You and your masters are desperate to reverse the progress made in fighting corruption. Magu will stay as acting chairman and fight you the icons of corruption in the senate. We are not returning to the times when stealing was not corruption.
Please name 5 icons he has jailed.... I have been away in Siberia

Koolking:
Why is the senate opposing the appointment of Magu as EFCC Chairman? The man is doing his job well, I expected the senate to support him.

Looks like the senate wants an armchair EFCC chairman that will always be at their 'beck and call'.

President Obasanjo used to pay them in order to get things move faster, I think that era had long past. The senate has to evolved and embrace reality.
Oga Senate is not against Magu, DSS indicted him, EFCC and DSS are under the presidency.. Why not blame the presidency for not handling its affairs well.

Senate is acting on a report, it's not about doing something well or not, it's about obeying the law of the land..

Infact, you can do something legal on an illegal foundation...

Let's even come to this Magu, what exactly is he doing well? How many top politicians has he jailed? EFCC has even lost more cases under his leadership than anytime before, all they do is bark all around the place and get defeated in the court...

deomelllo:
You rightfully quoted the Senate's constitutional obligation to confirm or reject executive nominations, but not the executive powers and prerogative to nominate and keep nominating any candidate they desire including Magu.

There is no law under the Nigerian constitution that says the executive cannot keep nominating and sending the same candidate for confirmation.

The Senate is free to keep rejecting Magu, it is their choice per the constitution, but they can not prevent the executive from nominating the same Magu over and over and over and over again.

Bottomline, this ruling means a lot to the Senate, but it means nothing to the President of Nigeria and it doesn't say and can never say the President of Nigeria can not renominate the same candidate.

Now, the Senate should never be allowed to approve heads of agencies like EFCC especially considering the fact that many members of the Senate are under investigation by the same EFCC/Magu, even the Senate president himself.

It's like asking the armed robber to pick and chose his own favorite prosecutor and deciding Judge. It's called conflict of interest.

The Senate by the deciding to place an embargo on Executive nomination approval is unconstitutional and illegal blackmail, they have to do their job which is to confirm or reject nominees.

The President per his powers and equal powers regarding separation of powers has the upper hand and al the Senate can do is to keep saving face with meaningless court judgments and tantrums.

The Nigerian Senate in it's present form is rubbish, unfocused, corrupt, materialistic, self-serving and incompetent.
Since you are talking about the constitution, it does not also states the timeline a presidential appointment must take before confirmation, since the president can keep sending same name, they can also leave the names unattended to till the last day of the assembly.. Everybody get their own power.

So the president should not even waste his time sending names for confirmation, the country will be on standstill...

Afterall, they even claimed they don't need senate confirmation after their name has been rejected...

The senate under the leadership of Bukola Saraki is the best thing to ever happen to Nigeria politically since 2015, if not buhari and his cabal would have turn Nigeria to a banana Republic..

Ordinarily Law is law and should be obeyed, legislators is there to check excesses of the executives, the biggest thieves are in the presidency and not senate.
This magu that you are shouting, how many cases has he won? How many of those senators has he jailed?

Is DSS, the agency that wrote report against him too under the Senate, or their DG is under probe by magu.

DSS and efcc are under presidency, president nominates and an agency under it blocks the nomination and you are blaming the senate...

Oga, drink water...

Yes, your friend bought a company in China? shocked You people can tell fake stories, sha. cheesy Maybe it was a small SME family shop or start-up mini factory, making kits that he bought, and you are now flaunting it up here. You want to compare that small Chinese shop with Chevron Netherlands firm, that Paddy Adenuga bidded for? Chai, you are very funny. grin

If it is so easy to buy an international firm like Chevron Netherlands, tell us how many of such international firms you have bought in Western Europe, and how you assembled the financing for such an endeavour.
I can clearly see how mundane and senseless u are, I do not need to engage u anymore.
U said its not easy to own company in Europe na because of tax and work force.. Hahaha hahaha..

Your brain don jonnzzzz..

It's just like the best footballer in Nigerian going for trials in Barcelona and he failed.....

Lots of people are bidding for businesses across the world everyday...

