Nobody cares, yet this leaders will go to church leaders to have hands lay on them for prayers and even Nigerians to pray for them to steal more. from Ribadu to Tinubu e.t.c all of them are out to steal and to steal us blind.

You are spot on with your analysis as far as in know I've never seen a country that reward laziness like Ireland, most right thinking professionals who are not tied down by mortgage has left the sinking ship. Some few month ago a doctor friend of mine left Ireland and move to the UK he's been cursing himself for not moving earlier!
I know a naija who bought a property at the peak for 310000 euros (2006/7),the same property is now worth 160,000 euros.it's a tragedy!

About 2 yrs ago, Irish Govt came hard on immigrant medical doctors mainly Nigerians as regard their Visa Status and the tenure of their training program, this leads them to no other choice than leaving ireland,so majority (90%) of Nigerian MD have since left for canada, usa and united kingdom,Irish govt permits laziness and refuse to honour hardwork.for instance unemployment benefit in ireland uptill now is around 200 euros per month excluding accomodation, medical services, child benefit and all sorts, that's why you'll see a Naija man resigning from work to claim unemployment benefit while going to drive taxi at night, there's no check.Irish themselves do this, assuming a family have 4 children and on unemployment benefit with the child benefit and unemployment benefit and housing benefit at the end of the month may amount to about 2000euros or more,so why the need to work?this and all other mess put the country in the position they're in at the moment. I won't advice any forward looking Nigerian Professional to stay a day in that country. The country economy is based on tax, therefore the more you earn the more tax you pay.Property prices have been devalued and it's still going down, prices of stuffs are extremely high probably the highest in EU.Hope the irish will learn now,but for Nigerians they can adapt to any situation i wish them all the best.

Hi Siena,
I was in Nigeria 2 years ago, to understudy any area of businesses that one could invest in,at the same check up on the cost of living in Nigeria for an average family with 2 young children and this are my findings:

1.Having been away from Nigeria for a long while,I realized that doing business in Nigeria is not easy, there are so many bureacracy like you must know someone.,to get things done quickly, you must give bribe (I'm not used to giving bribe!),People lie a lot to get something from you.and also it's difficult to get true value for money when you want to get things done,it's either they undercut you or you overpay, there is also the cost of generator set, overvalued business premises,(a friend wanted a small business outlet around lekki and he was charged 20 Million for a year and he must pay for 3 years i.e 60 Million) therefore making the cost of doing business in Nigeria very high.In essence to establish a good business in Nigeria you will need good money and banks are difficult to deal with, though if you are able to overcome this hurdles luck may be on your side to make good money.

2.There is also inconsistent government policies, they can't be relied on.

3.You will need to know either a senior police officer or a military man in case of uncertainties, there are some overzealous law officers that will just want to deal with you for no just reasons.I will give you an example,I was stopped by some police officers who claimed that my car was a stolen car just because I refused to give them bribe which they had earlier asked for,I was told that My car will be impounded and i will be charged to court, despite evidences with my documents, but Nigerian policemen will always want to have their way,but because I knew one of their top boss who gave an order that my car must released with immediate effect, but we all know the genesis of this story which is that I refused to offer them bribe in the first place.

4.You will need a very good lawyer, because there will be overzealous neighbours or business associate who will want to play some games on you.

5.Cost of renting an accomodation to live in ( though depending on your choice) is very expensive, and buying will be dearer as well,I know someone who bought an old house around VI around 80million and renovate for a modest 10 million you may want to look into that as well.

6.Living around VI will give you easy access to shopping malls and fairly good schools for your children.

7.I do drive myself, but not in Nigeria!,you will definitely need a good driver to drive you around lagos,He must be able to know how to avoid traffic holds, bad roads etc, among other things.

8.Be careful of fraudlent people, and you must know that you're dealing with the right people.

This advice is based on lagos alone, though this is similar to other cities in Nigeria, but you must still visit and see things for your self,If you're able to overcome this hurdles and many more that I can't remember now, then I think Nigeria will be interesting to live in,always remember ''that there's no place like home''.

Wish you luck!

