mobile federal workers – staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other Nigerians and foreigners outside the country but earning income in Nigeria (non-residents), expatriate workers resident in Nigeria, Police Officers, and Military Officers. Civilians working in Police and Military formations, however, pay to their respective States of residence.

To fix the justice system:

Make the office of the public prosecution (states and federal) the ONLY crime prosecuting agent and STOP Police, EFCC, NDLEA and other law enforcement agencies from prosecuting cases. All suspected/arrested offenders together with the evidence against them should be send to the state/federal office of public prosecution within 48 hours.

Move the prison dept from the ministry of internal affair and put it under the ministry of justice where it belong.

Here come the foolish Nigerian way of reasoning.

Fufuheads, if the police wanted him dead they would have killed him the day he was arrested, before anyone know about him and claim he got killed in a shootout.

No need parading him first.

And stop believing the crap criminals who call themselves MEND are throwing at you.

I am sure there is hardly any Nigerian apart from the thieving politicians, who is against fair share of oil resources for Niger Delta. However we can't be held hostage to achieve this. We have bent backward enough.
Ijaws are the only minority group with a whole state to themselves in Bayelsa.
Even Jonathan was purposely chosen as VP to parley them.
There are NDDC and ministry of Niger Delta all with billions of naira budget.
Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa are the richest states in Nigeria in that order according to revenue allocation.
I know they don't want the rest of us to share in the oil money. Fair enough. However you need a constitutional amendment to achieve that and this require democratic procedure not violent.

It was this kind of gra gra attitude that destroyed the true federalism we had in the first republic when each regions controlled her resources. One of the result of the useless civil war, apart from the unnecessary waste of lives, was the concentration of power by the federal govt. The more Ojukwu threatened to secede the more power Gowon grabbed for the federal govt. By the time the dust settled we were left with 12, 19, 21 and now 36 powerless states that can't do anything unless federal govt let them. To understand clearly what was lost remember that each region was sufficiently powerful enough that Ojukwu was able to raise an army. Which state or tribe in Nigeria can raise an army? The best we can do are some ragtag militants (OPC, Massob, Mend etc) who are of no match or the Nigerian Army.

Nigeria's democracy is not perfect but that is all we have and the best we can do is to come up with ideas to fix it. Not Threats and propaganda.