No b new thing guy, maybe paddy's story is the greatest u have ever heard in your life... I understand

How many rich kids of African descent do you know, that have made a bid for an international exploration company in Western Europe, from their bedrooms in Nigeria or other parts of Africa? You think that is how bids are conducted?
He hehehehe, u don surely tey for village..

Is there anyway you will do business anywhere without one yin rules and regulations? Is there anywhere u will do business without paying taxes?
All this things u mentioned here, even a 2yr old knows..
I have worked with a contracting firm and I swear with your money, you can do business anywhere, I meant any country.

There's a man I know for example, bought a company in China, he's into supply of military and Para military uniforms, kits (major supplier), part of the suppliers of NYSC kits and all...
He bidded for up to 6 companies, his son is studying in China and a friend to a rich man in China who helped them Broker the business and acquisition...

He's also member of Nigeria - China Business council... And have met friends there who will always bring business opportunities they can invest in China, and Nigeria etc

It's not a big deal, this is what happens every other day in the business world...

Let me tell you something, to do business in Netherlands, it takes around 1500 - 2500 euros to register your business depending on the size, you can join the Dutch chamber of Commerces, meet people and get to know about business opportunities in their countries, if u have money invest..

You can go tru a citizen as a third party so as to reduce your taxation and all...

There's nothing special about this guy's story...

Oh so you think it is easier to leave your country, and go elsewhere and just buy up another firm that is almost like a national icon in another country, simply because of all the things you listed here? Are you aware that such foreign countries have far more stringent rules concerning taxation, labour, bidding, environmental as well as legal obligations, that you have to fulfill? Wait first, if it is so easy according to you, tell us how many international businesses have you bought in Western Europe and other foreign countries? shocked

Hehehehe, Nigerians sef..

Anybody can bid for any company, infact, you can even sit down at home and bid, worst you won't win it..

Every contractor and business man bid, win and loose bids everyday...

There's no big deal and nothing special about that story.
Anybody can register a company abroad, if you fulfill some conditions which are not difficult...

I will still cut cap for a yahoo boy who successfully scam an oyinbo than take paddy's story series...

It's even more easier to do international business, because you do not Need to bribe in other countries to get business done.
If you have your money, you can fly to any country and invest.
There are chambers of commerce of countries everywhere, high commissions of countries everywhere.

Businesses loose millions of dollars after investment, fail and start again. This is a story of a man who lost a contract. Many businessmen loose government contracts every otherday. No mind Nigerians and their ass licking attitude
His father is the second richest man in Nigeria, he's rich already, so there's a very strong final financial backing, there's a company for sale, he put in and lost... There's nothing special in that na.

Anybody, I mean anybody can do that, he can even stay back in Nigeria and bid without running up and Dan... There are many rich kids who buys existing companies too depending on how deep your pocket is...

I have a friend who we are serving together and had wanted to start a fish pond and luckily there was someone who had a problem and willing to sell, he just spoke to his mum and in 5days, the money was raised and that was it...

I believe there are millions of rich kids who would have bought and sold companies....

Am I the only one who don't find this whole story of this padi a big deal?

He only narrated what an average businessman goes through everyday, we were taught in business studies in JSS class ways of owning businesses and acquiring an already existing one is one of them..

He has money, bid for an already existing big company and he failed, and what else?
Anybody, I Mean anybody can do that, when the resources is available at his disposal, he can even borrow from bank and acquire it, the story would have been more interesting had it been he's buying over a failed company and trying to revive and bringing it back to life..

I mean anybody, any rich man can do this one na, even all this northern market men can find it..

He didn't create anything from scratch, package and trying to get customers, convince them, maintain and keep customers coming back or something...

Abeg, make e Park well. Anybody wey get money, their talk to dey trip Nigerians top much, even inside family...

EternalTruths:
Let me correct you even though I share Kanu's belief.

Buhari will win 2019 election because of these 3 factors

1) Ethnicity: You need 2 major ethnic groups against the other major ethnic group.
Unlike 2015 when it was Yoruba/Hausa Fulani against the Igbos, 2019 will be Yorubas against the Hausa Fulani people while the Igbos watch from the sideline and most probably sell their votes to Buhari in order to get their presidency in 2023.

2) Religion: Christians won't support another Hausa Fulani Muslim and Muslims including the ones from the West won't vote a Northern Christian out of fear that their religion is being sidelined and decimated.