For the first time since the annulment of June 12, 1993 presidential election won by the late business mogul, Bashorun MKO Abiola, former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, has given a reason for the annulment. He said he was compelled to nullify the election because of security threats to the enthronement of a democratic government at the time.
Babangida made this disclosure yesterday on a TV programme, Moments with Mo, anchored by Mo Abudu and broadcast on MNet channel of DSTV.
Babangida, who described the annulment as “unfortunate” and revealed that he would launch a book on the saga next year, said having been on the steering wheel of government at the time, he and the Armed Forces Ruling Council (AFRC) knew that the new democratic government to be installed would sooner than later be toppled through another military coup deta’t, which he said his government wanted to avoid.
According to him, his regime had decided that it would be the last administration that would ascend the seat of power through coup, adding that it would make no sense to install a democratic government that would be truncated within another six months.
He, however, admitted that the June 12 presidential election was free and fair and also the best of all elections ever conducted in Nigeria’s history.
“June 12 was accepted by Nigerians as the best of elections in Nigeria. It was free and fair. But unfortunately, we cancelled that election. I used the word unfortunately, for the first time. We were in government at the time and we knew the possible consequences of handing over to a democratic government. We did well that we wanted ours to be the last military coup deta’t. To be honest with you, the situation was not ripe to hand over at the time.
“Forget about the wrong things that happened in politics. The issue of security of the nation was a threat and we would have considered ourselves to have failed, if six months after handover, there was another coup. I went through coup deta’t and I survived it. We knew that there would be another coup deta’t. But not many people believed what we said. They could have allowed me to go away and then they (coup plotters) would regroup and stage another coup. This is how coups are staged - one man will always come to complain. And he will try to convince you about his complaints,” Babangida said.
He said security threats to the advent of democracy at the time culminated in fresh plans to conduct another election within another six months after June 12 annulment, with better strategy, but which he said he could not achieve as a result of the hostility which accompanied the cancellation. According to him, another election was conceived to come up in November 1993.
He revealed further that he was determined to conduct another election which culminated in the constitution of an Interim National Government (ING), which he noted was eventually toppled by a military coup staged by General Sani Abacha.
Babangida implied that what happened to the ING was eventually the fate that would have befallen the civil rule which his regime would have handed over to.
The former military president said the whole concept of his regime’s plan to hand over to a civil government was aimed at effecting a lasting change which could put paid to rigging. This notion, he said resulted in the decision to register only two political parties, the Social Demoratic Party (SDP) and the National Republican Convention (NRC). “When there are two things, you have an option – this or that or nothing. We tried to regulate the number of political parties. We knew what to do,” he said.
Babangida, who expressed fears that his revelation might put him in trouble, was not categorical about his presidential ambition come 2011. Instead, he played around it, saying he was not getting younger, adding that he would rather make himself available to make certain corrections whenever he deems fit
For IBB to give such a reason for annulling the only free and fair election in Nigeria is unbelievable and untenable, anyway we knows the actual reason for his action i.e to perpetuate himself on power, but when he had no choice he had to ''step aside ''while leaving his crony, abacha to do exactly what he he was against, looking back at those years i realize Nigeria and Nigerians had not changed,it's beyond me to know that THIS man can still walk free in Nigeria,I know for sure that the blood of the souls he murdered will judge him.I can assure you that .

SaharaReporters, New York

When James Ibori, Bukola Saraki and a coalition of other incumbent and former governors facing graft charges recruited Mrs. Farida Waziri to head the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), SaharaReporters did a detailed expose on her recruitment and eventual "clearance" by the Nigerian senate, despite loud protestations from conscientious Nigerian citizens and civic groups Mrs. Waziri was forced on Nigerians as EFCC chairperson.

SaharaReporters has also documented Waziri’s incompetence and many corrupt deals since assuming leadership of the anti-graft agency. Our detailed reports on her stint at the special-fraud unit of the Nigeria Police Force showed that she was in cahoots with major perpetrators of advance fee fraud ("419"wink. Under her watch, 419 crimes skyrocketed. A source recently disclosed to us that, in her days on the special-fraud unit, she remained a regular face at the Federal Palace Ikoyi hotel suite maintained by Fred Ajudua, a notorious 419 kingpin.

Our more recent investigation into her tenure at the EFCC has revealed a lot more troubling facts of her involvement in direct stealing of EFCC funds. Specifically, she has used her "special assistant" to make cash withdrawals from the agency. These withdrawals have been made under the bogus heading of "information funds".

SaharaReporters investigations showed that between June 23 2008 and October 22nd 2008, Mrs. Waziri – with the aid of her blood brother, Yisa Terfa Moses, whom she hired as a special assistant – withdrew the sum of N75 million as “information fund” from the accounts of the EFCC.

In preparation for what started as a petty pilfering of EFCC funds, Mrs. Farida had earlier recruited a police officer of her ethnic stock, a Tiv policeman named James Vandefan Tersudh, to take charge of the accounts department at the EFCC. A breakdown of Mrs. Waziri's "information fund" withdrawals shows that on Monday June 23 2008 she took out N5 million. Three days later, on June 26 2008, she made cash withdrawals of N15 million. She followed up with withdrawals of N15 million on July 22nd 2008 and another N15 million on July 28 2008.

Waziri’s looting of EFCC funds resumed on August 2nd 2008 with a cash withdrawal of N2 million, followed by another withdrawal of N3 million on August 14th 2008. On September 20th and October 14th 2008 respectively, Mrs. Waziri also took out N20 million in two N10 million installments.

Saharareporters investigators could not determine any specific “information” projects that the withdrawn monies were used for. At any rate, there are no accounts of their usage provided in the account books of the EFCC. However, two sources within the agency told us that Mrs. Waziri used the funds to fete and 'take care' of journalists in an attempt to shore up her badly battered image.

However, the cash withdrawals have coincided with our discovery of Mrs. Waziri's curious purchase of federal government owned properties in the Wuse II area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja. As a retired former Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Mrs. Waziri owned only one plot of land in Maitama area of Abuja. According to our investigations, on May 26 1999, she was allocated Plot 601 at 23 Aso Garden Estate, Maitama Abuja. One Barrister Mike Idoko Ejeh submitted her application.

However since her assumption of office in 2008, Mrs. Waziri has acquired several properties in Abuja. SaharaReporters investigators found out that she purchased from the Federal Capita Development Authority (FCDA) a federal government house valued at N50.04 million at number 10 Port Novo Street, Wuse II, Abuja. The house was described in FCDA records seen by SaharaReporters as a five-bedroom detached house with boys’ quarters.

Mrs. Waziri paid N5 million for the property through a bank draft issued by Access Bank of Nigeria. The property is currently being renovated. A source told our correspondent that the Access Bank link was suspicious. On assuming office as EFCC chair she had moved almost all EFCC accounts to the bank where her daughter was employed. Shortly after her relocation of the agency's accounts, we confronted EFCC spokesperson Femi Babafemi who admitted that Access Bank had EFCC account, but he said only the salary accounts were moved there.

It was not clear how Mrs. Waziri paid the balance of N45 million on the property, but a source at FCT told SaharaReporters that the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Aliyu Umar Modibbo, grossly undervalued the property. “The minister was in trouble because of serious cases of corruption, and he offered the house to Mrs. Waziri at a give-away price in order to secure her support otherwise a property of that type in Wuse II cost at least N150 million,” said the source.

Mrs. Waziri's dealings with Moddibo started when “President” Umaru Yar'adua instructed Mrs. Waziri to investigate how another former minister of the FCT, Nasir El Rufai, managed proceeds of sales of Federal properties in Abuja under Obasanjo's tenure. El-Rufai was being sought for punishment as Yar'adua began clamping down on the vocal members of the former regime especially the so-called reformers.

Yar'adua was responding to allegations contained in petitions that accused El-Rufai of embezzling N32 billion. The Nigerian Senate was also simultaneously probing the alleged embezzlement. The funds at the center of the investigations were monies that El Rufai placed with an FCT-owned loans and savings bank, Aso Savings, from which federal civil servants were supposed to draw housing loans.