3) Party: Divided Opposition
You can't correct Me, you can only state your opinion

1. Let me tell you, buhari and APC won 2015 election because it was against a southerner, so it was easy to form a formidable Northern front, this time, it's going to be North vs North, Buhari will not get all the huge votes, what is needed to defeat buhari is for the other candidate to win 30-40% of North, Southwest is always divided, and get majority of South-South, South East and that's all.
This time, he's not going to get as much as 1.9m votes from Kano... Etc

Remember that buhari didn't contest for the first time in 2015, even when he contested against yardua, he didn't have much votes unlike when he contested against Jonathan in 2011..

2. This time, since PDP and APC are both fielding northern candidates, both of them is definitely going to be Muslims, western Muslims are mostly liberals, so you will expect that a good number of them will vote for the other PDP candidate. He might not be as religious as Buhari but he's a Muslim at the end of the day.

3. Only PDP and APC will slug it out in the election, other candidates and parties will most times vote for any of them.
Most of those parties will not even have candidates and will likely adopt any of PDP or APC candidates, infact most of the parties are mainly for negotiations and cannot throw any reasonable blow in the polity.

Winning an election is Nigeria is just 30% of the candidate and 70% of people (kingmakers) behind him.

Most of you thinks it's only your votes that make a candidate win, when yardua came who ever taught of him when we had popular candidates like Buba Marwa, Jerry Ghana as contestants, Obasanjo brought yardua from nowhere and he won convincingly.

Don't forget that in 2011, buhari did not have 50% of the margin Jonathan used in flogging him, but the same buhari defeated Jonathan, Why? Because people who brought Jonathan to win election also brought Buhari.

Let me make something very clear, people that has become Nigeria president are those who never knew they will get there, infact buhari never knew he will win or Jonathan will concede defeat, because had Jonathan gone to court to challenge that election, it would probably have been canceled.

Now, the person that will become president in 2019 might be chilling in a beer parlor now, he might not even be sure of contesting, they will bring him out, polish him, give him all the necessary support, hail him on the pages of newspapers and Buhari will be gone..

Nigerian masses contribute so little to the emergence of a president, that's why most times we get people who will not serve us..

Keep calm, save this comment and we talk in 5-8months..

But one thing I will Assure you is that BUHARI IS NOT COMING BACK!

Romance › Re: 3 Reasons Why Nigerian Men Should Date Feminists by Olumaeme: 4:00pm On Jan 27, 2018
themonk:
Saying no to feminism is very stupid i must say, calls for equal right between men and women should be an innate characteristic any sane and normal human being should possess.

Wasn't it white people that protested the racial equality years back and now they have accepted their wrongs and black still think they dont deserve racism when they want to only have subservient women in the society.

True! Most african women who claim to be feminists do not even have an iota of idea of what it means and most african males who reject the idea are just afraid of losing their imaginary ego or are just too religious to accept that women are just as human as they are.

This is the age of reason, let your irrationality fly away and give women equal opportunities and equal rights. Anyother thing outside this is not feminism and anybody who rejects what is inside this circle is not human enough.

In my view every sane human being whether male of female should be a feminist.
Feminism is crap

1. There's no separate law for men and women, at least in Nigeria, we all obey the same law, we are governed by the same law, then why is feminism coming to play?
Is it that there are things men can do that women can't? Women can contest and has contested for the highest office in the land, women are bosses at work, women are almost in everywhere we find men, so whats that feminism thing all about?

Infact there are cases where women even get special treatment, they don't post them to war zones (military), they have ministry of women affairs, women leaders in political parties etc that men don't even enjoy.

2. There are some roles women cannot do, not because anybody deprive them from doing it, they are weaker, and it's not the fault of anybody, that's how they are made, they cry foul and claim feminism when they don't get some of this advantages or they use it as bargaining tool,

3. We are living in a man's world, I don't think there's any woman in the top 10 richest list of any country, this world is dominated by men, science, education, technology, music Infact almost all spheres of life are dominated by men.
Men are intellectual brilliant and stronger than women, that why they are dominating

4. Old, bitter women are always the one shouting feminism, you will hardly see any happy, intelligent and determined woman shouting feminism up and down, because thy are busy making something meaningful out of their life, they know that men is not their problems and know thy are equal to men already...