Unknown to Yar'adua, Modibbo had withdrawn the funds from Aso Savings and distributed it amongst various commercial banks leaving behind a meager N7 billion. In “gratitude,” the banks paid Modibbo the interests generated from the deposits, even a Presidency circular asking him to return the funds to the Central bank of Nigeria was ignored. EFCC agents found out about the extensive fraud as they interrogated Modibbo and took his statements – which were forwarded to the Presidency before Mrs. Waziri could see them. Unaware of her agents’ damning report, she commissioned another report on Modibbo, highly favorable, which was again dispatched to the Presidency.

Briefed on Modibbo's extensive corruption dossier with the Presidency, SaharaReporters reported in September 2008 that he was penciled in for removal from office. While awaiting his removal from office, Modibbo hurriedly allocated lands to 24 individuals on September 24 2008. The list of beneficiaries included EFCC chair, Farida Mzamber Waziri, who was allocated the second largest piece of land-about 1 ½ acress- on the list. Coincidentally, the list contained names of top journalists and editors such as Reuben Adeleye Abati (editorial page editor of the Guardian), Adebayo Onanuga of TheNEWS, Comfort Chinezerem Obi of the SOURCE magazine, Mr. Director Uhunmwernkpenma Osa of Insider Weekly and Bala Dan Abu of Newswatch. An FCT official told Saharareporters that all ministerial approvals derive from land applications. Two of the editors we contacted stressed the same point. Still, an official at the EFCC familiar with details of Modibbo’s corrupt deals told Saharareporters that the former minister's decision to allocate lands to Mrs. Waziri alongside top newspaper editors was done to ensure that the transaction was not reported – and that Modibbo’s extensive scams at the FCT were covered up.

On receiving the list, we contacted Comfort Obi, publisher of the SOURCE and a member of the Police Service Commission (PSC), a body that recently dismissed former EFCC chairman Nuhu Ribadu from the police. Ms. Obi told our reporter that she got land alongside other editors by applying for it, noting that there was nothing unusual about it. She also said some editors got land allocations in Abuja two years before her crew got theirs. Also, Mr. Bayo Onanuga of TheNEWS told Saharareporters that he purchased the land in Abuja legitimately like every other Nigerian, and that he paid for it. He further told our reporter that the former minister did not give land to any editor for free, underlining that some of the editors had a difficult time putting the money together for their allocations.

Mrs. Waziri's Certificate of Occupancy was offered to her the next day. The C of O read that she was allocated Plot 1460 of 25 Trent River Street, Maitama, Abuja with file number 60219 in Cadastral zone B06 of MABUSHI. The land area size is 2336.26 square metres.

However, her plot soon became the subject of a hide-and-seek game. According to a source within the FCT who knew about the transactions, Mrs. Waziri and the former minister suspected that SaharaReporters was aware of the land allocation to her. Waziri arranged with the FCT to change the ownership of her land. On October 13 2008, the Federal Capital Territory Administration Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS) wrote her a "withdrawal letter" titled "Notice of Withdrawal of right of Occupancy." The short letter, addressed to Mrs. Farida Mzamber Waziri, stated that her Right of Occupancy to Plot 1460 within B06 MABUSHI was revoked by "DISCRETION BY AUTHORITY". The letter listed the director of development control, director legal, and director “URP” as the source of the letter.

Two days after the revocation, the same plot was allocated to Mrs. Waziri's daughter, Zainab Naomi Salawu. The same plot was now assigned a new file number GO 60167. In an attempt to hide the exact identity of the re-allocated land, FCT officials gave the address as 2 River Trent Crescent, Maitama Abuja.

In a move that betrayed her stake in the land, Mrs. Waziri sent Mohammed A. Bako, the EFCC protocol officer, to sign a letter accepting the land. Bako, who signed on behalf of Zainab Naomi Salawu, gave his EFCC office phone number 09-64441118, his e-mail address, abako@efccnigeria.org, as well as his home address in Karu area of Abuja. Zainab Salawu is believed to own a hair saloon in London known as "Naomi Davids".

The land grab by Mrs. Waziri is coming on the heels of our recent revelation of her receipt of a Mercedes Benz GL 450 gift from Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom.

Our efforts to reach Aliyu Moddibo – whose removal led him to weep openly at his handing over ceremony – did not yield any results. Two of his former aides claimed he was out of Nigeria but sources knowledgeable about his whereabouts said he is currently in Kano where he maintains a sprawling mansion he “commissioned” a few weeks ago.

I guess you must have something personal against Ribadu, with the way you've been attacking the guy, right left and centre, any rational thinking human being will know that Ribadu did what was right though with minor hitches, and any body that must clean up Nigeria will definitely step on toes,e.g Nafdac Boss etc, even  you being the most righteous Nigerian can't do half of what the poor guy has done, and yes obasanjo appointed him,was it not the same obasanjo that appointed the current world bank MD as finance minister, and also Nafdac boss etc,it is on record that obasanjo was able to gather together some of the best personalities in this country to his adminstration, and they all did their best. Please my advice to you is to try and reason logically, and and not be rash in your judgements, its people like you that create problem for Nigeria.Ribadu should be celebrated and not castigated.

Until Nigerians Mindsets begin to change about the fact that they need to rise up and demand a change from this vicious rulers holding the country hostage, the status quo will still remains and i can bet you,in no time the country will be worse off than sudan or zimbabwe, even before the oil dries off, what has been the benefits of the oil anyway?no road, light, health etc.Nigerians needs to wake up and demand a change.but an average Nigerian is too laid back, will prefer manage with what he has or wait for his turn, until this this mentality is changed, the country will remain as it is or worse off.

amaikama:

I was runinning and crying profusely like a woman who had lost every thing that she had ever worked for in her entire life. asking God what my purpose here on earth on a lonely street for God knows where. all of a certain, i find my self trapped in a place that looks like a cave or a wood that has no exit and the means of going back ward was not in any existence just the only place for me is to go up and it require me in climbing the rocks as i can remember.

Up i go but not for long as i moved up gradually, i saw a bird nest on my way and i had to pass it to reach the top. low and behold, a kind of small snake was waiting for me at the bird nest. the sight of it all scares me and i had to fell from the rock or tree i was climbing to the ground and the snake came after me alright but i jerked up from my dream.

Please! if you are good in interpreting dreams kindly interpret this cause it giving me allot of concern.

Hi,
I need to let you know that God loves you, hence the revelations in this dream,You must be a hardworking person,or a serious minded individual who's determined to succeed and your prayers must have come up Him. God is only showing you the reasons why your desires are not coming to pass,There has been a conspiracy against you,and I believe it's there a long time, some powers that are not of God are determined to stop your breakthrough, though you've made several attempt or rather struggle to break free, all your efforts have been useless, this is the reason why you find your self in a cave and as you attempt to find a way out,a snake was waiting for you.
My advice to you are:
God has desired to deliver you and your deliverance will be final.
You will need to fast and pray.I will recommend 3 days dry fast i.e do not eat or drink water during this fast.I also recommend you pray along during the course of the fast.
Accept Jesus Christ as your lord and saviour so that this enemies will not have inroad into your life again.
Join a Bible believing church in your locality.
I know surely that you will be delivered, and that the same God that reveal this dream to you will surely deliver you.
Do not be afraid ,Only trust God ,your time of deliverance is now!
I will pray along with you.
God bless you.

Ol boy, no even let Almondjoy descend on you for typing that line in bold there , ROFLMAO!!!
For the purpose of clarity,I believe a Nigerian will always be a Nigerian,no matter your situation or circumstances,it's simple and straight forward,a mature mind should be able to understand this analogy.

@poster,
Instead of complaining, think about what could bring a change to the country,Nigeria belong to you and me and our children and grand children,no matter how many years you've lived abroad, even holding a dual citizenship do not change the fact that you're a Nigerian, contribute your quota to the desired change in Nigeria it might be as little as starting a blog to raise awareness about the need for change, just start something,i believe Nigeria will be great again!
God bless.
